Electron irradiation in the Geosynchronous orbit (GEO) will cause charge accumulation in aerospace insulating materials, which may cause electrostatic discharge of dielectric, while the electrostatic discharge will also affect the charge accumulation. In this paper, the joint measurement experiment of potential distribution and electrostatic discharge current was carried out on polyimide film materials under electron irradiation, and the surface charging and discharging process of polyimide film materials under the electronic irradiation of harsh GEO environment were studied. The results show that the surface potential of polyimide film is negative polarity under the electronic environment of 15 keV, 0.33 nA/cm2, the distribution patterns include unimodal type, multimodal type, crater type, and flat top type, and the unimodal type and multimodal type have the highest discharge number. Short-term multiple discharges will change the potential distribution pattern and make the transformed distribution pattern maintain for a long time. The potential distribution pattern will affect the wavefront time of discharge current signal, while the potential level will affect the half peak time of discharge current signal, and the half peak time of the current signal at low potential level is about 28% higher than that at high potential level.

地球同步轨道环境下电子辐照会使航天绝缘材料产生电荷积聚,可能引起介质静电放电,而静电放电也会影响电荷积聚情况。本文在电子辐照下对聚酰亚胺薄膜材料进行电位分布和静电放电电流联合测量实验,研究了地球同步轨道恶劣环境中电子辐照下聚酰亚胺薄膜材料的表面充放电过程。结果表明:15 keV、0.33 nA/cm2的电子环境下聚酰亚胺薄膜表面电位呈负极性,电位分布模式包括单峰型、多峰型、火山口型和平顶型,其中单峰型和多峰型分布模式的放电次数最多。短时多次放电会转变电位分布模式,并使转变后的电位分布模式在长时间内保持。电位分布模式会影响放电电流信号的波前时间,而电位水平会影响放电电流信号的半峰值时间,低电位水平下的电流信号半峰值时间比高电位水平下大约高28%。

地球同步轨道环境下电子辐照会使航天绝缘材料产生电荷积聚,可能引起介质静电放电,而静电放电也会影响电荷积聚情况。本文在电子辐照下对聚酰亚胺薄膜材料进行电位分布和静电放电电流联合测量实验,研究了地球同步轨道恶劣环境中电子辐照下聚酰亚胺薄膜材料的表面充放电过程。结果表明:15 keV、0.33 nA/cm2的电子环境下聚酰亚胺薄膜表面电位呈负极性,电位分布模式包括单峰型、多峰型、火山口型和平顶型,其中单峰型和多峰型分布模式的放电次数最多。短时多次放电会转变电位分布模式,并使转变后的电位分布模式在长时间内保持。电位分布模式会影响放电电流信号的波前时间,而电位水平会影响放电电流信号的半峰值时间,低电位水平下的电流信号半峰值时间比高电位水平下大约高28%。

Electron irradiation in the Geosynchronous orbit (GEO) will cause charge accumulation in aerospace insulating materials, which may cause electrostatic discharge of dielectric, while the electrostatic discharge will also affect the charge accumulation. In this paper, the joint measurement experiment of potential distribution and electrostatic discharge current was carried out on polyimide film materials under electron irradiation, and the surface charging and discharging process of polyimide film materials under the electronic irradiation of harsh GEO environment were studied. The results show that the surface potential of polyimide film is negative polarity under the electronic environment of 15 keV, 0.33 nA/cm2, the distribution patterns include unimodal type, multimodal type, crater type, and flat top type, and the unimodal type and multimodal type have the highest discharge number. Short-term multiple discharges will change the potential distribution pattern and make the transformed distribution pattern maintain for a long time. The potential distribution pattern will affect the wavefront time of discharge current signal, while the potential level will affect the half peak time of discharge current signal, and the half peak time of the current signal at low potential level is about 28% higher than that at high potential level.

大量在轨航天器运行报告记载了空间环境下航天绝缘材料受高能电子充电进而引发的介质静电放电现象[1-2]。文献[3]对156次航天器在轨异常情况进行了统计分析,发现45%的航天器异常是由电源系统故障造成的,其中太阳能电池阵列及其驱动组件的绝缘材料和绝缘结构最容易发生放电。
聚酰亚胺材料具有良好电绝缘性能、耐高温性能和抗老化性能,广泛应用于航天器太阳能电池板和热控组件等部分[4-10]。绝缘性能良好的绝缘材料在电子辐照下更容易积聚电荷,引发静电放电。而静电放电可直接导致电子设备故障,甚至是仪器、材料的破坏[11]。因此,亟须针对电子辐照下聚酰亚胺薄膜材料的充放电现象开展研究。
目前国外对航天器绝缘材料充放电现象的研究主要集中在对放电信号的观测上[12-15],CRRES卫星通过IDM探测器的检测,获得了放电与介质材料尺寸、性质的关系;J A ROTH[12]对詹姆斯韦伯望远镜的玻璃纤维和碳纤维材料在电子辐照下进行了静电放电实验,并从光学上观测到两种类型的放电现象;T M FLANAGAN等[13]模拟空间电子环境下电子通量对航天材料放电特性的影响,得出Kapton聚酰亚胺薄膜的放电峰值具有通量依赖性;K G BALMAIN等[15]通过实验研究,发现辐照条件下放电信号峰值与材料面积呈正比以及静电放电引起的材料损伤为丝状隧道和表面凹槽组合。而国内关于电子辐照下聚合物材料的表面充电特性已有了较成熟的实验与理论研究[16-21],LI G等[16]通过仿真和实验,认为在电子辐照下介质中电荷积聚会影响电子的入射过程;蒙志成等[19]利用研制的温度可控航天器介质材料表面带电综合实验系统,研究了温度、等离子体环境变化对航天器表面介质材料充电水平的影响。李维勤等[20]采用数值计算和实验测量相结合的方法,研究发现电子辐照下介质表面电位随电子束能量升高近似线性下降,随入射角增大而升高,而随样品厚度增大而略有下降。全荣辉等[21]通过引入介质放电电导率,在数值积分充电模型基础上建立了同时描述航天器介质内部充电和放电过程的新模型。
综上,现有研究一般通过表面电位测试研究材料的充电过程,通过放电电流探究材料的静电放电。绝缘材料的充放电现象包括充电和放电两个过程,二者相互影响,因此开展充放电联合测量能更好地对充放电现象进行完整揭示。此外,针对电子辐照下介质表面整体的电位分布模式以及电位分布模式与静电放电相互影响的实验研究较少。本研究对航天器用聚酰亚胺薄膜材料进行持续电子辐照,揭示电子辐照下其表面电位分布模式的变化并研究表面电位分布模式和放电电流的相互作用,以期为航天器的表面充放电风险评估与静电放电防护提供参考。
实验中所用聚酰亚胺薄膜(厚度为0.1 mm)是美国杜邦公司生产的,尺寸为5 cm×5 cm。实验前先用无水乙醇清洗,随后放入60℃真空干燥箱中去气烘干5 h,备用。
实验采用空间电子环境地面模拟实验系统模拟电子辐照环境下航天器材料的充放电过程。整个实验系统包括真空腔体、复合分子泵、真空计、温度控制系统、电子枪及其控制系统、表面电位测量装置和静电放电测量装置,如图1所示。其中电子枪用以模拟航天器介质材料空间带电的电子环境。实验系统主要参数:工作真空度为1×10-3 Pa;电子枪能量在0~50 keV范围内连续可调,束流密度在0~8 nA/cm2范围内连续可调;温度控制系统的控温范围为243~343 K;非接触式电位探头的测量范围为±20 kV。腔体真空度由ZDF-11A1型复合真空计检测。背电极经无感电阻接地,使用无源探头测量电阻和电压来检测放电时接地线电流的变化。无源探头测量结果由Tektronix示波器(DPO2012型,100 MHz,1 GS/s)接收。
在表面充放电实验过程中,真空腔体内布置如图2所示,电位探头(Trek 345ET型)沿测量轨迹进行非接触式电位测量,所测得电位由静电电位计(Trek 341B型,±20 kV)显示,并将数据经同轴电缆传送至Lecroy示波器(104MXi型,1 GHz,10 GS/s)。由于测量电位时需移开辐照源,以避免影响辐照下的电荷积聚和放电过程,实验过程中只能不定期对材料表面电位进行抽样测量。
高频脉冲电流在接地导线中传播时,导线除具有电阻外,还具有电容和电感,会产生欠阻尼震荡,具体方程如式(1)~(2)所示[22-24]

实验过程中接地导线采用镀锡绞线,导线截面积为2.5 mm2,导线电阻取值为1×10-2 Ω,导线电感取值为2 μH,导线与屏蔽体电容取值为6 nF,根据以上情况,求得接地导线电流I的通解如式(4)所示,式(4)αβ通过式(5)、(6)进行计算。

式(7)中:I0t为静电放电脉冲电流;Id为接地导线电流;ω是角频率;τ是时延。
根据上述推导可得静电放电产生的脉冲电流经过接地线后的阻尼振荡过程频率f式(8)所示。结合上文提到的参数,计算得出振荡频率计算值为1.45 MHz。

地球同步轨道(Geosynchronous orbit,GEO)的高度为35 786 km,卫星在该轨道的运行周期等于地球的自转周期(23小时56分4秒)。该轨道是应用卫星分布最密集的区域[25]。1984年NASA发布的《评估和控制航天器充电效应的设计指南》统计了地球同步轨道ATS-5、ATS-6、SCATHA(1981、1982)卫星已知的充电时间,将航天器充电最坏情况下的等离子体环境称为“最坏情况”,也称为恶劣环境。单麦克斯韦分布函数是描述等离子体环境常用的数学函数。对ATS-6遇到的恶劣环境利用单麦克斯韦分布拟合得出该环境下电子能量的平均值为14.42 keV,电子能量的均方根值为14.56 keV,束流密度约为0.33 nA/cm2[26]
聚酰亚胺材料被广泛用于航天器太阳能帆板的柔性基底材料以及太阳能帆板驱动机构的绝缘材料[27-28]。中国空间技术研究院研制的委内瑞拉一号通讯卫星(Venesat-1)运行于地球同步轨道。2009年全年Venesat-1卫星南北太阳能帆板驱动机构的温度范围为10~30℃[29]
综合上述数据,为研究地球同步轨道恶劣环境的电子辐照下聚酰亚胺薄膜材料表面的充放电过程,设定电子环境参数时电子能量选择为15 keV,束流密度选择为0.33 nA/cm2,环境温度选择为30℃,约303 K。
在15 keV、0.33 nA/cm2条件下对聚酰亚胺薄膜试样进行44 h电子辐照,温度维持在303 K,得到其表面总体电位测量结果如图3所示。图4为各时间段的电位分布模式统计。
图34看出,辐照期间聚酰亚胺薄膜表面电位分布整体呈负极性,共有4种分布模式包括单峰型、多峰型、火山口型和平顶型。在开始辐照时电位迅速上升,电位分布模式呈单峰型,辐照33 min时最高点电位为-3 000 V。在辐照146 min左右时,电位分布模式呈多峰型。辐照时间为171~1 480 min时,电位分布模式保持火山口型。辐照时间为1 480~1 570 min时,电位分布模式保持平顶型。辐照时间为1 570~2 640 min时,电位分布不断在平顶型和火山口型两者间转换,在此期间表面最高电位为-750 V,是辐照33 min时最高点电位的1/4。辐照后期聚酰亚胺薄膜表面电位明显低于辐照初期,这一趋势与文献[23]中持续电子辐照下介质表面电位变化一致。
从辐照171 min到1 480 min期间电位分布模式保持为火山口型,保持了1 309 min,占实验时长的49.58%。图5为辐照1 100~1 300 min过程中的电位分布变化图。从图5可以看出,电位分布存在整体波动,但电位分布模式保持为火山口型,未发生模式的转变。
其次稳定的是平顶型,连续保持了90 min。平顶型同一时刻边缘(12 mm)与中心(0 mm)电位差 ∆U的绝对值小于50 V,如表1所示。
上文对接地导线等效参数电阻、电容和电感引起的高频脉冲电流阻尼振荡过程进行了描述和分析,图6Id为实验测得的接地导线电流,插图为对Id傅里叶变换得出的频谱图,主频为1.425 MHz,其值与计算值相近。根据式(7)可知对Id去除阻尼振荡过程后即为放电引起的高频脉冲电流I0图6I0下降部分接近于指数形式,缓慢下降。对I0的时域波形参数进行提取如图6所示,其中T1为波前时间,T2为半峰值时间。
实验过程中静电放电脉冲电流信号随测试时间的分布情况如图7所示。从图7可知,辐照过程中检测到放电电流信号的时段主要有时段I(0~54 min)、时段II(160~171 min)、时段III(1 381~1 417 min)、时段IV(1 507~1 852 min)。其余时间均未捕捉到静电放电脉冲电流信号。
对各时段放电电流信号的时域特征参数进行统计,结果如表2所示。从表2可知,试样在44 h的电子辐照过程中共捕捉到35次放电电流信号。其中0~171 min时段的放电次数最多,共28次,占总放电次数的80%。时段II(160~171 min)的放电间隔时间最短,时段IV(1 507~1 852 min)的放电间隔时间最长,达到86.25 min/次。静电放电脉冲电流信号波前时间(T1)和半峰值时间(T2)均属于微秒级。波前时间随辐照时间增加呈先减小后增大的趋势,而半峰值时间随辐照时间增加逐渐增大,其中信号半峰值时间在低电位水平下比高电位水平下大约高28%。
短时间多次放电会造成电位分布模式的转变。图8为辐照140~171 min时的电位测量结果。从图8可以看出,在辐照160~171 min期间捕捉到5次放电信号。在160、164、165 min的放电发生后在距试样中心0 mm的区域出现电位跌落,相较上一次电位测量结果的跌落电压分别为153、159、159 V。在168 min和171 min的放电发生后,试样表面距中心10 mm内出现电位跌落,跌落电压分别为698 V、835 V。多次放电使表面电位分布模式由负极性多峰型向负极性火山口型转变。
图9为辐照1 381~1 480 min时的电位测量结果。从图9可以看出,在1 381、1 381.5、1 417 min处检测到了放电电流信号。在1 380~1 470 min期间火山口边缘(距中心12 mm)电位连续下降,边缘总跌落电压为1 630 V。同一时刻边缘与中心电位差由-1 211.1 V下降到-37.5 V。电位分布模式逐渐由负极性火山口型转变为负极性平顶型。这是由于一方面辐照下的介质放电会造成电位跌落[14];另一方面辐照下介质的放电会产生微通道,并且微通道会逐渐发展[30-31],累积后形成稳定的电荷泄漏通道,使得电位跌落。
图10(a)(b)分别为辐照171 min和1 470 min前后电位分布模式转换前后电场和电子运动方向对比。从图10(a)可以看出,辐照171 min前后0~12 mm区域切向电场方向反向,促使电子运动也反向,电子由12 mm位置向0 mm位置运动。随后电子经由连续多次放电形成的微通道泄漏。从图10(b)可以看出,辐照1 470 mins前后放电造成12 mm位置电位跌落,阻碍表面电子向外运动的势垒减弱,电子向试样边缘运动,使得边缘电位由-253 V变为-438 V,电子从边缘泄漏。微通道的形成和电场的改变是连续放电后电位分布模式长时间保持稳定的原因。
因此,认为短时间连续放电会造成电位分布模式的转变,并使得转变后的分布模式在长时间内保持。
从持续辐照下表面电位测量结果中可以得出,距中心12 mm区域长期存在负电位高峰,其会阻碍电子向边缘泄漏。文献[11]研究发现,使用离心法制备材料过程中会对液态基体与填料颗粒的混合物施加离心力,通过控制离心力的大小与时间等参数可形成具有梯度变化的填料浓度,最终获得功能梯度材料。因此参考本文中电位分布情况在聚酰亚胺薄膜制备过程中采用离心法使材料电导率与电位呈正向分布,可能避免电位高峰长期存在。
从前文可知,时段I电位分布模式最初为单峰型,时段II为多峰型,时段III为火山口型。单峰型的电位跌落位置在距中心8 mm处;多峰型电位跌落位置在距中心0 mm处;火山口型电位跌落位置在距中心12 mm处。
入射电子在介质中的射程主要和入射电子的能量和材料的密度相关,可以通过Weber半经验公式计算[32],如式(9)所示。

式(9)中:R是电子在材料中的射程;αβγ取值分别为0.55 g/(cm2·MeV)、0.984 1 MeV-1、3 MeV-1E0是电子初始能量;ρ是介质的密度。
通过式(9)计算得到该辐照条件下聚酰亚胺薄膜表面的电荷沉积层厚度为3 μm左右,而实验过程中聚酰亚胺薄膜表面电位最高为-3 kV左右,相应的法向场强约为30 kV/mm,可知该辐照条件下由电荷积聚引起的场强畸变远小于聚酰亚胺材料的电气强度(375 kV/mm)。
文献[33]描述了介质表面电弧放电数学模型,图11为介质表面电弧放电示意图,其中表面电弧放电电流信号波前时间表达式为式(10)。从式(10)可知,表面电弧放电电流脉冲波前时间与l呈正相关。

式(10)中:η是碰撞系数;k是相对介电常数;W是电子能量;l是放电点与接地点弧道长度,如图11所示;βλζ取值分别为0.1~1.0、0.1、18~22。
本研究实验过程中检测到放电信号的时段I、II、III电位跌落位置分别距试样中心8、0、12 mm,相对应的电位跌落点与接地点的直线距离d1d2d3分别为26.25、25.00、27.73 mm,其中时段III电位跌落位置与接地点的直线距离d3的示意图如图12所示。同时由表2得出各时段放电脉冲信号的波前时间从小到大依次为T1T1T1,可以得出15 keV、0.33 nA/cm2电子辐照下聚酰亚胺薄膜的静电放电信号波前时间与电位跌落位置与接地点的直线距离d呈正相关。同时该条件下电荷积聚引起的场强畸变远小于聚酰亚胺的电气强度。因此认为15 keV、0.33 nA/cm2电子辐照条件下聚酰亚胺薄膜表面静电放电的放电类型为表面电弧放电。同时也可以认为电位分布模式的改变影响了易放电点位置,从而改变了静电放电电流信号的波前时间。
持续辐照下,时段I和时段II聚酰亚胺薄膜的表面电位均为-3 kV左右,最大切向电位梯度均在15 kV/mm以上,电位水平相近。而时段III的最高电位为-750 V左右,整体电位水平较低。时段III的T2比时段I、II段要长,信号半峰值时间在低电位水平下比高电位水平下大约高28%。
本文通过模拟空间电子环境,对电子辐照下聚酰亚胺薄膜表面的电位分布和静电放电信号进行测量,主要得到以下结论:
(1)15 keV、0.33 nA/cm2的电子环境下聚酰亚胺薄膜表面电位总体呈负极性,电位分布有4种模式,包括单峰型、多峰型、火山口型和平顶型。其中火山口型电位分布模式较稳定,平顶型分布模式的最大电位差最小,山峰型和多峰型分布模式的放电次数最多,共28次,占总数的80%。
(2)短时间多次放电会造成电位分布模式转变,并使转变后的分布模式在长时间内保持。
(3)电位分布模式会影响放电电流信号的波前时间,电位水平会影响放电电流信号的半峰值时间。因此在轨过程中可以通过分析放电电流信号的波前时间和半峰值时间确定放电位置与放电前电位水平。
