With shift of focus from traditional offshore waters defence to open seas protection, the formation command information system of the maritime combat forces has changed fundamentally, reflecting more behavioral characteristics of an architecture than a system. This paper studies and analyzes five behavioral characteristics of the command information architecture of maritime composite formation, namely, independence of component units, uncertainty of architecture patterns evolution, variability of command and information process, emergent properties of components and whole architecture, and distributivity of deployment zones.
