In this study, 4,4ʹ-diaminobenzanilide (DABA), 2,2ʹ-dimethyl-[1,1ʹ-biphenyl]-4,4ʹ-diamine (m-TB), dianhydrides pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA), and 4,4ʹ-oxybisphthalic anhydride (ODPA) were used as raw materials, and a polyimide (PI) film for oganic light emitting diodes (OLED) flexible substrates was successfully synthesized. The results show that when the molar ratio of diamine to dianhydride is 0.990, the feeding time is 120 min, the reaction temperature is 0-30℃, the stirring speed is 200-250 r/min, and the reaction time is 240 min, the gel amount during the synthesis of polyamide acid is small, and viscosity can meet the requirements of industrial synthesis. After thermal imimization at 400℃, the glass transition temperature of the polyimide film is 450℃, the 1% weight loss temperature is 554℃, the thermal expansion coefficient is 4.1×10-6 K-1, the tensile strength is 326.9 MPa, the tensile modulus is 9 572.8 MPa, the electric strength is 623 kV/mm, and the dielectric constant is 3.251, which meet the industrial application requirements of OLED flexible substrate.

本研究以4,4ʹ-二氨基苯酰替苯胺(DABA)和4,4ʹ-二氨基-2,2ʹ-二甲基联苯(m-TB)与均苯四甲酸二酐(PMDA)和4,4,-氧双邻苯二甲酸酐(ODPA)为原料,成功合成了有机发光二极管(OLED)柔性基板用聚酰亚胺(PI)薄膜。结果表明:当二胺与二酐摩尔比为0.990、加料时间为120 min、反应温度为0~30℃、搅拌速度为200~250 r/min、反应时间为240 min时,聚酰胺酸合成过程凝胶量少,黏度满足工业化合成要求。经400℃热亚胺化后,所得PI薄膜的玻璃化转变温度为450℃,1%热失重温度为554℃,热膨胀系数为4.1×10-6 K-1,拉伸强度为326.9 MPa,拉伸模量为9 572.8 MPa,电气强度为623 kV/mm,介电常数为3.251,这些参数指标满足OLED柔性基板的工业应用要求。

In this study, 4,4ʹ-diaminobenzanilide (DABA), 2,2ʹ-dimethyl-[1,1ʹ-biphenyl]-4,4ʹ-diamine (m-TB), dianhydrides pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA), and 4,4ʹ-oxybisphthalic anhydride (ODPA) were used as raw materials, and a polyimide (PI) film for oganic light emitting diodes (OLED) flexible substrates was successfully synthesized. The results show that when the molar ratio of diamine to dianhydride is 0.990, the feeding time is 120 min, the reaction temperature is 0-30℃, the stirring speed is 200-250 r/min, and the reaction time is 240 min, the gel amount during the synthesis of polyamide acid is small, and viscosity can meet the requirements of industrial synthesis. After thermal imimization at 400℃, the glass transition temperature of the polyimide film is 450℃, the 1% weight loss temperature is 554℃, the thermal expansion coefficient is 4.1×10-6 K-1, the tensile strength is 326.9 MPa, the tensile modulus is 9 572.8 MPa, the electric strength is 623 kV/mm, and the dielectric constant is 3.251, which meet the industrial application requirements of OLED flexible substrate.

自有机发光二极管(OLED)技术首次问世以来,通过持续的研究和创新,柔性OLED技术已经取得了重大突破[1-6]。传统刚性OLED显示器通常使用玻璃基板作为支撑材料,对显示器的质量、厚度和弯曲性能提出了严格要求。而柔性OLED技术采用聚合物柔性衬底作为支撑材料,赋予了显示器轻薄和可弯曲的特性。因此,在手机、平板、可穿戴电子设备等领域,柔性OLED的应用取得了显著进展。同时柔性OLED具备自发光功能,保证了显示器卓越的图像质量。综上所述,柔性OLED技术的发展显著改善了用户的使用体验,同时也推动了科技进步[7-9]。在OLED显示器等图像显示装置中,薄膜晶体管(TFT)被用作像素开关元件。与非晶硅相比,结晶性优异的多晶硅电子迁移率高,因此多晶硅常代替非晶硅应用于TFT。形成多晶硅膜的方法之一是准分子激光/退火(ELA)法。该方法中的非晶硅脱氢化工艺需要高温处理,而处理温度越高,TFT的性能就越卓越。迄今为止,高温处理一直在玻璃基板上进行,但柔性OLED需要将玻璃基板替换为柔性基板。聚酰亚胺(PI)作为一类主链上含有酰亚胺环(-CO-NH-CO-)的聚合物,其分子结构极为稳定[10],具有高Tg、优异热稳定性和尺寸稳定性的优点,在柔性OLED电子器件中被视为极具潜力的应用材料[11-15]
柔性衬底需要承受多晶硅薄膜晶体管加工过程中的高温,并与设备中无机成分的热膨胀系数(CTE,理想CTE为0~5×10-6 K-1)相匹配[8]。然而,由于聚酰亚胺材料具有相对较高的热膨胀系数 (>20×10-6 K-1),在多次高温加热和冷却循环过程中容易引起应力和开裂,在采用高温制造工艺 (>350℃)加工时存在挑战。因此,提高玻璃化转变温度(Tg)和降低CTE是PI衬底材料研究的重点。目前制备无机-有机杂化材料[16]、引入氢键网络[17]以及新型单体设计[4]3种方法可以有效提高PI的Tg和降低CTE。但是,无机填料的分散性问题使得PI的热稳定性较差,氢键网络会随温度的升高而减弱,导致高温下PI的CTE大幅增加。而不同单体带有不同基团,这些基团在分子链上的比例和位置的不同均会显著影响分子链段的运动及结晶和交联行为,进而影响材料的Tg和CTE。因此,分子链结构设计被认为是有潜力的研究方向。此外,提高PI的绝缘强度与力学性能等关键参量可降低薄膜厚度,减少用量和降低成本。为改善PI薄膜的综合性能,研究人员已经进行了大量工作[18-22],但现有的PI薄膜难以同时具备高温稳定性和高电气强度,限制了其在柔性OLED基板中的应用[23-29]
为解决上述问题,本研究基于分子结构设计的思想,利用芳香二酐(均苯四甲酸二酐和4,4ʹ-氧双邻苯二甲酸酐)和芳香二胺(4,4ʹ-二氨基苯酰替苯胺和4,4ʹ-二氨基-2,2ʹ-二甲基联苯)为单体,设计交替共聚的分子链结构,其中4,4ʹ-二氨基苯酰替苯胺是为了增加分子链中的氢键给体数目,增强分子链间的相互作用;4,4ʹ-二氨基-2,2ʹ-二甲基联苯是为了引入甲基,降低分子链间的电荷转移络合物;另外均苯四甲酸二酐和4,4ʹ-氧双邻苯二甲酸酐共聚能调控PI薄膜的力学性能,增强分子链间的相互作用,减小薄膜中的自由体积,进而开发一种新型高性能、可用于OLED柔性基板的PI薄膜。
均苯四甲酸二酐(PMDA,CAS:89-32-7),纯度为99.5%,工业品;4,4ʹ-氧双邻苯二甲酸酐(ODPA,CAS:1823-59-2),纯度为99.5%,工业品;4,4ʹ-二氨基苯酰替苯胺(DABA,CAS:785-30-8),纯度为99.5%,工业品;4,4ʹ-二氨基-2,2ʹ-二甲基联苯(m-TB,CAS:84-67-3),纯度为99.5%,工业品;N-甲基吡咯烷酮,纯度为99%,工业品。
热重分析仪,型号为TG 209F3,德国耐驰公司;热机械分析仪,型号为TMA 402 F1,德国耐驰公司;万能试验机,型号为AQS-X,日本岛津公司;等离子体质谱仪(ICP MS),型号为7900,美国安捷伦公司;旋涂机,型号为KW-4L-I,中科院微电子研究所;高温烘箱,型号为PHH-102,日本爱斯佩克公司;离子色谱仪,型号为CIC-D180,青岛盛翰色谱技术有限公司;电压击穿试验仪,型号为DDJ-10KV,北京冠测精电仪器设备有限公司;旋转黏度计,型号为NDJ-5S,上海昌吉地质仪器有限公司。
凝胶量测量方法如下:称量实验合成的胶液15 g;用5 µm滤网过滤合成胶液得到凝胶,将凝胶用溶剂N-甲基吡咯烷酮洗涤3次,每次溶剂用量为10 mL,减压至0.095 MPa滤干并在该压力、80℃条件下保持3 h,之后将温度降至20℃、压力降至常压,称其质量即为凝胶量m
在带有温度计的三口玻璃烧瓶中通入高纯度氮气,经过30 min后,加入200 mL的N-甲基吡咯烷酮,然后在搅拌条件下加入等摩尔比的4,4ʹ-二氨基苯酰替苯胺和4,4ʹ-二氨基-2,2ʹ-二甲基联苯各0.045 mol。在充分溶解后,将温度降至0℃,分批加入等摩尔比的均苯四甲酸二酐和4,4ʹ-氧双邻苯二甲酸酐各0.046 mol,并精确控制加料速度,以确保反应液的温度不超过10℃。完成加料后,反应持续300 min,并始终控制反应温度不超过30℃。在反应时间结束后,通过过滤获得固含量为15%的聚酰胺酸溶液。
利用获得的聚酰胺酸溶液,在涂膜机上均匀涂膜,然后将其置于高温烘箱中,在氮气气氛下进行高温亚胺化处理,处理程序为80℃/60 min+150℃/30 min+210℃/30 min+250℃/30 min+350℃/30 min+400℃/30 min。亚胺化处理完成后,将基板取出并降至室温,然后进行剥离,最终获得柔性OLED基板所需的PI薄膜。制备PI薄膜的流程如图1所示。
据前期研究报道可知[30],有机二胺,如4,4ʹ-二氨基苯酰替苯胺和4,4ʹ-二氨基-2,2ʹ-二甲基联苯,与有机二酐,如均苯四甲酸二酐和4,4ʹ-氧双邻苯二甲酸酐反应生成聚酰胺酸的开环加成反应是一个放热反应,表1中的量热实验结果也证实了这一点。因此,在合成聚酰胺酸的过程中,反应液的温度对于聚酰胺酸的合成过程和性能都具有显著影响。
通过观察实验过程中是否产生凝胶,本文研究了温度对聚酰胺酸合成过程的影响。在实验中,将搅拌速度保持在200 r/min,并将加料时间控制在20 min内,得到不同温度下实验过程中的凝胶生成情况如表2所示。
表2的数据可以得知,当温度低于30℃时,聚酰胺酸的合成过程不会产生凝胶,但当温度高于30℃时,凝胶的生成逐渐增多。产生这一现象的原因在于,聚酰胺酸的合成是一个放热反应,其绝热温升为33.1 K。考虑到反应时环境温度,实际的反应温度将轻易突破50℃,导致反应速度急剧增加,聚酰胺酸分子量瞬间迅速增大,无法被充分溶解,从而形成了凝胶。基于对反应温度的研究,将反应温度范围限定为0~30℃,其中加料温度维持在0~10℃,并确保保温反应温度不超过30℃。
由于不同的二胺与二酐反应活性的差异,其共聚反应速度也不同,因此加料时间对聚酰胺酸的合成过程也有显著影响。图2为反应过程中凝胶量随加料时间的变化关系。从图2可以看出,延长加料时间可有效减少聚酰胺酸合成过程中凝胶的产生,提高原料的利用率。这主要是因为当加料时间过短时,反应物浓度较高,导致反应热集中释放,局部反应温度升高,从而加速了聚合反应,此时分子量急剧增加,聚酰胺酸生成物不能及时溶解,最终导致凝胶的形成。为确保在合成过程中不出现凝胶,同时节省工艺时间,确认最佳的加料时间为120 min。同理,结合图3中搅拌速度对凝胶量的影响分析,通过实验工艺优化后,最终确定搅拌速度为200~250 r/min。
这里的反应时间指的是在聚酰胺酸合成过程中,原料完全加入后继续反应的时间。在该时间内反应物持续发生反应,聚酰胺酸分子量逐渐增加,聚酰胺酸溶液的黏度也随之增加,直到达到目标黏度后才结束反应,最终得到聚酰胺酸溶液。在反应温度控制为0~30℃、加料时间为120 min、搅拌速度为200 r/min的条件下,本文研究了反应时间对聚酰胺酸溶液黏度的影响,结果如图4所示。从图4可以看出,原料加入后的初期反应阶段,聚酰胺酸溶液的黏度迅速增加。随着反应时间的延长,黏度增加速度逐渐减小,直至反应时间达到240 min时,黏度基本稳定在5 960 mPa·s左右。此时进一步延长反应时间黏度变化不明显。这说明DABA与m-TB两种二胺与PMDA、ODPA的共聚反应基本完成。因此,本文将反应时间设定为240 min。
在合成反应中,原料二酐和二胺的摩尔比对聚酰胺酸的黏度有重要影响。理论上,当二酐与二胺的摩尔比为1∶1时,聚酰胺酸的分子量最大,其溶液的黏度也最大。然而,在柔性OLED基板制备中,聚酰胺酸溶液的黏度并非越大越好。黏度过大会导致在涂敷制备柔性OLED基板时难以获得均匀的薄膜,从而影响制膜工艺的良率,增加工艺成本[31]。在反应温度控制为0~30℃、加料时间为120 min、搅拌速度为200 r/min的条件下,本文研究了二酐和二胺的摩尔比对OLED柔性基板用聚酰胺酸黏度的影响,结果如图5所示。从图5可以看出,二酐和二胺的摩尔比对聚酰胺酸的黏度有显著的影响,特别是当摩尔比接近1时,影响更为显著。在二胺和二酐摩尔比为0.950、0.960、0.970、0.980、0.985、0.990和0.995的情况下,聚酰胺酸溶液的黏度分别为745、1 145、2 893、4 816、5 368、5 965、44 931 mPa·s。根据OLED柔性基板制备工艺的需求,聚酰胺酸溶液的适宜黏度为4 000~6 000 mPa·s。综合考虑,在合成OLED柔性基板用聚酰胺酸时,将二胺和二酐的摩尔比定为0.990。
PI分子中的结构单元是影响基板PI薄膜性能的重要因素。图6为以芳香二酐(均苯四甲酸二酐和4,4ʹ-氧双邻苯二甲酸酐)和芳香二胺(4,4ʹ-二氨基苯酰替苯胺和4,4ʹ-二氨基-2,2ʹ-二甲基联苯)为单体设计的OLED柔性基板用PI薄膜的分子结构。其中,酰亚胺环状结构是PI的特征官能团,它的占比影响PI的耐热性(热分解温度、玻璃转化温度和热膨胀系数)以及力学性能(拉伸强度、拉伸模量)[32]。随着二酐与二胺摩尔比的变化,OLED柔性基板用PI薄膜分子结构中酰亚胺环状结构的含量也发生变化,进而影响其性能。图7为在二胺与二酐摩尔比为0.990时,酰亚胺结构含量对OLED柔性基板用PI薄膜性能的影响结果。图7中,H为OLED柔性基板用PI薄膜分子结构中重复单元结构中酰亚胺结构的质量含量,H=100(138.6/M),M为OLED柔性基板用PI薄膜分子结构中重复结构单元的质量,M=214x+195y+306(0.990-x)+180(1-y)。从图7可以看出,随着OLED柔性基板用PI薄膜分子链段中酰亚胺结构含量的减少,PI薄膜的力学性能和耐热性能逐渐下降,具体表现为随酰亚胺结构含量的减少,拉伸强度、拉伸模量、1%热失重温度(Td1%)和玻璃化转变温度降低,热膨胀系数增加。
亚胺化温度也是影响OLED柔性基板用PI薄膜性能的主要因素之一。适当的亚胺化温度,既能使亚胺化反应进行彻底,也能使PI分子链之间产生尽可能强的分子间力,从而提高OLED基板用PI薄膜的耐热性能、力学性能和绝缘性能。不同亚胺化温度对OLED柔性基板用PI薄膜性能的影响如图8所示。从图8可以看出,随着亚胺化温度从250℃升高到450℃时,OLED柔性基板用PI薄膜的拉伸强度、拉伸模量、玻璃化转变温度、1%热失重温度等性能指标均呈逐渐增大的趋势,其中1%热失重温度在400℃热亚胺化后为554℃,而热膨胀系数则逐渐减小。这表明适度提高亚胺化温度有利于提高PI薄膜的力学性能和热稳定性。然而,PI薄膜的电气强度在这一过程中从634 kV/mm减小到618 kV/mm,介电常数则从3.194逐渐增大,并在400℃热亚胺化后达到了3.251。这表明升高亚胺化温度对于提高PI薄膜的绝缘性能并不利。因此,在综合考虑OLED柔性基板的性能、柔性器件制备工艺以及工艺成本等因素时,将亚胺化温度设定为400℃。
(1)使用有机二胺,包括4,4ʹ-二氨基苯酰替苯胺和4,4ʹ-二氨基-2,2ʹ-二甲基联苯,以及有机二酐,包括均苯四甲酸二酐和4,4ʹ-氧双邻苯二甲酸酐作为原料,成功合成了OLED柔性基板用聚酰胺酸溶液,并通过高温亚胺化工艺制备出了高性能PI薄膜。
(2)在二胺与二酐摩尔比为0.990、加料时间为120 min、反应温度为0~30℃、搅拌速度为200~250 r/min、反应时间为240 min的条件下,制得的PI薄膜符合OLED柔性基板的应用要求。
(3)经过400℃热亚胺化处理后,PI薄膜的玻璃化温度为450℃,1%热失重温度为554℃,热膨胀系数为4.1×10-6 K-1,拉伸强度为326.9 MPa,拉伸模量为9 572.8 MPa,电气强度为623 kV/mm,介电常数为3.251,这些参数指标满足OLED柔性基板的工业应用要求。
