The Yap Trench is an important part of the trench-arc-basin system in the western Pacific Ocean. In the northern part of the Yap Trench, the Yap Trench and the Mariana Trench are typically vertically intersected. The geomorphology of the sea area was studied in detail. The results show that the water depth, morphology and profile of the trenches change obviously near the junction of the two trenches, and have segmented. The slopes on both sides have uplift, depression and fault geomorphology, which are closely related to the special subduction position at the junction of the trenches. In addition, according to the geomorphic characteristics and plate spreading rate, the spreading center of the Parece Vera Basin should be located near 137°35'34''E before 20 Ma, and the Yap Trench is likely to be transformed from the spreading center exposed by the Parece Vera Basin.

雅浦海沟是西太平洋“沟–弧–盆”体系的重要组成部分。在雅浦海沟北部,雅浦海沟与马里亚纳海沟呈典型的垂直相交。本文对该海域的地貌进行了详细的研究。结果表明,两条海沟连接处附近,海沟的水深、形态、剖面等都发生明显变化,且具有分段性,两侧斜坡上拥有隆起、凹陷、断裂等地貌,这些特征与海沟连接处特殊的俯冲位置具有密切的联系;通过地貌特征和板块扩张速度判断,20 Ma前帕里西维拉海盆扩张中心应位于137°35′34″E附近,雅浦海沟很可能是由帕里西维拉海盆暴露出来的扩张中心转变而成。

雅浦海沟是西太平洋“沟–弧–盆”体系的重要组成部分。在雅浦海沟北部,雅浦海沟与马里亚纳海沟呈典型的垂直相交。本文对该海域的地貌进行了详细的研究。结果表明,两条海沟连接处附近,海沟的水深、形态、剖面等都发生明显变化,且具有分段性,两侧斜坡上拥有隆起、凹陷、断裂等地貌,这些特征与海沟连接处特殊的俯冲位置具有密切的联系;通过地貌特征和板块扩张速度判断,20 Ma前帕里西维拉海盆扩张中心应位于137°35′34″E附近,雅浦海沟很可能是由帕里西维拉海盆暴露出来的扩张中心转变而成。

The Yap Trench is an important part of the trench-arc-basin system in the western Pacific Ocean. In the northern part of the Yap Trench, the Yap Trench and the Mariana Trench are typically vertically intersected. The geomorphology of the sea area was studied in detail. The results show that the water depth, morphology and profile of the trenches change obviously near the junction of the two trenches, and have segmented. The slopes on both sides have uplift, depression and fault geomorphology, which are closely related to the special subduction position at the junction of the trenches. In addition, according to the geomorphic characteristics and plate spreading rate, the spreading center of the Parece Vera Basin should be located near 137°35'34''E before 20 Ma, and the Yap Trench is likely to be transformed from the spreading center exposed by the Parece Vera Basin.

雅浦海沟是菲律宾海板块的东南部边界,是太平洋板块、加罗林板块与菲律宾海板块直接作用的前缘,是全球最著名的板块汇聚边缘之一,是地球内部与外部发生物质和能量交换的主要位置之一,一直以来都受到地质学家、地球物理学家们的广泛关注[1-2]。Sato等[3]对雅浦海沟附近海域的地震源进行探测后发现雅浦海沟处以浅源地震为主,地震带宽度远小于其他俯冲带,认为雅浦海沟处的板块汇聚速度十分缓慢,约为6 mm/a[4-5]。瞿洪宝等[6] 通过雅浦俯冲带的地球物理场、俯冲模式、构造演化等方面的研究,认为晚始新世至渐新世早期,太平洋板块俯冲至菲律宾海板块下,形成古马里亚纳–雅浦海沟;晚渐新世以来,加罗林海脊与古海沟发生碰撞,形成了雅浦海沟[7]。而张臻和李三忠[8]认为雅浦海沟与加罗林海脊并没有直接接触,同时雅浦岛弧缺少与碰撞相关的高压变质岩,雅浦俯冲带可能是由帕里西维拉海盆的中央裂谷带演化而来。所以,雅浦俯冲带的形成与演化模式还需要进一步的研究。
目前关于雅浦海沟的研究主要集中在岩石化学、地质构造、海沟演化等方向,对于雅浦海沟地形地貌的研究相对较少,特别是在雅浦海沟的北部,雅浦海沟与马里亚纳海沟几乎垂直角度相交,形成典型的俯冲型海沟交界处,拥有复杂多样的地形地貌。因此本文力图采用最新的多波束数据,对雅浦海沟与马里亚纳海沟连接处的地貌特征进行解译和分析,同时希望通过对地貌的研究为雅浦海沟的构造、演化等科学问题提供崭新的视角。
雅浦海沟是菲律宾海板块的东南缘(图1),全长约为700 km,近南北走向,与伊豆–小笠原海沟、马里亚纳海沟、雅帕劳海沟构成了一个连续的弧形海沟系统[9]。根据测量的水深数据,雅浦海沟被分为两段,分界线为8°26′N[10],在分界线以南,海沟水深较浅,7°20′N附近的海沟轴线由N30°向N110°连续变化;在11°07′N附近,雅浦海沟与马里亚纳海沟呈垂直相交,海沟连接处以北则是北雅浦构造带;北雅浦构造带内有一条近南北走向的悬崖,被称为北雅浦悬崖[11]
雅浦俯冲带东部是加罗林海脊。加罗林海脊是晚渐新世时期形成的热点火山链[12],在其形成后不久便被索罗尔海槽裂解成南北两部分[13]。其北部的海脊随太平洋板块一起运动,向雅浦海沟北部俯冲。太平洋板块的俯冲产生侧向和横向的张性应力场,使海脊更容易俯冲,俯冲角度也较低,俯冲的深度较大,俯冲速度约为20 mm/a[5, 14]。索罗尔海槽以南的海脊随加罗林板块运动,在雅浦海沟南部俯冲,产生压缩型应力场,形成陡峭的俯冲带[6],板块俯冲的深度浅、俯冲速度极慢(0~6 mm/a)。雅浦海沟与加罗林海脊并没有直接接触,两者之间存在一个“新月”形的区域,其上发育了由正断层控制的地垒地堑带[8, 15]
雅浦俯冲带西侧为帕里西维拉海盆。帕里西维拉海盆是渐新世时期沿着九州–帕劳海岭打开的弧后盆地[16-18]。帕里西维拉海盆中部位置是海盆的扩张中心。扩张中心将帕里西维拉海盆分为了东西两部分,东西两部分并不完全对称,西宽东窄,西部比东部宽40~120 km[16]。在扩张中心内部形成了一系列“S”型转换断层、雁列式排布的深海海岭和海槽。
本文研究区域为10°14′~12°07′N,138°07′~139°50′E,所使用的水深地形数据来源有3种。
一是“向阳红10”号科考船在西太平洋地区进行海洋地质调查时测量的部分多波束水深数据;调查水深测量使用的是Seabeam3012全海深多波束探测系统,并结合姿态传感器、差分GPS导航定位系统等进行走航式水深数据采集,采集的水深数据并未达到全覆盖。采集的多波束数据利用CARIS HIPS、Global Mapper处理成水深格网数据,数据的分辨率为100 m。
二是全球公开的水深数据;其中包含国内外十几个航次的多波束水深数据,这些数据均来自于美国国家地球物理数据中心(The National Geophysical Data Center,NGDC)(https://www.ngdc.noaa.gov)。公开的数据利用MB-System系统自动删除水深异常点,再用用Global Mapper软件将处理后的数据转化为水深格网数据,数据的分辨率为100 m。
三是SRTM15_PLUS全球测深数据,这是一种新型的全球地形数据,分辨率为15'',用于补充多波束水深数据未能覆盖的地方。
将3种数据利用GMT软件进行处理、融合之后得到研究区的水深数字模型[19]图2)。该模型在多波束覆盖的区域具有高分辨率的特性,格网间距为100 m;而在其他的区域则被低分辨率的水深数据覆盖,格网间距为15'',实现了多分辨率水深地形显示。
研究区位于雅浦海沟的北部。在该区域,雅浦海沟和马里亚纳海沟形成了三连点“T”字形的构造,并且发育了复杂的地形地貌。虽然两条海沟相距较近,但是由于板块俯冲的作用,使得两条海沟的地貌、形态、走势、结构等存在很大的差异。作者将该区域的海沟分为3段(a段、b段、c段),分别为雅浦海沟北段、马里亚纳海沟西南段、北雅浦构造带,并沿垂直于海沟轴部的方向,共做剖面27条(图3图4表1),该区域地貌解译如图5所示。
雅浦海沟北段呈近南北走向,海沟轴线长约100 km,整体轴向为N19°。海沟宽度为50~70 km,两侧斜坡对称性相对较好,西侧雅浦岛弧的地势相对较高,呈近似“V”字形(图6)。雅浦海沟西侧的陆坡平均坡度约为9.1°,并无明显的前缘隆起;海沟东侧洋坡的平均坡度相对较高,约为10°。
海沟底部存在较大的起伏,剖面线2~6之间的海沟水深在8 000 m以上,形成一个海沟沟底盆地。海沟沟底盆地最外层7 100 m的等深线圈呈楔形,长约为45 km,底部平均宽度约为10 km,占据了雅浦海沟北段近一半的范围,海沟底部有洼地存在,雅浦海沟北段水深最大的区域就位于此处。根据该闭合圈内测深数据的统计,最大水深位置10°33′00″N,138°41′33″E,水深为8 935 m。在此处海沟的洋坡上发育了一系列隆起的海丘,起伏高度在200~500 m之间;海丘呈条带状,由于这些海丘的原因,在洋坡上形成了一块条带状的台地,台地长为30 km,最大宽度为4 km,海丘和台地的走向几乎与海沟平行,随海沟向北延伸。这些海丘与台地是洋坡顶部的地垒地堑带俯冲产生断裂、坍塌、滑坡而形成的。沿着海沟轴线向北,在海沟沟底盆地的边缘(剖面线7附近),海沟以12.5%的坡度开始上升,延伸12 km之后,海沟底部变得相对平缓,水深变浅。
剖面线7~10之间的海沟,水深为7 000 m,海沟底部变得十分狭窄。此处海沟洋坡顶部虽然也有地垒地堑带,但在洋坡上并没有明显的隆起与海丘发育。与之对应的陆坡顶部是雅浦岛弧北部地势最高的大型海山,海山呈椭圆形,长约为40 km,顶部水深为1 400 m;而在陆坡之上有数座海丘发育,呈直线排列,走向与海沟平行,相对高差在300~800 m之间。沿着海沟继续向北则是雅浦海沟与马里亚纳海沟的交汇区域。
马里亚纳海沟西南段是马里亚纳海沟最西南部的俯冲带。海沟呈NWW–SEE走向,轴线长约为100 km,整体轴向为N105°,海沟宽度为50~100 km,呈近似的“V”字形(图7)。海沟北侧的陆坡平均坡度约为7.8°,南侧的洋坡坡度相对较缓,平均坡度约为7°。
剖面线12~15之间的海沟水深约为7 500 m,底部较为狭窄。海沟的陆坡顶部是一座大型的海山,是研究区块内范围最大、地势最高的尖顶海山。海山呈椭圆形,长轴约50 km为东西走向,短轴约30 km,顶端水深为135 m。由于这座海山的缘故,此处海沟的陆坡较大,在10°以上。与之对应的海沟洋坡是雅浦海沟俯冲板块的最北端,这里也发育成地势较高的海山。向北延伸海沟的宽度增加,而两侧斜坡的坡度则逐渐减小,在剖面线18附近,洋坡的坡度达到最小。从剖面线19开始,海沟洋坡的顶部属于加罗林海脊,坡度逐渐增大。
马里亚纳海沟内部发育有一个很特殊的构造,在剖面线13的陆坡上,水深约6 000 m处形成了一个台地,台地边缘有轻微隆起的海丘,随海沟向东延伸,隆起越来越高;在剖面线16~20之间的陆坡上发育成一条海岭,海岭呈东西走向,向海沟方向凸出,影响海沟的形态。
北雅浦构造带位于雅浦海沟与马里亚纳海沟交汇处以北,呈NNE–SSW走向,这里依然拥有水深超过6 000 m的深水海沟地貌(图8)。北雅浦构造带内最特殊的区域则是位于构造带的北部,即剖面线23~26之间的海沟。此处海沟为细长的条带状,NNE–SSW走向,底部十分狭窄,其东侧的斜坡陡峭,呈不对称“V”字形,被称为北雅浦悬崖。北雅浦悬崖从11°45′N向北延伸至11°56′N,全长约为20 km,最大水深约为6 400 m。悬崖东部非常陡峭,平均坡度在20°以上,比西侧雅浦岛弧的坡度高10°,是雅浦海沟北部坡度最大的区域。此外洋坡以东的区域也发育有大量的地垒地堑。北雅浦悬崖的最北端则是雅浦海沟的最北部(12°00′N,138°58′E附近),发育形成了海沟沟底盆地,剖面线27横穿该盆地。沟底盆地与北雅浦悬崖被向东凸出的雅浦岛弧所分割。盆地呈椭圆形,最顶部的等深线圈水深约为5 600 m,底部存在水深约为6 000 m的洼地。而盆地以北的区域,则已经失去了狭长的深水海沟地貌。
雅浦海沟与马里亚纳海沟的交汇区域,地貌最为复杂,海沟轴线没有具体的方位,如图3中蓝色虚线矩形所示。交汇区中部是一座海山,海山顶部水深为5 500 m,山坡上有数条冲沟发育。从地形上来看,这座海山从雅浦海沟底部隆起,将海沟交汇区域截断成南北两部分。交汇区南部范围较大,整体呈三角形,底部被水深为7 800 m的直角三角形状的等深线圈闭,两条边长约为10 km。等深线圈闭的中间区域是一个小型洼地,洼地内部地势平缓,根据该闭合圈内测深数据的统计,最大水深位于11°07′18″N,139°00′14″E,水深为8 333 m。交汇处北部则发育有一个水深超过7 000 m的盆地,盆地为楔形,SE–NW走向,长约为30 km,宽约为15 km。盆地底部发育有平坦的洼地,最大水深为7 705 m。
交汇区东侧是俯冲板块最北部的高地,其上有海山发育,顶部水深为3 560 m。海山顶部至海沟轴线之间的陆坡上发育有数量众多的小型隆起或海丘和一系列无固定走向的断裂。
雅浦海沟的形成与演化主要受到菲律宾海板块、加罗林板块以及太平洋板块俯冲的影响。30 Ma以前,九州–帕劳海脊、伊豆–小笠原岛弧、西马里亚纳海脊和马里亚纳岛弧应连成一体,构成统一的活动岛弧系,称为“古九州–帕劳海脊”。始新世早期,太平洋板块俯冲至菲律宾海板块之下[20],岛弧开始活动,形成了古俯冲带[21],古九州–帕劳海脊则属于古俯冲带的岛弧。随着太平洋板块的持续俯冲和古海沟的不断后撤,边缘岛弧的弧火山活动为海盆打开提供了薄弱带。在大约距今30 Ma的时候,古九州–帕劳海脊开始裂解,帕里西维拉海盆开始扩张,扩张方向呈E–W向;约距今27 Ma时,古九州–帕劳海脊的北部也开始裂解,四国海盆开始扩张,扩张方向呈NEE–SWW向;随着两个海盆的扩张,古海脊分为东西两个部分,在约距今22 Ma时,海脊的东西两部分完全分离[16-17]。西侧的海脊火山活动停止,演化为残弧,及现今的九州–帕劳海脊[1]。而东部分离出去的则为古伊豆–小笠原–马里亚纳岛弧,岛弧随着海盆逐渐加宽而向东发生后退现象。
加罗林板块被测得的年龄是距今35~30 Ma,而其上伏的加罗林海脊是在大约25 Ma以前的晚渐新世时期由热点火山形成的海山链[12, 22]。加罗林海脊位于加罗林板块与太平洋板块交界处,被索罗尔海槽裂解成南北两部分。其北部被称为加罗林岛脊,随太平洋板块运动;西侧被称为西加罗林海隆,随加罗林板块运动。经研究发现索罗尔海槽的形成时间在距今17~7 Ma之间[23]。加罗林海脊随着板块的俯冲逐渐向菲律宾海板块靠近,在距今20 Ma的时候,加罗林海脊与菲律宾海板块发生“碰撞”[6]。地势较高的加罗林海脊阻塞了古海沟南段,减缓了板块的俯冲速度和海沟系统的后撤现象。与此同时,帕里西维拉海盆的扩张方向也由E–W向变为NE–SW向,扩张中心逐渐向东北移动,在距今15 Ma前后海盆扩张停止[7]。被加罗林海脊阻塞的古海沟南部并没有发生海沟后退现象,发育成了现在的雅浦海沟[6]。古海沟北部的俯冲带继续发生后撤现象,海盆的扩张使得菲律宾海板块的东缘开始凸出。在约距今5 Ma,古伊豆–博宁–马里亚纳岛弧开始张裂[1],岛弧的张裂使地壳发生减薄、下沉,最终导致马里亚纳海槽内扩张的开始[18]。新产生的岛弧在后扩张的作用下向东移动,发育成马里亚纳岛弧,而遗留下的则是西马里亚纳岛弧。马里亚纳海槽的弧形扩张现今仍在活跃,而马里亚纳海沟继续向东发生后退现象。
雅浦海沟的形成与演化过程可分为两个阶段[6-7]。晚始新世至渐新世早期,太平洋板块俯冲至菲律宾海板块下,形成古马里亚纳–雅浦海沟;晚渐新世以来,加罗林海脊在约25海里处与海沟发生碰撞,碰撞的同时引起了弧后盆地扩张模式的改变[6, 10]。此外,在雅浦“沟–弧”系的最北部靠近帕里西维拉海盆的中央裂谷带,断裂带的走向与雅浦海沟相似,而且在雅浦海沟北部存在一个地球物理特征十分特殊的区域,因此一些学者认为雅浦海沟可能是由帕里西维拉海盆的中央裂谷带演化而来[8, 18]
关于雅浦海沟的形成与演化一直以来是众多学者关注的焦点[6, 8, 10-11]。根据现有的研究结果,作者将雅浦海沟的演化模型分为两种,其一是加罗林海脊碰撞演化模式,其二则是帕里西维拉海盆扩张中心演化模式。
雅浦海沟的形成与演化经历了太平洋板块俯冲于菲律宾海板块之下形成古马里亚纳–雅浦海沟和加罗林板块与菲律宾海板块的相互作用对雅浦海沟–岛弧构造改造两个主要阶段[6]。始新世时期太平洋板块俯冲于菲律宾海板块之下,形成了古马里亚纳–雅浦海沟和古九州–帕劳海脊。随着太平洋板块向菲律宾海板块下俯冲,古马里亚纳–雅浦海沟不断向东发生后退现象,其间也形成四国海盆和帕里西维拉海盆[24]。在距今20 Ma前后,加罗林板块上驮的加罗林海脊堵塞了古马里亚纳–雅浦海沟南段的俯冲作用,削弱了板块的俯冲,这里既不发生弧后扩张也没有海沟后退现象,发育成为现在的雅浦海沟。而古海沟的北段一直向东后撤,变为现在的马里亚纳海沟[6]
大约20 Ma前,加罗林海脊与古海沟的南端发生碰撞,阻碍了古海沟的后退和帕里西维拉海盆东西向的扩张。帕里西维拉海盆变为NE–SW向扩张,帕里西维拉海盆扩张方向的改变最直接的表现为形成了一系列“S”型转换断层、雁列式排布的深海海岭以及NW–SE向的海底构造线。同时海盆发生了类似于左旋走滑的相对运动,将扩张中心东部的海盆朝着东北方向推离。这样使得在帕里西维拉海盆南部原本已经俯冲的部分洋壳重新暴露,对应于加罗林海脊和雅浦岛弧之间的“新月”形区域。此外帕里西维拉海盆南部的一部分扩张中心也显露出来,显露出来的扩张中心在太平洋板块和加罗林板块连续的俯冲之下转变成了雅浦海沟。而俯冲伴随的岛弧岩浆作用则导致了雅浦岛弧的隆升[8]
根据上述两种演化模式可以发现,雅浦海沟演化模式的关键点在于20 Ma前加罗林海脊与菲律宾海板块的“碰撞” 事件。那我们可以推测一下在20 Ma前古马里亚纳–雅浦海沟的大致位置。
首先是帕里西维拉海盆扩张中心的所在位置。在距今30~20 Ma之间帕里西维拉海盆东西向扩张,在广袤的海盆内留下大量南北走向的线性脊–槽地貌;而在距今20~15 Ma之间,帕里西维拉海盆NE–SW向扩张形成了一系列的雁列式排布的深海海岭、海槽和NW–SE向的构造线。在137°35′34″E附近(如图9中红色1号线所示)帕里西维拉海盆中的线性脊–槽地貌发生了明显的偏转,所以推测在20 Ma前海盆扩张中心应位于此处。
然后是位于帕里西维拉海盆东部边缘的古伊豆–小笠原–马里亚纳岛弧所在位置。帕里西维拉海盆的扩张并不对称,以扩张中心为分界,东侧长西侧较短,中部宽两端较窄,盆地南端的东翼存在的缺失,经测量发现海盆的西部比东部宽40~120 km[16]。九州–帕劳海脊和红色1号线之间的距离约为280 km,由此可以推测在20 Ma前古岛弧大约位于扩张中心以东160~240 km处,取平均则为200 km(如图9中黄色2号线所示)。
最后是古伊豆–小笠原–马里亚纳岛弧东部的古马里亚纳–雅浦海沟的位置。马里亚纳海沟宽约70 km,由此可以推测20 Ma前古海沟大致位于古岛弧东部70 km处(如图9中蓝色3号线所示)。而这距离已经位于现在的雅浦海沟的东部,这一点也间接的支持了第二种雅浦海沟–弧系的演化模式,雅浦海沟很可能是由帕里西维拉海盆暴露出来的扩张中心转变而成。
雅浦海沟、马里亚纳海沟以及北雅浦构造带三者以交汇点为中心形成“T”字形的三重连接。交汇区域内部隆起一座海山,将其分为两部分,在交汇处周围则有3座体积大、地势高的海山。3座海山分别位于雅浦岛弧、马里亚纳海沟陆坡以及俯冲板块的顶端,是其所在范围内地势最高的海山。将3座海山相连,其连线几乎呈直角三角形,与雅浦海沟和马里亚纳海沟的垂直交汇相对应(图10);而且位于俯冲板块顶端的海山与雅浦岛弧之上的海山的连线方向与太平洋板块俯冲方向几乎平行;海山之间的雅浦海沟、马里亚纳海沟都呈现出底部狭窄、水深较浅的特性;此外交汇处的洋坡上发育有一系列近南北走向和近东西向的断裂带。以上这些构造地貌特征强烈的暗示了海沟交汇处地形的隆起、凹陷、断裂可能与这种特殊的俯冲位置有关系。
首先来看俯冲板块顶端的海山,在俯冲板块上获取4条剖面线(图10)。这些剖面线显示,从加罗林海脊底部到雅浦海沟洋坡的顶端地势先下降后上升的趋势,越靠近海沟交汇处地势越高;而且,在这块俯冲的中间地带并没有明显的海山,只有因地垒和地堑形成的小型地垒平台和地堑槽(图11)。所以推测雅浦海沟北部的俯冲板块在靠近海沟会产生隆起的现象,而位于海沟交汇处的板块隆起的地势相对较高,形成了海山。俯冲板块顶端的海山向雅浦海沟俯冲,在一定程度上影响了雅浦岛弧,使得与之相对应的洋坡顶部,发育成了雅浦岛弧北部地势最高的海山,这座海山的形成也使海沟的陆坡向海沟方向凸出,使得雅浦海沟水深变浅、底部狭窄,是雅浦海沟北部呈分段性的重要因素之一。而位于马里亚纳海沟陆坡顶部的这座海山的形成机制应该与其相同。3座海山形成挤压的趋势。
由此可以得出,海沟交汇处是俯冲带的顶端,雅浦俯冲带的延伸向北到此为止,之后沿马里亚纳海沟俯冲,在交汇处附近拥有隆起、凹陷、断裂等的地形地貌与此处特殊的俯冲位置具有一定的关系。
北雅浦悬崖位于雅浦海沟与马里亚纳海沟交汇处以北,从11°45′N向北延伸至12°N附近。从整体上来看,北雅浦悬崖、雅浦岛弧与帕里西维拉海盆扩张中心的海岭和海槽几乎平行。这种地貌形态强烈的暗示了雅浦岛弧、北雅浦悬崖和帕里西维拉中央裂谷具有类似的演化。北雅浦悬崖东部的陡坡上,大部分地区被岩屑覆盖,这些堆积物主要是由橄榄岩和火山角砾岩组成[11]。现研究发现,北雅浦悬崖的形成时间大约在20 Ma以前,且与雅浦海沟具有相似的岩性,而且该区域的自由空气重力异常为负值,在布格重力异常图上并没有表现出显著特征[10]。这表明北雅浦悬崖是一个残余结构。由此推断,北雅浦悬崖可能是帕里西维拉海盆东北向扩张时期形成的裂谷,之后受雅浦沟–弧系的影响发育成现在的北雅浦悬崖。
本文将多波束数据和全球测深数据融合,得到了大范围、高精度、多分辨率的水深地形图。对雅浦海沟与马里亚纳海沟连接处海域的地貌及其形成机制进行了系统的研究与讨论,主要得到以下结论:
(1)雅浦海沟与马里亚纳海沟在11°07′N,139°00′E附近垂直相交,交界点处的最大水深为8 333 m,位于11°07′21″N,139°00′02″E。雅浦海沟北部的最大水深为8 935 m,位于10°33′00″N,138°41′33″E。
(2)雅浦海沟与马里亚纳海沟在靠近海沟交汇处时呈现出分段性特征,海沟的水深、形态、剖面等都发生明显变化。海沟分段特征的形成与两条海沟的交界处有直接的联系。
(3)根据地貌特征判断,在大约20 Ma前帕里西维拉海盆扩张中心应位于137°35′34″E附近,西维拉海盆东部的古俯冲带则大约位于现今雅浦海沟的东部。所以雅浦海沟可能不是由古伊豆–小笠原–马里亚纳海沟的南端演化形成,很可能是由帕里西维拉海盆暴露出来的扩张中心转变而成。
(4)雅浦海沟与马里亚纳海沟的交汇处是俯冲带的顶端,俯冲带向北到此为止,然后转向约90°并沿着马里亚纳海沟继续延伸。海沟交汇处隆起、凹陷、断裂等复杂的地形地貌与此处特殊的俯冲位置具有一定的关系。
(5)海沟交汇处以北的北雅浦悬崖则是由帕里西维拉海盆东北向扩张时期形成的裂谷,之后受雅浦沟–弧系的影响而形成。北雅浦悬崖目前不是一个活动特征,但是雅浦海沟的俯冲对此处具有一定程度的影响。
