Thermal management is one of the key technologies of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) vehicles, which affects the power performance, fuel ecomomy, safety and life of the vehicle. In view of the shortcomings of the traditional thermal management control strategy (on-off strategy), this paper proposes to maintain the inlet and outlet water temperature of the fuel cell system at the target value by controlling the fuel cell thermostat opening and fan speed. The multi-fan speed distribution strategy and control strategy of over temperature treatment, together with PID realize the rapid response of the thermal management system of the fuel cell system. The results show that, compared with the traditional on-off strategy, the optimized PID adaptive regulation strategy can quickly respond to the target operating temperature requirements of the fuel cell system, and enable the fuel cell to run at higher power under extreme working conditions. The battery system and vehicle performance have been greatly improved.

热管理是质子交换膜燃料电池汽车的关键技术之一,影响整车动力性能、经济性、安全以及寿命。针对传统热管理控制策略(开关策略)不足,提出了通过控制燃料电池节温器开度和风扇转速使燃料电池系统进出口水温维持在目标值,同时结合PID算法、过温处理策略以及多风扇转速分配策略,实现了燃料电池系统热管理系统快速响应。结果表明,相比于传统的开关策略,优化后的PID算法自适应调节策略能够快速响应燃料电池系统目标工作温度需求,并且使燃料电池能够在极端工况下以较大功率运行,对燃料电池系统以及整车性能有较大提升。

热管理是质子交换膜燃料电池汽车的关键技术之一,影响整车动力性能、经济性、安全以及寿命。针对传统热管理控制策略(开关策略)不足,提出了通过控制燃料电池节温器开度和风扇转速使燃料电池系统进出口水温维持在目标值,同时结合PID算法、过温处理策略以及多风扇转速分配策略,实现了燃料电池系统热管理系统快速响应。结果表明,相比于传统的开关策略,优化后的PID算法自适应调节策略能够快速响应燃料电池系统目标工作温度需求,并且使燃料电池能够在极端工况下以较大功率运行,对燃料电池系统以及整车性能有较大提升。

Thermal management is one of the key technologies of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) vehicles, which affects the power performance, fuel ecomomy, safety and life of the vehicle. In view of the shortcomings of the traditional thermal management control strategy (on-off strategy), this paper proposes to maintain the inlet and outlet water temperature of the fuel cell system at the target value by controlling the fuel cell thermostat opening and fan speed. The multi-fan speed distribution strategy and control strategy of over temperature treatment, together with PID realize the rapid response of the thermal management system of the fuel cell system. The results show that, compared with the traditional on-off strategy, the optimized PID adaptive regulation strategy can quickly respond to the target operating temperature requirements of the fuel cell system, and enable the fuel cell to run at higher power under extreme working conditions. The battery system and vehicle performance have been greatly improved.

氢燃料电池汽车具有绿色环保和续驶里程长的优势,是目前氢能应用的重要领域,在交通领域被视为绿色低碳交通的有效解决方案之一,同时也被认为是燃料电池众多应用中最先实现产业化的领域[1-3]。质子交换膜燃料电池汽车正处于由技术研发向商业化推广过渡的阶段,其中一些关键核心技术还不够成熟,仍有部分关键问题急需解决。其中,燃料电池热管理是燃料电池系统研究和开发的核心关键技术之一,是燃料电池汽车商业化面临的主要挑战之一[4-7]。众所周知,由于燃料电池的工作原理,燃料电池系统在工作时除了产生电能外,还产生一部分热能[2]。如果产生的热量不及时排掉,燃料电池系统内质子交换膜会出现脱水或膜穿孔现象,影响燃料电池汽车安全。同时,如果燃料电池系统内温度过低,会导致催化剂活性下降,燃料电池系统性能变差,因此必须要设计合理的燃料电池热管理策略。赵洪波等[5]通过流量同时跟随电流及功率方式和神经网络自抗扰方法2种热管理控制策略研究发现,燃料电池系统的最佳工作温度为70~80 ℃,冷却水进出口温差控制在5~7 ℃内。冯屹等[8]分析了影响燃料电池汽车氢安全的因素,并结合国外的相关资料,对氢燃料电池汽车的道路安全性进行了初步分析评估,研究发现如果热管理设计不合理,会造成燃料电池性能降低、寿命降低,甚至出现安全隐患。因此,燃料电池热管理也成为燃料电池汽车产业化过程中重要的关键技术[9]
目前,国内主流热管理系统控制策略为on-off型控制策略[10],即在一定温度区间给散热风扇标定一个或几个固定的目标转速或者占空比,燃料电池实际运行功率越高,产热量越高,温升越快,进而风扇的转速也会相应提高。on-off型控制策略中,当系统出现过温时,燃料电池功率会降低到比较低的点进行自我保护,防止过温故障再次发生。此方法在水冷质子交换膜燃料电池热管理中多次使用,但是传统的on-off策略具有风扇转速与所需散热量不能达到良好的动态平衡、环境适应性较差以及散热效果不佳的缺点,从而使燃料电池性能下降,不利于质子交换膜燃料电池汽车性能的提升。
基于上述考虑,本文针对传统热管理控制策略不足的问题,提出通过控制燃料电池水泵、节温器开度、风扇转速来控制燃料电池进出口水温平衡在目标值,同时结合PID算法、过温处理策略算法、多风扇转速分配算法,提出新的控制策略,实现热管理系统的快速响应,并进行了实车验证。
通常燃料电池热管理系统由节温器、过滤器、散热器、去离子罐、加热器和温度传感器等部件组成,如图1所示。
在燃料电池热管理系统中,通过循环水泵带动冷却液循环流动,使冷却液流过电堆,将电堆内热量带走。燃料电池大功率运行时,冷却液出堆后通过水泵流入散热器,通过冷却风扇的转动将热量散发,此为大循环回路。冷启动过程中冷却液流经正温度系数很大的半导体材料(Positive Temperature Coefficient, PTC)加热器加热后再进入电堆,此为小循环回路。同时在散热器排气路安装去离子罐,用于去除循环回路中的离子。此外,在电堆进口和出口分别安装水温传感器,以监测电堆进出口循环水温。
采用传统on-off策略时,散热风扇目标转速预先选定3个固定的转速。当燃料电池系统在不同功率点的实际电堆出口温度与目标温度的差值分别高出3 ℃、5 ℃和8 ℃(可标定)时,散热风扇的目标转速分别为1 000 r/min、2 000 r/min和3 000 r/min。
优化后的策略为典型的初始目标值加PID修正值算法,能够有效地应对环境温度变化及燃料电池系统在不同功率点时目标温度不同的需求。通过负反馈调节能够快速达到燃料电池系统的最佳工作温度且温度波动量极小,从而为燃料电池系统提供适宜的工作环境温度,提升了燃料电池的效率及寿命。
为了更好地应对燃料电池系统过温问题,保证燃料电池系统能够在散热器散热能力不足或故障情况下能够提供尽可能大的功率,进而保证整车安全性能及动力性能,本策略进行了过温处理策略优化,即当燃料电池系统发生过温时,燃料电池系统功率会降低到一个中低功率点(可标定),当系统过温故障消失一段时间(延时时间可标定)后,系统会自动进行小步长(步长可标定)功率爬升,试探性地进行功率加载,最终稳定到散热系统能够支撑的燃料电池系统最大功率输出点,保证燃料电池系统能够在最大输出功率点进行工作,保证整车动力性能。
当系统匹配多个风扇时,本策略采用了多风扇转速分配策略,保证组合风扇的转速调节带宽更大且功耗较低。策略详细描述如下:
(1)节温器控制策略
节温器目标开度根据电堆出堆水温的目标温度与实际温度差值做闭环控制,闭环控制的算法为通过电堆电流查表得出的节温器开度初始值与根据温度进行负反馈调节的修正值进行加和,具体策略模型如图2所示。
(2)风扇目标转速控制策略
风扇的目标转速为通过电堆电流及环境温度二维查表得出转速初始值与根据节温器开度的修正值相加之和,具体策略模型如图3所示。
(3)风扇转速分配策略
燃料电池系统控制器发送目标转速占空比,即脉冲宽度调制(Pulse Width Modulation, PWM),PWM为0%~30%对应一个低压散热风扇工作,当PWM>30%,将PWM平均分配2路,控制2个低压散热风扇工作。整体上风扇可调范围较宽且消耗功率较低。最终进行限幅处理,使最终风扇目标转速在风扇最大允许转速之内。
(4)过温处理策略
①燃料电池温度首次大于85 ℃(燃料电池过温温度,不同发动机参数不同)时,燃料电池功率降载至15 kW(标定量,不同燃料电池系统要求不一样)同时上报过温故障,且整车控制器(Vehicle Control Unit, VCU)上报仪表燃料电池故障,待温度小于83 ℃(温度可标定),且30 s(时间可标定)后再次响应VCU目标功率,同时仪表上燃料电池故障消失。
②当温度再次达到85 ℃时,燃料电池电流以5 A/s的速度降低,同时上报过温故障,且VCU上报仪表燃料电池故障,直至温度降至81 ℃,并保持该电流下对应的功率运行,同时仪表显示燃料电池故障消失。
③稳定2 min后燃料电池电流单次加载到10 A并判断风扇是否能达到最高允许转速,直到稳定到散热风扇最大转速后停止电流加载。
(1)on-off策略:风扇目标转速波动较大,燃料电池实际温度波动较大,不能达到较好的动态平衡,如图4所示。
(2)燃料电池系统过温后,执行降载关机命令,过温故障消失后功率恢复,反复波动循环,无过温后自适应功率调整策略。
(1)二维查表加PID调节算法:风扇目标转速波动较小,燃料电池实际温度基本无波动,系统温度达到一个良好的动态平衡,如图5所示。
(2)过温处理策略:燃料电池系统过温后能进行自适应缓慢爬升,稳定在散热最大散热能力(风扇转速最高)对应的功率点,如图6所示。
从试验结果可以看出,传统策略散热风扇转速波动较小且转速平稳,软件策略较简单且标定工作量较小。但是传统策略存在以下问题。
(1)散热风扇转速呈阶梯型变化,风扇的转速与当前所需散热量不能达到良好的动态平衡,导致水温会在小范围内持续波动,风扇在各转速点之间跳动,温度场的循环变化会对膜电极的寿命造成一定影响。
(2)当外界环境温度发生变化时,相同功率点下电堆散热量需求无较大变化,但由于气液温差变化较大导致散热器实际散热能力变化较大,夏季环境温度过高时,同样的风扇转速会造成散热量不足。冬季环境温度较低时,散热量过大,电堆温度和风扇的转速波动会更加剧烈,总体而言,传统的on-off策略环境适应性较差且不够智能。
(3)当由于散热系统的散热能力不足或散热器故障等原因引起燃料电池系统过温时,传统策略下燃料电池系统只能进行故障关机处理,不能在一个合适的功率点持续稳定运行,最终对整车动力性能甚至安全会造成一定程度的影响。
(4)当散热系统匹配多个风扇时,选择固定的功率点会使风扇转速波动步长较大,容易造成系统温度过高或过低,从而不能达到很好的散热效果。
通过优化后,策略具有如下优势。
(1)整体热管理控制策略能够快速响应燃料电池系统散热需求,且能够根据需求变化快速进行适应性调整,环境适应性较强。
(2)散热系统散热能力不满足散热需求,也能通过算法进行调整,充分利用散热系统能力保证燃料电池系统的最大功率输出。
(3)通过节温器和风扇的配合调节以及转速分配策略,在一定程度上减小了风扇转速波动频率,且在一定程度上降低了风扇目标转速,进而降低了低压风扇损耗,同时降低了整车低压功率消耗。
质子交换膜燃料电池汽车散热与传统汽车散热系统相比,对温度精度要求较高,且不同功率点对应的目标功率不一致。一个良好的控制策略不能只考虑控制目标的实现性,更应综合考虑系统及整车性能需求。燃料电池系统需要一种响应迅速、自适应调节的控制策略。传统的on-off策略风扇转速及燃料电池温度波动较大,过温后无功率稳定恢复,控制策略适应性较差,对燃料电池性能及寿命以及整车性能影响较大。而PID自适应调节策略能够快速响应燃料电池目标工作温度需求,且能够在极端环境下保证燃料电池能够以较大功率运行,对燃料电池系统及整车性能提升有较大优势。
