The effects of different normalizing temperature and holding time on the microstructure of Q345E with 65 mm thickness have been studied by optical microscope. The results show that: Compared with the controlled rolling and controlled cooling (TMCP) steel plates, steels normalized at 900 degrees, grains are fine and the whole cross-sections are the most homogeneous. With the prolonging of holding time, ferrite grain growth is not obvious but pearlite content decreases, having spheroidization trend.
