A halogen-free flame retardant unsaturated polyester insulating impregnating resin was prepared by introducing DOPO into unsaturated polyester. The effect of adding flame retardant on the properties of the resin were analyzed by infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and flame retardancy experiment. The results show that the addition conversion rate of DOPO can be improved by using methyl tetrahydrophthalic anhydride (MTHPA) as the carrier to react with DOPO first and then with maleic anhydride (MA). The prepared resin is uniform, transparent after curing, and has good flame retardance, which can reach UL94 V0 level. With the increase of phosphorus content, the thermal stability of resin decreases, and the optimal phosphorus content is about 2.7%. When the molar ratio of unsaturated acid to saturated acid is 1∶1 to 1.5∶1 and using the compound initiation polymerization system, the resin has good reactivity and storage stability.

将无卤阻燃剂DOPO引入到不饱和聚酯中制备得到无卤阻燃不饱和聚酯绝缘浸渍树脂,并通过红外光谱、热重测试及阻燃性能实验分析加入阻燃剂对树脂各项性能的影响。结果表明:采用MTHPA作为载体,将DOPO先与甲基四氢苯酐(MTHPA)反应,再与顺丁烯二酸酐(MA)发生加成反应,可以提高DOPO的加成转化率,树脂均匀,固化后透明,阻燃性好,阻燃等级达到UL94 V0级;随着磷含量的提高,树脂的热稳定性下降,磷含量控制在2.7%左右较为合适;当不饱和酸与饱和酸的摩尔比为1∶1至1.5∶1,同时采用复配引发阻聚体系时,树脂具有较好的反应活性和存放稳定性。

将无卤阻燃剂DOPO引入到不饱和聚酯中制备得到无卤阻燃不饱和聚酯绝缘浸渍树脂,并通过红外光谱、热重测试及阻燃性能实验分析加入阻燃剂对树脂各项性能的影响。结果表明:采用MTHPA作为载体,将DOPO先与甲基四氢苯酐(MTHPA)反应,再与顺丁烯二酸酐(MA)发生加成反应,可以提高DOPO的加成转化率,树脂均匀,固化后透明,阻燃性好,阻燃等级达到UL94 V0级;随着磷含量的提高,树脂的热稳定性下降,磷含量控制在2.7%左右较为合适;当不饱和酸与饱和酸的摩尔比为1∶1至1.5∶1,同时采用复配引发阻聚体系时,树脂具有较好的反应活性和存放稳定性。

A halogen-free flame retardant unsaturated polyester insulating impregnating resin was prepared by introducing DOPO into unsaturated polyester. The effect of adding flame retardant on the properties of the resin were analyzed by infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and flame retardancy experiment. The results show that the addition conversion rate of DOPO can be improved by using methyl tetrahydrophthalic anhydride (MTHPA) as the carrier to react with DOPO first and then with maleic anhydride (MA). The prepared resin is uniform, transparent after curing, and has good flame retardance, which can reach UL94 V0 level. With the increase of phosphorus content, the thermal stability of resin decreases, and the optimal phosphorus content is about 2.7%. When the molar ratio of unsaturated acid to saturated acid is 1∶1 to 1.5∶1 and using the compound initiation polymerization system, the resin has good reactivity and storage stability.

在现有的浸渍树脂体系中,不饱和聚酯树脂(UPR)与环氧树脂具有原料易得、价格相对低廉、制备工艺简单等特点,市场占有率在80%以上。其中UPR是由不饱和二元酸酐、饱和二元酸酐、二元醇经过高温脱水缩聚反应制得,是热固性树脂中重要的一类,因其具有良好的工艺性能、力学性能及电气性能等优点,被广泛应用于船舶、高铁、汽车、电气电子及国防工业等制造领域[1-3]。然而,和绝大多数的聚合物一样,UPR属于热敏性树脂,氧指数在19%左右,具有可燃性和易燃性,燃烧时会产生烟尘和有毒气体,从而造成人员伤亡和经济损失。为了使UPR具备阻燃性能,扩大其应用领域,一般需要对其进行改性,提高氧指数,达到阻燃目的[4-6]。阻燃剂9,10-二氢-9-氧杂-10-磷杂菲-10-氧化物(DOPO)属于磷系阻燃剂的一种,其分子结构中的磷带有活泼氢,可以与不饱和化合物进行加成,进而可以改善聚合物的阻燃性能和热稳定性[7-8]。阻燃作用中,主要以气相阻燃机理为主,燃烧分解过程中不会产生有毒气体,添加少量的DOPO就能达到明显的阻燃效果[9-10],在提高聚合物阻燃性能方面具有重要的研究意义。
黄君仪[11]将DOPO和富马酸或衣康酸(ITA)加成反应后,先合成具有双羧基的DOPO衍生物DOPOMA和[(6-氧代-6H-二苯并[c,e][1,2]氧磷杂己环-6-基)甲基]丁二酸(DDP)单体,再将此单体引入UPR中,使UPR具有良好的阻燃效果。此工艺制备单体需要洗涤、烘干等工艺步骤,制备工艺复杂,提高了制造成本,尤其废水的排放不符合环保要求,限制了其工业化应用。张臣[12]采用DOPO与ITA反应,经过洗涤、干燥、重结晶等工序,生成含磷二元酸,将此含磷二元酸代替不饱和聚酯中的二元酸,制备阻燃不饱和聚酯。从此工艺特点可以看出,该工序繁复、成本较高,而且洗涤的溶剂需要无害化处理,环保压力大,制约了其工业化应用。
本文采用分步加料的工艺,将顺酐与DOPO先反应,再向体系中加入其余材料,由于P-H与顺酐的双键加成为放热反应,且放热剧烈,故采用分批加入DOPO的方式,通过逐步反应使得反应放热平稳,同时减少材料间的竞争反应,可以保证DOPO与顺酐的加成反应转化率高,降低制造成本。
阻燃剂DOPO、三羟甲基丙烷(TMP),工业品,江阴市涵丰科技有限公司;顺丁烯二酸酐(MA),工业品,国药集团化学试剂有限公司;新戊二醇(NPG),工业品,上海德诺化工有限公司;己二酸(AA)、乙二醇(EG)、丙二醇(PG)、四氢苯酐(THPA)、甲基四氢苯酐(MTHPA)、过氧化二异丙苯(DCP),工业品,上海化学试剂有限公司;邻苯二甲酸酐(PA)、间苯二甲酸(PIA),工业品,天津市化学试剂有限公司;苯乙烯(ST),工业品,天津市福晨化学试剂厂;对叔丁基邻苯二酚(TBC),工业品,上海阿拉丁生化科技股份有限公司;对苯二酚(HQ),化学纯,天津市化学试剂有限公司。
将DOPO及MTHPA按一定比例投入三口瓶中,升温至120℃搅拌至材料完全融化后,降温至80℃,将一定量的MA分多次加入体系,控制每次加料后放热温度不超过120℃,待MA加毕且反应不再有明显放热、在120℃保温0.5 h后,再次升温至150℃并保温4 h。将一定比例的NPG、TMP加入体系,在温度为200~210℃进行保温反应,直至树脂酸值≤25 mgKOH/g,以此作为反应结束标志。反应结束后抽真空保持30 min,然后降温至175℃加入HQ溶解30 min,继续降温至110℃加入ST稀释制得UPR-1。采用MTHPA作为载体,将DOPO先与MTHPA反应,再与MA加成反应,此时MTHPA可以起到降温的作用,控制DOPO与MA加成的放热作用,而且并不会存在竞争、酯化等副反应,可以提高DOPO的加成转化率。
取一定量的DCP及TBC加入UPR-1中,充分混合,制得预聚物,然后将其缓慢注入预定模具中,按120℃/1 h+150℃/4 h的固化工艺进行固化,固化完成后冷却至室温,脱模取料,得到无卤阻燃不饱和聚酯树脂的固化试样。
红外光谱:使用日本岛津公司的FTIR 8400S型红外光谱仪进行测试,固化树脂采用溴化钾压片法制样,液体树脂采用液膜法制样,波数为400~4 000 cm-1;差示扫描量热分析:使用德国NETZSCH公司的DSC200F3型差示扫描量热仪进行测试,N2氛围,从室温升至250℃,升温速率为5℃/min,记录吸/放热曲线;热失重分析:按照JB/T 1544—2015[13]相关要求使用德国NETZSCH公司的TG209F3型热失重仪进行测试,N2氛围,从室温升到700℃,升温速率为10℃/min;极限氧指数(LOI):按照GB/T 2406.2—2009[14]的试验方法进行测试;阻燃性能:按照ANSI/UL 94-2013[15]的相关要求进行测试,试样厚度为3 mm。
在合成UPR-1的过程中,制备了不同磷含量的不饱和聚酯,分别记为UPR-1P0、UPR-1P1、UPR-1P2、UPR-1P3、UPR-1P4,固化后测试其氧指数及阻燃性能,结果如表1所示。
表1可看出,随着磷含量的增加,树脂的阻燃性能逐步提高,在磷含量达到2.73%时,阻燃性能达到UL94 V0级;而继续提高磷含量,树脂合成后期颜色会有些许不透明,呈乳白色,这是由于DOPO与MA的加成转换率降低,导致DOPO未完全反应的缘故;同时,也会导致不饱和酸含量降低,树脂反应活性降低。
不饱和聚酯的生成反应是以醇和酸脱水缩聚为主反应,是可逆平衡的逐步反应[16]。此外还存在环化反应及官能基之间的反应,反应方向取决于单体结构、温度及浓度。
在合成UPR-1的过程中,对于DOPO与MA的反应,影响因素主要是温度和时间,选用低温条件则会延长反应时间,且可能使反应不完全;而选用高温条件虽可以缩短反应时间,但高温下会使得材料容易氧化而导致树脂颜色变深。对合成树脂第1步在不同温度和不同保温时间条件下的反应进行现象记录,结果如表2所示。
表2可以看出,在140℃下,即使保温时间达到8 h,DOPO仍然没有反应完全,仍有少许DOPO游离于树脂中,导致树脂浑浊,树脂固化后也不透明;在150℃保温3 h条件下,DOPO的加成反应转化率仍较低;在160℃的高温下,MTHPA发生氧化,从而使得树脂颜色变深。综合考虑,选用150℃保温4 h的条件较为合适。
取少量DOPO通过溴化钾压片法测试红外光谱;取DOPO与MA加成反应后的少量树脂,用丙酮溶解后均匀涂膜,烘干溶剂后测试红外光谱;合成完全的树脂也通过涂膜法测试红外光谱,其谱图分别如图13所示。
图13可以看出,在DOPO谱图中2 366 cm-1处出现了P-H的特征吸收峰,而在第1步合成树脂及UPR-1的谱图中,P-H特征峰基本消失,说明DOPO的P-H与MA的双键发生加成反应,且基本反应完全。在UPR-1谱图中1 400 cm-1附近(P=O)和1 200 cm-1附近(P-Ph)特征吸收峰的存在表明树脂内含有磷;波数为1 589、1 514、1 456 cm-1是苯环基团的特征峰,波数为1 267 cm-1、1 169~1 016 cm-1是酯类特征峰,波数为1 640 cm-1是不饱和双键的特征吸收峰,表明UPR-1为含磷的不饱和聚酯树脂。
热重分析的基本原理认为材料的性能损失主要是由于材料受热后发生氧化裂解和热裂解引起的,所以材料性能损失也可用材料受热后的质量损失来表示。将材料放在热重分析天平上,记录材料质量随温度变化的损失,并绘制热重曲线,通过公式计算得到分解温度和温度指数,分解温度A的计算公式如式(1)所示,温度指数T2g的计算公式如式(2)所示。

将UPR-1P0、UPR-1P1、UPR-1P2、UPR-1P3、UPR-1P4固化后进行耐热性能测试,热失重曲线如图4所示,T5(失重率为5%时对应的分解温度)及T2g与树脂磷含量的关系曲线如图5所示。
图4图5可以看出,随着磷含量的增加,树脂的T5逐渐降低,表明树脂热稳定性逐渐变差。这是因为P-C、P-O-C的键能比C-C键能低,受热时容易先分解。而通过计算得到的T2g并没有表现线性规律,虽然T5逐渐降低,但残留率在提高,高温下树脂的热分解速率变慢。综合看来,为满足材料的阻燃性能及耐热性能,树脂的磷含量应控制在2.7%左右即可。
DSC一般用来分析树脂的反应活性,放热峰尖锐、峰形窄的树脂,其放热剧烈、反应活性高,在峰值温度下可能会爆聚,常温下存放稳定性较差。对于无溶剂浸渍树脂来说,其放热峰的起始温度低一些,而峰形平缓,这样的树脂在低温存放时稳定性好,反应活性适中,树脂固化快。
在合成UPR-1的过程中,选用不饱和酸与饱和酸的摩尔比分别为1∶1、1.5∶1、2∶1,3种树脂分别为UPR-1a、UPR-1b、UPR-1c,采用相同引发阻聚体系,随着不饱和酸与饱和酸摩尔比的增大,所合成的UPR中双键含量相应增大。3种树脂的DSC曲线如图6所示,曲线的起始温度(Tonset)、峰值温度(Tpeak)及终点温度(Tend)数据如表3所示。
图6表3可以看出,随着双键含量的增大,放热峰向低温端移动,表明树脂活性越来越高。
选用UPR-1a树脂,采用两种引发阻聚体系,一种为低温固化型,命名为UPR-1d,另一种为复配型,命名为UPR-1e,两种引发阻聚体系的DSC曲线如图7所示。从图7可以看出,UPR-1e的放热峰相对平缓,表明其存放稳定性优于UPR-1d。综合来看,在此不饱和聚酯树脂体系中,不饱和酸与饱和酸的摩尔配比为1∶1至1.5∶1相对合适,而采用复配引发阻聚体系,也会优于采用单一的引发剂体系和阻聚剂体系。
(1)采用MTHPA作为载体,将DOPO先与MTHPA反应,再与MA加成反应,此时MTHPA可以起到降温的作用,容易控制DOPO与MA加成的放热作用,而且并不会存在竞争、酯化等副反应,可以使得DOPO的加成转化率高。对于DOPO与MA的反应,选用150℃保温4 h的条件较为合适。
(2)FTIR测试结果表明,成功将DOPO引入到不饱和聚酯UPR-1分子链中;通过TG测试结果发现,随着磷含量的增加,树脂的热稳定性下降,尤其是T5呈线性下降,为满足阻燃性和耐热性,控制磷含量在2.7%左右较为合适。
(3)对不同双键含量的树脂进行DSC测试发现,双键含量越大,树脂活性越大;而不同的引发阻聚体系也会影响树脂的反应活性,采用不饱和酸与饱和酸的摩尔比为1∶1至1.5∶1,同时采用复配引发阻聚体系时,树脂具有较好的反应活性和存放稳定性。
