Based on a 2.0 L naturally aspirated Atkinson gasoline engine with a Low Pressure Exhaust Gas Recirculation (LP-EGR) system, the effects of different EGR and EGR coupling Variable Valve Timing (VVT) on combustion characteristics and performance were studied. The results show that the LP-EGR can effectively suppress knocking and reduce pumping loss, improve fuel thermal efficiency of Atkinson gasoline engine and reduce NOx emission. For the Best Thermal Efficiency (BTE) point of the engine, the effective fuel thermal efficiency can be improved by 7.4% due to 27% of EGR rate. At the medium load point, the combustion stability can gradually deteriorate with the increase of the EGR rate, and the effective fuel thermal efficiency increases first and then decreases. At the external characteristic point, EGR can lead to a decrease in charging efficiency and power. In addition, the study shows that VVT and EGR have a coupling effect on fuel consumption of Atkinson gasoline engine.

基于一台带有低压废气再循环(LP-EGR)系统的2.0 L自然吸气阿特金森(Atkinson)汽油机开展了不同废气再循环(EGR)率以及EGR与可变气门正时(VVT)耦合对发动机性能影响的试验研究。结果表明:LP-EGR可以抑制爆震,降低泵气损失,提高汽油机热效率,并减少NOx排放;在该发动机最高热效率点,设置27%的EGR率可使有效燃油消耗率改善7.4%;在中负荷工况点,随着EGR率的提高,燃烧稳定性逐渐变差,有效燃油消耗率先变好后变差;在外特性工况点,通入再循环废气导致充气效率下降,动力性下降。此外,研究发现,VVT与EGR对阿特金森汽油机燃油消耗率的影响存在耦合效应。

基于一台带有低压废气再循环(LP-EGR)系统的2.0 L自然吸气阿特金森(Atkinson)汽油机开展了不同废气再循环(EGR)率以及EGR与可变气门正时(VVT)耦合对发动机性能影响的试验研究。结果表明:LP-EGR可以抑制爆震,降低泵气损失,提高汽油机热效率,并减少NOx排放;在该发动机最高热效率点,设置27%的EGR率可使有效燃油消耗率改善7.4%;在中负荷工况点,随着EGR率的提高,燃烧稳定性逐渐变差,有效燃油消耗率先变好后变差;在外特性工况点,通入再循环废气导致充气效率下降,动力性下降。此外,研究发现,VVT与EGR对阿特金森汽油机燃油消耗率的影响存在耦合效应。

Based on a 2.0 L naturally aspirated Atkinson gasoline engine with a Low Pressure Exhaust Gas Recirculation (LP-EGR) system, the effects of different EGR and EGR coupling Variable Valve Timing (VVT) on combustion characteristics and performance were studied. The results show that the LP-EGR can effectively suppress knocking and reduce pumping loss, improve fuel thermal efficiency of Atkinson gasoline engine and reduce NOx emission. For the Best Thermal Efficiency (BTE) point of the engine, the effective fuel thermal efficiency can be improved by 7.4% due to 27% of EGR rate. At the medium load point, the combustion stability can gradually deteriorate with the increase of the EGR rate, and the effective fuel thermal efficiency increases first and then decreases. At the external characteristic point, EGR can lead to a decrease in charging efficiency and power. In addition, the study shows that VVT and EGR have a coupling effect on fuel consumption of Atkinson gasoline engine.

随着车辆燃油经济性和排放标准的日益严格,匹配混合动力车型的高热效率、低排放发动机成为目前的研究重点。小型化发动机提升压缩比可以有效改善燃油经济性,但会随之产生爆震倾向加剧和排气温度升高的问题[1-2]。阿特金森(Atkinson)循环发动机通过可变气门正时(Variable Valve Timing,VVT)技术,匹配优化的凸轮型线,使得发动机膨胀比大于压缩比,可以有效提升发动机热效率,降低泵气阻力,在混合动力汽油机中得到了广泛应用[3-4]
发动机废气再循环(Exhaust Gas Recirculation,EGR)技术能够降低燃烧温度,抑制爆震,提高燃油经济性,同时减少NOx排放量。此外,再循环废气的引入使得进气歧管真空度降低,从而加大了节气门的开度,降低了泵气损失[5-6]。对于自然吸气发动机,EGR取气位置可以分为三元催化器前取气和三元催化器后取气。后者所取废气压力较低,从此处取气的EGR方案为低压废气再循环(Low-Pressure Exhaust Gas Recirculation,LP-EGR)方案,其对管路和EGR阀的腐蚀更轻,排放也更友好,所取气体温度更低,EGR冷却器的冷却效果更好。因此,一般采用LP-EGR方案[7-8]。阿特金森(Atkinson)循环发动机匹配EGR以及其他先进燃烧技术能更进一步改善发动机的燃油经济性和排放水平。
本文通过一台带有LP-EGR系统的2.0 L自然吸气缸内直喷汽油发动机开展LP-EGR对阿特金森循环汽油机性能影响的试验研究。
本文的发动机为某款自主研发的2.0 L四缸四冲程缸内直喷自然吸气汽油发动机,喷油系统采用博世高压燃油共轨系统,最大共轨压力达35 MPa,采用LP-EGR方案,所取废气经EGR冷却器冷却后引入发动机进气歧管。试验发动机特征参数如表1所示,发动机台架试验布局如图1所示,EGR系统布置及EGR数模如图2图3所示。
发动机台架试验所用试验设备如表2所示,分别用于测量发动机转速、发动机燃油消耗率、发动机缸内瞬态压力,以及原始排放中CO、NOx、THC、O2等气体的浓度,燃烧分析仪用于对采集的缸压数据进行在线燃烧分析计算及储存。
本文对2 000 r/min和1 500 r/min的特征工况点及万有特性最低油耗点进行LP-EGR对阿特金森汽油机节油潜力的试验研究,工况点的选取如图4所示,测试燃料为辛烷值为92的汽油。试验过程中,保持进气温度在25±2.5 ℃范围内、发动机出水温度在90±2 ℃范围内、机油温度在90±5 ℃范围内。
通过CAE仿真及发动机硬件选型试验,综合考虑发动机油耗及性能,选定采用225°包角的进气凸轮轴与210°包角的排气凸轮轴,其最大气门升程分别为10.3 mm和9.0 mm,进、排气凸轮型线如图5所示。通过CAE仿真对缸盖进气道进行优化,提升进气道滚流比,对应缸内滚流比变化曲线如图6所示,高滚流比气道可以提升气流的脉动速度,有利于提高缸内燃烧速度,进一步提升热效率。
试验中,通过调节EGR阀开度改变EGR率,保持发动机过量空气系数为1,通过调整点火时刻调节燃烧相位,使得50%放热的曲轴转角AI50在压缩上止点后8° CA附近或爆震边界。为保证试验结果的可靠性和可重复性,待试验工况稳定后,重复3次性能测试。EGR率的定义为[9]

式中,REGR为EGR率;MEGR为再循环废气的质量流量;Mair为进气质量流量。
对于2 000 r/min转速下平均有效压力0.8 MPa工况点,EGR率对各性能的影响如图7所示。由图7a可知:发动机有效燃油消耗率(Brake Specific Fuel Consumption,BSFC)随着EGR率的增大而逐渐减小,当EGR率达到25%后趋于平稳;当EGR阀全开时,EGR率可达到27%,有效燃油消耗率降低至205 g/(kW·h),较无EGR改善约7.4%。随着EGR率的提高,节气门开度逐渐增大,泵气损失逐渐减小,平均指示压力的循环变动系数(Coefficient of Variation of IMEP,COVIMEP)有增大趋势,但未超过3%的限值。再循环废气的通入可降低燃烧室温度,改善爆震倾向,由图7b图7c可知:各缸燃烧重心AI50的平均值由压缩上止点后17° CA逐渐提前到8° CA,而后继续提高EGR率,点火角进一步提前,AI50仍可保持在最佳相位8° CA附近;此外,随着EGR率的提高,各缸燃烧不均匀性加剧,各缸AI50由EGR率为0时的相差2° CA增大到相差4.3° CA。
对于中等负荷1 500 r/min转速下平均有效压力0.6 MPa工况点,EGR率对各性能的影响如图8所示。由图8可知,随着EGR率的提高,发动机有效燃油消耗率先减小,而后在15% EGR率时出现拐点,继续增大EGR率,有效燃油消耗率开始逐渐增大。这是由于再循环废气的通入最初可以使得点火角逐渐提前至最佳燃烧相位,从而使有效燃油消耗率下降;随着EGR率的进一步提高,缸内燃烧不稳定性加剧,COVIMEP逐渐增大至超过3%限值,各缸燃烧一致性也逐渐变差,导致热效率降低,燃油经济性恶化。
保持节气门全开,过量空气系数为1,EGR率对于2 000 r/min外特性工况点燃油经济性及扭矩的影响如图9所示。相对于无EGR,当EGR阀全开时,发动机有效燃油消耗率虽然显著降低,但由于废气的通入使得发动机参与燃烧的新鲜空气量减少,充气效率降低,扭矩下降10 N·m以上。
综上,LP-EGR对阿特金森汽油机燃油经济性的影响规律如下:在一般情况下,随着EGR阀开度的增加,缸内氧气浓度及燃烧温度逐渐降低,发动机的燃烧速率下降,爆震倾向减弱,可以使点火角逐渐提前,提高发动机热效率,并且EGR率的增加使得节气门开度增加,泵气损失也在逐渐降低,可以进一步降低燃油消耗率;但EGR阀开度过大时,油气混合均匀性变差,燃烧不稳定性加剧,从而出现油耗恶化现象;在外特性或其他负荷较大的状况下,再循环废气的通入使得充气效率下降,动力性下降。为保证发动机的动力性能,通常在全负荷工况不通入再循环废气。因此,综合考虑阿特金森汽油机的经济性、动力性和排放性能,应对不同运行工况引入的再循环废气量进行合理控制。
NOx产生的条件为高温富氧,通过引入再循环废气,可以稀释混合气体中的氧气,降低燃烧温度,有效减少NOx的排放[10-11]。如图10所示,对于2 000 r/min转速下平均有效压力0.8 MPa工况点,随着EGR率的增大,NOx排放情况改善明显,同时由于缸内O2浓度及燃烧温度的降低,未燃HC逐渐增多。此外,在试验中,基于3个特征工况点,保持配气相位、喷油策略等其他控制参数不变,保持EGR阀开度分别为全关及最佳油耗开度,通过调整点火角使燃烧处于最佳相位,对比三元催化器前的原排气体浓度,再循环废气的通入对阿特金森循环汽油机NOx排放的改善效果显著,未燃HC有一定程度的增加,如图10~图12所示。
在目前汽油机台架性能开发及标定过程中,通常将EGR阀开度设为0,通过对进、排气VVT的扫描,综合燃油经济性、动力性、排放性能、燃烧稳定性及平顺性等得到最佳VVT相位,之后固定该相位进一步选择合适的EGR阀开度。然而,基于该方法得到的VVT相位并非一定是通入再循环废气后的最佳VVT相位,存在其他VVT相位使得通入再循环废气后对燃烧稳定性的容忍度更高或进排气压差更大,进而可通入更多的再循环废气。为进一步分析VVT结合EGR对发动机燃烧和燃油经济性的影响,对不同EGR率条件下VVT对燃烧、泵气损失及燃油消耗率的影响进行对比分析。
对于2 000 r/min转速下平均有效压力0.8 MPa工况点,分别保持EGR阀全关和全开进行VVT相位的扫描,调整点火角使得发动机处于最佳燃烧相位,其他控制参数保持不变。如图13图14所示,EGR阀全关时燃油消耗率最低的VVT相位为进气门开启(Intake Valve Open,IVO)时刻30° CA,排气门关闭(Exhaust Valve Close,EVC)时刻-10° CA,记为(30,-10),EGR阀全开时燃油消耗率最低的VVT相位为(-10,-20),两者不同。
该2 000 r/min转速0.8 MPa负荷工况下,EGR阀全关时进、排气压差随VVT的变化情况如图15所示,当VVT处于(-10,-20)时进、排气压差较(30,-10)相位高12 kPa,这意味着进气门早开使得进气歧管压力变小,可以通入更多的循环废气,EGR率变大,使得油耗改善更明显。
EGR阀全关和全开时AI50随VVT相位的变化如图16所示,由于(-10,-20)相位可以通入更多的再循环废气,使得燃烧重心AI50可以提前至压缩上止点后8° CA位置,而在(30,-10)相位,由于进排气压差小,通入的再循环废气量少,点火角无法进一步提前,AI50较无EGR仅提前3° CA,为10.5° CA,因而油耗改善不显著。对于该工况点,EGR率较VVT相位对爆震的影响更明显,从而影响最优AI50的分布区域,进而对油耗的影响更大。
VVT与外部EGR对油耗的影响存在耦合效应,具体取决于起主导作用的因素:通常,不带EGR时油耗最低的VVT相位通入再循环废气后油耗仍是最低的;燃烧相位占主导作用时,外部冷却EGR较VVT对爆震的改善更明显,进而对油耗的影响更大;泵气损失占主导作用时,存在与不通再循环废气时的最优VVT相位不同的其他位置,使得在该相位进排气压差更大,可引入的EGR率更高,进而对油耗的改善更明显。
a. 引入再循环废气可以有效抑制爆震,降低泵气损失,从而降低阿特金森汽油机的燃油消耗率,并减少NOx等有害气体的排放。
b. 针对该发动机最小油耗点,EGR阀全开时可使该点有效燃油消耗率改善7.2%。对于中负荷工况点,随着EGR率的提高,燃烧逐渐变得不稳定,有效燃油消耗率先减小后上升。对于外特性工况点,再循环废气的通入会导致充气效率下降,性能降低。
c. VVT与EGR对阿特金森汽油机油耗的影响存在耦合效应。存在与无EGR时的油耗最低VVT相位不同的其他配气相位,使得该位置可引入的再循环废气更多或对爆震的改善更明显,使得该位置的油耗更低。
