To accurately and efficiently control the probing sequence of the Hg⁺ microwave atomic clock, a highly integrated custom timing control system was developed. This system adopts a layered architecture design, in which the host computer software enables parameter setting and sequence configuration distribution. The embedded software, in real⁃time, parses the received instructions and generates high⁃precision operation sequences, ultimately driving peripheral devices to precisely execute the corresponding operations. It achieves flexible configuration and dynamic reconfiguration of the timing logic. Experimental results show that the sequences generated by the system are consistent with the theoretically designed sequences, enabling convenient and efficient timing control for double⁃resonance probing, Rabi probing, and Ramsey probing. The system provides a reliable timing control solution for the integrated research of Hg⁺ microwave atomic clocks.

为准确且高效地调控Hg+微波原子钟探测时序,研发了一套高度集成化的自定义时序控制系统。该系统采用分层架构设计,通过上位机软件实现参数设定与时序配置下发,利用嵌入式软件实时解析接收的指令并生成高精度操作时序,最终驱动外围设备精确执行对应操作,实现时序逻辑的灵活配置与动态重构。实验结果表明:该系统生成的时序与理论设计时序一致,能够便捷高效地实现双共振探测、Rabi探测和Ramsey探测的时序调控。该系统为Hg+微波原子钟的集成化研究提供了可靠的时序控制解决方案。

To accurately and efficiently control the probing sequence of the Hg⁺ microwave atomic clock, a highly integrated custom timing control system was developed. This system adopts a layered architecture design, in which the host computer software enables parameter setting and sequence configuration distribution. The embedded software, in real⁃time, parses the received instructions and generates high⁃precision operation sequences, ultimately driving peripheral devices to precisely execute the corresponding operations. It achieves flexible configuration and dynamic reconfiguration of the timing logic. Experimental results show that the sequences generated by the system are consistent with the theoretically designed sequences, enabling convenient and efficient timing control for double⁃resonance probing, Rabi probing, and Ramsey probing. The system provides a reliable timing control solution for the integrated research of Hg⁺ microwave atomic clocks.

近年来,Hg+微波原子钟的研制取得了显著进展,研究人员已在光谱灯设计、离子阱优化、闭环锁定等关键技术领域实现重大突破。目前Hg+微波原子钟正逐步向小型化、集成化方向发展1-3。在Hg+微波原子钟的电路集成控制技术中,探测时序的精确设计与实现尤为关键,直接决定探测结果的可靠性4。目前,国内外尚无可自定义调控Hg+微波原子钟探测时序的系统的相关报道,研究人员需要反复修改嵌入式程序以调控Hg+微波原子钟探测时序,操作复杂、效率低。
为高效且准确地调控Hg+微波原子钟探测时序,本研究团队设计了一套高度灵活的自定义时序控制系统。整钟物理系统基于真空制备,通过汞炉加热产生汞原子,汞原子经电子枪的离化作用后,产生对应的汞离子。汞离子进入物理系统中的离子囚禁区,通过四极杆施加的交变射频场及帽极电压作用,使汞离子被囚禁于四极阱中,形成离子云,之后对当前系统的光子信号进行探测。通过上位机软件配置探测时序参数,由微控制器(Microcontroller Unit, MCU)精准执行相应操作,实现时序逻辑的便捷配置和高效重构。开展Hg+微波原子钟的双共振探测、Rabi探测及Ramsey探测时序调控实验,验证该自定义时序控制系统的应用效果。
Hg+微波钟的工作物质为199Hg+,当钟系统处于工作状态时,199Hg+被离子囚禁场囚禁于离子阱的固定区域。使用202Hg+光谱灯(波长λ = 194.2 nm)对199Hg+进行光抽运,使位于基态2S1 / 2F = 1的199Hg+跃迁至激发态2P1 / 2,之后199Hg+经过自发辐射以一定的概率分别回到基态2S1 / 2F = 1和2S1 / 2F = 0。多次循环上述过程,囚禁场中所有的199Hg+最后均会聚集在基态2S1 / 2F = 0,此时,不会再有199Hg+从基态至激发态的跃迁和自发辐射所产生的荧光信号。通过波导向离子阱囚禁场内发射频率为40.5 GHz的微波,199Hg+在此微波的作用下从基态2S1 / 2F = 0重新跃迁至2S1 / 2F = 1,此时位于基态的199Hg+再吸收光谱灯发出的194.2 nm谱线,又会跃迁至激发态2P1 / 2。使用光电倍增管(Photomultiplier Tube, PMT)对自发辐射产生的光信号进行探测收集并作为本振锁定的依据5-6199Hg+能级跃迁如图1所示。
Hg+微波原子钟技术发展的核心在于采用单片MCU完成多外设的精密时序控制,以满足不同探测模式对时序精度的要求,从而优化谱线特性并提升整钟性能。Hg+微波钟的跃迁信号谱线宽度及信噪比直接决定了整钟闭环锁定质量。为获得窄线宽、高信噪比的谱线信号,系统需要支持光⁃微波双共振探测、Rabi模式探测和Ramsey模式探测等多种谱线探测方法,并确保各外设单元严格按照预设时序协同工作7-8
在光⁃微波双共振探测模式下,光谱灯、微波源、电子枪、PMT等外设保持开启状态,以实现199Hg+基态2S1 / 2F = 1至激发态2P1 / 2和基态2S1 / 2F = 0至基态2S1 / 2F = 1的共振跃迁。该探测模式下,减小微波功率时,探测谱线的线宽会减小,但谱线信噪比也会降低,且光与微波共同作用时会引入光频移。光⁃微波双共振探测理论工作时序及仿真图像如图2所示。
理论上,双共振探测获得的谱线P双共fP双共振f为洛伦兹线型,公式为
P双共f=Y0+S0·W24f-f0+W2
式中:Y0为本底信号,S0为信号幅度,W为谱线半高全宽,f为频率点,f0为中心频率点。
在Rabi探测模式下,光谱灯需在明态、暗态间交替工作,电子枪、微波源和PMT等外设需根据时序精准开关。Rabi探测理论工作时序及仿真图像如图3所示。
探测频率为b,微波脉冲的作用时间为t,当bt=πbt=π时,该微波脉冲称为π脉冲。令参数Ω=2π(f-f0)Ω=2π(f-f0),根据二能级系统在外加电磁场作用下的跃迁概率变化8,单振荡场的Rabi探测谱线PRabifPRabif公式为
PRabif=b2Ω2+b2·sin2(t2Ω2+b2)
为得到线宽更窄的探测谱线,可采用Ramsey探测方法8。首先对离子阱囚禁场施加微波脉冲,作用时间为τ,并且需要满足关系= π / 2,随后关闭微波源,此时需要保持特定的“自由演化时间”T(即微波作用停止时间),然后再次打开微波脉冲,脉冲的再次作用时间仍为τ。Ramsey探测理论工作时序及仿真图像如图4所示。分离振荡场的Ramsey探测谱线PRamseyfPRamseyf公式为

本系统采用上、下位机协同架构设计,软件包括上位机控制软件和嵌入式软件2部分,通过RS232串口实现上、下位机通信。在硬件控制方面,系统通过MCU对关键外设(包括电子枪、PMT、微波源、光谱灯等)进行精确操控。这种分层设计既保证了控制指令的可靠传输,又实现了对实验设备的精准时序控制。软件总体设计思路如图5所示。
上位机软件基于Qt 6框架设计,采用模块化设计理念实现高效开发与灵活扩展。在开发过程中,充分利用QtCreator集成开发环境的优势,通过可视化用户界面(User Interface, UI)设计器完成界面原型搭建,并运用Qt特有的信号处理机制实现高效的人机交互功能9-13。上位机软件模块如图6所示。
串口连接发送模块采用C++VISA类库实现,支持完整的串口参数(波特率、数据位、校验位等)配置,并提供可靠的上位机与MCU通信信道。VISA作为标准的仪器编程接口,可支持多种接口协议(USB / 串口 / GPIB等),确保通信的稳定性和兼容性14
自定义时序模块提供直观的时序步骤编号、时序持续时间与管理界面,支持用户灵活配置时序参数,实现与嵌入式软件的无缝时序编码对接。该模块通过串口通信将配置好的时序参数按照设定的指令码格式下发给MCU执行。
时序可视化模块集成QCustomPlot高性能绘图库,实现时序过程的实时波形监控,支持散点图、曲线图、图例等专业图表展示。QCustomPlot是一种基于Qt C++的绘图及数据可视化类库,其可以提高数据可视化性能,便于记录与查看15-18。为提高开发效率,将QCustomPlot源码编译为静态库,直接调用其丰富的绘图接口,既提高了运行效率又简化了开发流程。
数据可视化模块结合QCustomPlot绘图库,将探测得到的探测点⁃信号强度数据转化为散点图并绘制图像,同时绘制拟合得到的曲线图像。
上位机软件界面如图7所示。
选用STM32系列微控制器作为核心控制单元,该系列芯片基于ARM Cortex-M架构研发,适配系统的串口通信、脉宽调制(Pulse Width Modulation, PWM)输出等硬件需求。基于CubeMX图形化配置工具和标准化硬件抽象层库(Hardware Abstraction Layer, HAL)进行底层驱动开发,显著简化了流程并提高了效率19-21
采用分层式架构实现上、下位机的协同控制,在通信层建立稳定的串行通信链路,实时接收并解析自定义时序指令。系统软件采用模块化设计,其中,串口通信发送模块实现数据的可靠传输和协议解析,光谱灯控制模块负责光谱灯的亮 / 暗态切换,微波源控制模块负责调控微波源的开 / 关状态,电子枪控制模块执行电子枪的开关操作,PMT模块管理PMT的启 / 停,时序执行模块完成时序指令解析、时序生成和执行等待等关键操作。
电子枪、汞光谱灯、PMT均基于PWM控制,当打开相应定时器通道时,PWM处于工作状态,各外设按指令运行。PWM控制信号直接由MCU中的定时器产生。
微波源采用串口方式进行控制输出。当串口下发指令“1”时,微波源开启;当串口下发指令“0”时,微波源关闭。此处使用的串口由MCU上的引脚复用产生,经电平信号转换后,接入微波源引出的J30J-9输入接口。
按照设计要求,设置时序的步长为20 μs,持续时间为0 μs ~ 20 s。
自定义时序系统的执行流程如图8所示,主要步骤:① 参数初始化,将MCU中的队列清空,设定电子枪、PMT、微波源、光谱灯等外设为关闭状态,避免对自定义时序及实验系统造成影响;② 上位机软件自动生成指令序列,并按需求将时序配置和持续时间下发至MCU;③ MCU按照指令序列头进行校验,若校验无误则执行解析;④ 将时序编码和持续时间按顺序存入队列中;⑤ MCU执行循环定时任务校验,若校验成功,则按顺序及持续时间执行该任务;⑥ 反复执行步骤⑤ ,当检测到时序结束标志为真时,MCU强制跳出正在执行的时序并清空队列,当前时序结束。
完成上位机软件和MCU嵌入式软件的设计编码后,将软件烧录至MCU中并上电运行。通过上位机软件操作串口进行连接,成功连接后,通过上位机软件设置的双共振探测时序、Rabi探测时序和Ramsey探测时序内容。Rabi模式探测时序如表1所示,Ramsey模式探测时序如表2所示。
采用数字示波器对各外设驱动信号进行实时时序检测与分析,设置4通道同步采集:CH1通道检测微波源开关信号,CH2通道检测电子枪开关信号,CH3通道检测PMT开关信号,CH4通道检测光谱灯控制信号。示波器探测时序界面如图9所示。各电平的平均抬升 / 下降时间为190 μs,时序生成实验持续的周期均无上 / 下过冲现象发生,电子枪、汞光谱灯、微波源、PMT等外设均正常工作。将图9中的数据与表1表2中的数据进行对比可知:该自定义时序系统实现的时序探测结果准确。
设置时序并结合已搭建的物理系统进行谱线探测实验,各模式探测拟合数据如图10所示。在Ramsey探测模式下,最终得到的拟合结果受整体实验系统的信噪比及磁场的影响较大,但谱线线性与仿真结果符合,这充分证明了自定义时序系统的可靠性和稳定性。研究人员无需对嵌入式系统的时序部分进行重复修改,仅通过上位机软件进行参数配置即可灵活、快捷地实现各种实验时序,显著提升了时序调整的便捷性,为Hg+微波原子钟相关研究提供了有力支撑。
研制了空间Hg+微波原子钟自定义时序控制系统,利用该系统成功实现了空间Hg+微波原子钟多种探测模式(光⁃微波双共振探测、Rabi探测、Ramsey探测)的时序控制,各探测模式的工作时序定义、生成及运行结果均正确。研究人员可通过该系统便捷地调整时序参数,无需重新编译、烧录嵌入式代码,显著降低了操作复杂度并提升了实验效率。该自定义时序控制系统具有小型化的优势,安装该系统后的Hg+微波原子钟样机总体积小于12 L,总质量为10 kg,电路部分的尺寸为15 cm × 16 cm × 7 cm,符合设备高度集成化的要求。该系统为后续Hg+微波原子钟空间工程化研究及应用奠定了坚实的技术基础。
