Based on the experiment of adding rare earth into interstitial free(IF) steel of Baotou Steel, the changes of cleanliness of IF liquid steel were studied. The results showed that no rare earth oxides were found in the slag when steel ladle left RH. CeO and Ce₂O₃ were found in the slag during casting as well as the valence states were + 2 and + 3. The effects on oxidability and Ca-Al rate in slag were not great with and without adding rare earth. The content of TFe in tundish is about 5% and CaO/Al₂O₃ is stabilized at about 1.3. The size of Al₂O₃ along the thickness direction of casting blank for the heats without adding rare earth is larger and increases from inner and outer arc to the center of casting blank as well as it decreases and the quantity of Al₂O₃ increases after add rare earth.

通过在包钢IF钢的基础上进行加稀土试验，研究了稀土对IF钢液洁净度变化，得出RH出站时渣中未发现稀土氧化物，在浇铸过程中发现渣中含有CeO和Ce₂O₃，存在的价态为+2、+3价；加稀土与未加稀土时，对渣中氧化性以及钙铝比的影响不大，中间包TFe含量基本上在5%左右，CaO/Al₂O₃均稳定在1.3左右；未加稀土炉次中铸坯厚度方向Al₂O₃尺寸较大，内外弧到铸坯中心增大，稀土加入之后铸坯中Al₂O₃尺寸降低，Al₂O₃数量增加。
