宽带通信网包括高速光纤传输骨干网和宽带接入网（BAN），但两者发展极不平衡。尤其是BAN在保密性与私有性、成本与能耗、融合兼容性及速率与带宽等方面亟待突破。综述了BAN的研究进展，分析了BAN理论与技术的发展趋势及关键问题，探讨了增强BAN的保密性与私有性、降低BAN的成本及提升BAN的融合兼容性等问题。
