In the paper, it is introduced the successful application of ABB medium voltage frequency converter (ACS6000) in Rail and Beam Plant of Baotou Steel, and the main power module unit of ACS6000 SD system is described in detail. Combined with ACS6000 SD medium voltage frequency converter in speed regulation drive control of synchronous motor in large H-beam line finishing mill, the application characteristics of ACS6000 medium voltage frequency converter and direct torque control and other advanced technologies in synchronous motor are described.
