According to the application requirements of thermoplastic black polyimide film in the field of advanced flexible copper clad laminate (FCCL), three organo-soluble polyimide (SPI) resins were prepared from an aromatic diamine monomer containing chromogenic imine (-NH-) group, 4,4′-diaminodiphenylamine (NDA) and various dianhydrides, including 4,4′-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride (6FDA), 2,2-bis[4-(3,4-dicarboxyphenoxy)phenyl]propane dianhydride (BPADA), and hydrogenated 3,3′,4,4′- biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride (HBPDA) by polymerization. Then PI films were prepared from SPI/DMAc solution at relatively low temperature (80-250℃), and the effects of the above characteristic groups on the optical properties, thermal properties, and electrical properties of PI films were studied systematically. The results show that the SPI resin has good solubility in polar aprotic solvents such as N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) and N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc). The SPI films show intrinsically deep color, the transmittance value at 550 nm of wavelength (T500) is lower than 5%, and the lightness (L*) is below 60. The PI films have good thermal stabilities, the glass transition temperatures (Tg) is up to 375.9℃ and the 5% weight loss temperatures (T5%) is over 500℃ in nitrogen. Besides, the PI films exhibit good electrical insulating properties, the volume resistivities (ρv) is higher than 1015 Ω·cm.

针对先进柔性覆铜板(FCCL)领域对热塑性黑色聚酰亚胺薄膜的应用需求,采用含有生色亚胺 (-NH-)基团的芳香族二胺单体4,4′-二胺基二苯胺(NDA)分别与一系列二酐单体,包括4,4′-(六氟异亚丙基)双邻苯二甲酸酐(6FDA)、2,2-双[4-(3,4-二羧基苯氧基)苯基]丙烷二酐(BPADA)以及氢化3,3′,4,4′-联苯四甲酸二酐(HBPDA)等聚合制备了3种有机可溶性PI(SPI)树脂,然后采用SPI/DMAc溶液在相对较低温度下(80~250℃)制备了PI薄膜。系统研究上述特征基团的引入对PI薄膜光学性能、热性能以及电学性能的影响机制。结果表明:制备的SPI树脂在极性非质子性溶剂,如N-甲基吡咯烷酮(NMP)、NN-二甲基乙酰胺(DMAc)中具有良好的溶解性。制备的SPI薄膜具有本征深色特性,其在500 nm波长处的透光率(T500)小于5%,明度(L*)低于60。此外,该系列薄膜具有良好的耐热性能,玻璃化转变温度(Tg)最高可达375.9℃,氮气中5%失重温度(T5%)高于500℃。该系列薄膜还具有良好的电绝缘特性,其体积电阻率(ρv)均超过1015 Ω· cm。

针对先进柔性覆铜板(FCCL)领域对热塑性黑色聚酰亚胺薄膜的应用需求,采用含有生色亚胺 (-NH-)基团的芳香族二胺单体4,4′-二胺基二苯胺(NDA)分别与一系列二酐单体,包括4,4′-(六氟异亚丙基)双邻苯二甲酸酐(6FDA)、2,2-双[4-(3,4-二羧基苯氧基)苯基]丙烷二酐(BPADA)以及氢化3,3′,4,4′-联苯四甲酸二酐(HBPDA)等聚合制备了3种有机可溶性PI(SPI)树脂,然后采用SPI/DMAc溶液在相对较低温度下(80~250℃)制备了PI薄膜。系统研究上述特征基团的引入对PI薄膜光学性能、热性能以及电学性能的影响机制。结果表明:制备的SPI树脂在极性非质子性溶剂,如N-甲基吡咯烷酮(NMP)、NN-二甲基乙酰胺(DMAc)中具有良好的溶解性。制备的SPI薄膜具有本征深色特性,其在500 nm波长处的透光率(T500)小于5%,明度(L*)低于60。此外,该系列薄膜具有良好的耐热性能,玻璃化转变温度(Tg)最高可达375.9℃,氮气中5%失重温度(T5%)高于500℃。该系列薄膜还具有良好的电绝缘特性,其体积电阻率(ρv)均超过1015 Ω· cm。

According to the application requirements of thermoplastic black polyimide film in the field of advanced flexible copper clad laminate (FCCL), three organo-soluble polyimide (SPI) resins were prepared from an aromatic diamine monomer containing chromogenic imine (-NH-) group, 4,4′-diaminodiphenylamine (NDA) and various dianhydrides, including 4,4′-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride (6FDA), 2,2-bis[4-(3,4-dicarboxyphenoxy)phenyl]propane dianhydride (BPADA), and hydrogenated 3,3′,4,4′- biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride (HBPDA) by polymerization. Then PI films were prepared from SPI/DMAc solution at relatively low temperature (80-250℃), and the effects of the above characteristic groups on the optical properties, thermal properties, and electrical properties of PI films were studied systematically. The results show that the SPI resin has good solubility in polar aprotic solvents such as N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) and N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc). The SPI films show intrinsically deep color, the transmittance value at 550 nm of wavelength (T500) is lower than 5%, and the lightness (L*) is below 60. The PI films have good thermal stabilities, the glass transition temperatures (Tg) is up to 375.9℃ and the 5% weight loss temperatures (T5%) is over 500℃ in nitrogen. Besides, the PI films exhibit good electrical insulating properties, the volume resistivities (ρv) is higher than 1015 Ω·cm.

近年来,随着电子器件向着高密度化、微型化、柔性化方向的不断发展,柔性覆铜板(FCCL)作为其中的关键组件得到了广泛的重视[1-3]。FCCL主要由作为基板的聚酰亚胺(PI)薄膜以及作为导体的铜箔按照一定的工艺复合而成。FCCL的分类方法很多,例如按照PI与铜箔的复合方式可分为单面FCCL与双面FCCL;按照PI与铜箔的复合工艺可分为有胶型和无胶型等[4-5]。多年来,FCCL一直是伴随着电子信息工业的应用需求而不断地发展与更新。例如,为了适应电子器件薄型化的应用需求,传统的使用胶黏剂的有胶型(3层,PI/胶黏剂/铜箔)FCCL逐渐向着无胶型(两层,PI/铜箔)FCCL发展[6]。再如,近年来为了适应第五代(5G)移动通讯技术高频信号传输的应用需求,FCCL逐渐向着低介电化方向发展,以有效减小信号传输过程中的介质损耗与导体损耗等[7]。FCCL的每一次发展都带动着其组成材料结构的变化。例如,无胶型FCCL的发展推动了热塑型PI薄膜的应用研究,而高频FCCL的发展则带动了低介电型PI薄膜与胶黏剂以及低表面粗糙度铜箔的快速发展[8]
近年来,FCCL基础与应用研究领域中出现了另外一个重要的发展方向,即黑色化[9-12]。如图1所示,黑色FCCL(B-FCCL)与标准型的FCCL相比,其基材为黑色PI薄膜。黑色PI薄膜的应用一方面是处于美学方面的考虑,更重要的是出于有效防止外部可见光和紫外光对FCCL内部电路的老化以及保护内部电路设计的知识产权不被抄袭等目的。
目前黑色PI薄膜的制造主要是通过在常规PI薄膜中复合炭黑或者有机黑色染料,或者通过在常规PI薄膜表面涂覆黑色涂层等工艺来实现。但炭黑的导电特性会导致黑色PI薄膜的电性能发生显著劣化[13]。此外炭黑的不均匀分布会导致PI薄膜的力学性能下降[14]。而有机黑色染料往往因其耐热性较差且着色力不够,不能完全满足电学、光学应用方面的性能要求[15]。因此,近年来在众多高科技领域中对具有可保持PI薄膜固有电学性能和力学性能的本征黑色PI薄膜的需求与日俱增[16]。然而目前文献中关于通过分子设计方法来研制开发本征深色PI膜的研究鲜有报道。LIU T Q等[17]采用分子结构中含有高度共轭喹噁啉环结构的芳香族二胺单体与常规芳香族二酐单体通过两步热亚胺化工艺制备了一系列外观呈现深红色的PI薄膜。本课题组之前通过选择分子结构中含有亚胺基生色基团的芳香族二胺单体——4,4′-二氨基二苯胺(NDA)与均苯四甲酸二酐(PMDA)和4,4′-二氨基二苯醚(ODA)进行共聚,制备了本征黑色PI薄膜[18]。研究结果显示,NDA单元的引入确实可以赋予PI薄膜本征深色特性,而且薄膜可保持固有的热稳定性和电绝缘性。NDA之所以可以赋予PI薄膜本征深色特性与其分子结构特征密切相关。一方面,NDA分子结构中亚胺基N原子上的孤对电子可促进PI分子链及分子间电荷转移(CT)作用的发生,使得PI薄膜在可见光区产生显著的吸收。另一方面,亚胺基 (-NH-)在高温氧化环境(如热亚胺化过程中)中易被氧化,生成黑色物质,进而赋予PI薄膜较深的黑色。随后,我们采用PMDA、NDA与分子结构中含有刚性咪唑环的二胺单体2-(4-氨基苯基)-5-氨基苯并咪唑(APBI)进行共聚,进一步降低了本征黑色PI薄膜的线性热膨胀系数(CTE)[19]。当NDA与APBI的摩尔比为7∶3时,PI薄膜具有与铜箔相近的CTE,当与铜箔复合制备FCCL时不会出现卷曲剥离等不良现象,在黑色FCCL中具有良好的应用前景。
目前文献中报道的关于本征深色PI薄膜的研究基本上是采用两步亚胺化工艺,即首先制得可溶性聚酰胺酸(PAA)前驱体,然后进行高温亚胺化,最终制得PI薄膜。亚胺化温度一般高达350℃甚至更高。过高的亚胺化温度一方面会引发铜箔的氧化问题,同时也限制了这类深色PI薄膜在众多温度敏感型领域中的应用。另一方面PAA在亚胺化过程中伴随着分子内脱水反应的发生。脱除的水分子有可能在PI薄膜内部产生“针孔”等缺陷,进而影响FCCL的性能[20]。因此,近年来关于低温固化型PI薄膜的研究在FCCL领域中得到了广泛关注。另外,随着电子器件的小型化与薄型化,两层无胶型FCCL逐渐得到市场的认可,并且保持了快速的发展趋势。该工艺要求PI薄膜具有良好的热塑性特征[21]。综上所述,兼具低温固化、热塑性、耐高温、低CTE以及本征深色特性的PI薄膜成为学术界与工业界共同关注的话题。但遗憾的是,目前为了实现上述应用需求进行的PI结构改性手段之间存在着很强的制约关系。例如,为了赋予PI薄膜良好的热塑性和低温固化特性,需要通过在PI分子链中引入柔性基团以及降低PI分子链内部及分子链间的相互作用力,但上述改性手段同时会降低PI薄膜的高温尺寸稳定性(CTE)以及抑制PI分子链内部CT作用的发生,进而提高PI薄膜的光学透明性和减淡其颜色。因此,如何在上述改性手段中加以平衡,进而赋予PI薄膜优良的综合性能是一项颇具挑战性的研究课题。
本研究借鉴现有热塑性、低温固化PI薄膜研制开发的常规手段,包括将柔性醚键(如-O-等)、低摩尔极化率基团(如-CF3等)或者低共轭特性基团(如脂环基等)引入PI分子链中,同时采用NDA作为芳香族二胺单体进行聚合,研制开发兼具优良热塑性以及良好深色特征的PI薄膜。系统研究上述特征基团的引入对PI薄膜光学性能、热性能以及电学性能的影响机制,获得其结构与性能的关系,为未来研制开发高性能FCCL用黑色PI薄膜提供借鉴与参考。
4,4′-(六氟异亚丙基)双邻苯二甲酸酐(6FDA),纯度≥99.5%,常州市阳光药业有限公司,180℃真空干燥24 h。2,2-双[4-(3,4-二羧基苯氧基)苯基]丙烷二酐(BPADA),纯度≥99.0%,常州市阳光药业有限公司,160℃真空干燥24 h。氢化3,3′,4,4′-联苯四甲酸二酐(HBPDA),纯度≥99.5%,威海新元科盛新材料有限公司,150℃真空干燥24 h。4,4′-二胺基二苯胺(NDA),白色粒状晶体,实验室自制,纯度≥99.5%,乙醇重结晶。电子级N,N-二甲基乙酰胺(DMAc)与N-甲基吡咯烷酮(NMP),纯度≥99.8%,Na+浓度≤0.002‰,含水量≤0.2‰,杭州格林达电子材料股份有限公司,直接使用。其他试剂,分析纯,北京伊诺凯科技有限公司,直接使用。
根据二酐单体反应活性的差异,分别选择了“两步化学亚胺化”工艺以及“一步高温溶液缩聚”工艺制备可溶性PI树脂。其中基于芳香族二酐单体的SPI-1(6FDA-NDA)与SPI-2(BPADA-NDA)通过前者制备,而基于脂环族二酐单体的SPI-3(HBPDA-NDA)则通过后者制备。以SPI-1(6FDA-NDA)为例说明“两步化学亚胺化”工艺的制备过程。在一个配有机械搅拌器、温度计、冷水浴和氮气入口的500 mL三口玻璃烧瓶中加入DMAc(100.0 g),并用连续的氮气流置换反应瓶中的空气。然后加入NDA(9.962 5 g,50 mmol),并将反应体系冷却至5~10℃。在氮气流下搅拌10 min后获得澄清的二胺溶液。将二酐单体6FDA(22.212 0 g,50 mmol)加入到二胺溶液中,同时加入额外的DMAc(82.0 g),将反应体系固含量调整为15%。聚合反应体系在冷水浴中搅拌反应1 h,然后撤去冷水浴,自然升温至室温后继续搅拌反应24 h。然后,在得到的黏稠PAA溶液中加入酰亚胺化催化剂吡啶(31.6 g,400 mmol)和脱水剂乙酸酐(51.0 g,500 mmol),室温下继续搅拌反应24 h。将得到的棕色黏稠PI溶液缓慢倾倒在过量的乙醇水溶液(体积浓度为75%)中,得到灰褐色丝状沉淀。静置过夜后过滤收集得到的树脂,并在80℃下真空干燥24 h,得到灰褐色丝状SPI-1树脂29.16 g,收率为96%。核磁氢谱(400 MHz,DMSO-d6):8.68(s,1H),8.18~8.16(d,2H),7.96~7.94(d,2H),7.75(s,2H)以及7.32~7.24(m,8H)。
SPI-2(BPADA-NDA)树脂按照上述类似步骤制备,除了将6FDA置换为BPADA。棕黄色SPI-2树脂产量为32.82 g,收率为96%。核磁氢谱(400 MHz,DMSO-d6):8.64(s,1H),7.93(s,2H),7.38~7.06(m,20H)以及1.71(s,6H)。
采用“一步高温溶液缩聚”工艺制备SPI-3(HBPDA-NDA)树脂的流程如下:在一个配有机械搅拌器、温度计、Dean-Stark分水器和氮气入口的250 mL三口玻璃烧瓶中加入NMP(50.0 g),并用连续的氮气流置换反应瓶中的空气。然后加入NDA(9.962 5 g,50 mmol),在氮气流下搅拌10 min后获得澄清的二胺溶液。将二酐单体HBPDA(15.315 5 g,50 mmol)加入到二胺溶液中,同时加入额外的NMP(25.8 g),将反应体系固含量调整为25%。聚合反应体系在室温下搅拌反应1 h,加入甲苯(50.0 g)和催化剂异喹啉(0.2 g)。加热升温至130~140℃,开始有甲苯/水共沸物蒸馏出。将生成的水通过分水器去除,维持回流脱水5 h,直到分水器中不再有水分馏出。继续升温到180℃,期间多余的甲苯通过分水器蒸馏出。将分水器更换为回流冷凝管,维持恒温继续反应3 h。自然降温至室温,将得到的浅棕色黏稠PI溶液缓慢倾倒在过量的乙醇水溶液(体积浓度为75%)中,得到灰色丝状沉淀。静置过夜后过滤收集得到的树脂,并在80℃下真空干燥24 h,得到灰色丝状SPI-3树脂22.77 g,收率为97%。核磁氢谱(400 MHz,DMSO-d6):8.61(s,1H),7.15~7.11(m,8H),3.29(m,2H),3.01~2.96(m,2H),2.16~2.03(m,4H),1.61(m,4H),1.29~1.14(m,4H)以及0.97(m,2H)。
以SPI-1(6FDA-NDA)薄膜为例,说明PI薄膜的制备流程。称取完全干燥的SPI-1树脂3.0 g,加入到50 mL三口瓶中,加入12.0 g DMAc,室温搅拌24 h,使树脂充分溶解,得到均匀且黏稠的SPI-1溶液,固含量为15%。将制得的SPI-1溶液经过G1砂芯漏斗过滤,去除不溶物。滤液静置脱泡后采用刮刀均匀涂覆在洁净的玻璃板上。将玻璃板置于洁净的程序控温氮气保护烘箱中,按照80℃/1 h+120℃/1 h+150℃/1 h+180℃/1 h+250℃/1 h的程序进行干燥处理。自然降温后,将玻璃板浸泡于去离子水中并将SPI-1薄膜从玻璃板上剥离后,置于鼓风干燥箱中,100℃干燥3 h,得到棕红色SPI-1薄膜。
SPI-2(BPADA-NDA)与SPI-3(HBPDA-NDA)薄膜按照类似的工艺制备。
SPI树脂的特性黏度采用Ubbelohde黏度计测试,测试样品采用浓度为0.5 g/dL的SPI/NMP溶液,测试温度为25℃。SPI树脂的分子量,包括数均分子量(Mn)和重均分子量(Mw)采用日本岛津LC-20AD型凝胶渗透色谱(GPC)系统进行测定,仪器配备D1-LC型并联双柱塞泵,SIL-20A型全量进样型自动进样器,CTO-20A强制空气循环式柱温箱以及RID-20A紫外-可见检测器。使用高效液相色谱(HPLC)级NMP作为移动相,流率为1.0 mL/min。SPI溶液的绝对黏度采用美国Brookfield公司的DV-II+ Pro黏度计测试,测试温度为25℃。SPI薄膜的衰减全反射傅里叶变换红外(ATR-FTIR)光谱由Bruker Tensor-27型FT-IR光谱仪测定,波数范围为4 000~400 cm-1。X射线衍射(XRD)谱图由德国布鲁克公司的D8 Advance型X射线衍射仪测得,测试范围为3~90°。紫外可见光谱(UV-Vis)在室温下用日本日立公司U-3210分光光度计测试。SPI薄膜的黄度指数和浊度使用美国X-rite公司Ci7800型分光光度计测量(薄膜厚度为25 μm),并根据CIE Lab方程计算颜色参数。L*代表亮度,当其接近100时,表示趋于白色,接近0表示趋于黑色。参数中的a*若为正值则表示趋于红色,若为负值表示趋于绿色。b*若为正值表示趋于黄色,若为负值表示趋于蓝色。SPI薄膜的热分解温度采用美国Perkin-Elmer公司的STA-8000型热重分析仪(TGA)测试,测试温度为30~760℃,升温速率为20℃/min,测试环境为氮气,气体流量为20 mL/min。SPI薄膜的玻璃化转变温度(Tg)采用德国耐驰公司的DSC 214型差示扫描量热仪(DSC)测试,测试温度为30~400℃,升温速率为10℃/min,测试环境为氮气,气体流量为20 mL/min。线性热膨胀系数(CTE)使用德国耐驰公司TMA 402F3型热机械分析仪(TMA)在氮气环境中进行热力学分析,升温速率为10℃/min,升温范围为30~400℃。PI薄膜的体积电阻率(ρV)采用北京华测有限公司的HEST-200型表面与体积电阻率测试仪,按照GB/T 1410—2006在室温下测试。SPI薄膜的介电常数(Dk)与介质损耗因数(Df)测试:首先采用美国安捷伦公司的Aligent 4294A型阻抗分析仪测试薄膜的电容值Cp,测试频率为1 MHz。测试时在薄膜上下两侧均匀涂上导电银浆。PI薄膜的Df值直接测试得到,而Dkε)通过式(1)计算得到。

SPI树脂的溶解性测试:将SPI树脂按照固含量为10%的比例加入测试溶剂中进行溶解性测试。溶剂选用DMAc、NMP、三氯甲烷(CHCl3)、γ-丁内酯(GBL)、四氢呋喃、N,N-二甲基甲酰胺(DMF)、乙二醇丁醚(BC)、甲苯以及乙醇等。观察SPI树脂室温下在上述溶剂中浸泡24 h后的溶解情况。
图2给出了3种可溶性SPI树脂的合成路线。两种芳香族二酐单体6FDA与BPADA由于具有较高的反应活性,因此可采用图2(a)所示的常温两步化学亚胺化工艺制备,而脂环族二酐单体HBPDA由于室温下的反应活性较低,因此采用了图2(b)所示的一步高温溶液缩聚法进行制备。3种树脂在制备过程中,反应体系均保持了良好的均匀性,表明该系列树脂均可溶解于反应溶剂中。
对制得的3种SPI树脂进行了特性黏度([η]inh)和分子量测试,结果如表1所示。由表1中[η]inh值可以看出,3种树脂均具有中等到较高的分子量,表明NDA单体具有较高的反应活性。其中,SPI-1(6FDA-NDA)树脂表现出最高的[η]inh值(1.03 dL/g),表明6FDA在3种二酐单体中具有最高的反应活性。SPI-3(HBPDA-NDA)也表现出较高的[η]inh值(0.68 dL/g),表明脂环二酐单体HBPDA在高温下也表现出良好的反应活性。GPC测试结果显示,3种树脂的数均分子量(Mn)与重均分子量(Mw)分别在(4.0~23.3)×104 g/mol和(7.0~37.8)×104 g/mol,从大到小依次为SPI-1、SPI-3、SPI-2,这与特性黏度的变化规律是一致的。
进一步检验了SPI树脂在常见有机溶剂中的溶解性,测试结果如表1所示。从表1可以看出,制备的SPI树脂在极性非质子性溶剂,如NMP与DMAc中,以及在常规极性溶剂,如氯仿和THF中均具有良好的溶解性,而在极性相对较低的溶剂,如乙二醇丁醚和甲苯中则不溶。这种良好的溶解性主要归于SPI分子结构中二酐单元柔性的亚胺基以及二酐单元中柔性的六氟异丙基、醚键或环己基。图3所示的SPI树脂的XRD谱图验证了上述基团的引入显著降低了SPI树脂的结晶性,使其呈现出典型的非晶聚合物特征。这种非晶态结构有利于极性溶剂渗透到SPI分子链中,从而加速对SPI树脂的溶解。
为了进一步定量测试SPI树脂在DMAc中的溶解性,将3种树脂以不同固体含量溶于DMAc中,然后测试相应SPI溶液的黏度。该项研究有助于确定配制SPI溶液进行后续薄膜制备时所需要采用的固体含量。3种SPI树脂溶液的黏度(η)随固含量变化的曲线如图4所示。从图4可以看出,SPI溶液的绝对黏度均随着固含量的增大而增大。由于SPI-1树脂具有较高的分子量,因而当固含量为9%时,溶液的黏度即达到了10 340 mPa·s。SPI-2溶液的黏度在固含量为25%时为6 447 mPa·s,而固含量增加到30%时激增到16 190 mPa·s。SPI-3溶液的黏度在固含量为30%时为5 722 mPa·s,而固含量增加到35%时激增到27 320 mPa·s。因此,在相同固含量时,3种SPI溶液的黏度变化规律为η(SPI-1)>>η(SPI-2)>η(SPI-3)。SPI-3(HBPDA-NDA)体系的分子量虽然高于SPI-2(BPADA-NDA),但其溶液黏度却略低于后者,这表明SPI树脂溶液的黏度不仅受树脂分子量的影响,而且与PI分子链间的相互作用力也密切相关。SPI-3分子结构中,脂环HBPDA二酐单元不存在共轭作用,显著地降低了其分子链内部的相互作用。在本课题组之前的研究工作中也验证了HBPDA基SPI溶液是一类典型的“高固含量、低黏度”材料,该特性使其在光电集成电路芯片封装领域具有良好的应用前景[22]。由图4结果,最终确定配制3种SPI树脂溶液所采用的固含量分别为:SPI-1,8.8%;SPI-2,34.0%;SPI-3,32.0%。
采用ATR-FTIR以及1H-NMR手段表征了SPI的化学结构。图5给出了SPI薄膜的ATR-FTIR测试结果。为了进行比较,图5中还给出了起始NDA二胺单体的谱图。从图5可以看出,NDA分子结构中的伯氨基(-NH2)位于3 408 cm-1与3 389 cm-1波数处的特征吸收峰在SPI光谱中完全消失,而NDA分子结构中仲氨基(-NH)位于3 333 cm-1波数处的吸收峰在SPI-1~SPI-3光谱中也可以观察到,表明单体已经转化为聚合物。在所有SPI薄膜的光谱中都可观察到酰亚胺单元的一系列特征吸收峰。1 775、1 712、1 385 cm-1处分别对应SPI薄膜的非对称羰基伸缩振动、对称羰基伸缩振动和酰亚胺环C-N键伸缩振动特征吸收峰。而1 504 cm-1处对应于SPI分子链中苯环C=C键的特征吸收峰。此外,1 092 cm-1处为SPI-1中含氟基团C-F键的特征吸收峰,1 142 cm-1处为SPI-2中醚键的特征吸收峰,2 932 cm-1处为SPI-3分子结构中脂环上饱和C-H键的特征吸收峰。这表明含氟基团、醚键和脂环结构分别成功引入到SPI-1、SPI-2、SPI-3分子结构中。
SPI树脂在极性非质子性溶剂中良好的溶解特性使得1H-NMR的测试成为可能。图6给出了SPI树脂在氘代二甲基亚砜(DMSO-d6)溶剂中的1H-NMR谱图。从图6可以看出,各种H质子的吸收均可以准确地加以指认。3种SPI树脂中,亚胺基H质子(-NH-)的吸收均出现在谱图的最低场。对于SPI-1树脂而言,在谱图的高场区域仅出现了溶剂及溶剂中水的吸收峰。对于SPI-2而言,高场区域还出现了甲基H质子的吸收峰。而对于SPI-3而言,脂环二酐单元H质子的吸收均出现在了谱图的高场区域。这些与其分子结构特征是一致的。
通过考察SPI薄膜的光学性能,发现3种SPI薄膜外观上均呈现出较深的颜色。为了进一步定量地探究SPI薄膜结构与其光学性能的关系,分别测试了薄膜的紫外可见光谱(UV-Vis)、黄度指数和浊度,测试数据列于表2中。图7给出了SPI薄膜以及作为参比的PI-ref(PMDA-ODA)薄膜的UV-Vis曲线。PI-ref(PMDA-ODA)薄膜作为一类标准型PI薄膜目前广泛应用于FCCL制造中。从图7可以看到,尽管SPI-1~SPI-3薄膜分子结构中均含有降低其紫外截止波长(λcut)的官能团,如六氟异丙基、异丙基、醚键或脂环基团,但其λcut值(427~456 nm)均高于PI-ref(PMDA-ODA)薄膜(λcut=407 nm)。而且SPI-1~SPI-3薄膜在500 nm波长处的透光率(T500)均明显低于PI-ref薄膜,表明NDA结构的引入确实可以显著减淡PI薄膜的颜色。3种SPI薄膜的T500值变化顺序为T500(SPI-1)>T500(SPI-2)>T500(SPI-3),与其λcut值的变化规律相反。这表明3种SPI薄膜中,通过引入脂环单元来降低薄膜的不透明性是最为有效的。这主要是因为6FDA分子结构中,C-F键具有较高的电负性,可有效切断SPI-1分子链中CT作用的发生,而BPADA分子结构中柔性醚键和异丙基的存在也可削弱SPI-2分子链内部CT作用的程度。更为重要的是,芳香族结构的耐温等级通常高于脂环结构。SPI-3分子结构具有最高的NDA含量,因此高温下更易于发生氧化,使得SPI-3薄膜显现出近乎黑色的外观。
为了定量地考察SPI薄膜的结构对其颜色参数的影响,测试了SPI薄膜的CIE Lab光学参数。图8给出了SPI以及PI-ref薄膜的CIE Lab三维光学参数谱图以及嵌入的薄膜外观图。从图8可以看出,SPI-1与SPI-2薄膜呈现出深红色,而SPI-3薄膜表现为近乎黑色的外观,PI-ref薄膜则显示出黄色外观。SPI薄膜的L*值显著低于PI-ref薄膜,并且按照PI-ref(88.65)、SPI-1(59.00)、SPI-2(56.68)、SPI-3(50.50)的大小顺序依次排列。SPI薄膜的a*值都为正,呈现出红色的特征,而b*值都为正,呈现出黄色特征。PI-ref薄膜的a*值为负,而b*值为正,呈现出黄绿色特征。
分别采用热重分析(TGA)、差示扫描量热分析(DSC)和热机械分析(TMA)3种测试手段表征了SPI薄膜的热性能,测试结果汇总在表3中。图9给出了SPI薄膜的TGA与失重微分(DTG)曲线。从图9可以看出,所有薄膜在温度达到500℃之前均表现出良好的耐热性能。相比之下,全芳香结构的SPI-1与SPI-2薄膜表现出明显优于半脂环结构 SPI-3薄膜的耐热性。例如,SPI-1薄膜的5%失重温度(T5%)为555℃,分解最快时的温度(Tdmax)为586℃,而SPI-2薄膜的T5%Tdmax分别为548℃与571℃,略低于SPI-1。但SPI-3薄膜的T5%Tdmax分别为509℃与543℃,明显低于上述两个体系。 SPI-3薄膜在700℃时的残余质量分数(Rw700)只有26.7%,远低于SPI-1(Rw700=61.8%)与SPI-2(Rw700=69.4%)薄膜,这主要是因为SPI-3分子结构中的脂环链段在高温下不稳定的缘故。即便如此,SPI-3薄膜的耐热性仍可满足目前绝大多数应用的需求。
图10给出了SPI薄膜的DSC曲线,由此可以确定SPI薄膜的玻璃化转变温度(Tg)。从图10可以看出,SPI-1薄膜的Tg高达375.9℃,明显高于SPI-2(Tg=238.7℃)和SPI-3(Tg=293.7℃)薄膜。这主要是因为6FDA分子结构中庞大的六氟异丙基的空间位阻效应有效阻碍了PI分子链段在高温下的运动。 SPI-2分子链中存在柔性的醚键,大幅降低了其分子链的刚性,从而表现出较低的 Tg。对于SPI-3而言,双环己基结构也有效地阻碍了分子链段的运动,从而也表现出较高的Tg
图11给出了SPI薄膜的TMA曲线,据此可以判断SPI薄膜的高温尺寸稳定性。由图11可以看出,SPI-1薄膜在整个测试过程中都表现出较低的热膨胀行为,而另外两种薄膜在温度超过Tg后都表现出显著的膨胀行为。通过记录3种SPI薄膜在Tg以下(50~200℃)温度范围内的线性膨胀行为,可以得知3种薄膜的热膨胀系数(CTE)分别为49.1×10-6、57.0×10-6、53.2×10-6 K-1。由此可见,3种SPI薄膜的高温尺寸稳定性顺序为SPI-1、SPI-3、SPI-2。这与其分子链结构的刚性变化规律是一致的。
最后评估了SPI薄膜的电绝缘性能,通过测量3种SPI薄膜的体积电阻率(ρv)比较了SPI薄膜的绝缘性能,测试结果如图12所示。从图12可以看出,3种PI薄膜都呈现出良好的电绝缘性,ρv都超过了1015 Ω·cm。SPI-1薄膜表现出最高的ρv(1.21×1016 Ω·cm)。PI薄膜本身就是一类具有优良电绝缘特性的有机高分子薄膜材料。而较高的体积电阻率也表明亚胺基团、含氟基团、柔性双酚A基团或脂环结构的引入虽然会破坏PI分子链之间的强作用力,改善其加工性,但是都不会显著影响PI薄膜的电绝缘性。进一步测试了3种SPI薄膜在1 MHz时的介电常数(Dk)与介质损耗因数(Df)。结果显示,3种本征深色SPI薄膜的Dk值分别为2.93(SPI-1)、3.11(SPI-2)以及2.84(SPI-3)。3种SPI薄膜的Df值均低于0.01。良好的绝缘特性使得这类本征深色PI膜在电子领域具有良好的应用前景。
设计并合成了3种基于含有亚胺生色团二胺单体NDA的可溶性PI树脂,采用相应的PI溶液在相对较低温度下制备了本征深色PI薄膜。该系列薄膜呈现出了棕红色-黑色的外观,颜色均明显深于标准型的PI-ref(PMDA-ODA)薄膜。热性能与绝缘性能测试结果显示,亚胺基以及其他官能团的引入未对PI薄膜的耐热性能和电绝缘性能产生显著的影响。SPI-3薄膜表现出最优的综合性能,包括本征深色(λcut=456 nm;T500=2.0%;L*=50.50)、良好的耐热性能(Tg=293.7℃;T5%=509℃)以及良好的绝缘特性(ρv=5.35×1015 Ω·cm)。
