    草地在维持生态平衡与畜牧业发展中发挥着关键作用。然而,在人类活动和气候变化的双重作用下,全球约50% 的草地出现不同程度退化。生物多样性是维持生态系统功能的基础。草地退化会显著改变植物与土壤生物多样性,进而影响生态系统功能。尽管如此,以往的研究主要关注未退化草地植物/土壤生物多样性与生态系统功能的关系,尚不清楚草地退化是否改变二者对生态系统功能的相对贡献。
    中国科学院植物研究所研究员杨元合团队联合西班牙巴塞罗那自治大学教授Josep Peñuelas、荷兰乌特勒支大学副教授Yann Hautier团队等,在青藏高原高寒草地开展了2600 km的样带调查,解析了草地退化对生物多样性与生态系统多功能性关系的影响机制。2025年11月10日,相关研究成果发表于《Nature Plants》。
    具体而言,其在高寒草原、高寒草甸和沼泽化草甸3种草地类型选取了44个样点,进行未退化和中度退化配对样方采样(共792个样方)。基于采集的植物和土壤样品,研究人员测定了植被生产力、土壤碳氮磷库、水分保持及有机质分解等20个生态系统功能指标。同时,基于样方调查与扩增子测序方法,研究人员量化了植物群落和土壤生物(包括细菌、真菌和原生生物)群落的多样性指标。
    结果发现,退化显著削弱了多数生态系统功能,平均下降幅度达20.3%,并导致生态系统多功能性整体显著降低。然而,植物、土壤细菌、真菌和原生生物的物种丰富度,以及土壤生物多样性均显著增加。
    通过进一步分析,研究人员发现草地退化改变了地上/地下多样性与生态系统多功能性之间的关系:草地退化后植物多样性对生态系统多功能性的影响减弱,而土壤生物多样性的作用增强,进而导致多样性-生态系统多功能性的关系由植物主导转变为微生物主导。究其原因,主要是草地退化后植物多样性的选择效应和互补效应减弱,土壤微生物多样性的互补效应增强所致。
    该项研究揭示了土壤微生物多样性在维持退化草地生态系统功能中的关键作用,为研发基于微生物菌剂恢复退化草地的生态修复技术提供了理论依据。
