It is also an important application of the global governance theory in the coastal zone field with space as the breakthrough point. 海岸带因其区位优势与丰富的自然资源，具备较大的开发价值，促使人口集聚，经济开发活动频繁，短期经济利益追求与长期生态环境保护之间的矛盾突出。海岸带空间治理是海洋强国背景下为了达到海岸带空间资源有效配置与多元主体利益平衡的公共管理过程，也是全球治理理论以空间为切入点在海岸带领域的重要应用。针对海岸带陆域土地开发与污水排放、近海渔业资源与灾害威胁等问题，研究了全球海岸带空间治理机制及其运行模式，包括激励、协调与约束3大类机制。
