In order to study the failure mechanism of transformer sealing ring in low temperature environment, we collected some failed rubber sealing rings of transformers in extremely cold area, and studied their microstructure and mechanical properties. The changes of micro morphology caused by low temperature and mechanical stress were characterized by scanning electron microscope, the changes of molecular chain structure and thermal motion of rubber samples were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry, and the changes of micro indentation hardness and reduced Young's modulus of rubber samples were characterized by non-destructive micron indentation test. The results show that due to the long-term joint action of low temperature, insulating oil, and mechanical stress, both the structure and arrangement of the molecular chain in nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) have changed, resulting in the obvious decrease of micro indentation hardness and reduced Young's modulus of the rubber, and the sealing effect loses.

为了研究低温环境下变压器密封圈的失效机理,收集了极寒地区变压器中失效的橡胶密封圈试样,并进行了微观结构和力学性能研究:利用扫描电子显微镜表征由于低温和机械应力共同作用导致的微观形貌变化,利用傅里叶变换红外光谱和差示扫描量热仪表征橡胶试样分子链结构和热运动的变化,通过无损微米压痕测试表征橡胶试样微米压痕硬度和简约杨氏模量的变化。结果表明:由于低温、绝缘油和机械压力的长期共同作用,丁腈橡胶(NBR)的分子链结构和排布均发生了变化,导致橡胶的微米压痕硬度和简约杨氏模量下降明显,密封作用丧失。

为了研究低温环境下变压器密封圈的失效机理,收集了极寒地区变压器中失效的橡胶密封圈试样,并进行了微观结构和力学性能研究:利用扫描电子显微镜表征由于低温和机械应力共同作用导致的微观形貌变化,利用傅里叶变换红外光谱和差示扫描量热仪表征橡胶试样分子链结构和热运动的变化,通过无损微米压痕测试表征橡胶试样微米压痕硬度和简约杨氏模量的变化。结果表明:由于低温、绝缘油和机械压力的长期共同作用,丁腈橡胶(NBR)的分子链结构和排布均发生了变化,导致橡胶的微米压痕硬度和简约杨氏模量下降明显,密封作用丧失。

In order to study the failure mechanism of transformer sealing ring in low temperature environment, we collected some failed rubber sealing rings of transformers in extremely cold area, and studied their microstructure and mechanical properties. The changes of micro morphology caused by low temperature and mechanical stress were characterized by scanning electron microscope, the changes of molecular chain structure and thermal motion of rubber samples were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry, and the changes of micro indentation hardness and reduced Young's modulus of rubber samples were characterized by non-destructive micron indentation test. The results show that due to the long-term joint action of low temperature, insulating oil, and mechanical stress, both the structure and arrangement of the molecular chain in nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) have changed, resulting in the obvious decrease of micro indentation hardness and reduced Young's modulus of the rubber, and the sealing effect loses.

在航空航天、石油、化工、电力等领域,为了防止工作介质的泄露,往往在设备的连接处采用不同材质、不同结构的密封件进行密封[1-2]。丁腈橡胶(NBR)是一种运用广泛的密封材料,具有高弹性、气密性良好、粘接性能优良等特点[3-4]。在复杂工况中,因温度、油介质和氧气等因素的共同作用,NBR易发生氧化反应和溶胀现象[5],导致其弹性下降、体积变化、出现裂纹直至失效。密封件的失效会导致气体、液体介质的渗漏,影响设备和系统的运行安全,因此,研究服役过程中NBR密封圈的失效机制和规律,对密封件的维护、更换及设备的运行安全有重要意义。
服役过程中NBR的老化机制一直是工程应用和科学研究关注的重要方面。在橡胶的老化寿命评估方面,多关注热老化、热-氧老化导致的硬度、断裂伸长率等力学性能的变化,然后基于加速热老化过程中的性能变化进行寿命预测。高温和氧气等老化因素会引发橡胶分子链发生氧化、断裂、交联等反应,形成局部分子链的重排布,导致橡胶性能下降,其中以力学性能下降最为明显[6]。高温下橡胶密封制品在应用过程中始终处于高弹态,依靠大分子链的热运动实现其体积的膨胀以实现密封作用。当温度低于橡胶的玻璃化转变温度(Tg)时,橡胶分子链的热运动减弱,结构和排布也会发生不可逆的变化,导致宏观性能发生变化[7]。而且,被密封的油、气介质会长期与橡胶接触,相互作用产生化学反应,影响橡胶的密封性能[8]。随着电力设备逐渐在低温环境下应用[9],橡胶类密封制品面临在更低的温度下和绝缘油、绝缘气体等共同作用,为了提高电力设备在极寒地区运行的稳定性,需要有效评估低温下橡胶密封圈的老化状态。在我国内蒙古通辽额勒顺、黑龙江漠河等高纬度低温地区的变电站,变压器运行温度可低至-50℃,橡胶密封制品在极寒温度和变压器油浸泡的服役环境中,常发生失效现象,进而影响设备的安全运行。目前相关的研究都是通过实验室人工加速老化,缺少针对实际服役环境中密封圈的测试与分析,且老化特征参数的获取仍依赖破坏性实验。
本研究选取在极寒地区实际运行的高压电力变压器用NBR密封圈为研究对象,其服役环境中包含低温、变压器油、水分等复杂因素,试样已经发生一定程度的不可逆损坏。利用扫描电子显微镜(SEM)、傅里叶变换红外光谱(FTIR)、差示扫描量热仪(DSC)等测试NBR密封圈的性能变化,分析其在低温和变压器油共同作用下的老化机制。
试样来源于内蒙古通辽额勒顺镇运行5年的66 kV主变压器的密封圈,密封圈年均工作温度为6.5℃,其中-40℃低温工作时间超过6 000 h。密封圈位于主变油联管蝶阀位置,已经发生损坏出现渗油,橡胶型号为NBR4005,丙烯腈含量为40%~45%。将相同批次的库存备件试样作为对照组进行测试与分析。本研究中损坏试样采用NBR-b表示,对照组全新备件试样采用NBR-n表示。
采用KEYENCE VE9800型扫描电子显微镜观测试样表面的形貌特征。由于试样表面电导率较低,导电性差,为防止试样表面在观测过程中发生烧蚀,观测前对试样表面进行喷金处理。
采用Thermo Nicolet iN10型红外光谱仪表征试样分子链特征基团的变化情况,由于试样的透光性较差,采用反射模式进行测试,波数范围为400~4 000 cm-1
采用DSC 822e型差示扫描量热仪表征试样分子链随温度变化的运动特性,取5~10 mg试样在氮气气氛中进行实验,吹扫气流量为60 mL/min。为了测试NBR的玻璃化转变过程,首先降温至 -100℃,然后以10℃/min的速率升温至25℃,记录温度变化过程中试样的热交换特性。
采用Bruker Hysitron TI980型纳米压痕仪进行测试。压痕测试过程中选用低载模式,选用标准的berkovich压头,样品裁剪成尺寸为10 mm×10 mm×8 mm的正方体,并选择相同位置进行实验,以位移作为控制信号,控制加载过程,测试分为加载-保载-卸载过程,时间分别为5、2、5 s,每组进行5次重复实验以获得简约杨氏模量和微米压痕硬度值。
图1为橡胶密封圈的SEM图。从图1(a)可见,损坏橡胶密封圈NBR-b试样表面呈现出凹凸不平的非连续状态,出现孔洞、空隙且有明显的颗粒状物质析出。从图1(b)可见,全新橡胶密封圈NBR-n表面连续、平整,没有明显的缺陷。
对比密封圈使用前后的微观形貌可以看出,在低温和应力的共同作用下,运行后NBR表面结构被破坏,出现了不可恢复的孔洞和缝隙,这是由于在压力和温度的作用下橡胶表面出现微裂纹,油介质和水分更容易侵入,使得橡胶溶胀,而且液体介质的侵入会溶解橡胶内的小分子添加剂,导致补强剂的析出和橡胶整体结构的破坏。
图2为NBR-b、NBR-n的FTIR谱图。从图2可以看出,3 000~2 650 cm-1处的吸收峰为-CH2不对称伸缩振动峰和-CH2的对称伸缩振动峰;1 570~1 400 cm-1处的吸收峰为-NH及-CN的伸缩振动和弯曲振动吸收峰;967 cm-1处为C=C的面外变形伸缩振动峰,这些均是NBR材料分子链结构的本征特征吸收峰。对比失效前后NBR密封圈的FTIR谱图,NBR-b的FTIR谱图中在3 500~3 000 cm-1处出现了-NH的特征吸收峰,在900 cm-1处出现了-OH的特征吸收峰,且-CN的特征吸收峰减弱。橡胶内部分子结构发生变化的可能原因在于,一方面-OH的出现说明试样内部有水分侵入,表面裂纹的形成会加速水分子入侵NBR-b试样;另一方面-CN的减少和-NH的出现则说明水分子的侵入促使部分氰基发生了部分水解,生成-NH基团[10]
为了研究NBR试样在失效前后的分子链排列及热运动特征,对试样进行DSC测试,NBR-b和NBR-n的DSC曲线如图3所示。在DSC曲线上玻璃化转变前后的基线上做延长,两线之间的垂直距离为阶差ΔJ,选择DSC曲线在ΔJ/2处所对应的温度为Tg。从图3可以看出,NBR-n的Tg为-55.3℃,NBR-b的Tg为-67.5℃,在极寒地区服役了5年的变压器用NBR密封圈的Tg下降了12.2℃。Tg代表无定型聚合物大分子链段自由运动的最低温度,Tg的变化说明NBR的分子链排列和热运动特征发生了变化。这是由于在极寒地区服役的变压器用NBR密封圈中侵入的绝缘油,在大分子链之间起到了与增塑剂类似的效果[11],分子链之间的自由体积增大,分子链自由移动的空间增大,降低了分子链缠绕的概率,从而导致Tg的降低。同时,水分子进入分子链间可能会引起分子链的位移且引发分子链断裂,使得分子链交联密度降低、分子链的缠绕概率降低、分子链的移动空间增大,从而导致Tg降低[12]
在橡胶材料的老化过程中,断裂伸长率和弹性变化都比较明显,但断裂伸长率测试是破坏性实验,因此对于老化状态的评估中硬度更具有可行性。硬度与压入模量密切相关,压入模量测试是一种无损检测技术,它具有无损、可在现场进行、测试结果可定量等优势。近年来,国内对压入模量在核电行业的应用进行了一系列研究,具有标准推荐的测试程序、测试数据及应用经验[13]
本研究的试样是实际服役的成品橡胶圈,成品橡胶密封圈的尺寸在进行拉伸实验时有所限制,因此采用对于试样形状尺寸无限制的微米压痕测试。将己知形状的压头在试样表面压入一定的深度,产生载荷和位移对应的关系,基于Oliver和Pharr理论[14-15]通过分析压痕实验所得的载荷-位移曲线获得材料的硬度,并由卸载曲线计算得到弹性模量。硬度值是衡量材料抵抗局部塑性变形能力的物理量,简约杨氏模量则是衡量橡胶恢复弹性形变的能力。由于测试方法的差异,微米压痕测试测得的简约杨氏模量不完全等于常规测试方法测得的弹性模量,硬度值亦不可与显微硬度、维氏硬度、洛氏硬度等进行换算。
图4为NBR的微米压痕测试结果。由图4可以看出,NBR-b的微米压痕硬度及简约杨氏模量相比于NBR-n均减小,其中微米压痕硬度减小了20%,简约杨氏模量减小了18.7%。
变压器用NBR密封圈在低温和变压器油的环境中长期运行时,在NBR表面会形成不断发展的微裂纹,导致水分、绝缘油等介质不断侵入。一方面,入侵橡胶内部的水分子会与-CN基团发生水解反应[16],导致NBR大分子结构发生变化;另一方面,入侵的非极性绝缘油具有溶剂效应,溶解NBR配方中小分子成分导致补强剂的析出及缺陷的扩大,而且绝缘油的入侵会导致NBR发生溶胀,导致大分子链排列发生变化[17]。橡胶大分子链段结构和排布的变化,与密封制品的黏弹性和硬度密切相关。综上所述,NBR分子链在低温和油性介质共同作用下发生了分子链排列及分子结构的变化,从而导致NBR力学性能下降,NBR密封件的密封性能失效。
(1)在极寒条件下服役的变压器用NBR密封圈,由于低温、机械应力、绝缘油等因素的共同作用,表面出现微裂纹和补强剂粒子的析出。
(2)失效的NBR密封圈橡胶的大分子链结构和排列都发生了变化,侵入的水分与-CN基团发生水解反应,生成-NH基团;绝缘油的侵入使得分子链间隔增大、自由空间增大,分子链的排列发生变化,表现为Tg降低。
(3)NBR密封圈在长期低温、水分和绝缘油、机械应力作用下,分子链的结构和排布发生变化,导致NBR的微米压痕硬度和简约杨氏模量降低,密封性能丧失。
