线上市场是数字经济时代最重要的市场模式,也是全球规模最大的市场场景,它突破了交易的时空限制,真正实现“买全球卖全球”的交易模式,极大地提升了贸易和商品的流通效率,提升资源的配置效率,进而提高城市的运行效率。那么,线上市场发展在提高城市运行效率的同时是否也能够实现降碳?其降碳机制与效应如何?利用2014—2021年中国288个城市的面板数据,检验了线上市场发展对城市碳排放强度的影响及作用机制。研究发现:线上市场发展能够显著促进城市碳排放降低,该结论在经过替换被解释变量、排除其他政策干扰等一系列稳健性检验后依然成立;机制分析表明,线上市场的发展通过提高资源配置效率、加速创新要素流动、优化产业结构和能源结构四条路径促进了城市碳排放降低;异质性分析表明,线上市场的降碳效应在非省际交界地区、未受经济增长目标约束地区、中西部地区更加显著。
