The alkaline oxide pellet used for blast furnace ironmaking production in Baotou Steel is prepared with self-produced iron ore concentrate of Bayan Obo and part of Inner Mongolia magnetite concentrate by process of traveling grate-rotary kiln-rotating annular cooler. In the initial stage of industrial production of alkaline oxide pellet, the compactness of green pellet is poor, proportion of binder is high, compressive strength of finished pellet is low, amount of powder in process system is great and hot pellet is frequently discharged from rotating annular cooler so that on-site production is affected. In order to solve the above practical problems in pellet production, the performances of raw materials used in pellet production are optimized to improve compressive strength of alkaline oxide pellet. The specific surface area of raw materials used in pellet production is increased, compressive strength of alkaline oxide pellet is improved from 2 098 N to 2 358 N, amount of powder in process system is significantly reduced and the phenomenon of hot pellet discharged from rotating annular cooler is significantly reduced by processing the ore used for production of alkaline oxide pellet with the process of high-pressure roller grinding.
