A high phosphorus content epoxy resin (DPOEP) was synthesized by using 2,5-dihydroxybenzyl(diphenyl)phosphine oxide (DPOHQ) and epichlorohydrin (ECH) as reactants, and then the structure of DPOEP was characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The curing reaction characteristics of DPOEP with the curing agent of active ester resin DFE617 was studied, and the effects of DPOEP content and phosphorus-containing epoxy resin structure on the flame-retardant performance, dielectric properties, and thermal stability of dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) epoxy resin curing system were investigated. The results show that the curing process of DPOEP/DFE617 system follows a first-order reaction. DPOEP can promote the carbonization of condensed phase in the DCPD epoxy resin/DFE617 system, and the limiting oxygen index of cured resin reaches 36.6%-38%, achieving V-0 rating in the UL94 test. The dielectric loss factor of the epoxy resin curing system decreases with the increase of DPOEP content. At a lower content of DPOEP, the epoxy resin cured material is halogen-free and flame retardant while maintaining good thermal properties.

以2,5-二羟苯基(二苯基)氧化膦(DPOHQ)和环氧氯丙烷(ECH)为反应原料,合成了一种高磷含量环氧树脂(DPOEP),并采用傅里叶变换红外光谱(FTIR)、核磁共振(NMR)对其结构进行了表征。以活性酯树脂(DFE617)为固化剂,探究了DPOEP的固化反应特性以及DPOEP添加量、含磷环氧树脂结构对双环戊二烯(DCPD)环氧树脂固化体系阻燃性能、介电性能、耐热性能的影响。结果表明:DPOEP/DFE617固化过程基本按一级反应进行。DPOEP能促进DCPD环氧树脂/DFE617体系凝聚相成炭,固化物的极限氧指数可达到36.6%~38.0%,达到UL94 V-0级。环氧树脂固化体系的介质损耗因数随着DPOEP添加量的增加而减小,且在较低添加量下实现环氧树脂固化材料的无卤化阻燃,同时保持良好的热性能。

以2,5-二羟苯基(二苯基)氧化膦(DPOHQ)和环氧氯丙烷(ECH)为反应原料,合成了一种高磷含量环氧树脂(DPOEP),并采用傅里叶变换红外光谱(FTIR)、核磁共振(NMR)对其结构进行了表征。以活性酯树脂(DFE617)为固化剂,探究了DPOEP的固化反应特性以及DPOEP添加量、含磷环氧树脂结构对双环戊二烯(DCPD)环氧树脂固化体系阻燃性能、介电性能、耐热性能的影响。结果表明:DPOEP/DFE617固化过程基本按一级反应进行。DPOEP能促进DCPD环氧树脂/DFE617体系凝聚相成炭,固化物的极限氧指数可达到36.6%~38.0%,达到UL94 V-0级。环氧树脂固化体系的介质损耗因数随着DPOEP添加量的增加而减小,且在较低添加量下实现环氧树脂固化材料的无卤化阻燃,同时保持良好的热性能。

A high phosphorus content epoxy resin (DPOEP) was synthesized by using 2,5-dihydroxybenzyl(diphenyl)phosphine oxide (DPOHQ) and epichlorohydrin (ECH) as reactants, and then the structure of DPOEP was characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The curing reaction characteristics of DPOEP with the curing agent of active ester resin DFE617 was studied, and the effects of DPOEP content and phosphorus-containing epoxy resin structure on the flame-retardant performance, dielectric properties, and thermal stability of dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) epoxy resin curing system were investigated. The results show that the curing process of DPOEP/DFE617 system follows a first-order reaction. DPOEP can promote the carbonization of condensed phase in the DCPD epoxy resin/DFE617 system, and the limiting oxygen index of cured resin reaches 36.6%-38%, achieving V-0 rating in the UL94 test. The dielectric loss factor of the epoxy resin curing system decreases with the increase of DPOEP content. At a lower content of DPOEP, the epoxy resin cured material is halogen-free and flame retardant while maintaining good thermal properties.

随着电子产业的高速发展,电子产品日益小型化、多功能化,其电子元器件在工作频率和集成度不断提高的情况下发热量越来越大,导致电子设备失火事故频发[1-2]。为了防止火灾发生,承载各种电子元器件的覆铜板必须满足防火安全要求。环氧树脂作为覆铜板领域通用的基体树脂之一,具有很强的反应活性、低的固化收缩率、优良的耐化学品性以及较高的力学性能[3]。然而环氧树脂易燃,氧指数仅为22%左右,极大地限制了其应用范围[4-5]。自2006年7月欧盟全面实施WEEE(废旧电子电气设备)和RoHS(电子电气设备中禁止使用某些有害物质)两大指令以来,覆铜板行业向无卤无铅化发展,要求电子电器用覆铜板不得使用含卤素阻燃的材料,此后含磷阻燃环氧树脂材料成为了覆铜板行业研究热点之一[6-10]
目前环氧树脂基覆铜板中大量使用的含磷阻燃剂主要为含磷酚醛树脂和含磷环氧树脂。含磷酚醛树脂磷含量高,具有极佳的阻燃效果,然而含磷酚醛树脂在环氧树脂固化过程中产生大量易吸水的强极性羟基,致使所制得的覆铜板介电性能变差,严重影响其在高频高速条件下的信号传输。含磷环氧树脂多由9,10-二氢-9-氧杂-10-磷杂菲-10-氧化物(简称DOPO)与基础环氧树脂反应所得,树脂磷含量较低,为达到要求的阻燃等级往往需要较大添加量,对覆铜板热性能造成不良影响[11-12]
为满足当前覆铜板无卤阻燃、综合性能优良的需求,本文以2,5-二羟苯基(二苯基)氧化膦为原料,采用一步法合成一种高磷含量环氧树脂,并将其与活性酯固化剂复配,探究高磷含量环氧树脂/活性酯固化剂体系的固化反应动力学,并对高磷环氧树脂在双环戊二烯环氧树脂固化体系中的热性能、介电性能、阻燃性能进行研究。

在装有电动搅拌器、温度计、回流冷凝管和滴液漏斗的四口瓶中依次加入DPOHQ、ECH、适量TEBA,搅拌升温至65℃,缓慢滴加一定浓度的NaOH水溶液,滴加完毕后维持温度反应4 h,静置分层,取得有机相后减压蒸馏出环氧氯丙烷。然后将所得产物溶于甲基异丁基酮中,水洗至甲基异丁基酮溶液pH值为7,减压蒸馏出甲基异丁基酮,得到浅黄色固体产品即高磷含量环氧树脂(简称DPOEP)(合成路线如图1所示)。其环氧当量为260 g/eq,根据环氧当量和分子结构计算得到磷含量理论值为7.6%。
表1所示的配比称量环氧树脂、活性酯固化剂DFE617、DMAP并混合均匀,放置在热压机中在200℃下压合1.5 h,然后在烘箱中于215℃下固化1.5 h,分别制得DCPD/DFE617固化物(CER-0)、DCPD/DPOEP/DFE617固化物(CER-1.5和CER-2.5)以及DCPD/DFE202/DFE617固化物(CER-1.1),CER-0、CER-1.5、CER-2.5、CER-1.1中的0、1.5、2.5、1.1分别表示树脂固化物中磷的质量分数为0、1.5%、2.5%、1.1%。
采用傅里叶变换红外光谱仪(Nicolet5700型,珀金埃尔默PE公司)测试样品的红外光谱(FTIR),采用KBr压片法,扫描波数范围为500~4 000 cm-1。采用核磁共振谱仪(Bruker Avance600型,瑞士布鲁克公司)进行核磁共振(NMR)测试,以氘代氯仿(CDCl3)为溶剂,TMS内标。采用差示扫描量热仪(Q20型,美国TA仪器公司)进行差示扫描量热(DSC)分析,氮气气氛,升温速率分别为5、10、15、20℃/min,扫描温度为40~300℃。采用热重分析仪(Discovery型,美国TA公司)进行热重分析(TGA),氮气气氛,升温速率为10℃/min,扫描范围为40~700℃。采用水平垂直燃烧测仪(CZF-3型,南京江宁分析测试有限公司),按照GB/T 2408—2008对试样进行垂直燃烧等级测试(UL 94)。采用氧指数测定仪(HC-2型,南京江宁分析仪器厂),按照GB/T 2406.1—2008进行极限氧指数(LOI)测试。采用矢量网络分析仪(P9373A型,是德科技)通过分离介质谐振腔(SPDR)法测试介电常数和介质损耗因数,测试频率为10 GHz。环氧当量按照GB/T 1677—2008中的盐酸-丙酮法进行测定。
DPOHQ和DPOEP红外光谱如图2所示。图2中,DPOHQ在3 145 cm-1处为酚羟基的伸缩振动峰,在1 609 cm-1和1 590 cm-1处为苯环骨架振动吸收峰,在1 206 cm-1处为P=O伸缩振动吸收峰。从图2可以看出,DPOHQ与ECH反应后3 145 cm-1处的酚羟基吸收峰消失,在3 413 cm-1处出现醇羟基吸收峰,在914 cm-1处出现环氧基的特征吸收峰,2 926 cm-1、2 876 cm-1处分别出现亚甲基和次甲基的伸缩振动吸收峰,表明DPOHQ已发生环氧化反应。
图3为DPOEP核磁共振氢谱1H NMR(400 MHz,CDCl3δ),化学位移归属:δ=7.79~7.68和δ=7.53~7.40为磷上两个苯环取代基,δ=4.27~4.23为仲羟基连接的碳氢,δ=3.72~3.29(m,2H)为环氧化过程形成的缩合结构上的亚甲基,δ=2.72~2.58和δ=2.32~2.28为环氧基。
图4为不同升温速率下DPOEP/活性酯体系的DSC曲线,采用非等温DSC方法对DPOEP/活性酯体系的固化反应过程进行探究[13-15]。从图4可以看出,DPOEP/活性酯体系热固化曲线有一个明显的放热峰,表明DPOEP与活性酯固化剂发生了固化反应。随着升温速率β的提高,树脂固化体系放热峰向高温方向移动。这是因为β提高,固化反应阶段单位时间内产生的热效应变大,产生的温度差随之增大。
将树脂固化放热峰的起始温度记为Ti、峰顶温度记为Tp、终点温度记为Td,分别关联树脂体系固化的凝胶化温度、固化温度和后处理温度。DPOEP/活性酯体系不同升温速率下的特征固化温度如表2所示。采用T-β外推法[16]TiTpTd进行回归分析将β外推至0,如图5所示,可求得近似的固化工艺温度:凝胶化温度为143℃、固化温度为160℃、后处理温度为175℃。
采用动态DSC曲线研究固化反应的动力学参数,通过推导Kissinger公式(式(1))、Ozawa公式(式(2))可计算DPOEP/活性酯体系固化反应的表观活化能Ea[17-18]。表观活化能的大小决定固化反应进行的难易程度。

以ln(β/TP2)对1/TP进行曲线拟合(如图6所示),通过斜率(-E/R)和截距(ln(AR/E)),可求得DPOEP/活性酯体系的表观活化能为68.09 kJ/mol。

以lnβ对1/TP作图并进行拟合(如图7所示),斜率为-1.051 6ΔE/R,由式(2)可计算得到DPOEP/活性酯体系的表观活化能为71.07 kJ/mol。两种方法求得的表观活化能较为接近,将两个数据平均可得到DPOEP/活性酯体系的平均表观活化能为69.58 kJ/mol。
聚合反应的反应级数可由Crane公式确定[19],如式(3)所示。
d(lnβ)d(1/Tp)=-EnR-2Tp
E/nR(其中R为气体常数,E为活化能)>>2Tp时,式(3)可变形为d(lnβ)/d(1/Tp)=-E/nR,由此计算得出DPOEP/活性酯体系的反应级数n=0.93,表明DPOEP/活性酯体系的基本按一级反应进行。
根据式(1)图6中拟合曲线的截距,可求得DPOEP/活性酯体系的表观指前因子A为2.35×107。由此得出DPOEP/活性酯体系的固化反应动力学方程如式(4)所示。

式(4)中:a为固化反应程度(即环氧基在固化过程随时间的反应量);T为固化温度;t为时间。
图8给出了环氧树脂/活性酯固化物的DSC曲线,固化物的玻璃化转变温度(Tg)列于表4。从图8表4可以看出,CER-0的Tg为171℃,引入高磷环氧树脂DPOEP会使固化物的Tg降低,CER-2.5的Tg降至156℃。这是因为DPOEP为二官能度结构,引入到DCPD/DFE617体系将降低固化物的交联密度。相比于DPOEP,引入DOPO改性环氧树脂(DFE202)使DCPD/DFE617体系Tg受损程度更大,其固化物Tg仅为140℃,表明在相同的环氧树脂替代量下,DPOEP/DCPD/DFE617体系具有较好的耐热性。DFE202使其固化物Tg大幅下降可能的原因是,DOPO改性环氧树脂时消耗了部分环氧基导致固化物交联密度下降,同时生成的DOPO支链削弱了分子间作用力。
图9为环氧树脂/活性酯固化物的TG和DTG 曲线,具体热失重数据列于表4。从图9表4可以看出,在DCPD/DFE617体系中引入含磷环氧树脂DPOEP或DFE202后,固化物的5%热失重温度(T5%)均有所降低,表明含磷环氧树脂会使固化物提前降解,其中DFE202使固化物T5%下降更大。DCPD/DFE617体系固化物降解过程分为3个阶段,各阶段对应的温度(Tmax)和最大降解速率(Rmax)分别为:410℃下13.53%/min、421℃下11.42%/min、434℃下10.28%/min。而当体系中引入含磷环氧树脂,含磷环氧树脂/DCPD/DFE617体系固化物降解过程分为两阶段,第一阶段和第二阶段的最大分解速率与DCPD/DFE617体系固化物相比降低,第二阶段最大分解速率对应的温度(Tmax2)和残炭量(CR)显著提高,表明含磷环氧树脂提前分解后促进凝聚相成炭。相同含磷环氧树脂添加量时,DFE202/DCPD/DFE617体系固化物尽管磷含量偏低,但热降解过程中Rmax1Rmax2反而较低,残留率较高。这是因为相比于DPOEP中C-P(=O)-C,DFE202中P-O-C键能较弱,更易分解而使成炭反应提前发生,从而降低Rmax1Rmax2,残留率提高。
表5为环氧树脂/活性酯固化物的极限氧指数(LOI)和垂直燃烧测试(UL94测试)结果。从表5可以看出,CER-0的LOI仅为22.3%,在燃烧过程中有熔滴现象,无阻燃等级。加入含磷环氧树脂后,由于树脂固化物凝聚相提前发生成炭反应,固化物阻燃性能明显提高,LOI达到36.6%~38.0%,在燃烧过程中无熔滴产生,UL 94测试达到V-0级。当DPOEP质量分数为36%时,固化物CER-1.5第一次和第二次离火后余焰燃烧时间(分别表示为t1t2)分别为3 s和5 s,与DFE202/DCPD/DFE617体系(DFE202质量分数为60%)固化物CER-1.1的测试结果相当,表明DPOEP在较低的添加量下即可达到DFE202/DCPD/DFE617体系固化物相同的阻燃效果。当DPOEP质量分数进一步提高到60%,固化物的阻燃性能略有提升,LOI达到38%,t1t2均缩短至1 s。
表6为环氧树脂/活性酯固化物的介电性能测试结果。从表6可以看出,DCPD/DFE617体系固化物CER-0的介电常数Dk为2.82,介质损耗因数Df为0.008 45,加入含磷环氧树脂DPOEP或DFE202后,固化物Dk增至2.86~2.92,变化较小,而Df下降明显,由0.008 45降低至0.005 81。这是因为含磷环氧树脂/DCPD/DFE617固化物分子结构中磷氧键使固化物分子极化率增大,从而导致Dk增大;同时磷连接的两个苯环取代基具有较大的空间位阻效应,减少界面极化,使Df大幅下降[20]。相同添加量下DPOEP/DCPD/DFE617固化物DkDf均优于DFE202/DCPD/DFE617固化物,Df差异可能与固化物磷含量有关。
(1)以2,5-二羟苯基(二苯基)氧化膦和环氧氯丙烷为反应原料成功合成出一种高磷含量环氧树脂DPOEP,DPOEP与活性酯树脂的固化过程基本按一级反应进行。
(2)DPOEP可明显降低DCPD苯酚环氧树脂/活性酯固化物体系的介质损耗,对介电常数影响较小。
(3)在DCPD苯酚环氧树脂/活性酯固化物体系中,与DOPO改性环氧树脂相比,本文研制的高磷含量环氧树脂DPOEP可在较低添加量下实现环氧树脂固化材料的无卤化阻燃,同时保持良好的热性能。
