In view of the problems that alkali to solanite concentrate turned red and acid soluble slurry thickened into foam during comprehensive recovery, which led to product discoloration and decreased production capacity, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and infrared spectrum analysis were used to analyze the composition of ore pollutants, and the removal effect of calcination method on monazite concentrate contaminants were studied through condition test and pilot plant tests. The results show that the alkali transformation color is mainly caused by the organic matter containing carboxyl group, benzene ring or cycloalkane covering the monazite surface. Under the conditions of calcination temperature of 400 ℃ and calcination time of 40 min, the COD removal rate of alkali to pulp is greater than 94%, and the organic matter removal effect is good, which can solve the problem of 30% reduction in production and processing capacity, reduce power consumption and energy consumption, remove occupational health and other safety and environmental risks caused by fluting in production, and ensure the recovery rate of uranium and rare earth. This method improves the processing process of monazite and has a certain popularization value.

针对某独居石精矿在综合回收过程中出现碱转矿浆变红、酸溶矿浆黏稠起泡沫导致产品变色、生产能力下降问题,采用扫描电子显微镜、红外光谱分析等手段对矿石污染物成分进行分析,并通过条件试验和半工业试验研究了煅烧法对独居石精矿污染物的去除效果。结果表明:碱转变色主要是由覆盖在独居石表面的含羧基、苯环或环烷烃的有机质造成;在煅烧温度400 ℃、煅烧时间40 min条件下,碱转矿浆COD去除率大于94%,有机质去除效果较好,能解决生产处理能力下降30%的问题,还能降低电耗、能耗,解除生产中冒槽引发的职业健康等安全环保风险,同时保证铀、稀土回收率。该法完善了独居石加工流程,具有一定推广价值。

In view of the problems that alkali to solanite concentrate turned red and acid soluble slurry thickened into foam during comprehensive recovery, which led to product discoloration and decreased production capacity, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and infrared spectrum analysis were used to analyze the composition of ore pollutants, and the removal effect of calcination method on monazite concentrate contaminants were studied through condition test and pilot plant tests. The results show that the alkali transformation color is mainly caused by the organic matter containing carboxyl group, benzene ring or cycloalkane covering the monazite surface. Under the conditions of calcination temperature of 400 ℃ and calcination time of 40 min, the COD removal rate of alkali to pulp is greater than 94%, and the organic matter removal effect is good, which can solve the problem of 30% reduction in production and processing capacity, reduce power consumption and energy consumption, remove occupational health and other safety and environmental risks caused by fluting in production, and ensure the recovery rate of uranium and rare earth. This method improves the processing process of monazite and has a certain popularization value.

独居石是一种磷酸盐矿物,学名磷铈镧矿,化学式为(Ce、La、Nd)PO4,其中稀土氧化物(REO)质量分数可达50%~68%,同时含0.2%~0.6%的U3O8和5%~10%的ThO2,是提取稀土、铀、钍产品的重要原料之一[1-2]。但独居石放射性水平较高,单一的独居石在我国已经禁止开采,目前,独居石精矿主要来源于进口(或国产)锆英砂选矿后形成的副产品。
独居石资源回收经历了3个阶段,第1阶段侧重回收钍,第2阶段单一回收稀土,目前进入了第3阶段,综合回收铀、钍、稀土[3-5]。某独居石精矿在进行综合回收过程中出现碱转矿浆变色,同时伴有结块和沉渣、酸溶矿浆黏稠起泡沫等现象,造成产品变色、生产能力下降等问题,严重影响了生产运行。
针对上述问题,开展了矿石污染物成分分析及去除技术研究,以期为解决实际生产中遇到的问题,提高独居石处理技术水平,促进行业绿色发展提供技术参考。
试验用的10批独居石矿样分别取自马达加斯加、尼日利亚、马来西亚,编号及产地见表1
试剂:盐酸、氢氧化钠,均为分析纯,购自西陇科学股份有限公司。
仪器与设备:扫描电镜,MLA650F,美国FEI公司;体视显微镜,Leica LED5000 RL80/40,德国徕卡;红外光谱仪,L1600400 spetrum TWO FT-IR DTGS,美国珀金埃尔默。
独居石精矿经破磨后采用氢氧化钠碱转,碱转矿浆固液分离后制备碱饼,滤液用于制备磷酸三钠;碱饼采用盐酸酸溶,然后分别制备铀、钍、稀土产品。独居石综合回收工艺流程如图1所示,矿石污染物问题对工艺流程会产生直接影响,重点涉及碱转化、过滤和酸溶3个工序。
独居石精矿溶出铀和稀土前,在氢氧化钠溶液中加热至140~160 ℃进行碱转化,固液分离后得到碱饼。主要反应原理如下:
REPO4+3NaOH═══════RE(OH)3↓+Na3PO4;
Th3(PO4)4+12NaOH═══════3Th(OH)4↓+4Na3PO4;
U3(PO4)4+12NaOH+1.5O2═══════3UO2(OH)2↓+4Na3PO4+3H2O。
碱饼在盐酸中溶解可制备氯化稀土溶液。主要反应原理如下:
RE(OH)3+3HCl═══════RECl3+3H2O;
Th(OH)4+4HCl═══════ThCl4+4H2O;
UO2(OH)2+2HCl═══════UO2Cl2+2H2O。
采集10个独居石批次矿样进行碱浸,每个批次称量50 g置于烧杯中,加入100 mL 3%的NaOH溶液,并搅拌30 min,观察碱浸液变色情况,结果如图2所示。可以看出:8800原矿与精矿、8404原矿与精矿和8-1独居石精矿样碱浸液颜色明显变化,而其他矿样的碱浸液颜色变化不明显。结合表1可知,变色矿样均来自于马达加斯加,说明该产地的试验批次矿存在碱转矿浆变红的异常现象,因此,本研究重点围绕8800和8404两个批次矿样进行试验。
针对含污染物的代表性独居石矿,采用X荧光、SEM、红外光谱、COD等进行分析测试,结果显示污染物的主要成分为有机质,因此,试验采用COD进行表征。
含污染物的矿石在生产中出现碱转矿浆变红、酸溶矿浆起黏稠泡沫等异常现象,实验室复现情况如图34所示。由于碱转矿浆变色现象与前述碱浸液变色现象基本相同,为方便观察污染物去除效果,后续碱转化试验均用碱浸试验展示。
试验过程中发现变色矿浆极难过滤,疑似为胶体,因此采用激光笔对碱浸液进行丁达尔测试,结果如图5所示。可以看出:碱浸液经激光照射出现丁达尔效应,说明滤液中含有胶体,根据颜色判定其可能为Fe(OH)3胶体。因此,对8404精矿和碱浸后滤饼及滤液中Fe元素含量进行测定,结果见表2
表2看出:碱浸后所得碱饼中Fe含量很低,且含量与精矿相比,减小幅度很小,几乎无变化;且碱浸液中的Fe质量浓度也仅为6.90 mg/L,因此判定,引起滤液变色的物质不是Fe(OH)3胶体。
考虑到引起独居石碱浸液变色的物质可能为矿石中的某种无机成分,因此,对碱浸前后的8800精矿、8404精矿进行多元素分析。作为对照,对碱浸前后的6-4矿样品也进行多元素分析,结果见表3。可以看出,碱浸前后各元素含量变化都较小,说明变色现象与这些元素无关,溶液变色不是由无机物反应造成的。
由于引发变色的可能是低含量矿物,因此,对碱浸前、后的8800精矿、8404精矿和6-4矿样品进行扫描电子显微镜分析,判断独居石中是否含有可能引起碱浸液变色的矿物,结果如图6所示。可以看出:8800、8404精矿在碱浸前大部分颗粒表面颜色较暗,碱浸后矿石样品表面颜色较碱浸前变亮,说明部分导致碱浸液变色的物质覆盖在独居石颗粒表面,其在碱浸过程中进入碱浸液中;6-4矿样品碱浸前后大部分颗粒样品表面均未发生明显变化,这与该样品碱浸前后滤液颜色均未发生明显变化(图2)现象一致。在SEM分析过程中,除了独居石和少量金红石、锆英石和石英外,未发现可能引起变色的矿物成分。结合上述分析结果,初步推断引起独居石矿样遇碱变红的物质可能不是无机的矿物成分,而是某种有机物。
通过体视显微镜可在较大倍数下直接观察矿石颗粒与碱溶液反应过程,并根据观察结果初步判断污染物是某些单独的颗粒还是覆盖于矿石颗粒表面的物质。因此,在体视显微镜下向8404精矿颗粒上滴加3%的NaOH溶液,观测反应过程,并观察碱浸前、后8404精矿的颜色变化,结果如图7所示。
图7看出:向独居石颗粒上滴加NaOH溶液后,几乎所有颗粒周围的液体都迅速变为红色,未发现单独的污染物颗粒;碱浸后8404独居石颗粒的颜色较碱浸前明显变浅,这说明矿石中的污染物主要覆盖于矿石颗粒表面。因该污染物具有良好的碱溶性,推断其可能为有机物。
为了进一步验证矿石表面覆盖物是否为有机物,对碱浸后滤液COD进行分析。对8800原矿和精矿、8404原矿和精矿、NRLY、5-2、6-2、6-3和6-4共9个样品碱浸后(20 g矿样+40 mL 3%NaOH溶液搅拌30 min)的滤液进行COD分析,结果见表4。可以看出:产自马达加斯加的8800原矿和精矿、8404原矿和精矿4个样品的碱浸液COD在870.5~1 042.0 mg/L之间,而产自其他地区的5个样品的碱浸液COD在33.3~230.6 mg/L之间,这进一步证明引起独居石碱浸液变色的污染物为有机物。
为分析独居石矿样表面的有机物成分,对8404精矿碱浸液进行浓缩干燥得到提取物,并对其进行红外光谱分析,结果如图8所示。
图8看出,碱浸液提取物的成分较复杂:2 500 cm-1和1 762 cm-1处的特征峰为羧基的C══O拉伸振动峰;1 000 cm-1处可能为羧基的C—O拉伸振动峰[6-7];1 500 cm-1可能为苯环的C—C拉伸振动峰,862 cm-1处可能为苯环的C—H拉伸振动峰,688 cm-1处可能为苯环的C—H弯曲振动峰;560 cm-1处可能为环烷烃类Cn$\mathrm{{H}_{2}}_{n}$(n≥3)基团中的C—H拉伸振动峰[8-9]。由此说明,独居石中的污染物可能为含羧基、苯环和环烷烃的腐殖酸类污染物,属于分子结构复杂的大分子聚合物,是动植物遗骸(主要是植物的遗骸)经过微生物的分解和转化,以及地球化学、物理的一系列过程造成和积累形成的一类有机物质,即该污染物是由于天然成因包裹在独居石表面。因此,根据天然成因、试验现象及分析结果可以基本确定该物质为腐殖酸类污染物。
针对独居石矿表面污染物,可采用水洗、酸洗、碱洗、煅烧等多种方法去除。其中,水洗、酸洗效果较差,不能有效去除有机质;多次碱洗可去除独居石表面有机物,消除变色现象,但会产生大量高碱度有机废水,后续处理难度大;相对而言,采用煅烧法去除选矿精矿中有机物较为有效[10],因此,重点研究了煅烧法去除独居石表面污染物。
试验取20 g矿样(8404精矿)进行煅烧,确定去除有机物最佳煅烧温度和时间,并将最佳条件下煅烧后矿样中加入40 mL 3%NaOH溶液进行碱浸,对碱浸液进行COD检测。
控制煅烧时间40 min,考察煅烧温度对去除污染物效果的影响,试验结果如图910所示。
图910看出,煅烧温度对碱浸液COD影响较大:煅烧温度为200 ℃时,碱浸液COD达853.1 mg/L,仅比未煅烧时下降38.7 mg/L,说明该温度下独居石表面有机物去除率较低;继续升温,COD急剧下降,当煅烧温度升至400 ℃时,COD降至53.5 mg/L;之后继续升温,COD降幅较小;COD与煅烧后碱浸液颜色变化趋势相吻合。综合考虑,选择煅烧温度为400 ℃。
控制煅烧温度400 ℃,考察煅烧时间对去除污染物效果的影响,试验结果分别如图1112所示。由图11看出:煅烧10 min时,矿浆COD即从煅烧前的891.8 mg/L快速降至136.6 mg/L;煅烧时间延长至40 min,COD降至50.6 mg/L,去除率大于94%;继续煅烧,COD降幅不大。结合图12可知,煅烧后碱浸液颜色也随煅烧时间延长逐渐变浅,煅烧10 min时,其颜色较未煅烧时已明显变浅,进一步证明覆盖在独居石表面的有机物在400 ℃ 能被快速去除。综合考虑,推荐煅烧时间为15 min以上。
为验证煅烧法去除独居石矿表面有机污染物的可行性,在条件试验基础上进行半工业试验。半工业试验在海南某选矿厂进行,煅烧设备为回转窑烘干炉。当窑内温度达预设值后开始投料,独居石在窑内停留时间为15 min左右。对不同煅烧温度下的出料取样进行碱浸试验(100 g矿样中加入300 mL 3%NaOH溶液),根据矿浆颜色变化(图13)初步确定污染物去除情况。试验共投料独居石精矿35.78 t,煅烧后收料35.48 t。
图13看出:回转窑烘的煅烧温度对污染物去除效果有显著影响。随煅烧温度升高,煅烧后独居石矿碱浸液的颜色逐渐变浅,煅烧温度达400 ℃以上时,出炉矿样经碱浸后碱浸液颜色已明显变浅,说明该矿在400 ℃以上煅烧即可有效去除污染物,这一结果与实验室研究结果一致,进一步表明工业上采用回转窑煅烧可有效去除独居石精矿中的污染物。建议煅烧温度在400 ℃以上,煅烧时间大于15 min。
煅烧后物料送到湖南某冶炼厂进行综合回收,试验过程中未见明显泡沫,可正常生产,未见影响收率。
针对含污染物的代表性独居石矿,采用X荧光、SEM、红外光谱、COD等进行分析测试可知,引起独居石碱浸变色的主要原因不是矿物本身的元素溶出;COD分析结果进一步表明,造成独居石遇碱变红的物质为有机物,经红外光谱分析确认该污染物是一种含有羧基、苯环和环烷烃的腐殖酸类污染物。采用高温煅烧法可有效去除独居石精矿中的污染物,升高煅烧温度、延长煅烧时间均有利于去除独居石中的污染物,最佳煅烧温度为400 ℃以上,煅烧时间大于15 min。
