In order to meet the system performance requirements, lithium-ion batteries usually need to be used in groups in practical use, but there are inconsistency problems between different battery monomers, such as internal resistance, voltage and self-discharge rate. These differences will reduce the energy utilization of the battery pack, service life, and may jeopardize the safety of the battery system. Equalization technology is an effective means to solve this problem. The principle of equalization is analyzed in depth, and common topologies of equalization circuits are introduced in detail. The development status of equalization technology is sorted out, and the advantages and disadvantages of existing equalization topologies are analyzed. At the same time, the new technologies and solutions ememerging in recent years are studied. On the basis of analyzing the difficulties existing in the current equalization technology, the direction of future research and development is proposed.
