Flexible structures actuated by smart materials have been widely used in the fields of underwater bionic robotics, precision medical machines, micro/nano devices, and so on. It is still a challenging task to acquire the hydrodynamic force exerted on the oscillating flexible structure by the surrounding fluid. The fluid-structure coupled dynamic equation of the MFC-actuated flexible structure is established. A cantilever-based measurement system for the hydrodynamic force is proposed, and the performance indexes are also proposed. The characteristic parameters of the force measurement device are calibrated by experiments. Then, dynamic variations of the hydrodynamic forces exerted on the MFC-actuated flexible structure at different actuation levels are acquired using the proposed system. The measured hydrodynamic forces are decomposed into two components, namely, the added mass force and the hydrodynamic damping force. Moreover, the inertia and drag coefficients in the form of Morrison’s expression are obtained. Experimental results show that the underwater oscillating amplitude of the MFC-actuated structure increases from 3.67 mm to a maximum of 4.23 mm, as the excitation frequencies increase from 2.5 Hz to the resonant frequency of 3.1 Hz. Accordingly, the measured hydrodynamic force exerted on the oscillating structure increases significantly from 86.16 to 184.83 mN. However, the hydrodynamic force stays roughly unchanged, differing by no more than 15%. The proposed method and measurement system may be helpful for the design and application of the underwater flexible structure actuated by MFC and other smart materials.

本文建立了压电宏纤维 (MFC) 致动柔性结构的流固耦合动力学模型。提出了测量水下MFC 致动柔性结构所受水动力的悬臂式测量机构,并给出设计指标。对悬臂式测量机构进行了实际参数标定,实验测量了MFC致动柔性结构在不同激励条件下所受水动力的动态变化过程,将获得的水动力分解为附加质量力和流体阻尼力分量,计算得到对应的惯性系数以及阻力系数随激励参数的变化情况。实验结果表明:当水下柔性结构振荡频率从2.5 Hz增大到其水下固有频率3.1 Hz时,其末端摆幅从3.67 mm增至最大值4.23 mm;相应地,其所受水动力载荷幅值从86.16 mN迅速增加到184.83 mN;而当振荡频率继续增大到4.0 Hz时,其所受水动力载荷的变化显著减小,变化幅度不超过15%。所提出的水动力测量方法以及实验结果为流体环境中智能柔性结构的设计分析提供了参考。

本文建立了压电宏纤维 (MFC) 致动柔性结构的流固耦合动力学模型。提出了测量水下MFC 致动柔性结构所受水动力的悬臂式测量机构,并给出设计指标。对悬臂式测量机构进行了实际参数标定,实验测量了MFC致动柔性结构在不同激励条件下所受水动力的动态变化过程,将获得的水动力分解为附加质量力和流体阻尼力分量,计算得到对应的惯性系数以及阻力系数随激励参数的变化情况。实验结果表明:当水下柔性结构振荡频率从2.5 Hz增大到其水下固有频率3.1 Hz时,其末端摆幅从3.67 mm增至最大值4.23 mm;相应地,其所受水动力载荷幅值从86.16 mN迅速增加到184.83 mN;而当振荡频率继续增大到4.0 Hz时,其所受水动力载荷的变化显著减小,变化幅度不超过15%。所提出的水动力测量方法以及实验结果为流体环境中智能柔性结构的设计分析提供了参考。

Flexible structures actuated by smart materials have been widely used in the fields of underwater bionic robotics, precision medical machines, micro/nano devices, and so on. It is still a challenging task to acquire the hydrodynamic force exerted on the oscillating flexible structure by the surrounding fluid. The fluid-structure coupled dynamic equation of the MFC-actuated flexible structure is established. A cantilever-based measurement system for the hydrodynamic force is proposed, and the performance indexes are also proposed. The characteristic parameters of the force measurement device are calibrated by experiments. Then, dynamic variations of the hydrodynamic forces exerted on the MFC-actuated flexible structure at different actuation levels are acquired using the proposed system. The measured hydrodynamic forces are decomposed into two components, namely, the added mass force and the hydrodynamic damping force. Moreover, the inertia and drag coefficients in the form of Morrison’s expression are obtained. Experimental results show that the underwater oscillating amplitude of the MFC-actuated structure increases from 3.67 mm to a maximum of 4.23 mm, as the excitation frequencies increase from 2.5 Hz to the resonant frequency of 3.1 Hz. Accordingly, the measured hydrodynamic force exerted on the oscillating structure increases significantly from 86.16 to 184.83 mN. However, the hydrodynamic force stays roughly unchanged, differing by no more than 15%. The proposed method and measurement system may be helpful for the design and application of the underwater flexible structure actuated by MFC and other smart materials.

水下推进器在海底资源探测、油管检查和鱼类观测等应用方面备受关注。鱼类在长达数百万年的进化中已经拥有了卓越的游泳技能和形态以降低水阻力,因此它们成为了设计水下推进器的理想灵感来源[1]。据估计,85%的鱼类主要依靠尾鳍进行巡航和加速,这被称为BCF(body and caudal fin)推进方式。仿生水下推进装置采用模仿鱼类尾鳍运动的方式,相较于螺旋桨驱动的水下推进器,具有更可靠的机动性、更高的推进效率和卓越的隐蔽性。早期的仿生水下推进器采用电机、液压和气动驱动,并配合铰链、齿轮等传动方式来模拟鱼类的运动,然而这些传动结构十分复杂,且不利于环保[2]
近年来,随着智能材料的发展,压电陶瓷、离子聚合物、形状记忆合金以及介电弹性体等广泛应用于能量俘获、仿生飞行器、抑振控制等领域[3-4]。智能材料有着自变形、自感知、自控制等特性,十分适合用来实现复杂的仿鱼类运动[5]。相对于传动电机驱动,智能材料驱动大幅减少了机构的复杂程度。受鱼类BCF推进模式的启发,许多研究采用由智能材料驱动的柔性结构作为水下推进器的驱动装置,并在水下仿生机器人领域取得了丰硕的成果。高飞等[6]利用SMA作驱动器设计了一种性能更加优异的仿墨鱼喷射式推进器,该推进器鳍波动产生的最大推力可达159 mN。 由美国NASA Langley 研究中心研发的基于指叉电极及复合材料技术的新型压电材料-压电宏纤维复合材料MFC(macro fiber composite)有着能耗低、噪声小、防水性能强等优点,十分适用于水下推进器的驱动。CEN 等[7]以MFC双晶片悬臂梁为动力源,设计了一种可以实现直线和转弯运动的水下机器鱼,游动速度可达0.31 BL/s。
虽然MFC及其他智能材料致动的柔性结构作为水下推进器的驱动机构已经被证实非常有前景,但研究柔性结构在流体与结构之间的相互作用机制仍是一个有挑战性的问题[8]。对施加在振荡柔性结构上的水动力效应的研究以及对仿生推进器的优化设计有着重要的意义。由于鱼鳍的形状十分复杂,一些研究采用简化的矩形梁来表示鱼鳍:PARAZ等[9]获得了一个矩形板在其共振频率下的最佳游泳性能;BRUMLEY等[10]对黏性流体中矩形梁振荡产生的水动力载荷进行了理论分析,并针对不同的厚宽比以及特征频率的矩形梁计算了其水动力载荷的精确数值解;顾霆等[11]建立了局部粘贴MFC致动器的水下弹性结构的机-电-液耦合振动模型,并通过实验验证了所建立模型的有效性;GOVINDARAJAN等[12]测量了MFC致动的矩形梁在水下振荡时的平均功率,并发现随着浸没深度的增加,振荡所产生的推进力也会变大;YEH等[13]通过计算机仿真发现,当MFC致动的柔性矩形板的主动段和被动段尺寸相近时有着最佳的整体游动性能;LIU等[14]提出,附加质量力在振荡矩形梁结构的推力产生中起着关键作用,且较大的雷诺数(Re)会产生较高的推力和推进效率。
本文首先针对流体环境中MFC致动的柔性结构建立流固耦合动力学模型,对柔性结构在水下振荡时的受力情况进行分析,根据水动力的作用形式设计一套悬臂式水动力测量机构,并提出相应的设计指标,进行标定拟合实验。对MFC致动的柔性结构在空气中的动态响应进行测量,随后基于所设计的水动力测量机构对柔性结构在水下的动态响应以及不同激励条件下受到的水动力载荷进行测量,将水动力分解为附加质量力以及流体阻尼力分量,并根据测得的水动力及柔性结构的动态特性对惯性系数 cm 及阻力系数 cd 随激励参数的变化情况进行求解。
在小摆幅的情况下,可以将MFC致动的柔性结构简化为具有两个不同截面的Euler-Bernoulli梁。柔性结构整体为矩形梁结构,尺寸参数如表1所示。
考虑到柔性结构周围水体载荷的影响,MFC致动的柔性结构的水下动力学方程可以表示为:

式中,K(x)和Z(x)分别表示x处截面的等效抗弯刚度和等效单位长度质量;u(x, t)表示结构在x截面的横向位移;cf表示柔性结构的阻尼系数;H(x, t)为单位长度上所受的水动力载荷;F(x, t)为MFC致动器产生的驱动力矩 [15]
在柔性结构振动波长远小于自身变形量时,可认为水下柔性结构的变形过程是局部平整的。基于这个假设,柔性结构在稳态振动时所受到的局部水动力载荷可用半经验Morison公式表示为:

从式(3)中可以看出,Morison公式中的流体阻尼项是二次非线性的,对于一个振荡周期内的流体阻尼项,可对其进行简化[17]。将式(3)代入式(2),等号两侧同时对x进行积分,可得MFC驱动的柔性结构整体所受到的水动力为:

MFC驱动的柔性结构在水下的受力情况如图1所示。在MFC的驱动作用下,柔性结构产生上下振荡,柔性结构周围的水体被排开,而周围水体在振荡方向的接触面上会产生水动力H(x, t),其方向为沿着柔性结构变形表面的法线方向。H(x, t)可以分解为两个相互垂直的分量:即沿着x方向的推进力HT(x, t),以及沿着y方向的侧向力HL(x, t)。
受到MFC驱动能力的限制,柔性结构的横向变形远小于其长度(u(x, t)<<la),从图1中可以看出,水动力的侧向力分量HL(x, t)明显远大于推力分量HT(x, t)。故H(x, t)可以近似表示为:

水动力是在MFC驱动的柔性结构的振荡过程中所产生的复合力,因此,测量柔性结构所受到的水动力是一项复杂的工作。本文所设计的悬臂式水动力测量机构的整体示意图如图2所示。水动力可以看作是通过夹具中心集中作用在测力梁构件上的一个力P,使得测力梁构件产生相应变形,同时由于水动力的分布效应,测力梁构件的z向轴线还会受到对应的力矩M
依据经典的 Euler-Bernoulli 梁理论,在水动力的作用下,测力梁构件自由端测量点V的变形可表示为:

在水动力的作用下,测力梁构件末端的变形位移为:

同时,由于水动力的分布效应,测力梁构件在测量时会发生扭转变形。受扭矩的影响,测力梁构件末端的扭转角度θ可以表示为:

式中,M表示矩形梁受到的扭矩;G表示悬臂梁的剪切模量;β 为一个常量,取决于悬臂梁的长宽比;Kδ表示测力梁构件的等效扭转刚度。
水动力应在测量机构的准静态区域内获得。因此,测力梁构件的固有频率应远高于MFC驱动的柔性结构的工作频率。测力梁构件的基本谐振频率 ftn可以通过以下特征函数求解:

式中,λn表示测力梁构件的基本特征频率;ρt表示梁构件密度;At表示悬臂梁的横截面面积。
为了满足高分辨率、高灵敏度和抗干扰的水动力采集要求,必须仔细确定测力梁构件的设计指标,包括弯曲刚度、扭转刚度和基本共振频率。综上考虑,选定铝合金6000T作为测力梁构件的材料,通过游标卡尺测量及查找相关文献,得到测力梁构件各项参数如表2所示。测力梁构件的一阶固有频率为 37.1 Hz,远高于MFC驱动的柔性结构在水下的工作频率。
测力系统的标定如图3所示,MFC驱动的柔性结构通过一个夹具连接到水平放置的测力梁构件的顶端。调整激光传感器的输出零点。随后,以100 mg标准砝码为增量置于夹具的中心位置来模拟水动力。然后用激光位移传感器测量悬臂梁所产生的偏转位移。
图4给出了测力梁构件的挠度和砝码重力之间的标定结果,其校准曲线在校准范围内呈线性。利用最小二乘法拟合的直线斜率为2351 mN/mm,略小于设计指标2373 mN/mm,这是由于测力梁构件实际尺寸存在些许偏差而导致的,由于标定过程中添置砝码时位置存在细微的偏差,因此实际曲线与拟合曲线不完全重合。可以看出,测力梁构件在220 mN以下呈现出良好的线性行为,所设计的测力梁构件与激光传感器组合的灵敏度足够对水动力进行测量。
同时,对测力梁构件进行了冲击锤测试,得到其动态响应曲线如图5所示[18]。实验结果表明,测力梁构件在空气中的一阶固有频率为36.2 Hz,由于MFC致动的柔性结构的水下工作频率一般低于5 Hz,远离测力梁的共振区。因此,MFC致动的柔性结构的工作频率在所设计的测力梁构件的准静态区域。
搭建MFC致动的柔性结构水动力测量机构如图6所示,驱动器放置于760 mm×460 mm×500 mm 的水箱中。测试过程中,PC 机发出的驱动信号经原型控制器(Speedgoat)的D/A模块转换为模拟电压信号,该电压信号通过功率放大器(Trek PZD700A)放大200倍后输出到MFC致动器上,从而驱动柔性结构产生振动。同时,利用水平放置在测力梁构件末端的激光位移传感器(KeyenceLK-G30,分辨率0.05 μm)实时获取测力梁构件的末端振动位移,利用激光位移传感器(KeyenceLK-G80,分辨率0.15 μm)实时获取柔性结构的末端振荡位移,信号经调理后通过网线传输到 PC ,整个测试系统通过 MATLAB/Simulink 软件平台完成。
首先,对MFC致动的柔性结构在空气中的振动响应进行测量,对MFC致动器施加正弦扫频信号(扫频周期为30 s,频率范围为0.1~25 Hz,峰峰值为600 V,采样频率为1000 Hz)。实验测得空气中柔性结构的响应曲线如图7所示,柔性结构在空气中的一阶固有频率约为23.7 Hz。
同样地,对MFC致动的柔性结构的水下振动响应进行测量,实验结果表明,由于水动力效应的影响,水下共振频率降低至3.1 Hz。
利用设计的测力机构对不同驱动频率下MFC致动的柔性结构所受到的水动力进行测量。测试过程中激励信号频率范围为2.5~4.0 Hz,频率间隔为 0.1 Hz,共进行了16组实验。图8(a)给出了柔性结构末端的振荡位移曲线,图8(b)给出了测力梁末端的振荡位移曲线。测量过程分为三个阶段,15 s输入电压为0 V的静止阶段,随后20 s输入电压峰峰值为600 V(激励频率为3.1 Hz,激励电压峰峰值为600 V)的驱动阶段,以及最后15 s输入电压为0 V的停止阶段。如图8所示,随着输入激励的停止,测力梁构件的动态变形和柔性结构的振荡迅速下降到零。
柔性结构在水下振荡的幅值及水动力大小随频率变化的趋势如图9所示。从图9中可以看出,柔性结构在水下的固有频率为3.1 Hz。在驱动频率为3.1 Hz时,柔性结构在水下振荡的位移幅值达到最大值4.23 mm;而当驱动频率从2.5 Hz增大至3.1 Hz时,柔性结构所受到的水动力随频率的增加迅速从86.16 mN增大至184.83 mN;但在频率超过固有频率3.1 Hz后,水动力的幅值整体变化幅度小于15%,趋于平稳。
图10(a)和(b)分别给出了振荡频率为3.1和4.0 Hz时,稳定阶段下测得的水动力以及MFC致动的柔性结构的末端振荡位移随时间的变化曲线。从图10中可以看出,在稳定振荡阶段,该结构所受到的水动力是与柔性结构振荡频率相同的周期性信号;振荡频率为3.1 Hz时,由于柔性结构摆幅较大,柔性结构受到的水动力非线性效应增强,其简谐性相对柔性结构的摆动位移存在一定的差异;由于MFC致动器自身的驱动能力及粘贴工艺限制,柔性结构的两侧摆幅存在一定的偏差,从而导致柔性结构在振荡时所受到的水动力两侧幅值存在微量的偏差。
为了近似获得水动力的稳态值,采用傅里叶级数对各个频率下稳定阶段测得的水动力进行拟合:

采用式(10)所示的5阶傅里叶级数对稳定阶段所测得的水动力进行拟合。表3给出了拟合得到的傅里叶系数。从表3中可以看出,在各频率下,一阶谐波系数a1b1显著大于n ≥ 2的高阶谐波系数,且高阶谐波系数的大小不超过一阶谐波的10%,故忽略高阶谐波分量,将MFC致动的柔性结构所受到的水动力看作与柔性结构同频振荡的正弦函数:

式中,H0 表示水动力载荷的幅值;ψ 表示MFC致动的柔性结构的振荡位移与水动力之间的相位差。
作用在柔性结构上的水动力可以分解为两项:与柔性结构振荡的加速度同相的附加质量分量以及与振荡的速度同相的流体阻尼分量。通过拟合得到的水动力幅值H0和相位角ψ,可以将两个分量提取出来。作用在水下柔性结构上的附加质量力Ham(t)和流体阻尼力Hhd(t)可以分别表示为:

图11给出了在水下振荡频率为3.1 Hz时稳定阶段MFC致动的柔性结构所受到的附加质量力、流体阻尼力以及振荡位移随时间变化的趋势。对比图11(a)和(b),附加质量力与流体阻尼力都与水动力同频变化,但附加质量力与柔性结构的振荡位移同步变化,而流体阻尼力相对于柔性结构的振荡位移滞后了π/2的相位;这种现象的产生是由于附加质量力是与振荡位移的加速度同相的分量,而流体阻尼力是与振荡位移的速度同相的分量。
结合式(12)及拟合得到的水动力表达式,可以将不同频率下柔性结构在水下受到的水动力分解为附加质量力和流体阻尼力,柔性结构在水下振荡时受到的附加质量力幅值随驱动频率变化的趋势如图12(a)所示;同样地,其所受到的流体阻尼力的幅值随频率变化的趋势如图12(b)所示。
图12中可以看出,随着频率的增加,附加质量力整体呈现出上升的趋势,而流体阻尼力在2.5~3.3 Hz时也随着柔性结构振荡频率的增加而增大,但在3.3 Hz后趋于平稳,并从3.8 Hz开始随着振荡频率的增大而减小,此时柔性结构的摆速随频率增大的变化幅度不超过2%。由式(2)可得,柔性结构在水下受到的流体阻尼项主要取决于柔性结构在水下振荡的速度,这也是导致流体阻尼力变小的主要因素。
结合式(4)和(11),可以得到惯性系数cm和阻力系数cd分别为:

对各个激励频率下MFC致动的柔性结构所对应的惯性系数cm和阻力系数cd进行求解,结果如表4所示。
本文建立了MFC致动的柔性结构的水下振动模型,分析了柔性结构在水下摆动时所受到的水动力,设计了一套基于悬臂梁及激光位移传感器的水动力测量系统,并给出了相应的设计指标及其计算方法;开展了对柔性结构在空气中以及水下的频率响应实验,利用所设计的水动力测量系统得到了柔性结构所受到的水动力,并将测得的水动力分解为附加质量力和流体阻尼力。实验结果表明:当水下柔性结构摆动频率从2.5 Hz增大到其水下固有频率3.1 Hz时,其所受水动力载荷幅值迅速增大;而当摆动频率继续增大到4.0 Hz时,其所受水动力载荷的变化显著减小;求解了对应频率下的附加质量系数和流体阻尼系数。本研究设计了一种水动力测量系统,从实验的角度对MFC致动的柔性结构的水动力进行了测量,对研究水下推进器的水下力学特性分析有一定的参考作用。
