With a statistical analysis of the patents, this paper analyzes the current situation and the trend of the biopharma development, the focuses and the hotspots of the technological development, to provide a reference for the industrial decision-making and policy-making. The analysis shows that the global biopharma development is quite mature, and the development of anti-cancer drugs is still a hot spot in recent years. The United States is the innovation representative and the patent applications in China increase in recent years, though the quality remains to be improved. Companies are still the main force in the drug research and development, and the scientific research institutions are constantly providing new impetus to the biopharma industry.
