Inattentional blindness is a human error related to selective attention or inattention. In order to reduce safety accidents caused by inattentional blindness in high-altitude work among construction workers,30 participants were selected for an experiment to analyze the importance of inattentional blindness in the failure of safety risk perception,as well as the personality trait-related factors that affect inattentional blindness and the failure of safety risk perception,and to establish practical safety management strategies. The results show that inattentional blindness accounts for 50% of the failure of safety risk perception. In addition,personality traits have a significant relationship with inattentional blindness and failure of safety risk perception,with extraversion,conscientiousness,and openness significantly correlated with inattentional blindness and failure of safety risk perception. Workers with low extraversion,high conscientiousness,and low openness have lower proportions of safety risk perception failure and inattentional blindness.

非注意视盲是一种与选择性注意或不注意有关的人因失误。为减少建筑工人高空作业非注意视盲导致的安全事故,选取30名被试参与一项试验,分析非注意视盲在安全风险感知失败中的重要性,以及影响非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败的人格特质相关因素,建立实用的安全管理策略。结果表明:非注意视盲占安全风险感知失败的50%。另外,人格特质与非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败有明显的关系,外向性、严谨性和开放性与非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败有显著的相关关系;低外向性、高严谨性和低开放性的作业人员拥有更低的安全风险感知失败和非注意视盲的比例。

Inattentional blindness is a human error related to selective attention or inattention. In order to reduce safety accidents caused by inattentional blindness in high-altitude work among construction workers,30 participants were selected for an experiment to analyze the importance of inattentional blindness in the failure of safety risk perception,as well as the personality trait-related factors that affect inattentional blindness and the failure of safety risk perception,and to establish practical safety management strategies. The results show that inattentional blindness accounts for 50% of the failure of safety risk perception. In addition,personality traits have a significant relationship with inattentional blindness and failure of safety risk perception,with extraversion,conscientiousness,and openness significantly correlated with inattentional blindness and failure of safety risk perception. Workers with low extraversion,high conscientiousness,and low openness have lower proportions of safety risk perception failure and inattentional blindness.

根据住房和城乡建设部2015—2020年统计数据,建筑业每年事故发生率和死亡率呈波动态势[1],导致事故的主要原因为物的不安全状态和人的不安全行为。相关研究认为,危险识别失败和安全风险感知失败是导致事故的主要原因[2]。也有相关研究证明,性格很可能在作业人员的决策和行为中表现出来,所以作业人员个人特征中的人格特质是影响其安全行为的重要因素之一[3]。因此,研究人格特质对建筑业高空作业人员非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败的影响,对控制作业人员不安全行为和减少建筑施工安全事故的发生具有重要意义。
非注意视盲被认为是源于认知心理学的人因失误[4-5],其被定义为由于注意力投入到一个任务或事件上而没有注意到另一个完全可见的物体,从而导致事故。关于非注意视盲的研究已经在交通安全领域广泛开展[6-8],但在建筑安全施工领域的研究较为鲜见[9-10]。危险识别和安全风险感知的表现与注意力密切相关。换言之,视觉安全检查是减少建筑业事故发生的最重要的安全管理方法之一。然而,视觉检查严重依赖于个体的视觉搜索能力,视觉注意力在危险识别中起主导作用。为更好地通过眼动来理解注意力,在过去的几年中,眼动追踪技术已被广泛使用[11-12],并且人格特质与注视行为的关系也已经在视觉信息加工和社交注视的情景中得到证实[13-14]。但在建筑安全施工领域,当作业人员暴露于危险时,人格特质的不同水平是如何影响作业人员的注意力和危险识别能力仍然存在疑问。近年来,一些研究利用眼动数据分析了危险识别和风险感知,然而,这些研究在设计试验时大多没有考虑非注意视盲的概念。如上所述,非注意视盲通常发生在执行主要任务时出现次要任务的情景下。大多数研究中测量危险识别的试验设计都是为了让被试有目的地识别潜在的危险,忽视了非注意视盲现象,为克服这些差距,用试验环境来处理非注意视盲,以揭示非注意视盲的重要性,并注重对现场应用的实际贡献。
鉴于此,笔者拟设计眼动追踪试验,探索建筑业高空作业人员人格特质对非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败的影响,首先,被试在案例图像中履行其原始职责,包括识别作业任务类型和各种可能存在的危险,并且使用眼动仪设备捕捉被试的视觉注意力;其次,通过情景意识测试,检查被试是否准确识别危险;最后,根据研究结果制定现场策略,以减少因非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败而导致的事故,以期为制定适合作业人员独特经历和个性背景的安全解决方案和个性化培训材料提供参考依据。
试验采用便携式眼动仪收集数据和分析被试在兴趣区(Area Of Interest,AOI)眼球运动的相关信息。以往研究表明:眼球追踪研究的有效被试人数范围为6~55人,30人是眼动追踪研究的理想参与者规模[15]。为避免作业人员本身所产生的认知习惯和思维定势所带来的试验偏差,招募18名土木工程和12名工程管理专业的研究生作为被试,被试裸眼或矫正视力均正常,没有眼部疾病,也没有佩戴隐形眼镜等影响眼动仪识别和追踪眼球运动的物品。30名被试均在施工单位有一年以上的施工现场实习经验,对施工现场的安全风险分布情况较为熟悉。在正式试验开始之前,对试验小组进行为期一天的设备和软件操作培训,并开展一次预试验,改进试验过程中所存在的问题。由于有6名被试无法在眼动仪上获得令人满意的校准水平,最终获得24名被试的有效数据。
试验材料全部通过工地走访调查获取,共获取366张包含住建部通报的高处坠落典型事故原始状态的施工照片。首先,剔除质量较差或危险过于模糊的照片,得到有效照片210张。然后,筛选临边、洞口、攀登、悬空、交叉等5种基本高空作业类型的照片,并经过专家和试验小组团队成员的讨论,最终确定40张高处施工照片作为试验刺激材料。主要危险源包括:①在未安装正式栏杆、门窗等围护结构的建筑物楼梯口、电梯口及设备安装预留洞口等地作业;②在无防护的井架、施工电梯、脚手架、阳台、料台和挑平台等地作业;③施工现场上部搭设脚手架、吊运物料,地面人员在无防护的情况下搬运材料、制作钢筋,或在外墙上面进行面层装饰,而下面打底抹灰等。试验采取非侵入方式追踪眼球运动,能够较大程度地满足被试在试验中的自由度。
共进行2次测试,试验程序如图1所示。第1次测试在实验室进行,试验仪器包括24英寸的显示器屏幕、鼠标和眼动仪。要求被试根据以往知识、经验,判断施工场景图片的作业类型,并点击鼠标确认,被试提前未被告知图片中是否存在危险。在测试过程中,采用眼动仪收集和分析被试在AOI上的眼球运动信息,分析预定义为危险的AOI,识别被试的认知特征。AOI一般为图像中吸引被试注意力的有趣物体或位置,包括周围的区域、工人、设备,或任何存在安全隐患的刺激物。在选定的图像中,AOI被用作潜在的危险情况,由2位专业的人员在案例图像库中预先定义危险和风险情况,如在高处坠落风险情况下的工人处于无保护的建筑物附近或脚手架边缘。采用眼动仪和ErgoLAB 3.0软件平台收集被试的眼球运动信息,并在第2次测试中分析这些数据。
第2次测试是情景意识(Situation Awareness,SA)测试,要求每个被试重新观看第1次测试中的图片,并回答问题,检查其是否在2次测试的相同图片中识别出预先定义的危险,这些危险是否被准确地感知为安全风险。为确认被试是否识别AOI (危险),使用ErgoLAB 3.0软件导出眼动指标(注视次数和访问次数)。根据JEELANI等[16]的研究,包括注视次数和访问次数在内的视觉搜索模式可以预测危险识别的绩效。每个被试在不同图像上的注视次数或访问次数相对较低或为0被视为未注意到的危险。
由被试填写中国大五人格问卷(Chinese Big Five Personality Inventory Brief Version,CBF-PI-B)量表,共40个题项,并采用量表进行数据收集及分析。该量表的测量维度和对应题项见表1
以非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败作为因变量,测试人格特质对建筑业高空作业人员安全绩效的影响。根据第1次测试结果,第2次测试中每个危险的答案被标记为“×”(没有识别)或“√”(正确识别并记住该情况)。如果被试没有准确地注意到危险,即为安全风险感知失败。被试安全风险感知的表现仅针对被识别的危险。因此,安全风险感知失败有2种情况:①在执行主任务时,第1次测试没有识别到危险,将其定义为非注意视盲,即危险识别失败,并定义为a,代表的是AOI的注视次数和访问次数极低或为0。②虽然危险被注意到,但在被试执行主要任务时,它并不被视为安全风险。将其定义为b,代表的是在第1次测试时,被试的AOI注视次数和访问次数相对正常,但是在第2次的测试中,被试并没有将AOI的危险视为安全风险。每个被试安全风险感知失败的绩效评分计算为(a+b)/(a+b+c)。a+b+c是危险总数,其中,c为正确感知的安全风险,代表的是在第1次测试时,被试的AOI注视次数和访问次数相对正常,在第2次的测试中,被试也准确地识别出AOI的危险。高分表示被试安全风险感知失败的可能性大。同样地,每个被试危险识别失败的表现分数a越高,表示被试倾向于表现出高的非注意视盲。
通过计算被试非注意视盲在安全风险感知失败中的比例,探讨非注意视盲在安全风险感知失败中的重要性。通过计算,安全风险感知失败的平均绩效比例为32.80%,根据c/(a+b+c),被试在所有图片上注意到危险的平均比例为67.2%。根据a/(a+b),可以评估安全风险感知失败中的非注意视盲比例,该公式表明:安全风险感知失败从一开始就是由于危险识别失败而发生的。其中,非注意视盲的平均比例为16.40%。这意味着被试平均无法准确感知到32.80%的潜在危害。其中,大约有16.40%是非注意视盲造成的,表明被试在进行主任务时,从一开始就没有识别出危险。根据平均比例而言,大概有近一半的安全风险感知失败是非注意视盲造成的,具体如图2所示。这表明非注意视盲在安全风险感知失败中占据重要地位。
为进一步考察非注意视盲在安全风险感知失败中的重要性,进行深入分析。根据被试安全风险感知失败的绩效,将被试分为3组,分别为 Q 1 Q 2 Q3,非注意视盲在安全风险感知失败中的比例如图3所示。每一组非注意视盲占安全风险感知失败的比例都是50%左右,并且,安全风险感知失败和非注意视盲之间的相关性为r=-0.540,p=0.133,没有明显的相关性,这意味着无论被试安全风险感知的能力如何,非注意视盲都可能发生,并且在大多数情况下占安全风险感知失败的大部分比例。因此,大部分的安全风险感知失败都可归因于非注意视盲,它作为安全管理过程中的初始步骤发挥着重要作用。
使用ErgoLAB 3.0导出被试的眼动热点图,眼动热点图可直观地表现出被试的眼动分布情况,图中热点颜色最深的区域表示被试眼动和注视最为明显和集中的区域,随着被试注视的不集中,热点颜色逐渐变浅。不同人格特质的眼动热点图如图4所示。
图4可知:高外向性被试的注视区域比较密集,但注视区域内并没有明显的危险特征,高外向性被试在进行眼动试验时,主观性和随意性较强。并且高外向性被试的视点大多数都是最浅的颜色,说明高外向性被试不会经常集中注意力于某一区域,即不会经常关注危险源,安全风险感知失败的可能性会更大。
高宜人性的人格特质与人际关系、团队工作等相关,所以高宜人性被试的眼动热点图注意力主要集中在人身上,而对环境中危险的注意力较弱。并且高宜人性被试的视点颜色较浅,面积也较小,说明高宜人性被试对危险的注意力分配较少。
高严谨性被试的观察视点较为集中,注意力的针对性较强,注意的范围和危险所在范围一致,并且危险的视点区域面积较大,且颜色最深。说明被试在此处的注视时间较长,视觉信息处理较为深入。高严谨性的人群更容易发现危险,识别危险。
图4a中,被试的视点跳跃性较强,并且分布较为零散,被试的注视时间也较短,视点颜色多为最浅色,表明高神经质被试对危险的注意力分配较少。
高开放性的人格特质通常是具有创造力的,对变化充满激情,热衷于刺激性的事物,这类群体的眼动热点图观察视点较少,颜色也较浅,对危险所在范围的注意力也不够集中,可能是施工环境中没有他们感兴趣的AOI。
在分析之前,对本文中的所有人格特质进行了描述性统计和Cronbach's alpha系数的计算,见表2。由表2可知:问卷中的人格维度、题目数量、平均值、标准差以及所有人格特征的内部一致性。CBF-PI-B量表总体Cronbach's α系数值是0.835,5个维度的分量表的Cronbach's α系数值全部在0.7以上,表明量表有良好的内部一致性。
人格特质(外向性、宜人性、严谨性、神经质、开放性)、非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败均服从正态分布,夏皮洛-威尔克检验显著性依次为p=0.904,p=0.064,p=0.060,p=0.112,p=0.876,p=0.058,p=0.200,均大于0.05,所以服从正态分布。
人格特质与非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败绩效之间的相关分析结果见表3。由表3可知:外向性与非注意视盲(p=0.002<0.01)和安全风险感知失败(p=0.023<0.05)呈正相关;严谨性与非注意视盲(p=0.007<0.01)和安全风险感知失败(p=0.006<0.01)呈负相关;开放性与非注意视盲(p=0.020<0.05)和安全风险感知失败(p=0.004<0.01)呈正相关。
基于CBF量表分析结果,区分被试的人格特质,在每一类人格特征下,分别选取高分段和低分段的被试,再做2组差异性检验。高低人格特质对非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败的影响独立t检验结果见表4。结果表明:莱文方差等同性检验显著性均大于0.05,满足方差齐性。外向性人格特质的被试对非注意视盲(p=0.033<0.05)和安全风险感知失败(p=0.001<0.01)有显著的正向影响,低外向性组的非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败绩效明显优于高外向性组。高低严谨性人格特质在非注意视盲(p=0.017<0.05)和安全风险感知失败(p=0.045<0.05)绩效表现方面有明显的差异,高严谨性组的非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败绩效明显低于低严谨性组。高低开放性人格特质对非注意视盲(p=0.033<0.05)和安全风险感知失败(p=0.001<0.01)绩效表现方面有明显的差异,低开放性组的非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败绩效明显低于高开放性组。关于宜人性和神经质人格特质在非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败方面,各组之间没有显著差异。
研究结果表明:外向性的人格特质与高空作业人员的安全风险感知失败和非注意视盲有显著关系,高外向性的作业人员安全风险感知失败率和非注意视盲比例会更高。以往的眼动试验研究表明:较少返回注意力和较少固定在危险区域的作业人员危险识别能力低,此研究结果也在文中得到证明,这些作业人员的安全风险感知失败和非注意视盲的比例较高。事实上,高外向性的人有更大的风险倾向,这表明他们倾向于承担风险和参与风险行为。此外,高外向性的人在单调的条件下或在警觉性任务中可能会有较差的表现,他们不会像低外向性的人那样投入到任务中,更有可能犯与疲劳有关的错误。考虑到无法发现危险是一种常见的人因失误,也是大量建筑安全事故的根本原因,高外向性的作业人员不太可能注意到危险或低估安全风险。这一发现为安全管理人员提供一个很好的机会,利用人格特质评估预先识别那些可能需要额外培训或安全管理的高危岗位工人。
宜人性的人格特质与安全风险感知失败和非注意视盲之间的关系较弱,并且高宜人性和低宜人性2组的安全风险感知失败和非注意视盲没有显著性差异。这是因为宜人性人格特质是与人际关系,特别是团队工作相关。当一群工人需要合作完成一项工作时,它可能会对工人的安全行为产生影响。如低宜人性的人通常好斗、敌对、有攻击性。他们经常参与到争论中,导致群体中的压力或情绪激动。相比之下,高宜人性的人通常拥有较高的人际交往能力,并能有效与他人合作解决问题。由于文中仅限于确定人格特质在个人层面中的安全作用(即与其他工人隔离),因此,在这种试验背景下,宜人性对安全风险感知失败和非注意视盲的影响有限,即不显著是合理的。
严谨性与非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败有显著的相关关系,高严谨性的人比低严谨性的人更注意危险。根据人格特质,高严谨性的人更善于照顾自己,而低严谨性的人比较粗心大意或容易分心,通常不能遵守工作中的规则和条例,更容易出现认知上的失误。同样,在工作场所中,高严谨性的人可能较少参与冒险行为,并通过事先充分注意识别危险而避免事故发生。因此,选择高严谨性的工人是提高建筑施工安全的一个可行方法。除此之外,安全管理人员在开发培训和干预技术以改变工人的严谨性特征方面可起到关键作用,因为与严谨性相关的行为被公认为是可以改善的,特别是通过强调“遵守规则”和“关注细节”的培训。
神经质与非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败之间没有明显的相关性,并且高神经质和低神经质组之间的差异性并不显著。根据人格特质,低神经质的人是情绪稳定的,人是平静的、不嫉妒的或放松的,神经质与保持理性思维和在决策中不受负面情绪的影响有关,仅限于对危险的识别,与行为反应无关,因此,相关结果并不显著。关于开放性与非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败之间存在显著相关关系,并且高开放性和低开放性组存在显著差异。根据人格特质,高开放性的人热衷于应对变化带来的刺激,愿意冒险,也更容易违反规则、试验和创新。因此,高开放性人的安全风险感知失败和非注意视盲的比例较高。
1) 通过眼动追踪试验分析非注意视盲在安全风险感知失败中的重要性,结果表明:非注意视盲占安全风险感知失败的50%,这表明非注意视盲在安全风险感知失败中占据重要地位。并且通过进一步分组分析,发现无论被试安全风险感知的能力如何,非注意视盲都可能发生,并且在大多数情况下占安全风险感知失败的大部分比例。
2) 人格特质与非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败有明显的关系,外向性、严谨性和开放性与非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败有显著的相关关系;低外向性、高严谨性和低开放性的作业人员拥有更低的安全风险感知失败和非注意视盲的比例。
3) 通过在实验室进行眼动追踪试验,初步探究了非注意视盲在安全风险感知失败中的重要性,以及人格特质对非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败的影响。未来的研究可以采用多模态的方式,引入生理仪和脑电等生理设备,通过多种指标的测量,更加全面的探究人格特质对非注意视盲和安全风险感知失败的影响。
