In this paper, the practice on reducing cost of pig iron for 4 150 m³ blast furnace of Baotou Steel is summarized. The main technological and economic indicators of blast furnace are improved as well as the cost of pig iron is reduced by such measures as strengthening the management of raw fuel into furnace, improving the level of blast furnace operation, maintaining the furnace condition stable and trouble-free, strengthening cost management and other management levels as well as optimizing manufacturing technique. The cost of pig iron in the first half year of 2019 was reduced by RMB 88.1 Yuan per ton of iron compared with that of the corresponding period of 2018.
