The detection method of 210Po in the surface water around the decommissioned uranium mine was studied, and the activity level of 210Po in the surface water around the uranium mine was investigated. Using iron(III) hydroxide as the carrier, 210Po in the water sample was adsorbed and allowed to self-deposit on a copper plate in a hydrochloric acid-sodium chloride system, and then measured on an alpha spectrograph. The detection limit of the method is 0.001 Bq/L,the precision is better than 10%, and the recovery is between 93.4% and 106.6%. The results show that the activity concentration of 210Po in the surface water around the decommissioned uranium mine is between 0.001 and 0.223 Bq/L, indicating a certain level of pollution. There is a risk of transferring to humans through drinking water and food chain, resulting in an increase in internal exposure dose to residents. It is necessary to strengthen monitoring of surface water around the uranium mine and evaluation of public exposure.

研究并建立了退役铀矿山周边地表水中210Po的检测方法(铜片自沉积法),调查了铀矿山周边地表水中210Po的活度水平。铜片自沉积法以氢氧化铁为载体,吸附水样中的210Po,在盐酸-氯化钠体系中使210Po自沉积于铜片上,并在低本底α、β测量仪上测量,方法检出限0.001 Bq/L,精密度优于10%,加标回收率为93.4%~106.6%。研究结果表明,退役铀矿山周边地表水中210Po活度浓度为0.001~0.223 Bq/L,存在通过饮用水和食物链转移到人、致居民内照射剂量升高的风险,需加强对铀矿山周边地表水的监测和公众照射的评价。

研究并建立了退役铀矿山周边地表水中210Po的检测方法(铜片自沉积法),调查了铀矿山周边地表水中210Po的活度水平。铜片自沉积法以氢氧化铁为载体,吸附水样中的210Po,在盐酸-氯化钠体系中使210Po自沉积于铜片上,并在低本底α、β测量仪上测量,方法检出限0.001 Bq/L,精密度优于10%,加标回收率为93.4%~106.6%。研究结果表明,退役铀矿山周边地表水中210Po活度浓度为0.001~0.223 Bq/L,存在通过饮用水和食物链转移到人、致居民内照射剂量升高的风险,需加强对铀矿山周边地表水的监测和公众照射的评价。

The detection method of 210Po in the surface water around the decommissioned uranium mine was studied, and the activity level of 210Po in the surface water around the uranium mine was investigated. Using iron(III) hydroxide as the carrier, 210Po in the water sample was adsorbed and allowed to self-deposit on a copper plate in a hydrochloric acid-sodium chloride system, and then measured on an alpha spectrograph. The detection limit of the method is 0.001 Bq/L,the precision is better than 10%, and the recovery is between 93.4% and 106.6%. The results show that the activity concentration of 210Po in the surface water around the decommissioned uranium mine is between 0.001 and 0.223 Bq/L, indicating a certain level of pollution. There is a risk of transferring to humans through drinking water and food chain, resulting in an increase in internal exposure dose to residents. It is necessary to strengthen monitoring of surface water around the uranium mine and evaluation of public exposure.

退役铀矿山是指因资源枯竭或其他原因无法继续开采,经过一定清理、处理和修复工作后,停止生产并退役的矿山[1]。在铀矿山退役过程中,应对周边地表水进行监测,210Po是重要的监测因子之一。210Po可通过饮用水和食物链进入人体,造成居民内照射剂量升高[2]。应加强对退役铀矿山周边地表水中210Po的监测,评估其对环境和人类健康的潜在威胁[3]
210Po具有α放射性,半衰期为138.4 d,是所有天然钋同位素中半衰期最长的;其主要来源于铀系天然放射性核素,广泛存在于自然界中[4]。有研究表明,210Po可通过大气循环和水循环进入食物链,最终在人体内累积,210Po在个人有效剂量中占比达80%[5]。铀矿山辐射环境监测需要每季度进行,地表水中210Po是其中一项重要的监测指标。当前,对铀矿山周边地表水分析主要依据《水中钋-210的分析方法》(HJ 813—2016)[6],该标准的操作要点不详细、回收率不高、检测成本偏高,在每个地表水样品中均需添加示踪剂,并用银箔作制源材料。因铀矿山周边地表水监测频次高,样品量大,导致示踪剂和银箔消耗量大,不利于控制实验室检测成本。
因此,以某铀矿山作为调查研究对象,采集周边地表水,在《水中钋-210的分析方法》基础上,优化试验条件,以期提高检测速度和准确度,降低检测成本。
南方某铀矿山2016年正式进入退役程序,矿山半径20 km内为辐射环境影响评价范围[7]。该范围涉及多个乡镇,丘陵林立,地表水系发达,有数条河流,1个水库;该河流和水库是居民饮用水水源和农业灌溉水来源。
2022年分4个季度在评价范围内采集地表水样。根据工业活动、地形环境、河流流向、居民点分布情况等设置取样点[8]。选取了矿井水排放口、废水排放口、尾矿库排放口、河流上下游,村镇地表水、水库等典型位置(图1),在无雨天用塑料采样桶采集10 L水样,按1%的加入量添加硝酸,全年共采集地表水样56个,采集过程严格遵守相关技术规范[9]
主要仪器:MPC9604型流气式低本底α、β测量仪,美国ORTEC公司;水浴恒温振荡器,常州金坛良友仪器有限公司;可控温电炉,上海上仪有限公司;烘箱,北京永光明有限公司。
试剂:盐酸、三氯化铁、乙醇,分析纯,株洲星空化玻有限公司;高锰酸钾,分析纯,赛默飞有限公司;氨水、氯化钠,分析纯,国药集团化学试剂有限公司;抗坏血酸,分析纯,青岛青药生物有限公司。精密pH试纸;210Po标准溶液,100 Bq/L,中国计量科学研究院;圆形铜片(直径20 mm,厚度0.15 mm,纯度>95%,一面覆盖耐热环氧涂料,一面用600目以上砂纸打磨光亮,在0.5 mol/L盐酸溶液浸泡10 min后取出,超纯水冲洗干净后使用)。
用玻璃烧杯取5 L澄清水样,用盐酸调节至pH<2,边搅拌边滴加2~3滴2%的高锰酸钾溶液至溶液呈淡紫色,观察10 min,如褪色须补加高锰酸钾溶液;加入5 mL配制好的三氯化铁溶液(20 mgFe/mL,0.1 mol/L盐酸体系),用玻璃棒搅拌均匀,边搅拌边滴加浓氨水,用精密pH试纸测量,直至pH=9.0~9.2,继续搅拌5 min后静置;如有氢氧化铁悬液上浮,可继续搅拌使其下沉,静置4 h以上再处理。
静置后,虹吸上层清液,虹吸时保持吸管和氢氧化铁沉淀有足够的距离以避免扰动沉淀。将烧杯中剩余的物质用滤纸过滤,并用超纯水冲洗烧杯数次、过滤,过滤后弃去滤液。用10%的温热盐酸溶解滤纸上的氢氧化铁沉淀和烧杯壁上的残留沉淀,并用超纯水冲洗滤纸,直至无明显黄色液体,溶液均收集于100 mL锥形瓶中。
将收集的溶液用低温电炉加热,蒸干至无蒸汽冒出时取下锥形瓶,加入30 mL混合溶液(0.5 mol/L盐酸+3.5 mol/L氯化钠),轻轻摇晃锥形瓶至残渣完全溶解。然后加入一定量的抗坏血酸至溶液褪色后,再补加0.5 g抗坏血酸。将铜片缠绕在细导线一端,另一端挂于锥形瓶口,以保证铜片始终悬浮于溶液中央,与溶液充分接触。锥形瓶放入预热到90 ℃的恒温水浴摇床中,设置转速120 r/min,自沉积100 min后取出铜片[10],先用超纯水冲洗,再用无水乙醇冲洗,然后放入烘箱在80 ℃[11]下烘干1 h。烘干的铜片放置在样品盘中央,用低本底α、β测量仪测量24 h,记录α计数。根据α计数计算210Po的活度浓度。
水样中210Po的活度浓度计算公式[12]

式中:C—水样中210Po的活度浓度,Bq/L;K—校正因子,无量纲;N—样品源α计数率,1/s;Nb—空白铜片α计数率,1/s;λ—210Po衰变常数,1/s;t—自沉积中间时刻至测量中间时刻间隔,s;V—样品体积,L。
水样中210Po的方法检出限计算公式[13]

式中:MDL—水样中210Po方法检出限,Bq/L;Nb—空白铜片α计数率,1/s;Tb—空白铜片α计数时间,s;λ—210Po的衰变常数,1/s;t—自沉积中间时刻至测量中间时刻间隔,s;V—样品体积,L;K—校正因子,无量纲。在NbTb、λ、tVK分别取0.001 7 1/s、36 000 s、5.80×10-8 1/s、54 000 s、5 L、3.53的情况下,210Po的方法检出限为0.001 Bq/L。
对采集回的地表水样品进行了分析,结果见表1。可以看出,该退役铀矿山周边地表水中210Po活度浓度在0.001~0.223 Bq/L之间:1#矿井水排放口210Po的活度浓度最高,平均值为0.187 Bq/L;废水排放口次之,平均值为0.116 Bq/L;周边河流和居民用水等地表水样的210Po活度浓度较低。
根据表1的测量结果,得到该退役铀矿山周边地表水中210Po的分布趋势图(图2)。可以看出,210Po活度浓度分布趋势明显,从矿井排放口到村民水井依次降低。矿井内有大量的放射性核素,其中的铀系子体包含210Po。尽管矿井的排放水是经过处理的,但仍携带一定量的210Po。尾矿库排放口的210Po活度浓度比矿井排放口要低,但比周边河流、池塘、灌溉水渠和居民用水高。矿山废水排放口还含有一定量的210Po,与矿井水排放口和尾矿库排放口共同汇集到了周边地表水中。排放口下游210Po活度浓度明显比上游210Po活度浓度高,说明排放废水对河流下游有一定影响;但南方雨水充沛,河水可以起到一定的稀释作用,远大于5倍稀释倍数的要求。铀矿山处理后的排出水中210Po的限值为0.5 Bq/L[14],该铀矿山中矿井水、废水和尾矿库均未超标。
与对照点相比,该退役铀矿山周边地表水中的210Po活度浓度明显更高,尽管还在可接受范围内,也应做好监测,谨防210Po浓度异常升高。居民水井的210Po活度浓度与对照点水平相当,接近方法探测下限,说明居民水井没有受到矿山的影响。
矿井水、废水、尾矿库排放水、河水、水库水、池塘水、井水的样品全程加标回收率测量结果见表2。本方法在测量退役铀矿山地表水中210Po的全程加标回收率在93.4%~106.6%之间。
选取了矿井水、废水、尾矿库水、河水、池塘水等几处有明显浓度差异的样品,进行了平行双样(a和b)的测量,结果见表3。可以看出,210Po的平行双样测定结果相对偏差小于10%,表明该方法用于测量退役铀矿山地周边表水中210Po的精密度良好。
退役铀矿山周边村民水井中210Po的活度浓度为0.001 Bq/L(表1),与对照点相当,属于天然辐射本底剂量水平。水中210Po所致的待积有效剂量估算公式为[15]

式中:E—水中210Po所致待积有效剂量,Sv;e—食入210Po单位摄入量后的待积有效剂量,Sv/Bq;I210Po的摄入量,Bq。
一个成年人(>17岁)每天食入饮用水约为1.5 L,e取1.2×10-6 Sv/Bq,据此估算周边村民1年(365 d)食入210Po所致的待积有效剂量为0.55 μSv,远远低于1 mSv的公众照射限值,因此认为不会对周围村民的健康造成影响。
铜片自沉积法是一种高效检测水中210Po的分析方法,适用于退役铀矿山周边地表水中210Po的检测。与《水中钋-210的分析方法》相比,该法使用铜片和标准溶液代替银箔和示踪剂,当退役铀矿山监测周期长、检测样品量大时,测定快速准确、分析成本低;该法用氢氧化铁载带水中的210Po,用铜片自沉积制源,用低本底α、β测量仪测量,加标回收率在93.4%~106.6%之间,精密度优于10%,方法检出限为0.001 Bq/L。
用该法对某退役铀矿山周围地表水中210Po进行的检测表明,210Po对周围水系影响保持在较低水平,居民饮用水未出现污染情况,但不应放松对周边地表水的监测。
