M. Edelman)认为的:"脑科学的知识将奠定即将到来的新时代的基础,这些知识使我们可以医治大量疾病,建造仿照脑功能的机器,对我们自己的本质和我们如何认识世界都会有更深刻的理解"。欧美发达国家也认识到了脑科学对人类发展的重要性,美国宣布20世纪最后10年为"脑的10年",欧共体宣布了"10年脑计划",日本也制定了20年的"脑时代"计划,中国科学家也通过各种渠道成立了脑科学实验室并开展相关研究。脑科学已经成为21世纪科学研究的前沿,成为世界各国科学研究的重要领域。,
