XLPE cable insulation is prone to age under the long-term influence of electrical stress. In order to study the electrical ageing characteristics of XLPE cable, we conducted accelerated electrical ageing experiments on 10 kV XLPE cable, and the physic-chemical properties and electrical properties of the XLPE cable before and after ageing were investigated. The results show that the crystallinity of XLPE decreases significantly after electrical ageing, and the melting peak characteristic temperature of XLPE decreases slightly. The methylene content of XLPE increases, and carbon-carbon double bonds start to appear inside the material. PDC test results show that the polarization and depolarization current of the samples increase after electrical ageing, and the conductivity and low frequency dielectric loss of XLPE increase significantly. This is because the chemical bond break in XLPE molecular chain is broke by high-energy electron bombardment, resulting in the increase of short-chain molecules number and degradation of crystalline region, which ultimately decrease the physic-chemical and electrical properties of XLPE insulation material.

在电应力长期作用下,XLPE电缆易发生绝缘老化。为研究XLPE电缆的电老化特性,对10 kV XLPE电缆进行加速电老化实验,并对老化前后样本进行理化性能及介电性能测试。结果表明:电老化后XLPE结晶度明显降低,熔融峰特征温度出现小幅下降;XLPE亚甲基含量有所上升,材料内部出现碳碳双键;PDC测试结果表明,电老化后样品极化电流和去极化电流均有所上升,XLPE电导率和低频介质损耗明显增加。由此可知,高能电子撞击使XLPE分子链发生化学键断裂,从而造成小分子链数量增多以及结晶区破坏,进而导致材料的理化性能和介电性能下降。

在电应力长期作用下,XLPE电缆易发生绝缘老化。为研究XLPE电缆的电老化特性,对10 kV XLPE电缆进行加速电老化实验,并对老化前后样本进行理化性能及介电性能测试。结果表明:电老化后XLPE结晶度明显降低,熔融峰特征温度出现小幅下降;XLPE亚甲基含量有所上升,材料内部出现碳碳双键;PDC测试结果表明,电老化后样品极化电流和去极化电流均有所上升,XLPE电导率和低频介质损耗明显增加。由此可知,高能电子撞击使XLPE分子链发生化学键断裂,从而造成小分子链数量增多以及结晶区破坏,进而导致材料的理化性能和介电性能下降。

XLPE cable insulation is prone to age under the long-term influence of electrical stress. In order to study the electrical ageing characteristics of XLPE cable, we conducted accelerated electrical ageing experiments on 10 kV XLPE cable, and the physic-chemical properties and electrical properties of the XLPE cable before and after ageing were investigated. The results show that the crystallinity of XLPE decreases significantly after electrical ageing, and the melting peak characteristic temperature of XLPE decreases slightly. The methylene content of XLPE increases, and carbon-carbon double bonds start to appear inside the material. PDC test results show that the polarization and depolarization current of the samples increase after electrical ageing, and the conductivity and low frequency dielectric loss of XLPE increase significantly. This is because the chemical bond break in XLPE molecular chain is broke by high-energy electron bombardment, resulting in the increase of short-chain molecules number and degradation of crystalline region, which ultimately decrease the physic-chemical and electrical properties of XLPE insulation material.

交联聚乙烯(cross-linked polyethylene,XLPE)具有优异的介电性能、力学性能和耐热性能,作为电力电缆的绝缘材料在电力系统中得到广泛使用[1-2]。但XLPE电缆在运行过程中会受到电、热、机械、环境等应力的影响,致使绝缘逐渐老化,进而影响电网运行的安全性和稳定性[3-4]。因此,电缆在不同应力下的老化特性及表征手段受到国内外学者的广泛关注[5]
早期电缆多在较低的电压等级下运行,热应力是导致绝缘老化的主要原因。随着电缆输电电压等级的不断提高,电应力在XLPE绝缘老化过程中起到越来越重要的作用[6]。在电应力长期作用下,XLPE分子结构遭到破坏,其绝缘性能逐渐下降。若电缆中含有气隙或微孔等缺陷,电场会在电缆缺陷处畸变,导致缺陷处容易产生局部放电现象。局部放电进一步发展,在强电场或水分作用下,绝缘内部会形成电树或水树,对电缆绝缘造成严重破坏。尹毅等[7]研究表明,在聚乙烯电老化过程中存在着由于电荷复合引起的光破坏作用,加速聚乙烯分子链的断裂;陈智勇等[8]分别对XLPE进行电老化和水树老化,分析不同老化方式对材料特性的影响;刘云鹏等[9]对XLPE切片进行直流加速电老化实验,发现电老化导致绝缘同极性空间电荷注入现象增强;张怡[10]在空气和变压器油两种环境下对XLPE试样进行电-热联合老化实验,分析不同条件下XLPE的老化特性;陈祥朋等[11]对电缆样本分别进行电老化、热老化和电-热联合老化实验,其研究结果证实协同效应的存在。之前的研究大多围绕电应力与其他应力共同作用下XLPE的老化规律进行,对于电应力单独作用下XLPE微观结构的变化情况关注较少。然而,在多应力作用下,XLPE老化过程会受到多因素复合作用甚至多因素耦合作用的影响,因此,单一因素对XLPE老化过程的影响难以研究,这也导致单纯电应力作用下的XLPE材料介电性能及理化特性变化规律尚不明确。
为探究电应力单独作用下XLPE绝缘的老化特性,本研究对10 kV XLPE电缆进行加速电老化实验,通过反幂定律计算得到电缆正常工作电压下的使用寿命,并对老化后的电缆样本进行理化性能和介电性能测试,分析XLPE微观结构在强电场作用下的变化规律。
为获取不同老化程度的电缆样本,共制作15根电缆样本进行加速电老化实验。首先,将电缆(YJLV22-8.7/10-3×95)截成70 cm电缆段,并分别在电缆两端各剥除250 mm外半导电层,以防止老化实验中出现沿面闪络。其次,在样本两端各去除 1 cm绝缘露出缆芯作为高压输入端,并在缆芯上安装均压球。样本中间未剥除外半导电层的一段为老化区域,在此区域缠绕铜带作为接地端。随后,在外半导电层截断处安装应力控制管,防止老化时此处电应力过高发生严重的电场畸变。最后,将热缩管套在整个电缆样本外部。
对制作好的电缆样本施加30 kV工频交流电压,老化时间共160 h。加速电老化实验原理如图1所示。
为了解击穿样本不同区域的老化特性,在95 h发生击穿的样本老化区域和击穿点附近取样进行理化性能测试,并与未老化的XLPE绝缘进行比较。理化性能测试包括差示扫描量热法(differential scanning calorimetry,DSC)和红外光谱法(fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,FTIR)。DSC和FITR均可用来表征材料的微观结构变化情况。通过DCS测试可以得到被测样品的熔融温度、结晶度等信息,可以分析样品的晶体变化情况。通过对FTIR得到的光谱图进行分析,可大致判断有机物分子官能团的种类和数量。
采用瑞士梅特勒-托利多(METTLER TOLEDO)DSC1型差示扫描量热仪进行测试。测试在氮气氛围中进行,以10℃/min的升温速率将温度从30℃升至140℃,测量升温过程中热量的变化,得到样品的一次升温DSC曲线,样品质量为5~8 mg。
采用切片机沿电缆径向将XLPE绝缘切成厚约1 mm的薄片进行FTIR测试,测试位置为绝缘切片中部,测试仪器为美国热电Nicolet 6700型傅里叶红外光谱仪。
为分析样本在加速电老化实验中电气性能的变化规律,对不同老化时间和未击穿样本进行极化去极化电流(polarization and depolarization current,PDC)测试。
电缆的PDC测试系统由工控机、高压直流电源、保护电阻、高压真空开关S与Keithley皮安表组成,通过切换高压真空开关S实现样品的极化与去极化状态转变,其基本电路原理图如图2所示。当开关接S1时,电缆接入直流电压,绝缘开始极化;当开关接S2时,电缆被短接,进入去极化过程。当极化电压为电缆额定相电压的10%时就足以检测电缆内部的绝缘老化问题[12],因此本研究测试电压选取2 kV的直流电压,极化时间和去极化时间均设置为180 s,电流总采样时间为360 s,整个测试过程均在人工环境室内进行,并保持在同一温度(20℃)和湿度(53%)下进行。
加速电老化实验共进行160 h,除部分样本用于取样测试外,其余样本全部发生击穿。对击穿样本进行观察,发现击穿点均位于外半导电层截断处附近,而样本中部施加电场的区域并未发生击穿。究其原因,样本外半导电层截断处发生电场畸变,导致该处场强比样本老化区域的场强高。根据反幂定律[13],如式(1)所示。

式(1)中:E为电场强度;n为寿命指数;t为电场作用时间;C为常数,代表着电应力对绝缘材料造成的“累积损伤”值。从式(1)可知,电场强度E越高,在相同电场作用时间t内对样本造成的“累积损伤”值就越大。对同种材料,达到绝缘失效所需的“累积损伤”值是固定的,因此样本外半导电层截断处附近总是比老化区域先击穿。为更好研究XLPE电缆的老化特性,将样本分为老化区和击穿区,老化区为样本中间施加电压的部位,击穿区为样本外半导电层截断处附近的部位。分别对新电缆样本以及击穿样本的老化区、击穿区进行DSC测试和FTIR测试,以观察电缆样本老化后的理化性质。由于篇幅所限,本研究仅对老化95 h后的电缆样本老化区、击穿区和新电缆样本进行分析比对。
老化实验进行到85 h时第1根电缆样本发生击穿,到老化实验结束(160 h)时共有6根样本发生击穿,击穿时间如表1所示。
根据GB/T 29310—2012,可采用二参数威布尔分布对样本击穿时间进行分析。威布尔分布表达式如式(2)所示。

式(2)中:F(x)为样本累积失效概率;x为自变量,在此表示样本击穿时间;β为形状参数,其值越大,表示数据的分散性越小;α为尺度参数,在本实验中,α表示样本累积失效概率为63.2%时对应的击穿时间。
式(2)进行变形,得到式(3)

采用威布尔分布处理数据时,对失效概率F(x)的估算尤为重要。本研究中,由于失效样本数量较少(6个),根据文献[14],采用Ross分布函数来估算样本的失效概率,其表达式如式(4)所示。

Ross分布函数的含义是:按照击穿时间从小到大的顺序将样本排序并编号为ii=1,…,n),n代表样本的个数,F(in)表示编号为i的样本失效概率,即威布尔分布中的F(x)。
求得尺度参数α=105.4,形状参数β=9.3,样本击穿时间的威布尔分布如图3所示。由图3可知,取样本击穿概率为63.2%时的击穿时间105.4 h作为30 kV电压作用下电缆的绝缘失效时间,电缆在正常工作电压下的使用寿命可以按照式(5)进行计算。

式(5)中,t1表示电缆正常工作电压的使用寿命;t2表示电缆在加速老化实验中的绝缘失效时间,t2=105.4 h;U1U2分别表示电缆正常运行和电老化实验时所承受电压,U1=8.7 kV,U2=30 kV;n1n2分别代表电缆正常运行和电老化过程中的寿命指数,文献[15]研究表明,低电场作用下的寿命指数大于高电场作用下的寿命指数,取n1=12,n2=10。通过电老化实验得到10 kV电缆在正常工作电压下的使用寿命为37年。
样本外半导电层截断处电场发生畸变,导致该处电场高于样本老化区的电场,因此老化区XLPE绝缘的失效时间要长于击穿区XLPE绝缘的失效时间,由上述方法算出的电缆使用寿命比电缆实际使用寿命小。但考虑到实际电缆的接头处同样会发生电场畸变,因此上述结论仍然具有参考价值。
图4为新电缆样本和老化95 h电缆样本的老化区、击穿区DSC曲线。从图4中可以看出,新电缆样本和老化后电缆样本的DSC曲线中均有明显的熔融峰。其中,新电缆样本的熔融峰起始温度为101.6℃,终止温度为111.0℃,熔融温度(熔融峰峰值温度Tm)为108.7℃;老化样本老化区的熔融峰起始温度为96.6℃,终止温度为109.3℃,Tm为106.1℃;老化样本击穿区的熔融起始温度为98.5℃,终止温度为109.0℃,Tm为106.3℃。
熔融峰起始温度和熔融峰终止温度分别表示短分子链和长分子链的相关信息。熔融峰特征温度升高表示相关分子链数量增多,熔融峰特征温度降低则代表相关分子链数量减少[16]。相较于新电缆,老化后的电缆无论是老化区还是击穿区,其熔融峰起始温度和熔融峰终止温度均有不同程度的下降,表明在电应力作用下,XLPE分子发生断链、支化等现象,导致短分子链数量和长分子链数量均出现下降。对比老化区样本与击穿区样本可知,击穿区样本熔融峰起始温度高于老化区样本熔融峰起始温度,击穿区样本熔融峰终止温度低于老化区样本熔融峰终止温度。考虑到击穿区场强更高,可能原因是在较高的电应力作用下,部分长分子链断裂形成短分子链。但整体而言,熔融峰特征温度在老化前后变化幅度很小,说明在电应力作用下仅有少量的XLPE分子发生了断链现象。
通过DSC曲线还可以得到XLPE绝缘的结晶度,用以表征材料的老化程度,结晶度按照式(6)进行计算。

式(6)中:X为结晶度;ΔH为熔融焓;ΔH0为结晶度为100%时的熔融焓,取ΔH0=287.3 J/g[17]。电缆样本老化前后的结晶度如表2所示。
结晶度的大小表示材料中结晶部分所占比例。对XLPE而言,结晶度越高,其内部结构越完善;反之,其内部分子结构破坏越严重,老化程度更高。从表2中可以看出,老化后样本结晶度出现较为明显的下降,其中老化区绝缘结晶度相较于新电缆绝缘结晶度下降了24.8%,击穿区绝缘结晶度下降了34.1%。这是因为击穿区所受电应力更大,“积累损伤”更严重。同时对比图4中样本Tm可知,老化后XLPE绝缘熔融温度也出现了小幅下降。XLPE是半结晶态聚合物,内部结构由结晶区和无定形区组成,结晶度以及熔融温度的变化主要表征XLPE结晶部分的变化情况。通过以上分析可知,在加速电老化过程中,电应力破坏了分子的结晶区,XLPE内部发生了分子链断裂现象,导致熔融温度下降,结晶度降低。
通过红外光谱测试可以大致判断分子中所含官能团种类及含量,老化前后电缆样本的FTIR测试结果如图5所示。从图5可以看出,在波数为720、1 460、2 850、2 910 cm-1处出现了4个明显的吸收峰,分别对应亚甲基(-CH2-)的不同振动形式。同时在波数为1 080、1 600、1 720、3 400 cm-1处也存在着较小的吸收峰,分别对应醚键(-C-O-C-)伸缩振动吸收峰、碳碳双键(C=C)伸缩振动吸收峰、羰基(C=O)伸缩振动吸收峰和羟基(-OH)伸缩振动吸收峰[18]
对比老化前后样本红外光谱图中亚甲基吸收峰强度(以波数1 460 cm-1处亚甲基吸收峰为例),老化区和击穿区亚甲基吸收峰强度高于新电缆吸收峰强度,而击穿区亚甲基吸收峰强度则略低于老化区亚甲基吸收峰强度。在电应力、热应力等外力作用下,XLPE分子内部连接薄弱的地方会被破坏,在XLPE分子中,C-H键键能比C-C键键能小,因此C-H键更容易断裂[19]。在电应力作用下,XLPE分子末端或支链末端的甲基(-CH3)上C-H键最先断裂,导致亚甲基(-CH2-)数量增多。所以老化区亚甲基含量要高于新电缆亚甲基含量。与老化区相比,击穿区电应力更大,在C-H键断裂的同时也有部分C-C键断裂,即无规则断链。XLPE分子发生无规则断链以后,在C-C键断裂处形成自由基,部分自由基之间发生脱氢反应,生成碳碳双键[20]。脱氢反应使亚甲基数量有所下降,因此击穿区亚甲基含量低于老化区亚甲基含量。
醚键和羰基的出现表明XLPE绝缘发生了氧化[21],但二者的吸收峰强度都很弱,表明XLPE在电老化过程中并未发生严重氧化。在聚乙烯(PE)的交联过程中,过氧化二异丙苯(DCP)受热分解产生自由基,使得PE材料发生交联。而部分交联过程中的副产物会作为杂质残留在XLPE绝缘中,如苯乙酮、枯基醇和α-甲基苯乙烯等[22]。其中,枯基醇的特征官能团之一为羟基,因此在样本的红外光谱中出现了羟基吸收峰。而α-甲基苯乙烯的特征官能团之一为碳碳双键,因此样本的红外光谱中也同样出现了碳碳双键吸收峰。由图5可知,新电缆样本与击穿区样本红外光谱图中出现明显的碳碳双键吸收峰,而在老化区样本红外光谱图中,碳碳双键吸收峰强度却很弱。可能的原因是α-甲基苯乙烯作为交联的中间产物,其化学性质不稳定,在电场的作用下进一步转化为异丙基苯,而异丙基苯中不含碳碳双键,导致老化区碳碳双键吸收峰强度低于新电缆样本碳碳双键吸收峰强度。如前文所述,击穿区的电应力更大,在强电应力作用下部分C-C键发生断裂形成自由基,而部分自由基之间又发生脱氢反应生成C=C,导致击穿区C=C吸收峰强度提高。
分别对新电缆样本和老化50 h电缆样本、老化95 h电缆样本进行了PDC测试。根据式(5)计算出3种老化时间对应的电缆在正常工作电压下的运行时间分别为0年、18年和34年。考虑到电缆设计寿命一般为30年,因此,3种老化时间的电缆样本可分别代表处于“绝缘性能良好”、“老化比较严重”和“老化非常严重”3种不同老化状态的电缆。测试结果如图6所示。从图6可以看出,电老化后电缆样本极化电流和去极化电流均有所增大,并且老化时间越长,极化电流和去极化电流越大。为定量描述电老化后电缆样本的老化程度,采用电导率(σ)和0.1 Hz低频介质损耗因数(tanδ)来表征电缆老化状态。电导率和0.1 Hz低频介质损耗因数分别按式(7)式(8)计算[23]

式(7)中:σ0表示电导率;ε0表示真空介电常数;U0为极化电压;C0为被测样品的电容;ave(ipol)表示极化电流平均值;ave(idepol)表示去极化电流平均值。

式(8)中:ε″(ω)和ε′(ω)分别代表材料复介电常数的虚部和实部;σ0表示电导率;ε0表示真空介电常数;ε表示光频介电常数;ω为角频率;χ″(ω)和χ′(ω)分别表示复极化率的虚部和实部。
由式(7)~(8)计算得到不同老化时间样本的电导率和0.1 Hz低频介质损耗因数如表3所示。
表3可知,电老化后电缆样本的电导率和0.1 Hz低频介质损耗因数均发生了明显的变化,其中老化95 h电缆的电导率变为新电缆的30多倍,0.1 Hz低频介质损耗因数变为原来的17倍,材料介电性能严重下降。在强电场作用下,XLPE内部出现无规则断链现象,大量C-C键、C-H键断裂使分子内结晶区遭到破坏。XLPE材料晶区被破坏后,对载流子迁移的阻碍作用降低,载流子在分子内部的迁移速率增大,材料导电能力增强,因此电导率在电老化后急剧增长。材料介质损耗主要包含电导损耗和极化损耗,电老化后XLPE电导率上升,电导损耗也相应增加。同时在电应力作用下部分大分子链断裂产生的小分子链使XLPE极化介质损耗增加,因此老化后绝缘材料0.1 Hz低频介质损耗因数明显增大。
XLPE电缆在制造、运输及敷设过程中易出现气隙、杂质等缺陷,当电缆投入运行后,缺陷处由于电场分布不均,局部场强过高,易发生局部放电。局部放电使绝缘材料表面出现凹坑、针孔等新的缺陷,而新缺陷会使绝缘内部形成更多局部高场强区域及局部放电区域,导致上述过程重复发生[24]。在高场强或者水分作用下,XLPE绝缘内部还会产生电树或水树,对电缆绝缘造成更严重的破坏。同时,局部放电会电离周围空气或绝缘介质,从而产生大量小分子物质[25]。上述小分子物质对XLPE绝缘的影响体现在两方面:一方面小分子物质通过自由运动及渗透作用进入绝缘材料,使XLPE绝缘介质损耗增大,电阻率降低;另一方面部分小分子物质易与XLPE分子发生化学反应,使XLPE分子发生断链、支化等现象,降低了XLPE相对分子质量,导致绝缘材料的耐热性能及介电性能下降。
除局部放电外,电场中的带电粒子也会对XLPE绝缘造成破坏。在电场的长期作用下,部分电子将会从电场中获得能量与XLPE分子链发生碰撞。在高能电子长期撞击作用下,XLPE分子内部的部分化学键会发生断裂[26]。XLPE分子末端或支链末端的甲基(-CH3)上C-H键键能最低,因此该处的C-H键最先断裂,导致亚甲基(-CH2-)数量增多。如果电子获得的能量足够大,键能较高的C-C键也会发生断裂,导致XLPE分子发生断裂现象。XLPE断裂处会形成自由基,在一定条件下,自由基之间会发生脱氢反应形成碳碳双键[27]。XLPE分子链断裂以及产生碳碳双键的过程如图7所示。从图7可以看出,电子的撞击作用使得XLPE分子链长度变短,相对分子质量降低。同时这些高能电子又会破坏分子的晶体结构,使得XLPE内部结晶区域减少,无定形区增加。相较于结晶区,无定形区对电子运动的阻碍作用较低,电子更容易在电场中获得足够高的能量与XLPE分子链发生碰撞,使得分子内部更多的化学键发生断裂。
(1)在电应力作用下,XLPE内部结晶区遭到破坏,材料的物理化学性能降低。因此,电老化后XLPE结晶度明显减小,熔融峰特征温度出现小幅下降。红外光谱测试结果表明,仅在电应力作用下电缆的氧化现象不明显。
(2)随着老化时间的增加,XLPE的电导率和低频介质损耗因数明显上升。电场对XLPE分子链的破坏作用使得材料内部小分子链数量增多,XLPE的极化介质损耗增加,对载流子迁移运动的阻碍作用减弱,因此电老化后材料的介电性能大幅下降。
