In order to obtain the characteristic gases generated during the decomposition of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) at different stages under electrical and thermal factors to judge the degree of degradation, we systematically studied the gas production characteristics of XLPE under thermal field and electrical field through thermogravimetric-infrared (TG-IR) experiments, high-energy discharge gas production experiments, and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations based on reactive force field (ReaxFF). The results show that under the action of thermal field, XLPE primarily decomposes to generate ethylene, propylene, and long-chain hydrocarbons, accompanied by oxidation products such as CO and CO2. While under the action of electrical field, the characteristic gases are mainly acetylene and propyne, and distinct absorption peaks of propyne appear in the infrared spectrum under high-energy discharge. Molecular simulation further reveals the differences in decomposition pathways of XLPE under electric and thermal fields. Specifically, decomposition under the thermal field is dominated by end-group breakage, while the electric field accelerates free radical reactions and promotes the generation of highly unsaturated substances. Finally, a normalized characteristic gas infrared spectrum library is constructed through density functional theory (DFT) calculation. The gas production process is divided into different stages based on the turning point of thermogravimetric curve, the peak spectrum change temperature of gas infrared spectrum, and the molecular simulation trajectory time of the decomposition process. This study clarifies the characteristic gases of XLPE during electrical/thermal decomposition and the gas production mechanisms, which can provide a theoretical basis for the fault detection of XLPE cable based on gas infrared spectrum.

为获取交联聚乙烯(XLPE)在电、热等因素下不同阶段分解产生的特征气体以判断其劣化程度,本文通过热重-红外(TG-IR)测试、高能放电产气实验,结合基于反应力场(ReaxFF)的分子动力学(MD)模拟,系统研究了XLPE在热场和电场作用下的分解产气特性。结果表明:热场作用下,XLPE主要分解生成乙烯、丙烯及长链烃类物质,并伴随一氧化碳、二氧化碳等氧化产物;而在电场作用下,特征气体以乙炔、丙炔为主,且在高能放电下红外谱图中出现明显的丙炔吸收峰。通过分子动力学模拟进一步揭示了电、热场作用下XLPE的分解路径差异,热场下以端基断裂为主,而电场加速了自由基反应,生成高不饱和度物质。最后通过密度泛函理论(DFT)计算构建了归一化的特征气体红外谱图库。按照热重曲线转折温度、气体红外光谱峰谱变化温度、分解过程的分子动力学模拟轨迹时间将热解产气过程划分为不同阶段。本研究明确了XLPE电/热分解的特征气体及产气机制,可为基于气体红外光谱的XLPE电缆故障检测提供理论基础。

为获取交联聚乙烯(XLPE)在电、热等因素下不同阶段分解产生的特征气体以判断其劣化程度,本文通过热重-红外(TG-IR)测试、高能放电产气实验,结合基于反应力场(ReaxFF)的分子动力学(MD)模拟,系统研究了XLPE在热场和电场作用下的分解产气特性。结果表明:热场作用下,XLPE主要分解生成乙烯、丙烯及长链烃类物质,并伴随一氧化碳、二氧化碳等氧化产物;而在电场作用下,特征气体以乙炔、丙炔为主,且在高能放电下红外谱图中出现明显的丙炔吸收峰。通过分子动力学模拟进一步揭示了电、热场作用下XLPE的分解路径差异,热场下以端基断裂为主,而电场加速了自由基反应,生成高不饱和度物质。最后通过密度泛函理论(DFT)计算构建了归一化的特征气体红外谱图库。按照热重曲线转折温度、气体红外光谱峰谱变化温度、分解过程的分子动力学模拟轨迹时间将热解产气过程划分为不同阶段。本研究明确了XLPE电/热分解的特征气体及产气机制,可为基于气体红外光谱的XLPE电缆故障检测提供理论基础。

In order to obtain the characteristic gases generated during the decomposition of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) at different stages under electrical and thermal factors to judge the degree of degradation, we systematically studied the gas production characteristics of XLPE under thermal field and electrical field through thermogravimetric-infrared (TG-IR) experiments, high-energy discharge gas production experiments, and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations based on reactive force field (ReaxFF). The results show that under the action of thermal field, XLPE primarily decomposes to generate ethylene, propylene, and long-chain hydrocarbons, accompanied by oxidation products such as CO and CO2. While under the action of electrical field, the characteristic gases are mainly acetylene and propyne, and distinct absorption peaks of propyne appear in the infrared spectrum under high-energy discharge. Molecular simulation further reveals the differences in decomposition pathways of XLPE under electric and thermal fields. Specifically, decomposition under the thermal field is dominated by end-group breakage, while the electric field accelerates free radical reactions and promotes the generation of highly unsaturated substances. Finally, a normalized characteristic gas infrared spectrum library is constructed through density functional theory (DFT) calculation. The gas production process is divided into different stages based on the turning point of thermogravimetric curve, the peak spectrum change temperature of gas infrared spectrum, and the molecular simulation trajectory time of the decomposition process. This study clarifies the characteristic gases of XLPE during electrical/thermal decomposition and the gas production mechanisms, which can provide a theoretical basis for the fault detection of XLPE cable based on gas infrared spectrum.

电力电缆是现代城市供电系统的重要组成部分,是实现电能高效输送的关键设备。随着城市现代化进程的加速和电力需求的持续增长,电缆材料的老化问题日益凸显[1]。交联聚乙烯(XLPE)是由低密度聚乙烯材料交联而成,具有优异的电气、力学和理化性能,在交直流电缆领域得到了广泛使用[2-3]
在长期服役过程中,XLPE在电和热的作用下会发生老化分解,其分解行为与温度和电场密切相关[4]。现有研究中其热分解过程通常按温度被大致划分为3个阶段:低温阶段(低于300℃,水和部分单体挥发)、中温阶段(300~400℃,XLPE链的解聚)和高温阶段(高于400℃,长链分子断裂和挥发以及残碳的分解)[7]。这种粗略的划分难以反映实际条件下XLPE分解的复杂性,尤其是在电场作用下的分解行为。
研究表明,XLPE在电、热场作用下会分解释放出特征气体[5-6]。针对这一现象,近期有研究者提出通过检测电缆中XLPE所产生气体的方法来检测电缆的故障状态,该方法具有灵敏度高的特点[7]。当前,利用气体传感器的检测方法大多基于后处理算法,通过提取不同阵列通道中气体的特征进而对传感信号进行分析。但是,这类方法的可靠性低,不仅无法说明气体的来源,也缺少对材料分解产气机理的定量和定性描述。有研究者通过反应力场(ReaxFF)模拟发现XLPE热分解主要产生乙烯、甲烷等气体[8]。此外,为模拟电场条件下XLPE的降解行为,有研究者提出采用电子力场(EFF)来模拟放电情况[9]。EFF方法能够精确反映电子与原子间的相互作用,但其计算成本极高,且难以适用于大型聚合物体系的模拟。在此背景下,有研究者开发了极化电流均衡电荷转移(QTPIE)方法,用于模拟电场下的电荷均衡分布,该方法能够有效描述分子内的电荷平衡状态[10]
总体来说,目前对XLPE在电场和热场中的分解行为研究存在以下不足:缺乏分解特征气体的红外光谱库、模拟阶段未能准确反映放电条件下XLPE的产气行为。针对这些问题,本研究旨在通过实验和分子模拟相结合的方法,系统研究XLPE在不同电场和热场作用下的分解产气行为及特征气体的演变规律。研究成果可为基于特征气体的XLPE绝缘状态诊断方法提供理论基础和技术支撑。
本文的研究思路如图1所示,通过高能放电产气实验和热重-红外(TG-IR)联用测试,获取XLPE在不同击穿电场和温度条件下分解产生的混合气体实验数据。随后,采用分子动力学模拟技术模拟XLPE在电、热场作用下的微观分解过程,获取仿真数据。通过密度泛函理论(DFT)计算,系统获取特征气体的红外光谱并建立谱库。通过实验和仿真方法的相互补充,从不同角度厘清XLPE的分解、产气过程。
实验使用的XLPE材料采用电缆切片机从110 kV电缆上切片获取,确保其成分与实际电缆中的材料一致。
实验仪器:傅里叶红外光谱仪(FTIR),Nicolet 6700型,美国Thermo Fisher公司;热重分析仪(TGA),Pyris型,PerkinElmer公司;气相色谱仪(GC),GC112N型,上海仪电有限公司。
为系统研究XLPE在空气气氛中的击穿分解特性,采用图2所示击穿产气实验装置进行实验。具体流程如下:将两电极片置于两片XLPE薄片之间,一起放入密封产气盒中,通过控制电极间距离(1、3、5 mm)来控制不同放电强度。随后,以1 kV/min的速度逐级升高电极两端的电压,直至引发高能放电并使材料击穿(仅击穿放电瞬间,持续时间短)。该过程中产生的气体通过注射器进行采集,随后利用FTIR进行检测,以获取XLPE在电场作用下分解气体的红外特征谱图。
XLPE的热解产气特性通过TG-IR和GC进行分析,这两种方法检测的气体范围不同。TG-IR能够获取热分解曲线并获得极性气体的红外光谱(无法检测氢气)。GC能够获取氢气、一氧化碳、二氧化碳、乙烯、乙炔、甲烷、乙烷这7种气体的浓度(无法检测别的气体)。
TG-IR检测过程:通过程序控制热重分析仪升高样品温度,并利用红外光谱分析仪连续检测分解过程中释放的挥发性气体产物。实验在空气气氛下进行,温度设定为50~800℃,升温速率为50 ℃/min。GC检测过程:将XLPE试样置于100~400℃下在产气瓶中产气,随后通过GC进行检测。通过采集这些气体数据,分析特征吸收峰,揭示不同温度下的气体释放规律。
为准确模拟XLPE在电场和热场作用下的分解行为,首先通过Packmol软件构建了图3所示的20 Å×20 Å×20 Å周期性模拟盒,其中包含10条分子量为242的聚乙烯分子链,密度设置为0.93 g/cm3。由于初始模型中分子链部分外露且表面不平整,同时缺乏交联结构,本研究通过LAMMPS软件进行交联处理。交联后对模拟盒进行进一步压缩,使密度恢复至0.93 g/cm3,并在恒体积、恒温(NVT)系综下平衡弛豫50 000 ps以实现能量最小化,确保分子结构的合理性。随后,将20个氧气分子引入体系形成含氧条件(不引入氧气为无氧条件),并在上下边界设定非周期性边界以模拟实际环境。
在电场条件下XLPE的分解模拟中,采用QTPIE方法实现分子电荷平衡,电场强度设置为30 kV/mm。在热场条件下XLPE的分解模拟中,基于ReaxFF力场参数,利用LAMMPS软件进行恒温热解计算。为加速反应进程并缩短模拟时间,将系统升温至1 500 K,使用Berendsen型恒温器(阻尼常数为25 fs)进行温度控制,热解过程持续100 000 ps,以50 ps的时间间隔记录体系分子状态。通过开放可视化工具(OVT)软件可视化XLPE分解过程中分子结构的演化路径,并统计特征产物的形成规律。
在模拟获得XLPE分解产气行为后,进行基于DFT的振动分析,以计算特征气体的振动模式和红外吸收频率。该计算通过Gaussian软件中的b3lyp/def2svp基组和泛函级别实现,但由于DFT的谐振近似和对薛定谔方程的近似带来了相对固定的计算误差,通常导致红外频率的预测高于实验基频。根据文献[16],采用校正因子0.9671对计算频率进行校正,并借助Multwfn软件对峰谱进行高斯展宽处理以接近实验数据。
通过FTIR获取了XLPE在不同击穿电压条件下分解气体的红外光谱,如图4所示。从图4可以看出,随着击穿电压从2.0 kV逐步提升至9.4 kV(电极间距离由1 mm增大至5 mm),CO的特征吸收峰强度呈现显著增强趋势,表明其生成量与电场强度呈正相关。而乙炔、乙烯和甲烷的特征吸收峰呈现先增强后减弱的趋势,推测是由于高击穿电压(9.4 kV)下这些气体分子发生氧化等二次反应,部分转化成了CO和CO2。此外,XLPE在高击穿电压下产生了少量丙炔,说明在强放电能量作用下可能诱发含C≡C三键结构的不饱和物质形成。另外XLPE在高能放电下未产生长链物质,说明击穿过程中发生的分解行为主要以分子链断裂产生小分子为特征。由于乙炔、丙炔这两种炔类物质在XLPE电解产气的红外光谱结果中具有明显的吸收峰,而在热应力下的红外光谱中(热重-红外测试结果)为饱和度更高的烷类、烯类物质,两者区别显著。因此,乙炔、丙炔可作为判断高能电击穿的重要特征气体。在实际应用中,可以通过监测乙炔和丙炔的特征吸收峰来判断是否发生了高能电击穿,为XLPE放电缺陷的诊断提供重要参考。
图5为XLPE在不同击穿电压条件下分解气体的气相色谱结果。从图5可以看出,随着击穿电压的增大,XLPE的电解产气量显著增加,其中乙烯、乙烷和乙炔等烃类气体表现尤为明显。这表明随着击穿电压增大,XLPE材料不仅发生了更剧烈的裂解反应,释放出更多的烃类气体,还伴随着氧化反应的加剧,导致CO和CO2等氧化产物的生成量增加。另外,氢气的生成量在不同击穿电压下变化不大,这是由于氢气在放电下不稳定,超过一定浓度的氢气易于进一步反应,转化为水汽。总体来看,较高的击穿电压会促进XLPE的分解行为,导致烃类物质和氧化产物的生成。
XLPE的热重曲线及热重微分曲线如图6所示。分析图6可知,XLPE为交联结构,热稳定性较出色。空气气氛下,XLPE的起始分解温度约为343℃,当温度高于343℃时,XLPE开始快速分解并失重,其最大分解速率温度为500℃。上述温度为XLPE分解特性发生变化的特征温度。电缆正常运行温度远低于特征温度,但在发生热故障或放电的情况下,局部温度可能达到特征温度,从而发生不可逆的化学变化并释放出特征气体。
在不同温度下XLPE热解气体的红外光谱图如图7所示。从图7可以看出,在300℃以下XLPE分解产生的气体以水汽为主,在343℃以上达到XLPE的分解温度,产生大量C5以上的长链烷烃特征峰,并且出现乙烯、丙烯的特征峰,说明已经分解产生大量小分子,并且释放出大量CO和CO2。在400℃时,C5以上的长链烷烃、CO和CO2为主要分解产物,而乙烯、丙烯的吸收峰较弱。在500℃时,达到XLPE的最快分解温度,主要特征分解产物包括乙烯、丙烯、C5以上长链烷烃以及C6H14等长链烯烃,且特征峰强度进一步提升至300℃下的25倍左右,此外CO和CO2的吸收峰强度也进一步增强。
在空气气氛下,对XLPE在不同温度下的分解气体进行了气相色谱测试,结果如图8所示。从图8可以看出,在100℃时XLPE基本不分解,仅有少部分交联剂等助剂分解,产生CO2和少量甲烷。在200℃时,产生的H2、CO、CO2等略有增加,但其他气体含量基本不变。在343℃时,达到XLPE分解温度,产生大量CO2和CO,以及少量氢气、甲烷、乙烯和乙烷。这说明在343℃时XLPE分解产生的乙烯和乙烷等小分子烷烃易被氧化生成CO2和CO,残留较少。除了C元素外,XLPE中还包含H元素,因此在分解温度以上还会产生大量的H2。在400℃下保持30 min后,XLPE分解气化程度已较为完全(相比TG-IR,该方法加热时间更长,因此500℃与400℃下的分解程度基本一致),CO2、CO、H2的浓度显著提高。
针对XLPE分解过程中自由基反应路径难以通过实验观测、混合气体红外光谱中相似气体特征峰不易辨析等问题,本研究采用基于ReaxFF的反应分子动力学方法进行仿真,从原子尺度研究不同因素影响下XLPE的产气行为。通过设置热解温度模拟热解下的产气过程,通过设置电场、应用考虑原子间相互作用的分子模拟力场、放电下对应的高温来模拟击穿瞬间的产气过程。
对分子动力学模拟结果进行两类统计分析,包括计算XLPE分解过程中分子量高于200的物质的总相对分子质量,以及统计单一物质的气体分子个数随时间的变化,结果分别如图9图10所示。
图9可以看出,XLPE的分解行为在模拟放电和模拟过热条件下表现出显著差异。在模拟放电条件下,分解十分剧烈,固态物分子量迅速下降,而在模拟过热条件下,由于可逆反应的存在、没有电场加速带电粒子运动以及反应机理不同,最大簇分子质量在10 000~50 000 ps内下降缓慢,分子量随时间呈线性降低。此外,在模拟放电条件下XLPE的分解速率比模拟过热条件下更快,与实验结果基本吻合,这是由于放电条件下XLPE的分解受到电和热的耦合作用。从图10可以看出,在模拟过热条件下,0~10 000 ps阶段主要发生端基断裂反应,生成的气体以乙烯、丙烯、H2和氢自由基为主。其中,乙烯和丙烯的生成量随时间逐渐增加,而H2的生成量随时间缓慢增加,氢自由基的生成量保持稳定。在模拟放电条件下,乙炔的生成表现出显著的氧气依赖性,即在无氧条件下其生成量先上升后保持稳定,而在含氧条件下其生成量先上升后下降(图10(e))。在仿真中,基于时温等效性原则,对分解进行了一定加速,以上仿真结果与实验观测的XLPE分解气体特性基本符合。
为进一步识别和分析XLPE分解过程中生成的特征气体,通过DFT计算建立了特征气体的红外谱图库。该谱图库计算的是单一原子的振动光谱,因此可以用该谱图库峰高作为标准气体统一浓度进行归一化处理,建立仿真和实验气体红外数据库。图11展示了部分特征气体的红外光谱结果。其中,3 000 cm-1附近为烃类气体的特征峰,包括C5以上的长链烷烃及乙烷、丙烷等物质的特征峰。初步建立的谱图库包含了故障诊断中主要气体的特征峰波数范围,为后续XLPE击穿故障及热分解过程中产气行为的实时检测提供了可靠的理论基础。
XLPE分解过程中增量气体(即该阶段相比前一个阶段产生的特征气体集合,统计增量气体可以获取该阶段的产气特征)的生成特性在不同气氛和作用条件下表现出显著差异。对于热解产气而言,可根据热失重曲线的实验结果按照特征温度、与热重联用的红外光谱划分的产气行为变化(光谱峰明显变化)温度以及根据分子动力学模拟结果的产物变化划分不同分解阶段;对于电解产气而言,主要基于分子动力学模拟得出的放电时间进行阶段划分。结合无氧与含氧条件下的热场和电场作用,分析了各阶段的增量气体组成及其红外光谱特性,如图12所示。
(1)热场作用下的增量气体特性
图12(a)所示,在纯热作用下,XLPE在分解初期主要生成大量不饱和物质和碳化程度较高的颗粒。由于XLPE的基本单体为乙烯,其分子链断裂后优先形成不饱和度为1的烃类,长链烷烃的生成量较低;而高不饱和度(不饱和度≥2)物质由于初期脱氢不足,在初始阶段生成量有限。随着反应深入,氢原子逐渐脱离分子链,高不饱和度产物的比例上升,并伴随含碳颗粒的形成,由于这些产物的红外吸收能力较弱,反映为甲基峰光谱信号逐渐减弱。
在高温作用下,氢气和碳氢化合物进一步被氧化,生成大量CO2、CO和H2O。随着反应持续进行,红外光谱中CO2的特征吸收峰迅速增强,而长链烃类的生成量显著降低,表明氧气抑制了还原性烃类的积累,推动反应朝完全氧化方向发展。
(2)电场作用下的增量气体特性
击穿电压下的高能放电显著改变了XLPE的裂解路径,如图12(b)所示,分解产物以H2和乙炔为主。放电所产生的激发态导致乙烯快速转化为乙炔和氢气,其他气体产物相对较少。红外光谱在放电初期表现出小分子物质(如乙炔)的强吸收峰,并伴随明显的气体膨胀现象。反应后期H2和乙炔仍占主导,长链烷烃生成量骤减,且相较于单纯热作用下的XLPE,其结构不饱和度更高。有氧环境下,高能放电叠加氧气作用,进一步强化了氧化过程,使碳氢化合物的生成受到抑制,生成大量氧化产物(CO2、CO、H2O),并在高温的进一步作用下,残余烃类物质氧化为含氧烃类物质。
采用图13(a)所示装置对10 kV XLPE电缆进行表面放电产气验证实验,由于XLPE绝缘裕度较大,难以击穿和控制放电位置,试验电极设置为表面尖锐电极,间距为2 mm(见图13(b)),击穿试验结果如图13(c)所示,放电痕迹的存在印证了击穿时存在高能放电行为。通过气阀用取样针抽取腔体内30 mL气体,经红外光谱测试发现,XLPE表面击穿主要产生大量甲烷、CO、CO2、乙烯等气体,并且存在乙炔(见图14),利用气-质联用仪进一步分析,发现分解气体中还含有庚烷、戊烯等长链烃类物质,但这些物质含量较少。以上试验结果验证了本文模拟方法的合理性。
本文研究了XLPE在电场和热场作用下的降解行为,并分析了其产气特性。通过实验和模拟相结合的方法,揭示了XLPE在不同条件下的产气机理,结论如下:
(1)在热场作用下,XLPE主要分解生成乙烯、丙烯和长链烃类,并伴随CO和CO2等氧化产物;在电场作用下,分解气体以乙炔和丙炔为主。
(2)通过基于ReaxFF的分子动力学模拟揭示了热分解以端基断裂为主,而电场作用会加速自由基反应,形成更多高不饱和度气体,仿真结果与实验结果基本一致。
(3)氧气环境可显著促进碳氢化合物的氧化过程,在热和电场作用下均可抑制还原性气体生成,导致CO和CO2等氧化产物占比提升,含氧官能团吸收峰增强。
(4)通过对电/热应力作用下XLPE材料的产气特性进行阶段划分,为基于产气特性的XLPE故障诊断提供了理论基础。
