自20世纪60年代“莫霍计划”因资金缺乏被迫中止后，搁置了人类钻透完整海洋地壳，进入地幔的科学使命。尽管全球科学家力图尝试，但至今远未真正钻穿“莫霍面”——地壳与地幔的分界线。如今，这个任务即将由中国新一代深海钻探船“梦想号”接力完成。它在2024年正式服役，是目前全球唯一有望钻穿洋壳的最先进的科研钻探平台。
