In the in-vehicle simplified Chinese display standards, 3 safety related questions need to be explored and established: (1)The minimum character’s height that drivers can read on in-vehicle screens; (2)The maximum number of characters that drivers can accept in a single information prompt; (3)The total number of characters that drivers can read when completing one non-driving task. Based on 3 types of experiments on a test bench through a 128-person within-subject design, results suggest: (1)The automobile cockpits information display should use a minimum simplified Chinese character font height no less than 16’ arc minutes; (2)A single message prompt in automobile cockpits contain no more than 12 characters; (3)The total characters for messages in a single non-driving task no more than 30 characters.

目前,国内在车载信息显示中文标准上存在部分空缺,有3个相关安全标准需要探索和建立:(1)驾驶员在座舱中能够阅读的最小字符高度;(2)驾驶员在单次信息提示中能接受的最多字数;(3)驾驶员在完成一次驾驶次任务时所能阅读的字数总和。制定了128人次的试验设计方案,搭建了试验间并完成了3类试验,试验结论为:(1)车载文字最小字符高度视线夹角不小于16′;(2)车载文字单次消息提示不超过12个字;(3)完成单次任务消息提示总量不超过30个字。

目前,国内在车载信息显示中文标准上存在部分空缺,有3个相关安全标准需要探索和建立:(1)驾驶员在座舱中能够阅读的最小字符高度;(2)驾驶员在单次信息提示中能接受的最多字数;(3)驾驶员在完成一次驾驶次任务时所能阅读的字数总和。制定了128人次的试验设计方案,搭建了试验间并完成了3类试验,试验结论为:(1)车载文字最小字符高度视线夹角不小于16′;(2)车载文字单次消息提示不超过12个字;(3)完成单次任务消息提示总量不超过30个字。

In the in-vehicle simplified Chinese display standards, 3 safety related questions need to be explored and established: (1)The minimum character’s height that drivers can read on in-vehicle screens; (2)The maximum number of characters that drivers can accept in a single information prompt; (3)The total number of characters that drivers can read when completing one non-driving task. Based on 3 types of experiments on a test bench through a 128-person within-subject design, results suggest: (1)The automobile cockpits information display should use a minimum simplified Chinese character font height no less than 16’ arc minutes; (2)A single message prompt in automobile cockpits contain no more than 12 characters; (3)The total characters for messages in a single non-driving task no more than 30 characters.

嵌入式车载系统为驾驶员访问各种应用程序提供了便利。其中大部分的应用程序信息会以文字的形式在车载显示器上显示,从实时天气预报到具有行进路线和转弯方向显示的导航系统。机械按钮和指针式的显示已经逐渐被更大的屏幕与更丰富的信息显示方式所取代,这些屏幕容纳的可访问数据流越来越多。尽管国际标准化组织ISO和美国高速交通安全管理局NHTSA制定了多项标准和管理规定,致力于减少或禁止驾驶员和乘员在车载系统中某些类型的活动,但是这种车载系统的优势是可以提供更加丰富的信息与灵活变化的画面,并且可以增强车辆内饰的科技感。因此,对屏幕上显示的基础信息进行有效管控极为重要。作为汽车智能座舱中人机界面设计的基本考虑因素,文字易读性(即字符的可理解或可识别度)的重要程度随着车内视觉显示信息的不断增多而日益提高。因此,对于车内的文字显示信息,应尽量避免因字体过小、看不清、字数过多和操作复杂造成驾驶分神,从而影响驾驶安全。
驾驶安全性是汽车设计需要考虑重要的因素之一。国际标准化组织发布的ISO 15008: 2017[1],对车内显示的英文最小字号做出了明确的要求,以应对复杂的文字系统对于驾驶员分神所造成的影响。美国高速交通安全管理局发布的NHTSA-2010-0053: Visual-Manual NHTSA Driver Distraction Guidelines for In-Vehicle Electronic Devices[2]和其他相关文件描述了文字信息对于驾驶行为的影响及相关测量和使用标准(其它关联的标准有ISO 15008:2017[1]、ISO 16673:2017[3]、ISO 4513:2010[4]和SAE-J1751-1[5])。由于上述文件都以拉丁文字为基础而设定,许多条例不符合中文文字的阅读和认知特点,中国汽车企业进行中文文字显示设计时,往往缺少相关理论和标准依据。因此,相关的说明和标准应作适应中国的本土化调整,以制定出适合中国驾驶员使用的标准。
驾驶员分神对驾驶的影响不仅取决于分神的类型,还取决于任务的频率和持续时间。即使一项任务的分神程度不高,但频繁或长时间从事该任务的驾驶员也可能将碰撞危险性增加到与较少执行更为困难任务相当的水平。因此,美国、欧洲和日本的汽车工业,都对驾驶分神进行了很多有价值的研究,陈芳[6]在《以人为本的智能汽车交互设计(HMI)》书中对驾驶员分神、驾驶任务和潜在的事故风险进行了总结。同时,NHTSA-2010-0053[2]也对相关的研究进行了概括,增加了有关驾驶员分神及其对安全性影响的研究内容,研究结果表明NHTSA和ISO在制定驾驶员分神相关的设计指南时提供了很多科学依据。由于操作驾驶次任务而影响驾驶安全是一个相对复杂的问题,因此不是单因素的测量可以阐述清楚的。许多研究表明,认知分神对驾驶安全的影响没有视觉分神严重,而且认知分神不易测量,因此各国在制定分神相关的标准时,皆以视觉分神为依据。本文的研究的主要依据NHTSA-2010-0053[2]中的2个原则:
(1)眼睛单次注视(离开驾驶正前方路面)的时间不得超过2 s。
(2)完成一个次任务时眼睛离开正前方路面的总时间不得超过15 s。
目前,国内外普遍采用驾驶模拟器来进行不同车载显示系统对驾驶员分神影响的试验研究。采用非动态驾驶模拟器比用实车驾驶更容易控制试验条件,可以相对减少测量误差。同时,采用低保真模拟器得出的各种条件间对比结果的敏感性并没有减少[2]
当前,对于车载的汉字显示相关研究较少,Viita等[7]在对车内显示的中英文字符在不同字号下的可接受性与舒适性进行了对比,指出中控区域的中文阅读最低舒适性字号阈值在4.0~5.2 mm,最低可接受字号阈值为3.1~4.0 mm。仪表盘区域的中文阅读最低舒适性字号阈值在3.6~4.0 mm,最低可接受字号阈值在3.0~3.6 mm。Chen等[8]在对多任务状态下的繁体汉字快速理解试验中,得出汉字展示速度提高到430字/min时开始出现理解效率明显下降,且在单行文字浮现速度在282字/min时的理解效率比单个词浮现速度在332字/min时的理解效率高[9]。在车载英文字符显示的探索中,Crundall等[10]在驾驶模拟器试验中对英文伪文本的阅读行为进行了试验,试验结论为字号在4~9 mm(距离屏幕70 cm)时的驾驶员眼动行为会随字号减少,出现更多的凝视时间(长于2 s),且试验中的扫视总时间和驾驶绩效未在伪文本字号改变时表现出显著性。Hoffman等[11]在驾驶模拟器中的英文显示试验中,指出显示句子长度与切换速率在眼动行为中仅在凝视频率上产生显著性差异,而凝视时长未表现出显著性差异。
针对非驾驶场景,进行了常规汉字显示易读性的探索试验,得出如下结论。
(1)对于简体汉字,字号对易读性有着显著的影响[12-13],且在图像分辨率(dpi)为125、视角为0.62°,或图像分辨率(dpi)为200、视角为0.43°时[13],阅读效率最高;
(2)字符复杂度也对易读性有显著影响[12]。对于繁体汉字,字号大小[14-16]、文字方向[15]、显示行数与行间距离[17-18]、字间距[14]、汉字复杂度[16]与展示方式[18]均对易读性产生影响。字号设置在41′、字间距为1/8字符宽度时,阅读效率更高,且小字号会在眼动行为中带来更长注视时间与更少的注视次数[14]
本研究的目的是研究车内所有显示屏显示的中文字符的最小字符高度、单次信息显示最多字符数、单次驾驶任务信息显示的最多字符数,以此避免驾驶员分神,确保驾驶安全。整个研究分为3个试验:
(1)最小字符高度试验;
(2)单次扫视最多字数试验;
(3)多次扫视完成一个任务最多字数试验。
对于车载系统显示的文字来说,字号、字数、字体、字间距、行间距、屏幕亮度对比度、文字特征与背景颜色、显示环境参数都有可能会影响驾驶员从文字中提取信息的能力。但相对而言,字号对人的眼睛在一定距离内是否能够看清文字起到决定性的作用。最小字符高度的限定是为了保证驾驶员能看清仪表盘、中控区域显示器及其它潜在的可向驾驶员传递文字信息的位置中所能阅读的最小字符高度。测试时,不仅要考虑到驾驶员的视力,还需要考虑一些文字外、可能对可阅读的最小字符高度产生影响的参数,比如显示器距离、显示硬件参数、驾驶员视角的变化和环境光照。
人在阅读的过程中,一般都会从一句话的起始字开始读起。如果一句话没有读完就被中断,视线也离开了原文,再继续读时,人很难直接从中断的地方继续读,尤其是当中断发生在一段文字中间(2个标点符号之间),人们往往会从这句话的起始位置重新读起,因此需要研究驾驶员在眼睛离开前方道路2 s内单次扫视所能够阅读到的最多中文字数极限,以保证驾驶员在读取中文信息时,不会造成视觉分神。单次扫视最多字数试验是根据驾驶员视线离开路面不应超过2 s为原则,测试在这2 s内驾驶员最多单次阅读字数。
多次扫视完成一个任务最多字数的试验是根据驾驶员在驾驶过程中在屏幕上完成一个操作目标的时间不能超过15 s,在一个完整的任务中所能阅读的最多字数。多次扫视最多字数试验探索同等环境条件,阅读的字数与其它控制变量的关系。
有效被试人数为128人,具有高中及以上学历,非调研或咨询行业相关人士。被试分成4个年龄组:
(1)18~24岁;
(2)25~39岁;
(3)40~54岁;
(4)55岁及以上。
各年龄组的人数分配如图1所示,各年龄组男女比例为7∶3。
被试者双眼裸眼视力或者矫正视力需达到对数视力表4.9以上。单眼视力障碍,优眼裸视力或者矫正视力达到对数视力表5.0以上,且水平视野达到150°。
本试验根据NHTSA-2010-0053[2]标准,采用台架(图2)模拟座舱环境进行测试,房间为正常散射光线,不会对屏幕造成反光。座椅高度及屏幕点位根据实车距离固定。
根据试验需求,每位被试者需要在模拟器上的5个位置点分别测试。5个位置点为在驾驶员可视范围内,替代可能显示文字的屏幕位置,即:仪表盘、中控屏、副驾屏、内后视镜的位置(图3)。研究人员根据ISO 15008:2017的测量方式,测量了6个主机厂的代表车型(北汽X7、长安CS55、上汽RX5、宝马3系、红旗H9和大众帕萨特),测量参数取平均值作为试验时5个测试点的距离,具体参数见表1
试验使用微软Surface 12.3英寸显示屏作为试验显示设备,分辨率为2 736×1 824,像素密度为267。屏幕大小适中、显示效果理想,符合试验要求。
GB/T 2312—1980编码标准包含6 763个汉字,其中一级汉字3 755个,二级汉字3 008个,是中国制定发布的一份简体字库国家标准,中国几乎所有的中文系统和国际化的软件都支持GB/T 2312—1980。试验中的文字试题由方正集团的字体专家优先从一级汉字中选取测试字,保证测试者能够正确识读。
在试验文本的选择上,要考虑决定中文字形是否容易辨认的2个因素:
(1)文字自身的复杂程度,即所拥有的笔画数量,笔画数量越多,笔画之间的白空间越小,对字号、对比度的要求越高。此处的笔画多少并非实际的笔画数量,是笔画视觉上的体量,例如,一个短横和一个横折勾,后者在视觉体量上所占空间更多,只有视觉体量是与白空间直接相关的;
(2)是否有形状相近的汉字,如“已”字虽然笔画简单,仅有3笔,但易于与“己”字混淆。
以此建立坐标系,将测试字分为4种类型:
(1)字比较简单,但容易认错的字;
(2)笔画复杂的,不容易辨认的字;
(3)对对比度(字和背景)比较敏感的且必须测的字;
(4)容易混淆的字。
易混淆文字选择的分类方式可以按照图4的方式分为4个象限,为了使选字更有针对性,可将坐标进一步细化为8个象限,选字应更多地选择靠近坐标中心位置的4个象限。
(1)字比较简单,但容易认错的字:
1-A:补朴扑 毕华 抗杭 针钉 佘余 休体 代伐 帅师;
1-B:未末 汁计 没设 已己 勺匀勾 迂迁 甲申 冶治。
(2)笔画复杂的,不容易辨认的字:
2-A:亭亮壳 坚竖 衔街 浙淅 哀衰 弃弈;
2-B:撤撒 徽微 怒恕 游漩 陈阵 译泽。
(3)对对比度(字和背景)比较敏感的且必须测试的字:
3-A:创刨 谐诣 读渎 卓阜 盲肯 竞竟 捐捎 旁劳 导寻 亨享 李季;
3-B:慷慵 赛塞 揶挪 栽载 热熟 漫谩 器嚣 乘乖 受爱 剧刷。
(4)容易混淆的字:
4-A:奈宗 拦栏 抢枪 坏坯 讨付 幻幼 字学 务劣 札礼 巨臣 吩盼 戒戎 阳阻 料科;
4-B:犬尤 仁仨 它仑 冗亢 兑克 艺乞 芳旁 助则 动功劫 讥设 冈网凶。
最后,本试验采用“方正悦驾黑”作为试验字体,该字体是由方正集团专为车载系统设计的嵌入式中文字体。该字体设计清晰、简洁,是一款适应性强、识别效率高字体,在快速扫视环境下(如汽车仪表,显示器界面)该字体是最佳无衬线字体之一。
有关“最小字符高度”的表述方式,一般有2种方式:
(1)使用绝对物理高度进行表述;
(2)使用视觉中心点与字符上下边界的连线夹角进行表述,如图5所示。
图5中,h为字符在屏幕中的实际高度,b为眼球到屏幕的距离,α为视觉连线夹角,由于b远远大于h,因此αhb之间的换算关系如式(1)。

分析2类最小字符高度表示方法的优劣如表2所示。
(1)物理高度的表述方式(如使用“4.41 mm”表述)是在试验中座椅距离屏幕可调整的最大距离基础上获得的,因此对于一般驾驶员而言,往往视线离屏幕更近。因此,用一个绝对的物理高度定义最小字符高度,将失去在实际使用中的灵活性。另一方面,采用视觉连线夹角的表述方式,将视觉距离与字符高度之间形成了一个正比关系,使用灵活;
(2)虽然采用视觉连线夹角的表述方法,对于实际测量来说较为复杂,但还是仍可以实现;
(3)国际标准中通常采用视觉连线夹角的表述方式。
综上所述,本文将以视觉连线夹角作为最小字符高度的换算表述方式。另一方面,为了方便起见,在试验执行和数据分析过程中,采用字号作为数据记录的单位。试验最终结果通过换算将字号转换为视觉连线夹角α的表述。
试验时,被试者在试验间对每个有效样本都进行了3个独立的试验。每个试验有5组,即对应静态驾驶模拟器上的5个位置点(图3)。完成一个位置点试验后,由主持试验人员将屏幕放到下一个位置点,试验总时长约为50 min(根据答题速度和休息时间略有浮动)。以下为试验基本流程:
(1)引导被试者进入试验场地,检查视力、年龄是否真实,是否符合招募要求;
(2)引导被试者阅读知情同意书,明确试验流程与风险后,在文件上签字;
(3)引导被试者坐到台架上,在屏幕上输入被试个人及试验起始参数信息;
(4)测量被试者双眼中心点到不同屏幕的距离,用来换算最小字符高度视线夹角;
(5)引导被试者熟悉环境光线、操作页面和屏幕亮度;
(6)引导被试者在屏幕上选择能看清的最小字符高度;
(7)引导被试者完成最小字符高度试验的练习试验;
(8)待被试者进行多轮练习试验,确认已完全熟悉试验流程后,开始正式试验;
(9)询问被试者是否要休息一下眼睛;
(10)引导被试者选择看得最舒服的字号;
(11)引导被试者继续完成剩余2个试验的练习试验和正式试验,期间也可休息一次眼睛;
(12)试验完成之后,主持试验人员对被试者进行访谈,询问是否愿意来参加动态驾驶模拟对比试验。
最小字符高度试验的方法是在屏幕上同时出现3个字,被试者需要回答看到3个字是或者不是同一个字,即3个字只要有1个字不同就回答“否”。
最小字符高度界面使用方法及试验具体流程和逻辑如下。
第1步:让被试者从图6中先选出能看清的最小字符高度(字号)。在正式试验中,在被试者选出的最小字号基础上,将该字号增大和减小2 pt,并选择这3种字号进行随机混合。如,被试者在图6中选择18 pt字作为其能看清的最小字符高度,则在试验中采用3种不同的字号:16 pt、18 pt、20 pt,进行试验。
第2步:让被试者使用其选择的字号进行练习试验,练习题总共为2题,答案是一题相同,一题不同。被试者在此阶段可反复试做,直到完全熟悉试验形式和答题方式。例如,屏幕上出现“术术木”这3个字,被试者需要给出的正确答案是“否”;如果屏幕上出现“术术术”这3个字,被试需要给出的正确答案是“是”。
第3步:在完成了所有的练习试验,被试者适应回答方式和显示速度之后,可进入正式试验。正式试验除试题外,其余与练习试验一致。
正式试验共测试5个位置点(图3),每个位置共48道题,出题顺序随机。直到一组48题全部出完。试验过程中,若被试者在规定时间内未作答,判为答错,并自动进入下一题,以防止被试者思考过久盲目猜测。
试验中,文本展示时间为0.5 s,被试者作答时间为2 s,每道题准备时间为2 s,试验时长为25 min。
最多字数试验目的是为了考验驾驶员对文字内容的接受能力。
如果以视线离开路面不得超过2 s(NHTSA-2010-0053)为基础,并考虑视线移动的时间约为0.2 s,因此被试者对每道试题的观察时间为1.8 s,即在试题出现1.8 s后会自动消失。
文献[9]表明,成人一般能读300~400字/min,即1.8 s能读9~11个字。所以试验范围设定在9~14个字的句子是否可以在1.8 s内读完。
测试用的句子包含比较中性的生活类及汽车类内容,字数为9~14字。被试者在每个位置点完成18道题,每种字数的题目有3道题,有5个位置点(图3),总计90道题。
该试验的界面、试验流程和逻辑如下:
第1步:被试者先选出自己最喜欢的字号。这里主持试验人员需要引导被试者尽量选择看得最舒服,并且觉得扫一眼读取内容比较多的字号,避免直接选择最大的那个。
第2步:基于被试者选择的字号,进行2轮练习试验。练习题总共为2题,例如,有一句话“小明修改驾驶目的地到肇嘉浜路”问答题1:请问主人公是叫小明吗?正确回答是“是”;问答题2:请问主人公是去祁连山路吗?正确回答是“否”。
第3步:在完成所有的练习试验之后,点击主页界面“直接开始”进入正式试验。
正式试验方式和练习试验一致,正式试验需测试5个位置点(图3),每个位置内9~14字的不同字数的题目会随机出现,每种字数有3道题,直到一个位置点18题全部出完,每道题只会出现一次。若被试者在一定时间内未作答,按答错计,系统自动进入下一题。
正式试验题目总数为90道题,每句话展示时间为1.8 s,被试者有5 s回答时间,试验时长约为15 min。
多次扫视完成一个任务最多字数试验的目的是为了得到驾驶员在完成一个完整的任务中所能阅读的最多字数。试验方式是在屏幕中央显示一段话让被试者阅读,显示的这段话每1.8 s会消失一次,模拟驾车时驾驶员视线回到路面再回到屏幕,进行多次扫视阅读的情况。15 s之后会将这段话完整显示在屏幕上。
试题文本会基于“单次扫视最多字数试验”第一步中被试者选择的字号显示。每次阅读100字左右的文本,文本由4字成语组成的段落或者生活化的文章段落,16个字左右为一行,字间距为字体默认值,行距为1.5倍。
该试验的界面、试验流程和逻辑如下:
第1步:引导被试者进行2轮练习试验,练习试验中会出现一段约60字的文字,显示1.8 s,然后关闭1.95 s,再开启1.8 s,一共开启4次,即总时长为15 s。然后屏幕中会显示:请问您读到哪啦?之后会将这一段话再次显示在屏幕中央,由被试者点击刚才读到的最后的一个字。练习试验总共为2题,一题为成语段落,另一题为生活类的文章段落。
第2步:进入正式试验,正式试验的文本显示效果和回答方式同练习试验一致,不同的是正式试验文本字数会更多,100字左右,5个位置点(图3),每个位置点有6题,成语和短文各3题随机出现。例如1个成语段落、1个文章段落、再1个文章段落、1个成语段落(无规律可循),直到每一个位置点的6题都出完,每一题只会出现一次。正式试验题目总数为30题,试验时长约为10 min。
在数据分析的过程中,选择了被试者回答正确率最高的字号为最小字符高度,用于统计分析。被试的数据显示,在被测的3类字符高度(字号)中,并非总是字符高度越大,判断的准确性就越高。组内与组间的个体差异比较大。
对比了同一显示位置,不同年龄组间的差异(图7)和同一年龄组不同位置间的差异(图8)。结果显示,同一位置,年龄间对比,差异较大,而同一年龄,位置间对比,差异不大。从图8中可以看出,年龄在20~39岁之间,对最小字号选择的差异不大,但伴随年龄的增长,对最小字号的选择明显大于年轻人。尽管存在视力矫正,一般40岁后眼睛会开始老花,显示的字需要大些才可以看清楚。统计分析证明,它们相互间没有显著差异。图7图8中显示器位置标号对应于图3中的位置标号。
另一方面,考虑需要获知驾驶员能够看清的最小字符高度,将不同位置对不同年龄段75%的人群答题正确率为100%的最小字号进行统计,统计结果如表3所示。
数据显示,考虑到需要满足人群中75%的人可分辨的最小显示字号为18 pt和20 pt,其中18 pt经过计算公式可求得其字符高度h为4.41 mm,换算成α值,即视觉连线夹角,其所对应的值为16′(计算公式见式(1))。
同样,数据分析过程中做了年龄和显示位置间的对比,如图9图10所示。
该试验中,由于试题中使用的字号是被试者自己选的最佳阅读字号,每个被试选择的显示字号都明显大于试验的最小字号。表4显示了不同年龄组选择的最佳阅读字号,大部分人都选择的字号为20~22 pt。
结果表明,在相同的年龄组中,不同位置的显示器差异不大,但年龄间是存在差异的,尤其是55岁以上的年龄组,阅读速度明显比年轻人慢。
同样,需要保证人群中75%的人群能够完整阅读完相应字数。经统计,能够完整阅读完相应字数为12个字。
表5所示,阅读字数与年龄呈负相关,即使在正式试验之前,让被试者自主选择其最佳观察字号(表5),阅读速度依旧受年龄的影响(图11图12),年龄越大的被试者阅读速度越慢,反之越快。
同样,满足75%人群可阅读的字数量为34个字。
在一系列的试验中,试验设计面临的第1个问题是如何选择被测试的文字。在本试验开始之前,从目前中国市场上的常用车型中选了7款车做了深入的研究,发现有420个高频常用字,这些常用字是本试验选择测试字的主要参考,并按照图5的象限划分来选择的,因此有普遍的意义。
由于试验需要控制变量的原因,限定了具体的字间距、行距、字体类型相关文字指标,试验中采取了最常见的字间距与字行距,即0 pt字间距与1.5倍字行距,同时采用方正悦驾黑作为测试字体。在上述参数如何具体进一步影响中文的可读性的问题上,关心此问题的读者可以进行重复试验去验证。试验的方法可以完全采纳本文描述的方法,这些方法是严格按照国际标准展开的。在实际的使用过程中,若相关参数有较大的更改,如采用衬线字体时,或使用低分辨率的屏幕时,建议重复本试验,以保证其阅读安全性。
本试验统一采用ISO 15008: 2017中推荐的4类光照类型中的最常见的阳光漫反射作为试验环境条件,4类光照类型即阳光漫反射、阳光直射、黄昏和黑夜。对于其它光照条件,影响阅读速率的最大因素是屏幕亮度,由于目前市面上大多数彩色显示屏的屏幕亮度可以进行手动或者自动调节,因此在不同光照环境下,屏幕亮度是可以符合当下驾驶环境的要求,因此更多光照类型不在本次试验的研究范围中。
本次试验采用非动态的模拟台架进行试验,某些观点认为低保真非动态驾驶模拟器与高保真动态模拟器存在一定的差距。该观点认为,在行驶过程中的动态特性一定程度上会影响驾驶员阅读速度和识别准确率。然而,在一般铺装路面的情况下,根据NHTSA-2010-0053[2]所述,动态模拟器与非动态模拟器做出的此类试验结果并无显著性差异。与之相对的,非动态模拟器的成本更低,也更容易控制变量。同时,本次试验也在通过动态模拟器进行了与静态模拟器在阅读差异上的对比试验,试验结论并无显著性差异。因此,采用非动态驾驶模拟器进行阅读分神的研究能确保科学、准确、高效。
中文的阅读与拼音文字的阅读有很大的区别,如文献[7]中描述,单个中文字可以通过偏旁部首的形状和上下文联想来猜测,这也就造成了试验数据有比较大的离散性,同时对文字显示的位置(图3)不敏感。本研究结果建议选择试验中采用18 pt作为最小车载用字字号,即视觉连线夹角为16′。这个选择是为了保证在任何随机人群中75%的用户可以在安全、不造成分神的情况下,清楚地看清车内任何位置显示屏中显示的中文字。
在试验2中,对单次扫视可能阅读的最多中文字做了试验。阅读时,标点符号的出现是帮助断句,给出停顿位置。另一方面,在开车时,为确保驾驶安全,驾驶员的眼睛不得离开前方路面的时间是2 s,除去视线从前方道路转移到显示屏的来回时间,真正能够停留在屏幕上的时间不超过1.5 s。因此在本试验中,选择1.8 s为测试时间,是相对较宽裕的。因此,试验的结论能够确保75%的人群能够在不造成分神的情况下,能够通过一次扫视,即可完整地获取文字的信息。
试验3是为了研究一个完整的车载信息任务,不应超过的最多文字字数。研究结果表明年龄组间的差距非常大,通用设计建议需在试验结论基础上进一步总结。试验结果中满足75%人群可阅读的字数量为34个字。依据Kamiya等[19]的试验,单个汉字包含的信息量为10.8 bit,单日语片假名的信息量为9.4 bit,一个物体或者图片(例如苹果、香蕉或者一个圆圈)包含14 bit。一个英文字母,则是2.2 bit。同时,根据JAMA 车内显示设计指导2008[20],车载信息单任务中的片假名不超过31个。车载信息任务,一个完整的任务信息量应该在237~294 bit。如果以294 bit为计算,相当于27个汉字,JAMA车内显示设计指导2008[20]给出的一次显示的日文字母标准是31个。综合考虑,将此数值划定为30个中文汉字。
结合试验2与试验3,设计建议如下:当需要用比较多的汉字来表述一段信息时,建议采用的字符高度视觉连线夹角在18′~19′。同时,单次信息所使用的字数不得超过12个字。最后,对于一个完整的驾驶次任务的提示信息,所用中文总数不得超过30个字。
本研究通过完成3组试验,明确了基于车内中文文字的3类不同的参数对于文字的可读性所造成的影响。
(1)确定了车载文字中最小视觉连线夹角为16′。
(2)确定了单次扫视中出现的文字数量建议不超过12个字。
(3)确定了单次次任务扫视的文字总量建议不超过30个字。
本文研究结论同时形成了中国汽车工程学会的团体标准,为国内车企进行车载视觉中文显示设计时,提供了理论与标准依据。由于本文研究形成的参考标准是确保驾驶员在获取文字信息时不会造成视觉分神的最小字号与最多字数设置标准,因此建议在设计车载中文字信息时,能够执行此标准。
