With the surgical technique gradually coming to a mature stage, the postoperative complication rate is significantly reduced and the long-term survival outcome sees an encouraging up-trend. In selected patients such as those of acute liver failure, APOLT even offers an advantage over the orthotopic liver transplantation, which was regard as the standard for these diseases. The emergence of new types of APOLT such as the Domino APOLT and the Cross-Domino APOLT will significantly expand the donor source and the beneficiaries.
