With the development of robotic technology and the need of ocean exploration, the Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) technology becomes very active research field all over the world. This paper presents the research and development status of current AUV technology. The key technologies in the AUV research field and future prospective of AUV technology are also introduced in the paper.
