Epoxy resin is widely used in the field of motor insulation. The researchers has conducted considerable research on its macroscopic performance changes under thermal oxidative ageing conditions, but the research on the ageing at molecular structure level ageing is limited. This paper systematically investigated the changes in chromophore groups, free radical content, cross-linking network functional groups, and internal micro-defects of epoxy resin samples under different thermal oxidative ageing time using ultraviolet spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, and two-dimensional X-ray scattering. The results show that after thermal oxidative ageing, the samples exhibit distinct absorption peaks at ultraviolet wavelengths of 406 nm (corresponding to p-benzoquinone) and 636 nm (corresponding to dibenzoquinone or naphthoquinone derivatives), and the appearance of the samples turns dark brown. The free radical content increases rapidly with ageing time (reaching a high level at 20 h) then gradually decreases, and maintains a low level after 80 h. The destruction of cross-linking network functional groups follows a specific sequence with the increase of thermal oxidative ageing time, and the destruction rate of functional group slows down after 80 h. There are micro-defects inside the sample, and the defect size gradually increases with the increase of thermal oxidative ageing time.

环氧树脂在电机绝缘领域应用广泛,业内对其在热氧老化条件下的宏观性能变化颇有研究,但对其分子结构层面的老化研究有限。本文利用紫外光谱、电子顺磁共振波谱、红外光谱及二维X射线散射等表征手段,系统研究不同热氧老化时间下环氧树脂样品的发色基团、自由基含量、交联网络官能团及内部微缺陷变化。结果表明:热氧老化后,样品在紫外波长为406 nm(对应对苯醌)和636 nm(对应二苯并醌或萘醌衍生物)处出现明显吸收峰,样品外观呈深褐色;自由基含量随老化时间先快速增加(20 h时达较高水平)后逐步降低,80 h后维持低含量稳定;交联网络官能团随热氧老化时间的增加呈特定顺序破坏,且80 h后官能团破坏速率放缓;样品内部出现微缺陷,且缺陷尺寸随老化时间增加逐渐增大。

环氧树脂在电机绝缘领域应用广泛,业内对其在热氧老化条件下的宏观性能变化颇有研究,但对其分子结构层面的老化研究有限。本文利用紫外光谱、电子顺磁共振波谱、红外光谱及二维X射线散射等表征手段,系统研究不同热氧老化时间下环氧树脂样品的发色基团、自由基含量、交联网络官能团及内部微缺陷变化。结果表明:热氧老化后,样品在紫外波长为406 nm(对应对苯醌)和636 nm(对应二苯并醌或萘醌衍生物)处出现明显吸收峰,样品外观呈深褐色;自由基含量随老化时间先快速增加(20 h时达较高水平)后逐步降低,80 h后维持低含量稳定;交联网络官能团随热氧老化时间的增加呈特定顺序破坏,且80 h后官能团破坏速率放缓;样品内部出现微缺陷,且缺陷尺寸随老化时间增加逐渐增大。

Epoxy resin is widely used in the field of motor insulation. The researchers has conducted considerable research on its macroscopic performance changes under thermal oxidative ageing conditions, but the research on the ageing at molecular structure level ageing is limited. This paper systematically investigated the changes in chromophore groups, free radical content, cross-linking network functional groups, and internal micro-defects of epoxy resin samples under different thermal oxidative ageing time using ultraviolet spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, and two-dimensional X-ray scattering. The results show that after thermal oxidative ageing, the samples exhibit distinct absorption peaks at ultraviolet wavelengths of 406 nm (corresponding to p-benzoquinone) and 636 nm (corresponding to dibenzoquinone or naphthoquinone derivatives), and the appearance of the samples turns dark brown. The free radical content increases rapidly with ageing time (reaching a high level at 20 h) then gradually decreases, and maintains a low level after 80 h. The destruction of cross-linking network functional groups follows a specific sequence with the increase of thermal oxidative ageing time, and the destruction rate of functional group slows down after 80 h. There are micro-defects inside the sample, and the defect size gradually increases with the increase of thermal oxidative ageing time.

环氧树脂作为一类含有环氧基团的高分子材料[1],凭借优异的电气绝缘性能与力学性能,在发电机领域占据重要地位[2]。从发电机定子绕组绝缘、风力发电机叶片到防电晕涂层等,其应用场景广泛且关键[3-4]。然而,电机运行工况往往伴随长期的高温环境,对环氧树脂的耐热氧老化性能提出了严苛要求。过往研究已围绕环氧树脂老化展开多维度探索,包括热积累引发的绝缘劣化机制[5]、不同环境(热氧[6-7]、湿热[8]、辐射[9])下的老化行为分析、ZnO改性提升耐紫外性能[10]、树脂共混体系的老化特性[11]等研究,也涵盖老化对加工性能的影响[12]及老化动力学分析[13]。但上述研究多聚焦宏观性能变化,如力学性能衰减、绝缘电阻下降等,对微观分子结构层面的探究仍显不足。事实上,环氧树脂的宏观性能本质由微观分子结构决定,化学键断裂、交联网络重构等分子层面的变化,直接影响其耐热性、绝缘性能等核心性能[14-16]。因此,深入剖析热氧老化过程中分子结构的演变机理,是突破材料性能瓶颈、开发新型高性能环氧树脂的关键[17]。然而,由于该领域涉及电气、材料等交叉学科,目前围绕电机绝缘用环氧树脂热氧老化过程中的微观结构变化研究报道较少。
基于此,本文系统开展环氧树脂热氧老化过程中微观分子结构变化的研究,旨在揭示老化过程中其分子层面的演变规律,为通过分子结构设计提升环氧树脂耐热氧老化性能、从材料学角度建立电机环氧绝缘老化程度的评价方法等提供理论依据与实验支撑。
双酚A型环氧树脂A,山东德源化工有限公司;酸酐固化剂B,武汉鑫众信化工科技有限公司;环烷酸锌促进剂C,牌号为CP,成都科龙化工有限公司。
电子顺磁共振波谱仪,型号为ESR5000,德国布鲁克公司;红外光谱仪,型号为Spectrum BX,美国PerkinElmer公司;紫外可见分光光度计,型号为UV-1800,日本岛津公司;二维小角X射线散射仪,型号为Xeuss 3.0,法国Xenics公司;真空烘箱,型号为dzf-6092,上海一恒仪器公司。
将环氧树脂A、酸酐固化剂B和环烷酸锌促进剂C按照规定的质量比进行均匀混合,加入聚四氟乙烯模具中,然后放入真空烘箱以70℃/1 h+130℃/3 h+160℃/6 h的程序固化成型,得到尺寸为10 mm×10 mm×1 mm的环氧树脂样品。
将所制备的环氧树脂固化样品置于托盘中,在(200±5)℃的条件下进行热氧老化,每间隔0、20、40、60、80、100 h取出样品,制得相应热氧老化时间的样品供进一步研究,样品外观如图1所示。从图1可以看出,随着老化时间的延长,样品的颜色逐渐变成黄色甚至褐色,老化程度逐渐加深。
紫外可见光谱分析:采用透射模式测试波长为200~800 nm。电子顺磁共振波谱(EPR)分析:样品质量大于10 mg,中心磁场为3 500.00 G,扫场宽度为150.00 G,扫场时间为30.00 s,微波功率为3.99 MW,调制幅度为1.000 G,转换时间为40.0 ms。红外光谱分析:采用ATR全反射模式,测试波数为400~4 000 cm-1,精度为4 cm-1,扫描次数为16次。二维小角X射线散射(2D-SAXS)测试:样品到探测器的距离为6 510 mm,散射矢量q有效范围在水平方向上为0.017~0.270 nm-1,在垂直方向上为0.01~0.11 nm-1
不同环氧树脂样品的紫外可见光谱如图2所示。从图2可以看出,未老化样品在整个紫外光谱的波长范围内并未出现明显的强峰;在热氧老化过程中,样品主要在两个区域发生了吸收强度的显著变化,分别位于406 nm和636 nm。其中,位于406 nm的吸收强度变化对应于对苯醌的生成,位于636 nm的吸收强度变化对应于二苯并醌或萘醌衍生物的生成。结合文献[18-20]分析可知,双酚A型环氧树脂热氧老化后时,苯环首先氧化生成对苯醌(对应于406 nm处的吸收强度变化),随后醌类进一步缩合为二苯并醌或萘醌衍生物(对应于636 nm处的吸收强度变化),同时羰基和双键的共轭扩展导致长波长吸收峰出现,与本研究的实验结果一致。
取不同热氧老化时间的环氧树脂样品进行EPR分析,结果如图3(a)所示,对EPR谱图进行二重积分,可以计算环氧树脂中自由基含量的变化趋势。
采用线性模式计算方程对环氧树脂在降解过程中自由基含量变化情况进行动力学分析[17],如式(1)所示。

式(1)中:N是实验得到的自由基含量参数,由EPR谱图在3 490~3 545 G之间进行二重积分得到; Aradical是降解过程中自由基重组引发的自由基含量变化常数;kradical是与降解时气氛有关的另一常数;τradical是时间常数,单位为h;Nresidual是自由基重组过程引发的自由基回复速率;t是老化时间,单位为h。
通过计算,得到上述样品老化过程中自由基含量变化的参数如表1所示,得到自由基含量随热氧老化过程的变化如图3(b)所示。
EPR谱图结果是多种自由基组合的集合[18]。从图3可以看出,热氧老化前,样品没有EPR信号,几乎没有自由基出现,说明样品未发生降解[19];而随着热氧老化的发生,环氧树脂表层的EPR信号大幅增加,说明出现了大量活性自由基。随着热氧老化过程的继续,自由基与外界氧原子等发生复杂化学反应,可能导致环氧树脂的交联网络结构局部断裂、官能团破坏以及自由基失活,自由基含量逐渐降低。当热氧老化时间为80 h及以上时,剩余的自由基含量较低。此外,根据EPR谱图的总宽度为12.0 mT,每个峰的平均宽度为1.1 mT,可计算得出EPR谱图中出现对应环己二烯基类型的自由基信号,可能是由于双酚A型环氧树脂和酸酐固化剂结构中少量苯环裂解所产生[21-23]
表1可以看出,Aradical数值较高,表明老化初期弱键断裂产生大量活性自由基,为分子链降解提供“启动源”;τradica为24.297 h,说明老化24.297 h后,自由基重组速率超过生成速率,对应老化20~40 h后自由基含量下降;kradical数值较高,说明富氧环境中氧气快速淬灭自由基,加剧氧化失活,进而产生更多降解产物;NresidualAradical的29%,表明老化后期残留的自由基含量较高。
环氧树脂样品在不同热氧化时间下的红外光谱测试结果如图4所示。从图4可以看出,环氧树脂特征吸收峰主要有波数为3 400~3 500 cm-1的羟基特征吸收峰、波数为2 960 cm-1及2 860 cm-1的-CH3特征吸收峰、波数为2 925 cm-1的-CH2特征吸收峰、波数为1 742及1 626~1 680的羰基系列特征吸收峰、波数为1 500~1 600 cm-1的苯环系列特征吸收峰、波数为1 180~1 300 cm-1的芳基醚特征吸收峰、波数为1 040 cm-1的酯基醚特征吸收峰等。
为了进一步剖析环氧树脂样品的老化行为及官能团变化,采用二维相关红外分析法对红外结果进行进一步解析[20-21]
首先使用自行开发的二维相关红外光谱分析软件,对环氧树脂样品的不同区域谱带进行二维相关红外谱图的绘制。分别针对波数为3 500~2 800 cm-1、1 800~1 000 cm-1以及1 100~700 cm-1这3个区域进行二维相关红外计算,所得同步相关谱图、异步相关谱图如图57所示。对各个特征峰的先后次序分别进行相关性计算[22],结果见表2
表2总结了各个谱带的先后变化次序,以表2中第1行“(3 400,1 742)”为例,其次序判定为“-”,则说明波数1 742 cm-1所对应的官能团先于波数3 400 cm-1所对应的官能团,以此类推,得到样品在热氧老化降解过程中的红外光谱特征峰变化的先后次序为:2 939 cm-1→1 500 cm-1~1 600 cm-1→1 040 cm-1→830 cm-1→920 cm-1→1 270 cm-1→1 760 cm-1→3 400 cm-1;对应于环氧树脂上各个官能团发生破坏的先后次序为:甲基-CH3及亚甲基-CH2→苯环→酯基醚→苯环对位取代→环氧基→芳基醚→羰基-C=O→羟基-OH,这为深入理解环氧树脂的热氧老化行为提供了新的实验和理论指导。
采用移动窗口二维(MW2D)相关红外光谱对各官能团含量在老化过程中的变化进行定量计算[23],结果如图8所示。从图8可以看出,采用MW2D计算所得样品的各官能团运动相对强度随着热氧老化时间的延长而明显下降,表明环氧树脂热氧老化过程中,苯环、酯基醚、芳基醚、环氧基、羰基、甲基及亚甲基、羟基等官能团发生了部分降解、破坏,而不同官能团的破坏程度不同;当热氧老化时间为80 h及以上时,各官能团的运动强度相对变化速率变缓,该结果与EPR结果的规律一致。另外,不同官能团随着热氧老化时间的变化趋势不同,如苯环的运动相对强度在老化0~60 h的范围内持续下降,随后缓慢降低;环氧基的运动相对强度在老化初期几乎不变,但在老化20~60 h时逐渐下降,且下降幅度小于苯环。因此比较指定热氧老化时间下不同官能团的运动相对强度的变化趋势,可作为判断环氧树脂热氧老化程度的参量之一。
图9为不同热氧老化时间下环氧树脂样品的2D-SAXS测试结果。从图9可以看出,随着热氧老化的发生,环氧树脂样品逐渐显示出各向异性的散射图案(分别在上下、左右两个方向出现锐利的信号),表明出现了纳米尺度的微缺陷。选用环氧老化过程中用于描述裂解产生微孔隙的微裂纹模型,假设测量对象系统为圆柱对称的情况下,可以根据式(2)的微裂纹模型公式计算热氧老化过程中微缺陷的尺寸分布情况。

式(2)中:Q为散射不变量;Iabs为散射强度;qxqy分别为样品中微缺陷在xy轴方向的长度。
对于含有微孔隙的环氧绝缘材料,可以将其看作由环氧区和微孔隙构成。其中微孔隙中的电子密度几乎为零,因此散射主要来自微孔隙和环氧聚合物本体之间的界面。由此可以把环氧树脂认为是两相体系,即微孔和本体。
通过上述微裂纹模型,计算环氧绝缘中微裂纹缺陷的尺寸分布,结果如图10所示。从图10可以看出,由于初始样品没有可探测的微裂纹,没有生成相关曲线;随着热氧老化时间的增加,微缺陷逐渐出现,且其尺寸逐渐增大。当热氧老化20 h时,微缺陷尺寸位于50~260 nm;当热氧老化100 h时,微缺陷尺寸增加至100~500 nm。
(1)随着热氧老化时间的增加,环氧树脂样品颜色逐渐呈现深褐色,在紫外光谱波长为406 nm和636 nm附近出现了明显吸收峰,表明热氧老化导致某些化学键断裂,进而产生发色基团,因而出现相应的吸收峰。
(2)热氧老化前样品没有EPR信号,几乎没有自由基出现,表明环氧树脂样品未发生降解。在200℃热氧老化20 h后,出现了活性自由基;随着热氧老化过程的继续推进,自由基与外界氧原子等发生复杂化学反应,可能导致环氧树脂的交联网络结构局部断裂、官能团破坏以及自由基失活,自由基含量逐渐降低;当热氧老化至80 h及以上时,剩余的自由基含量较低。
(3)热氧老化导致环氧树脂交联网络结构中各官能团发生了破坏,而且不同官能团发生变化的先后顺序不同。
(4)经历热氧老化的环氧树脂样品出现了微裂纹,且微裂纹的平均尺寸随着热氧老化时间的增加逐步增大。
