In the paper, the dynamic precise control of angle and tension at tail end is realized through innovating control program of looper and developing function module of stepwise deceleration for rolling mill at tail end of strip aiming at such industry challenges as back end whip, breakage due to rolling and equipment damage caused by tension fluctuation at tail end of strip in the production of hot continuous rolled low alloy high strength thin strip. With the adjustment mechanism of matching parameters based on specifications, tension at tail end of strip could be automatically adjusted as needed so as to avoid the drawback of frequent adjustment for traditional manual intervention. The industrial applications show that the times of unplanned roll change caused by accidents of back end whip and breakage due to rolling each month are significantly reduced as well as expected annual loss is reduced by CNY 3 million Yuan with the technology, which could provide a new path for stable rolling of thin strip.
