Aegiceras corniculatum is one of the pioneering mangroves. The coupling process involving A. corniculatum development and tidal flat geomorphological evolution is one of the core contents of mangrove bio-morphodynamic and ecological restoration research. Based on high-resolution remote sensing images between 2005−2019, monthly sediment and A. corniculatum population samples from October 2019 to October 2020, the variation characteristics of A. corniculatum distributed over the tidal flat of the Nanliu River Estuary were analyzed. Meanwhile, the coupling mechanism between the morphological changes of tidal flat erosion/accretion and the population expansion of A. corniculatum was discerned. The main results can be shown as follows: (1) it is found that the main grown area of A. corniculatum is the outer sides of the levees of Nanliu River Estuary. The distribution of the adult, youth and embryos of A. corniculatum presented bandy features along the high tidal flat, middle tidal flat and the area near mean sea level, respectively. Furtherly, tidal flat elevation of 0.07 m above the mean sea level is the growth limit of annual seedling. (2) A. corniculatum of the Nanliu River Estuarine flat expanded rapidly from northwest to southeast, which is in coincidence with development tendency of tidal flat. Tidal flat height is elevated with possibility for mangrove habitation, which should be necessary for A. corniculatum promoted seaward progradation. (3) A. corniculatum that induced wave attenuation can mitigate hydrodynamics forcing with benefit to tidal flat sedimentation, which can furtherly have tidal flat accreted seaward. Moreover, the low tidal flat can be elevated into the middle-high tidal flat by silting, which provides growth and development conditions for A. corniculatum.

桐花树作为红树林种群的先锋植物,其发育扩展和立地潮滩地貌变化的耦合过程是红树林生物动力地貌及生态修复研究关注的核心内容之一。本文基于2005−2019年高分辨率遥感影像、2019年10月至2020年10月的桐花树潮滩逐月沉沙量及其种群样方统计等资料,分析桐花树在南流江河口潮滩的变化特征及其与桐花树种群扩张的耦合机制。结果表明:(1)南流江河口堤外潮滩是桐花树种群的主要立地区,成年、幼年及胚胎桐花树呈带状依次出现在高潮滩、中潮滩及平均海平面附近。以平均海平面为基面,南流江河口高程为0.07 m的潮滩为桐花树一年生幼苗生长极限位置;(2)南流江河口桐花树自西北向东南快速向海扩张的格局与潮滩向海淤积前展维持一致,潮滩滩位升高成为宜林滩地是桐花树向海扩张的基础;(3)桐花树种群的消浪作用减缓水动力强度,促进泥沙在潮滩沉积,由此加速潮滩发育;低潮滩淤涨为中潮滩、高潮滩,为桐花树种群扩张提供立地条件,促进种群发育扩张。

桐花树作为红树林种群的先锋植物,其发育扩展和立地潮滩地貌变化的耦合过程是红树林生物动力地貌及生态修复研究关注的核心内容之一。本文基于2005−2019年高分辨率遥感影像、2019年10月至2020年10月的桐花树潮滩逐月沉沙量及其种群样方统计等资料,分析桐花树在南流江河口潮滩的变化特征及其与桐花树种群扩张的耦合机制。结果表明:(1)南流江河口堤外潮滩是桐花树种群的主要立地区,成年、幼年及胚胎桐花树呈带状依次出现在高潮滩、中潮滩及平均海平面附近。以平均海平面为基面,南流江河口高程为0.07 m的潮滩为桐花树一年生幼苗生长极限位置;(2)南流江河口桐花树自西北向东南快速向海扩张的格局与潮滩向海淤积前展维持一致,潮滩滩位升高成为宜林滩地是桐花树向海扩张的基础;(3)桐花树种群的消浪作用减缓水动力强度,促进泥沙在潮滩沉积,由此加速潮滩发育;低潮滩淤涨为中潮滩、高潮滩,为桐花树种群扩张提供立地条件,促进种群发育扩张。

Aegiceras corniculatum is one of the pioneering mangroves. The coupling process involving A. corniculatum development and tidal flat geomorphological evolution is one of the core contents of mangrove bio-morphodynamic and ecological restoration research. Based on high-resolution remote sensing images between 2005−2019, monthly sediment and A. corniculatum population samples from October 2019 to October 2020, the variation characteristics of A. corniculatum distributed over the tidal flat of the Nanliu River Estuary were analyzed. Meanwhile, the coupling mechanism between the morphological changes of tidal flat erosion/accretion and the population expansion of A. corniculatum was discerned. The main results can be shown as follows: (1) it is found that the main grown area of A. corniculatum is the outer sides of the levees of Nanliu River Estuary. The distribution of the adult, youth and embryos of A. corniculatum presented bandy features along the high tidal flat, middle tidal flat and the area near mean sea level, respectively. Furtherly, tidal flat elevation of 0.07 m above the mean sea level is the growth limit of annual seedling. (2) A. corniculatum of the Nanliu River Estuarine flat expanded rapidly from northwest to southeast, which is in coincidence with development tendency of tidal flat. Tidal flat height is elevated with possibility for mangrove habitation, which should be necessary for A. corniculatum promoted seaward progradation. (3) A. corniculatum that induced wave attenuation can mitigate hydrodynamics forcing with benefit to tidal flat sedimentation, which can furtherly have tidal flat accreted seaward. Moreover, the low tidal flat can be elevated into the middle-high tidal flat by silting, which provides growth and development conditions for A. corniculatum.

生长于热带、亚热带海岸潮间带的桐花树(Aegiceras corniculatum)是红树林重要的先锋植物,在河口城市安全中起到防浪护岸[1-4]、净化滩涂环境[5-6]及改善水质[4-5]等作用。然而,桐花树种群结构简单、龄级单一,且以集聚状态位于河口前沿,易遭受极端风暴及高强度人类活动的影响而出现损失。故桐花树生长与发育、衰退与更新等一直受到较多关注[7-10]。不少研究者对红树林生态系统稳定性、红树林群落结构[8-9, 11]、红树林群落演替与桐花树生理生态[7, 12]进行研究,先后提出气候变化所导致的海平面上升影响红树林生态系统脆弱性[13-14]、淹水时间影响桐花树生长与生理过程[15]以及群落演替进展中,群落高度级、立木级、盖度、密度与其优势种群等变化特点[16]。同时,部分工作关注于潮流底层动力过程[17]、潮滩沉积过程与环境的关系[18-21]。此外,也有成果集中在红树林对波浪耗散[22]、潮滩表层沉积物颗粒特征[23]、土壤肥力[24]的影响及元素化学计量特征对红树林[25-26]影响等。先前工作在较大程度上增进了对红树林生态及红树林与栖息环境相互作用研究的理解,但较为缺乏对红树林与立地潮滩地貌的耦合分析。作为我国桐花树分布极广的北部湾河口更是如此,特别是桐花树成长与潮滩淤涨的联动机制研究尚未见报道。与此同时,国家“十三五”规划中提出的“南红北柳”湿地修复工程,把在南方以种植红树林为主作为有效恢复滨海湿地生态系统的重要措施。自然资源部、国家林业和草原局关于印发《红树林保护修复专项行动计划(2020‒2025年)》的通知,要求到2025年人工恢复红树林,通过营造和修复红树林,使其面积达到18 800 hm2,其中营造红树林9 050 hm2,修复现有红树林9 750 hm2,广西要求营造桐花树、白骨壤(Avicennia marina)及秋茄( Kandelia candel )等本地红树林1 000 hm2,修复现有红树林3 500 hm2 [10]。基于此,本文以南流江河口潮滩桐花树种群为研究对象,探讨河口桐花树种群分布与潮滩向海前展的耦合过程,旨在探明桐花树种群扩张与潮滩发育的内在关联机制,为保护与恢复热带中、小河口红树林潮滩生态系统及制定红树林保护管理措施提供理论依据。
南流江是广西独流入海第一大河,有5条支流在合浦县城西南入海,入海河口依次是干流河口、木案江河口、叉陇江河口、针鱼墩河口与尿燕子河口,在出海口形成面积约5 500 hm2以红树林为主的粉砂质潮滩(图1)。该区域位于北热带季风气候区,夏季高温多雨,冬季温和少雨。河口潮汐属于不正规全日潮,平均潮差约为2.5 m,海域冬半年以北向浪为主,平均波高0.8 m,夏季以西南向浪为主,最大波高为4.8 m[27-28]。位于南流江三角洲合浦县西南的南流江河口潮滩分布的植物自海向陆主要分布红树林桐花树、秋茄和无瓣海桑(Sonneratia apetala),其间参生草本植物茳芏(Cyperus malaccensis),区域潮滩以桐花树种群为主。
为较好地分析南流江河口桐花树扩张与潮滩淤涨的联动机制,本研究主要进行2个实验设计。第1个基于当地海平面位置(平均中潮位)(图1c),于2019年10月2日在南流江河口七星岛尾堤外浅滩向潮沟方向布置12条断面,间距约10 m,并按高位、中位、低位布置3排沉积板(面积为50 cm×50 cm的瓷砖)(图1b),并用RTK测定各站点高程,每月大潮低潮位时收集采沙板上所沉积的泥沙。高位站点标高(以平均海平面为基准面,下同)约+0.12 m,分布有自然生长的一年生桐花树小苗,是桐花树宜林滩地前缘;中位站点标高约+0.02 m(处于平均海平面位置附近的中潮滩偏高潮滩位置),上缘有少量一年生小苗,另有桐花树胚胎分布(尚未形成小苗);低位站点标高约−0.08 m(为平均海平面和平均低潮线之间的中潮滩偏低潮滩位置),无植被分布(图1c)。
沉积板沉积物采集自2019年10月2日至2020年10月7日,持续时间约1 a,采集的泥沙被运回室内干燥称重。第1次于2019年11月3日收集编号为高位、中位及低位01号站点沉积物,第2次于2019年12月4日收集编号为高位、中位及低位01号、02号站点沉积物······依此类推,第12次于2020年10月7日收集高位、中位及低位01~12号站点沉积物。显然,每个站点第1次采集的是前几个月累积沉沙,如2019年11月3日收集的高位、中位及低位01号站点沉积物为2019年10月2日至11月3日这1个月来的累计沉沙量,而2019年12月4日收集高位、中位及低位02号站点沉积物为两个月的累积沉沙量······2020年10月7日收集12号站点的沉积物为12个月累计的沉沙量。有必要指出的是,第4次本应于2020年2月收集沉沙,但受新冠疫情影响而没有收集数据。第5次采样的高位05站点、第6次采样的高位03站点、中位04站点、低位06站点、第8次采样的低位07站点、中位08站点、第10次采样的中位01站点、中位02站点、第11次采样的中位11站点受渔民人为干扰严重,沉积板采集的数据无效,在此采用内插值法补全所缺数据。
简而言之,这些沉积板采集的泥沙分别反映不同潮滩位置逐月泥沙沉积量,表征潮滩不同部位淤积或侵蚀状态。例如,当月累积沉沙量(SCm)减去上月累积沉沙量(SCm−1)即为当月净沉沙量(SDNm),即

式中,SDNm为第m月净沉沙量;SCm为第m月的累积沉沙量;SCm−1为第m−1月的累积沉沙量。如第12次收集的高位累积沉沙量为10 707.7 g,第11次收集的高位累积沉沙量为10 374.6 g,则2020年10月高位的净沉沙量为333.1 g。
同时,在沉沙收集区潮滩随机取5个500 cm3的标准土样烘干后称重,计算出每立方米潮滩土平均干重P为1 368.6 kg。假设研究区内沉积物容重保持恒定,则潮滩淤涨或侵蚀高度H

对每个土样采用筛分法,分别以20目、40目、60目、80目、100目、120目、140目、170目、200目、230目的网筛进行筛分处理,分析不同潮位沉沙的颗粒组成。
设计的第2个方案是桐花树样方统计。即2020年10月19日在七星岛尾堤外浅滩的桐花树宜林潮滩外缘,以沉积板为中心设计5 m×5 m的生态样方,统计每个样方内二年生、一年生桐花树小苗与停留的胚胎数量(图1b)。
此外,还收集南流江河口2005年4月29日、2009年12月5日、2013年10月20日、2017年11月1日和2019年10月26日谷歌历史影像,分辨率为2.22 m,所收集的5景遥感影像瞬时成像时刻的潮位均较低。基于收集的5景高分辨率影像和实地勘探,随后利用ENVI和ArcGIS对原影像进行几何纠正和地理配准、裁剪和镶嵌、彩色增强和滤波等预处理。在不同季节对研究区用无人机航拍获取正射影像数据与现场调查相结合,确定潮滩解译标志与桐花树的解译标志[29],并核查区域内潮滩与桐花树的分布状态。再对经预处理的5景遥感影像采用目视解译,得到较为准确的潮滩分布矢量数据与桐花树分布矢量数据。然后利用ArcGIS的ArcToolbox工具,计算各年度桐花树分布的平均中心,并推导出重心转移轨迹[30]
通过对南流江河口5景历史影像分析与现场观测发现,2005‒2019年南流江河口潮滩自陆向海展现蒲扇状,且主轴向东南方向偏转。其间,河口潮滩整体呈现向海快速淤涨的趋势,中潮滩发育增长主要集中在七星岛尾堤外浅滩、木案堤外浅滩、针鱼墩堤外浅滩、尿燕子河口浅滩(图2)。
这4个堤外潮滩面积依次增长656.37 hm2、766.45 hm2、346.71 hm2及658.36 hm2表1),相当于每年平均增加面积11.73%、5.89%、6.27%与3.68%。特别是,堤外潮滩向海淤涨方向与河口延伸方向基本平行,表现为自西北向东南淤积(图2)。此外,4个干流河口的江心洲面积增长缓慢。2005‒2019年,这4个江心洲面积增加为0.4~4.60 hm2,江心洲面积年均增长基本都不到1%,远小于河口堤外浅滩面积的增长率(表1)。
与此同时,基于七星岛尾堤外东侧浅滩布置的沉积板所采集的沉沙数据见图3。不同高程位潮滩年累积沉沙量不同,高位、中位及低位的年累积沉沙量分别为10 707.7 g、15 755.1 g、16 042.6 g(图3a),按公式(1)折算成淤涨厚度即高位、中位及低位潮滩年增长高度分别为0.031 m、0.046 m、0.047 m。低位及中位潮滩年增长略高于高位潮滩。同时,不同季节各站点沉沙量不同。11月(第1次取样)至翌年4月(第6次取样),潮滩处于缓慢淤涨阶段,高位、中位、低位每月净沉沙量基本上小于1 000 g;而5(第7次取样)‒8月(第10次取样)处于快速淤涨阶段,并逐月增加,并且低位的淤涨量明显大于中位和高位;9(第11次取样)‒10月(第12次取样)处于侵蚀阶段,低位的侵蚀量大于中位与高位(图3b)。总体上,月净沉沙量表现为5‒8月较多,9‒10月表现为侵蚀,11月至翌年4月淤涨少。
以上表明,南流江河口七星岛尾堤外浅滩丰水季沉沙量大于枯水季,枯水期净沉沙量由多到少依次为高位、中位、低位,而丰水季节则为低位、中位、高位。
此外,南流江河口七星岛尾堤外浅裸滩沉积物颗粒较粗,高位、中位、低位沉沙粒径大于0.125 mm所占比例分别为53.14%、52.18%与47.78%;粒径0.125~0.063 mm所占比例分别为43.61%、44.34%与45.09%。沉积物属细沙质,且高位沉积物的颗径稍粗于中位与低位(图4)。
南流江河口桐花树面积由2005年263.36 hm2增长到2019年1 387.76 hm2,年增长率为12.6%。桐花树扩张整体上呈随潮滩发育向海扩张趋势。
干流河口两个江心洲A与B在2005年基本没有桐花树分布,而在2013年江心洲出现稀疏的桐花树群,面积分别为2.11 hm2和1.14 hm2图5图6)。随后向陆侧江心洲A分布的桐花树以团块状向海方向扩张,而江心洲B桐花树覆盖的范围基本不变,但以内插形式向中心空地带成长,到2019年桐花树面积达到3.30 hm2与4.80 hm2。经实地调查,目前两处江心洲桐花树均为2011年生的桐花树苗,可见在15年期间,两处江心洲已完成桐花树建群发育过程。同时,干流河口向外纵向分布的江心洲C、江心洲D在2005年已满布桐花树(图5),面积分别为12.86 hm2与4.11 hm2图6)。经过15 a的发展,直至2019年两个江心洲桐花树面积分别为16.76 hm2与4.75 hm2图6),增幅仅23.27%与15.57%,年平均增长率约为1%。
南流江河口桐花树面积扩张主要集中在七星岛尾堤外浅滩、木案堤外浅滩、针鱼墩堤外浅滩、尿燕子河口浅滩,沿原种群前缘呈带状向海扩展(图5)。七星岛尾堤外浅滩桐花树面积由2005年的0.84 hm2增加到2019年的47.65 hm2图6),增加了55倍,是南流江口潮滩桐花树面积增长速度最快的区域。针鱼墩堤外浅滩2019年桐花树的面积为646.62 hm2图6),比2005年的135.77 hm2增加了511.15 hm2,是南流江口潮滩桐花树面积增长最多的区域。
2005‒2009年间南流江河口七星岛尾堤外浅滩、木案堤外浅滩、针鱼墩堤外浅滩、尿燕子河口浅滩桐花树面积快速增长,4年时间增加了235.12 hm2图6)。2009‒2013年与2013‒2017年是七星岛尾堤外浅滩、木案堤外浅滩、针鱼墩堤外浅滩、尿燕子河口浅滩桐花树缓慢增长期,且增速越来越慢。2009‒2013年增加了147.21 hm2,增幅为30.6%,2013‒2017年仅增加了73.65 hm2,增幅仅为11.7%。2017‒2019年是桐花树加速发展时期,两年时间由702.37 hm2增加到1 358.15 hm2图6),约增加了1倍。这4个区域桐花树面积的增加都是呈现向海扩张趋势(图5)。
2020年10月19日,实测高位、中位、低位沉积板附近潮滩高程分别为+0.16 m、+0.07 m、−0.04 m(图1c)。以沉积板为中心的5 m×5 m生态样方内二年生、一年生桐花树小苗与停留的胚胎数量统计见图7
高位每个25 m2的样方内平均有桐花树二年生苗27.0棵(图7),株高约为30 cm,分枝较多,冠幅为20~30 cm;而中位仅3.7棵(图7),株高约为20 cm,冠幅为15~20 cm;低位1.7棵(图7),株高为15~20 cm,分枝少,冠幅为10~15 cm。表明,在2019年高位是桐花树的宜林滩地前缘,中位、低位还不适合桐花树的生长。2020年10月,中位平均每个样方内有桐花树一年生苗14.8棵,低位也有10.7棵,且大多分布在高、中位之间区域,表明到2020年10月,中位潮滩已发育成桐花树的宜林滩地,低位内缘已发育成桐花树宜林滩地前缘(图8)。
以斑块面积为权重计算各年度桐花树斑块的几何中心,并计算各年度桐花树的分布重心(图5f)。2005‒2009年,桐花树分布重心向南偏东71°44′49″方向转移了985.30 m,而2009‒2013年、2013‒2017年,重心分别向北偏西89°00′12″方向转移236.27 m与北偏西77°49′47″方向转移673.68 m。2017‒2019年,呈现快速向海(东南)扩张的趋势,重心向南偏东46°15′23″方向转移了478.57 m(图5f)。2005‒2019年的15年间,南流江河口桐花树重心总体上向东南偏东偏移了38°05′21″,迁移距离为626.91 m。
潮滩是红树林立地的基本条件,南流江河口宜林潮滩总体上呈自西北向东南方向淤涨趋势,各个区域淤涨情况有所不同(表1图2)。南流江河口潮滩的发育进程和河水含沙量、径流与潮汐交汇作用的水动力相关。干流河口的4个江心洲周围水动力较强、沉沙少、滩涂发育速度缓慢,尤其是向海侧的两个江心洲位于主干河口入海急流区(图1),受上游河水与涨落潮水动力的综合作用,该区域水动力强,洲滩周边泥沙沉积少,洲滩几乎不发育。因而在2005‒2019年,这两个江心洲面积仅增加0.79 hm2与0.12 hm2表1),桐花树面积增加极为有限(图7)。然而,受向海两个江心洲遮蔽效应,向陆侧的两个江心洲洲尾形成缓冲区,水动力相对较弱,这有利于泥沙沉积而致使向陆侧两个江心洲滩尾潮滩延展发育。15年来,向陆侧的两个江心洲面积分别增加0.4 hm2、4.6 hm2表1),相应的桐花树范围亦明显扩大。
七星岛尾堤外浅滩、木案堤外浅滩、针鱼墩堤外浅滩、尿燕子河口浅滩4个堤外潮滩受南流江5个入海口水流与潮汐的综合作用,在该区域形成混流区,水动力相对较弱,沉沙作用明显,滩涂向海发育较快。自2005年以来,七星岛尾堤外浅滩、木案堤外浅滩、针鱼墩堤外浅滩、尿燕子河口浅滩的潮滩面积明显增加,这亦导致生长在弱动力条件的桐花树面积也随之增大(表1)。
从潮滩发育进程角度分析,4个江心洲位于干流河道中心,四周受河水与潮汐涨落的冲刷,滩涂发育慢甚至不增长,不能为桐花树提供适宜的立地滩涂,桐花树面积增加也极为有限。然而,如上所述,在5个入海河道水流的冲刷与潮汐涨落的综合作用下,4个堤外潮滩向海快速发育。同时,七星岛尾堤外浅滩的沉沙试验与生态样方试验也表明了桐花树向海快速扩张。七星岛尾堤外浅滩桐花树宜林滩地前沿在平均海平面+0.020~+0.12 m,且在滩宜林滩地前沿−0.08~+0.02 m的潮滩发育速度较快,一年净增高约0.05 m。经过1 a的发育,原来不适于桐花树生长的中位滩涂已达+0.07 m,从高程(潮位)对桐花树生长的影响角度看,该区域已发育成了宜林滩地(图8)。
潮滩的快速发育为桐花树提供更多立地滩涂。高位、中位、低位潮滩沉积物颗粒分析表明,当年沉积的颗粒在高位较粗,沉积物粒径大于0.125 mm的占总体沉积物的53.14%(图4),更有利于滩涂透水透气,对桐花树幼苗的根系生长更为有利;中位、低位沉积物的颗粒较细,粒径大于0.125 mm的占总体沉积物的52.18%与47.78%(图4),更有利滩涂保肥与桐花树胚胎在滩涂的附着,从而促使胚胎快速发育成小苗。原标高为+0.3~+0.4 m的中、低潮滩经过1 a的发育,较细颗粒的沉积物为胚胎在滩涂着陆提供机会;高程分别增加到+0.07 m、−0.04 m,延长了停留在潮滩的胚胎露出水面的时间,为胚根与胚芽萌动提供了可能;细颗粒沉积物较好的保水保肥能力,为胚胎发育成桐花树小苗提供了物质基础。基于此,七星岛尾堤外浅滩原高程为+0.02 m的滩涂区域已完全发育成桐花树的宜林滩地。
此外,南流江河口桐花树的生物学习性与潮滩发育的季节变化高度吻合。七星岛尾堤外东侧浅滩2019年11月至2020年4月发育较慢,5‒8月快速增长,9‒10月又减缓发育速度。主要原因在于,11月至翌年4月是南流江枯水季,该时段河流径流量小、流速慢,水体中所携带的泥沙量少导致该时段沉沙量少。丰水季河流径流量大、水流速快,水体中所携带的泥沙量多,导致该时段沉沙量显著增多(图3图4)。9‒10月由于受“海高斯”“红霞”“浪卡”“沙德尔”等多次台风的作用,这时期的侵蚀量较大(图3),潮滩发育表现为冲刷状态。该区域桐花树胚胎成熟期在7‒9月。+0.02 m的中位、低位潮滩在5‒8月快速发育成宜林滩地,为胚胎在滩涂附着、萌动、小苗发育提供了机会,9‒10月胚胎已发育成完整的植株,扎根于潮滩,在一定程度上可抗拒潮滩的冲刷侵蚀。潮滩发育与桐花树生物学习性耦合,促进桐花树向海快速扩张。
研究时段5景遥感影像的分析也表明,堤外潮滩桐花树分布面积大、发育速度快。同时,成片的桐花树林也充分发挥出其消浪促淤功能,促进泥沙在林缘潮滩沉积,进一步促进滩涂发育。显然,2005年以来,七星岛尾堤外浅滩、木案堤外浅滩、针鱼墩堤外浅滩、尿燕子河口浅滩4个堤外潮滩面积增长迅速,桐花树分布面积也有大幅度增长。潮滩向海发育是桐花树向海扩张的物质基础,南流江河口堤外潮滩桐花树呈带状由西北向东南方向快速扩张与堤外潮滩潮滩发育趋势保持高度一致,桐花树种群的扩张速度与宜林潮滩的发育速度也紧密相关。此外,予以指出的是,当全球气候变暖引起海平面上升,但南流江口七星岛周边桐花树向海淤积较平稳,七星岛以东区域则处于快速扩展状态,其缘由主要是2002年以后广西强化红树林恢复政策,并在这些区域进行较大规模的人工栽培,导致红树快速促淤而引起区域潮滩向海迅速推进。随着 2020 年广西红树林新的政策实施,预期人工栽培将导致区域红树林潮滩可能会进一步向海推进。
2005‒2019年,南流江河口桐花树种群呈自西北向东南方向(向海)扩张趋势。桐花树重心向南偏东偏移,平均每年向海推进约40 m。其中,2009‒2013年、2013‒2017年,重心向北偏西转移,但这并不能说明桐花树在该时段内向陆迁移。经分布重心分析可知,南流江河口桐花树重心位于针鱼墩堤外浅滩,而尿燕子河口浅滩在重心的东南向,干流河口4个江心洲与七星岛尾堤外浅滩、木案堤外浅滩位于重心的西北向(图5)。2009‒2013年与2013‒2017年,位于2009年重心东南向的尿燕子河口浅滩区域,桐花树面积仅分别向海扩张增加了35.26 hm2与16.17 hm2,而位于2009年重心的西北向干流河口4个江心洲与七星岛尾堤外浅滩、木案堤外浅滩,桐花树面积向海扩张的总和分别为73.93 hm2与10.73 hm2,结合重心所在区域针鱼墩堤外浅滩这两时段内桐花树的向海扩张面积分别为42.31 hm2与49.91 hm2,由重心计算面积加权,桐花树重心向西偏北方向偏移,也正说明了南流江河口西北向潮滩桐花树种群的快速向海呈带状扩张。
七星岛尾堤外浅滩的沉沙试验表明,相对较细的颗粒为桐花树胚胎着陆提供了可能。原标高为+0.02 m的中位经过1 a的发育,高程已达+0.07 m, 为桐花树胚胎发育提供了适宜的浸淹水条件。同时,生态样方试验表明,中位与低位上缘已具有较多桐花树一年生苗(图8),即E区潮滩桐花树宜林滩地向外推进到低位上缘,向海推进了16 m。
在桐花树种群扩张与潮滩淤涨的相互促进作用下,可以预见七星岛尾堤外浅滩、木案堤外浅滩、针鱼墩堤外浅滩、尿燕子河口浅滩4个堤外潮滩外缘是南流江河口桐花树向海推进的潜在发育区(图9)。
河口复杂的水文与地貌条件限制红树林在潮滩的分布与扩张。本文利用15 a南流江河口影像数据,结合沉沙取样实验与种群扩张样方统计,通过对南流江河口桐花树种群的空间分布分析,主要结论包括:
(1)南流江河口桐花树种群总体上呈现带状向海扩张的趋势,经历2013‒2017年的缓慢扩张后,2017‒2019年快速发育。同时,不同区域桐花树面积增长存在较大差异。其中堤外潮滩是南流江河口桐花树主要分布区,发展速度快;江心洲分布相对较少,发展速度慢。
(2)水体所携带的泥沙在潮滩淤积导致河口潮滩滩位升高成为宜林滩地是桐花树向海扩张的前提。南流江河口桐花树种群的扩张趋势与潮滩呈自西北向东南方向发育趋势保持高度一致。
(3)河道水流与潮汐交汇于河口,在桐花树的消浪作用下,堤外潮滩形成混流区,水动力相对较弱,促进了水体中泥沙在此区域沉积,加速堤外潮滩发育,进而为桐花树种群扩张提供立地条件。江心洲区域由于四周水动力强、泥沙沉积少、滩涂发育慢,限制了桐花树种群的扩张。南流江河口桐花树潜在发育区主要分布在堤外潮滩向海区域。
