The innovation of flexible Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) technology in the automotive sector focuses on systematic breakthroughs in performance enhancement and form adaptability. This paper analyzes the topic from 3 perspectives: materials science, device engineering, and scenario-based applications. The content includes the multi-color emission mechanism of OLEDs, core packaging processes of flexible OLED devices, and the selection of flexible substrates. Automotive applications are explored, including transparent A-pillars, central control displays, and interactive tail lights. Additionally, 3 main technological challenges and future development trends are summarized.

1886年汽车问世以来,车用材料早期以金属材料为核心,而今转向智能化、轻量化及柔韧化材料的应用。柔性电子材料显著改善了汽车驾驶与乘坐体验[1]。柔性电子是将无机或有机器件附着于柔性基底上,形成电路的技术[2]。近年来,柔性电子材料经历了爆炸性增长,加速了其在汽车领域的应用[3]。作为汽车电子系统的核心组件,车载显示系统不仅是电动化、智能化及共享化等功能的交互界面,还体现了汽车在管理、监控、执行和测试等方面的技术水平。近年来,随着全球车载显示屏市场的扩张,有机发光二极管(Organic Light-Emitting Diode,OLED)技术在智能座舱中的应用日益广泛。根据Omdia的数据预测,到2030年, 配备3块或更多屏幕的新车型将超过20%,且将以每年6.5%的速度增长,届时全球车载显示屏出货量预计达到2.38亿片。在OLED产业中,柔性OLED显示系统凭借其大曲率、可折叠、可滑动、可卷曲以及形态自由的特点,在设计美学、视觉体验和用户互动方面为车内环境带来了新的变化。本文重点介绍了柔性OLED显示系统在汽车产业中的最新进展,包括OLED发光机理、柔性OLED器件及基板选择、车载应用及发展趋势。
自1987年OLED发明以来,因其具有低工作电压和高亮度的优势受到高度关注[4-5]。1992年,Heeger等第1次以塑料为衬底制备了可变形的柔性显示器[6]。OLED的发光机理为有机材料在电场作用下产生的电致发光效应。与传统的无机发光二极管(Light-Emitting Diode,LED)不同,OLED使用有机半导体材料作为发光核心。OLED为双注入型发光器件,其基本结构由多个薄层组成,通常包括电极、注入层、传输层以及发射层,如图1所示[7]。电极包括阳极和阴极,阳极通常为透明导电氧化物,目前常用氧化铟锡(Indium Tin Oxide,ITO)玻璃[8],阴极通常为功函数低的薄层金属,电极的性能决定了OLED导电效果[9-10]。注入层包括空穴注入层(Hole Injection Layer,HIL)和电子注入层(Electron Injection Layer,EIL),它们插入电极和发射层之间,增加空穴和电子的注入量[11]。传输层包括电子传输层(Electron Transport Layer,ETL)和空穴传输层(Hole Transport Layer,HTL)。ETL的作用主要是促进电子从阴极高效传输至发射层,并抑制空穴向阴极转移。HTL的主要作用为促进空穴传输至发射层。发射层(Emitting Material Layer,EML)是OLED的核心,一般发光材料应该具备较高的发光效率和良好的电子或空穴传输性能[12]。按化合物的分子结构,有机发光材料一般分为高分子聚合物与小分子有机化合物,EML决定了OLED的成膜性能与颜色纯度[13]
OLED发光过程如下:当电流通过时,阳极和阴极之间的电势差使电子和空穴由电极注入EML层。由于电子和空穴(电荷载流子)为相反的电荷,它们趋向于在有机层中相遇并发生复合,形成激子(Exciton)中间态。激子是由电子与空穴以束缚态结合形成的粒子,具有量子态的特征。激子分为单重激子(Singlet Exciton)和三重激子(Triplet Exciton),单重激子是激子的一种低能态,可直接发射光(荧光),三重激子是激子的一种高能态,通过某些方式可发射光(磷光)[14]。当电子与空穴复合形成激子后,激子会迅速由激发态回到基态,并以光的形式释放能量,即光发射(电致发光)。该发光过程基于有机材料的能带结构,不同的有机材料可发射不同波长(颜色)的光。单重激子通常释放较短波长的光(如蓝色或绿色光),且会迅速释放能量。三重激子的能量较低,因此所释放光的波长通常较长(如红色或黄色光)。当调整至适当的电压时,激发出亮光,产生红、绿、蓝3种基本色彩,3种色彩依据不同的电信号进行混合响应,呈现出不同颜色,从而实现有效成像,该方式被称为RGB象素独立发光[15]。除此之外,光色转换和彩色滤光膜也是常用的OLED全彩色化技术。面板的亮度、颜色和效率均与发光材料、结构以及激子的性质密切相关。
OLED器件中一旦有氧气或者水汽进入会降低器件寿命。因此,柔性OLED器件的寿命取决于柔性基板及封装技术的密封效果。基于这一原则,与传统硬质OLED采用玻璃基板作为支撑材料相比,柔性OLED显示技术一般会调整基板材料。
目前,柔性OLED的衬底材料主要分为超薄玻璃、金属薄片、纸质衬底和聚合物衬底[16]。超薄玻璃衬底水氧阻隔性能好、稳定性强且透明性佳,但柔韧性差,不抗冲击。金属衬底水氧阻隔性能好、稳定性强且柔韧性佳,但不透光。纸质衬底可降解,但热分解温度和机械强度较低,离实际应用还有较大差距[17]。聚合物衬底因具有透光性好和成本低的优势广受关注。然而,聚合物衬底的热稳定性较差,在高温制备过程中易发生变形,且对水和氧的阻隔性能较弱,因此,通常需要与隔水氧封装膜结合使用。常见的柔性聚合物衬底包括聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯(Polyethylene Terephthalate,PET)、聚萘二甲酸乙二醇酯(Polyethylene Naphthalate,PEN)、聚二甲基硅氧烷(Polydimethylsiloxane,PDMS)以及聚酰亚胺(Polyimide,PI)[16],目前,PI为最常用的衬底,其在高温下仍能保持较好的稳定性,具有优异的耐弯曲性、耐水解性、耐腐蚀性和耐辐射性。然而,PI的透明度较低,且其表面光滑度偏低,可能导致衬底上的多层薄膜产生缺陷,从而影响器件性能。
为弥补PI基板的局限,越来越多的研究开始集中于纺织基材[18]。纺织基材具备高柔韧性、变形性和可拉伸性,完全满足柔性OLED的制造要求。而纤维、纱线和纺织品纹理带来的表面粗糙度以及绝缘性是限制其应用的关键问题[19]。目前,已有许多关于采用不同的化学物质实现纤维和织物的平坦化和有效电导的报道,如碳纳米管、石墨烯、聚酯、尼龙、丝绸、织物等[20]。2013年,Woohyun等首次开发了基于软织物的高性能OLED,如图2所示,保留了裸织物的机械特性(弯曲长度和多向折痕),弯曲半径为5 mm的1 000次循环弯曲测试结果表明,其可靠性较高,实现了约8 cd/m2的高电流效率,且在70°的发射角下观察到清晰的绿色发射光[19]。2022年,Lee等开发了一种仅由集成的可互连OLED纤维组成的矩阵寻址机织织物,实现了大发射面积的纺织品,如图2所示[21]。其为一维磷光OLED像素阵列设计了解耦的光纤区域,具有排他性接触和独立寻址导体,通过将封装系统裁剪为可互连的OLED光纤像素实现了器件的长期耐久性。
尽管纺织基材OLED在研究和试验阶段取得了一些进展,但该技术尚未成熟,如在纺织品上实现更高效的能量传输、优化材料的柔性、提高屏幕的亮度和分辨率等。
利用柔性衬底作为支撑材料,赋予了显示器轻薄、可弯曲、耐震、抗干扰、形态可塑以及能适应各种曲面的独特优势,同时功耗也低于原有器件,有助于提升设备的续航能力。
车载中控显示屏是信息娱乐中心,也是车辆控制、导航、安全监控、智能助手等多项功能的集成平台。随着技术的进步,车载中控屏的功能和应用场景将进一步扩展。柔性OLED屏可在不牺牲显示效果的情况下弯曲或折叠,有利于车载中控屏的设计,能够实现更具创意的曲面设计或其他不规则形态,适应不同车型的仪表盘、中央控制台等空间布局。同时,柔性OLED屏具有更快的响应速度和更好的触控体验,可增强乘员与车载系统的互动感,提升用户体验。
目前,已有部分高端车型采用柔性OLED屏幕作为数字仪表盘。如图3所示,奔驰S级MBUX Hyperscreen中控显示系统采用了56英寸曲面OLED屏,横跨仪表盘和中控台,形成一体化超大屏幕。这种设计能够提供更加丰富直观的信息展示,柔性OLED可更好地适应车内的设计和布局。在2024年的北京国际车展上,红旗·国雅车型搭载了名为“国风柔性卷轴屏”的全球首款车载滑移卷曲OLED显示屏,用于中控台及后排娱乐系统(图3)。该屏幕具有更高的对比度、更广的视角和更快的响应速度,进一步提升了车主的数字体验。
除目前已上车应用外,柔性OLED在车用中控组件中仍不断发展。在CES 2024中,维信诺展示了柔性OLED全系列车载显示方案,采用维信诺14英寸柔性OLED显示模组,具有3 840×2 160的超高分辨率和1.8 mm的极窄边框,进一步提高了屏占比,支持屏下摄像、多点触控等。
A柱作为汽车结构中不可或缺的一部分,主要功能是提供防撞保护,增强车身结构的安全性。但A柱对驾驶员的视野存在一定遮挡,尤其是在低速行驶或转弯时,遮挡更为突出。驾驶员可能会因视野受限而无法及时察觉行驶路径中的障碍物或其他潜在危险,尤其是在左转弯时,遮挡可能会严重影响驾驶员视野。因此,研发人员设计了可视化透明A柱,利用后视镜处安装的高清摄像头实时采集车辆周围的环境影像,并通过4块柔性OLED显示屏将原本被A柱遮挡的视野盲区实时呈现在驾驶员眼前,极大减少了行驶过程中的视觉盲区,提升了行车安全性,如图4所示。
柔性OLED屏具有可弯折性及炫酷的3D效果,成为交互式尾灯设计的选择。柔性OLED技术能够独立控制每个发光分区的形状与激活状态,从而实现多样的图案组合且能够与尾灯造型完美贴合。与传统的汽车尾灯相比,其发光更加均匀,调节过程持续可变,同时简化了汽车覆盖件的冲压步骤以及电路布线步骤。
2013年,奥迪推出Swarm OLED概念车,OLED尾灯以动态形式点亮,转向灯效果为向转向侧流动,是柔性OLED在汽车交互尾灯中的首次尝试。2024年,奥迪A6 e-tron采用了二代数字柔性OLED尾灯,实现了车辆与周围环境的通信交互,进一步拓展了安全功能(图5)。除距离警示功能外,奥迪A6 e-tron新增了交互灯功能,以向其他道路使用者发出事故或故障预警。
柔性OLED使用的有机发光材料相较于无机材料在稳定性和耐久性上较为逊色。有机材料易受环境(如氧气、水蒸气、紫外线)影响,导致性能下降。如何提高发光材料的稳定性,尤其是防水防潮能力,仍需进一步研究。同时,柔性OLED显示面板的发光效率在高亮度情况下会随使用时间的增加而降低,需研发新型材料以延长使用寿命并提高能效。
与传统的刚性OLED相比,柔性OLED的制造工艺更复杂。柔性基板的处理、传输过程中的损伤、封装技术的应用等均提高了生产难度。首先,在制造过程中,尤其是在形成薄膜和精细图案化时,精度要求极高,精度不足会导致显示效果不良。其次,柔性OLED的封装必须做到防潮、防氧化,而柔性OLED结构的弯曲性提高了封装难度,常见的封装材料如薄膜封装技术,在保证防护性能的同时还要兼顾柔性和轻量化设计。
柔性OLED的成本受多种因素影响,包括制造工艺、材料选择、生产效率以及封装技术等。调研数据显示,随着整体技术成熟度的提高及需求量的增长,柔性OLED的价格有所下降。然而,与刚性OLED和液晶显示器(Liquid Crystal Display,LCD)相比,柔性OLED的成本仍然较高。根据埃信华迈(IHS)成本拆分数据,柔性OLED的柔性显示材料约占到总成本的30%,配套模组材料约占70%。未来可优化模组部分或寻找更经济高效的替代材料,存在较大的降本潜力。同时,随着良品率和量产能力的提升,柔性OLED的成本将显著降低。
卓越的显示效果是柔性OLED技术的最显著优势之一。OLED显示具有自发光特性,不需要背光源,因此可实现更薄的显示屏。同时,OLED显示能够提供更高的对比度、更广的色域和更丰富的颜色,带来更加清晰、真实的视觉效果,目前已应用于仪表盘、中央控制屏、后视镜等,未来可拓展至前风窗玻璃、车窗、B柱等显示区域,显著提升乘员的视觉体验。
柔性OLED支持触摸和动态显示,触控屏的范围增大有利于乘员通过触控、手势控制、语音命令等与车载信息系统交互。未来,柔性OLED屏幕可探索不同应用场景的动态布局,如驾驶时显示车速、导航信息,停车时显示周围环境的实时影像或车内娱乐信息等,提升智能化和灵活性。用户可更直观地调整空调、音乐、导航以及其他车载功能。随着自动驾驶技术的不断发展,车内交互界面的智能化功能将越来越多,柔性OLED屏幕可成为集成各种信息、功能和控制的多功能平台。
柔性OLED能够实现动态显示和自定义界面,主机厂可根据不同车型、驾驶模式或用户偏好定制和展示不同信息。如在不同的驾驶模式(如运动模式、节能模式)下自动切换车载仪表盘的显示内容。通过柔性OLED技术,汽车可提供更加个性化和互动性更强的驾驶体验。
与传统显示技术相比,柔性OLED技术在视觉效果和设计上具有很大优势,但在汽车行业的普及还面临一些挑战。首先,柔性OLED显示屏的成本较高,目前价格仍高于传统LCD或LED显示屏。其次,OLED屏幕的耐用性和稳定性(尤其是在温度变化和高湿度环境中)仍需提高,须确保在长时间使用中不出现烧屏、老化等问题。随着OLED技术的持续进步和成本的逐渐降低,柔性OLED显示屏有望在汽车中实现更广泛的应用。未来,柔性OLED显示技术将成为汽车提升用户体验、优化空间设计和提高安全性的关键技术。
