Chaos-based communication technology has emerged as a research hotspot in recent years due to its superior resistance to multipath fading and robust security features. Differential Chaos Shift Keying (DCSK), as a non-coherent digital modulation scheme, has attracted widespread attention. However, in practical communication scenarios, the increasing demand for reliable data transmission has revealed the limitations of traditional DCSK systems, such as low transmission rates and high Bit Error Ratios (BER), highlighting the urgent need to enhance system reliability. Considering the significant advantages of polar codes, including low complexity and near-capacity performance, this paper delves into the integration of polar coding algorithms with chaos modulation techniques based on channel polarization principles, aiming to further improve the reliability of chaos-based communication systems. Experiment results show that the proposed solution significantly improves the reliability of chaos-based communication systems and keeps its feature of low complexity.

混沌通信技术因抗多径衰落和保密特性,近年逐渐成为研究热点。其中,差分混沌移位键控(Differential Chaos Shift Keying,DCSK)作为一种非相干数字调制方案,适用于复杂多变的低成本通信场景。然而,随着数据传输可靠性需求的不断提高,传统DCSK系统面临传输速率较低和误码率(Bit Error Ratios,BER)较高的问题。鉴于极化码接近信道容量方面的性能优势,结合混沌调制技术和信道极化原理,研究基于极化编译码算法的DCSK通信系统。实验结果表明,所提方案极大地提升了混沌通信系统的可靠性,同时保持了低复杂度特性。

混沌通信技术因抗多径衰落和保密特性,近年逐渐成为研究热点。其中,差分混沌移位键控(Differential Chaos Shift Keying,DCSK)作为一种非相干数字调制方案,适用于复杂多变的低成本通信场景。然而,随着数据传输可靠性需求的不断提高,传统DCSK系统面临传输速率较低和误码率(Bit Error Ratios,BER)较高的问题。鉴于极化码接近信道容量方面的性能优势,结合混沌调制技术和信道极化原理,研究基于极化编译码算法的DCSK通信系统。实验结果表明,所提方案极大地提升了混沌通信系统的可靠性,同时保持了低复杂度特性。

Chaos-based communication technology has emerged as a research hotspot in recent years due to its superior resistance to multipath fading and robust security features. Differential Chaos Shift Keying (DCSK), as a non-coherent digital modulation scheme, has attracted widespread attention. However, in practical communication scenarios, the increasing demand for reliable data transmission has revealed the limitations of traditional DCSK systems, such as low transmission rates and high Bit Error Ratios (BER), highlighting the urgent need to enhance system reliability. Considering the significant advantages of polar codes, including low complexity and near-capacity performance, this paper delves into the integration of polar coding algorithms with chaos modulation techniques based on channel polarization principles, aiming to further improve the reliability of chaos-based communication systems. Experiment results show that the proposed solution significantly improves the reliability of chaos-based communication systems and keeps its feature of low complexity.

混沌通信是一种利用混沌信号进行信息传输的技术,依赖于混沌系统的复杂动态特性,如敏感依赖初始条件和非周期性等。通过将信息嵌入到混沌信号中,可以在通信中实现高效的加密与抗干扰。混沌信号在传输过程中表现出类似随机噪声的特性,令窃听者难以解码或分析信号,从而大大地提高了通信的安全性[1]。与传统的调制和扩频技术相比,混沌通信具有更强的保密性、抗干扰性以及更好的频谱利用率。该技术广泛应用于保密通信、卫星通信、无线网络等领域,成为现代通信系统中重要的研究方向之一[2]
1992年,Parlitz等[3]首次提出了数字混沌调制的概念。在此之后,大量的研究工作致力于研究新的混沌调制方案,以实现优异的纠错性能和较低的实现复杂度。1993年,Dedieu等[4]提出了利用混沌信号作为载波传输信息的思想,设计了一种混沌移位键控(Chaos Shift Keying,CSK)系统。作为一种相干传输方案,CSK系统的性能高度依赖于接收端混沌信号的同步质量。针对这一问题,许多学者投入了大量精力研究混沌同步的理论与实现方法。然而,从严格意义上来说,完美的混沌同步难以实现,这在很大程度上限制了相干混沌通信系统的实际应用与发展。
为了有效规避相干混沌通信过程中所产生的混沌同步难题,Kolumbán等[5]提出了一种非相干接收机系统,称为DCSK系统。该系统的接收端不依赖混沌同步再现发送端的混沌序列,仅需进行帧或符号率采样即可实现信息的解调。相较于CSK,DCSK接收机只需要一个自相干解调器,即差分相干解调器,显著降低了系统的实现复杂度。
为了提高DCSK通信系统的可靠性,通常采取在混沌调制前对发送信号进行信道编码的方法[6]。在现代无线通信系统中,常用的信道编码方案有2种:低密度奇偶校验(Low Density Parity Check,LDPC)码和极化码(Polar Code)。本文主要研究后者,即极化码与DCSK通信系统的结合。极化码的概念在2006年由Arikan[7]率先提出。基于信道极化原理,极化码的编码过程将待传输的比特序列按位作为传输比特的子信道,并极化成可靠的信息位集合和不可靠的冻结位集合。其中信息位用于传输有效信息,而冻结位用于携带固定比特以辅助信息位的译码[8]。Arikan通过数学方法严格证明了这种编码方案在码长接近无穷大时能够达到二进制离散无记忆信道(Binary-Discrete Memoryless Channel,BDMC)的对称信道容量极限;同时提出了串行消除(Successive Cancellation,SC)算法对极化码进行顺序译码。SC算法具有低复杂度且原理简单的特点,易于软件实现。然而在SC算法的译码过程中,比特间的译码结果存在依赖关系,因此容易出现连续差错的情况,故在码长较短时性能一般;且串行译码方式有着较高的延时,不利于硬件实现。为了提高译码的并行性,极化码的置信传播(Belief Propagation,BP)译码方案被提出,成功解决了上述问题[9]。BP译码最早应用于LDPC码的迭代译码,由于极化码的因子图和LDPC的Tanner图相似,因此也可应用于极化码[10-11],使用左、右2种软信息矩阵在因子图的列层级之间交替、并行地传递译码信息。
到目前为止,很少有研究关注将混沌调制与极化码相结合以提高BER性能。本文基于多径衰落信道,研究该场景下极化码编码的差分混沌移位键控调制(Polar Coded-DCSK,PC-DCSK)通信系统,并通过仿真结果证明本文提出的PC-DCSK方案能够有效提升DCSK通信系统在多径衰落信道下的可靠性。
PC-DCSK系统模型框架如图1所示。在DCSK发射机中,系统利用开关将整个周期一分为二。在前半个时隙中,混沌信号发生器产生的长度为β的混沌信号x作为参考信号进行传输。对于要传输的第i个比特信息ci,在后半个时隙中,x经过延迟器后和ci相乘得到信息信号mi进行传输。由此可见,一个时隙内的DCSK发送信号是由2个部分相同长度的信号ximi组成。特别地,在PC-DCSK中,ci为极化码编码器输出的二进制极化码码字。其中,mi的取值取决于信息比特的极性。例如,当发送的信息比特ci=1时,mi=xi;反之,当发送的信息比特ci=-1时,mi=-xi。因此,在接收端不需要重新生成混沌序列,可以有效地避免混沌同步问题[12]
以双极性的二进制信息比特ci={+1,-1}为例,在第i比特时间内,DCSK发射机生成的传输信号表达式为:
式中:ci为第i个要传输的比特信息,β为每个时隙内传输混沌序列x包含的样本数,即混沌序列的长度,DCSK符号一帧的长度为2βxk为信号x的第k个样本数。
DCSK在解调信息信号时,采用非相干接收解调的方式。DCSK接收机将接收信号rk与自身延时β后的信号rk-β进行相关运算,表示为:
将相关后的输出信号与门限值(通常为零)进行比较即可恢复出发送端的信息比特。如式(3)所示:
在PC-DCSK系统中,上述判决步骤可以省略,因为相关运算的结果可以转换为软信息值输入到极化码的译码器中,通过译码器得到信息比特。值得注意的是,由于DCSK使用差分编码,因此需与极化码的比特映射对齐,以确保解调软信息符号与编码器定义匹配。
本文仿真采用的Nakagami信道是无线通信中用于描述信号衰落的一种统计模型,广泛用于分析无线信号在传播过程中受到多径效应、阴影效应等影响的情况[13]。Nakagami-m分布是一种广义的概率分布,用于描述接收信号包络的统计特性。其概率密度函数(Probability Density Function,PDF)表示为:
式中:m为Nakagami因子,决定信号的衰落程度,通常取值m≥0.5;r为信号包络,Ω为平均功率,定义为E[r2],E为期望函数,通常归一化为1以简化分析;Γ(m)为伽马函数,定义为Γ(m)=。由此可见,Nakagami信道能够通过灵活地调整参数mΩ建模各种无线信道环境,例如瑞利信道和莱斯信道。
在极化码的原理中,信道极化现象是指通过信道组合和信道分裂2个步骤,将N=2n个独立的原始信道Wx|y)递归地划分为多个具有不同信道容量的子信道后,这些子信道的容量逐渐呈现两极分化的趋势,即:一部分子信道的容量逐渐增大,趋近于1,成为接近无噪声的完美信道;而另一部分子信道的容量则逐渐减小,趋近于0,成为纯噪声信道。
信道组合是指多次复用原始信道Wx|y)以得到一个组合信道:
式中:GN为生成矩阵,描述了极化码的编码过程,可由核矩阵的n次克罗内克积得到。核矩阵F定义为:
码长为N的极化码可以通过矩阵乘法实现,这一过程体现了比特间的线性变换:
信道分裂是信道合并的“逆过程”。在完成信道组合之后,信道分裂紧接着将组合信道WN|)分裂成N个具有不同转移概率(信道容量)的子信道,以区分子信道的“好坏”程度,这一过程表示为:
然而在实际应用中,精确计算子信道的转移概率难以实现。目前有多种性能优异的极化码构造算法,例如采用巴氏参数构造[7]、高斯近似构造[14]和极化权重方法[15]都被用来评估这些子信道的可靠性。而在复杂信道环境中,基于统计学的蒙特卡罗构造具有更优异的性能[16]。通过构造算法的排序,这些子信道中较为可靠的部分被划分为信息位A以携带信息比特,而其余相对不可靠的冻结位Ac携带固定的冻结比特,以抵抗传输过程中出现的噪声干扰。
极化码最经典的SC算法由Arikan提出,是一种逐次判决的译码方法,按照编码序列的顺序依次判决每个信息位或冻结位。在译码过程中,当前信息位索引上的译码结果由接收序列和先前的译码输出序列(,…,)共同作用得到。冻结位上的译码结果则固定判决为0。
SC译码器所需的的输入为信道输出的对数似然比(Log-Likelihood Ratio,LLR),定义为:
对于译码器的输入,由于其是经过DCSK解调的,通过对比LLR的定义和式(3)可知,LLR与相关器的输出zk相差负号:
文中所有公式在得到输入LLR后,SC译码器根据子信道的奇数索引和偶数索引,以分层递归的方式更新LLR值:

在获得编码一侧比特的LLR值后,SC译码器进行硬判决。如果的下标属于冻结位集合Ac,则直接判定为0。否则,根据LLR值进行判决:
另一种常见的译码算法为BP算法。引入该算法是为了解决SC的串行译码延时和比特间差错传播现象[17]。BP译码基于极化码因子图实现。因子图是一种用于表示极化码编码和译码过程的可视化图形,主要用于描述极化码的递归结构,在BP译码算法中具有重要应用[18]
图2给出一个N=8的极化码的因子图示例。BP译码器将因子图上的每个节点视作矩阵中的一个元素,构建了N行,n+1列的左信息矩阵L以及右信息矩阵R。左信息和右信息为迭代过程中的软信息变量,分别存储在这2个矩阵当中。在每次迭代时,左信息矩阵L先从左到右更新其矩阵中的每列的左信息值,然后右信息矩阵R再从右到左更新其矩阵中的每列右信息值。由于比特之间的软信息更新是同时的,削弱了译码比特序列之间的相关性,从而降低了差错传播的影响。
在开始译码之前,BP译码器的初始化过程将信道输出的N个LLR值赋值给L矩阵的第n+1列的所有元素。R矩阵的第1列元素根据所在行的下标分别属于信息位或冻结位,被对应地初始化为0和∞。设Li,jRi,j分别为L矩阵和R矩阵中第i行、第j列的元素。在迭代过程中,矩阵中的每个元素按照如下的规则进行软信息更新[19]:

fab)为近似式,其中参数α通常取0.937 5以达到最佳近似。为了加快BP译码器的收敛速度,通常使用基于循环冗余校验(Cyclic Redundancy Check,CRC)的迭代终止方案。在发送码字中生成并嵌入CRC校验比特后,每次迭代结束时校验等式Hcrc=0是否成立,若成立则终止译码。
本节选择在2径Nakagami衰落信道下,通过极化权重算法对码长N为256、512的极化码进行构造。为了评估PC-DCSK系统的性能,通过与未采用信道编码的DCSK系统进行比较,验证了所提方案有效性和可靠性。其中,极化码的BP译码选择使用16位的CRC校验作为迭代终止条件,SCL和BPL列表大小均为L=8,其余的仿真参数如表1所示。此外,还研究了DCSK不同扩频长度β对PCDCSK系统性能的影响。
图3图4展示了Nakagami衰落信道中,不同码长的PC-DCSK和DCSK系统的BER曲线。可以看出,采用编码的PC-DCSK相较于未采用编码的DCSK有着显著的性能提升,当BER=10-2时取得了至少6 dB的信噪比增益。码长越大,PC-DCSK的性能越好。码长N=256的PC-DCSK在Eb/N0=18 dB时所有译码算法的BER接近零;而码长N=128的PC-DCSK则需在Eb/N0=19 dB时才能达到这一效果。
此外,PC-DCSK采用极化码SC译码与BP译码的BER曲线在相同信道中表现出了不同的纠错能力。BP译码以更高的复杂度为代价,降低了差错传播的影响,相比SC译码具有更加优异的纠错性能。在码长N=128且BER=1×10-3时,BP译码优于SC译码的信噪比增益0.35 dB。当码长N=256时,这一优势扩大至0.5 dB。
将上述译码方案扩展到SCL列表译码,此时与非列表译码算法的情况相反。在2种码长下,BER=10-4时,得益于更复杂的路径度量计算和剪枝方案,在相同列表长度下SCL译码的性能均优于BPL译码0.2 dB。
为了研究DCSK的扩频长度β对系统性能的影响,对码长N=256的DCSK系统,分别采用β=6、β=12进行DCSK调制,并与极化码进行结合。仿真结果如图5所示。
图5可以看出,PC-DCSK相同译码算法的BER性能随着β的减小而变差。具体地,在BER=1×10-3时,β=6的SC、BP译码相比β=12时性能分别下降了1.0、0.9 dB。这是因为,在多径干扰信道下,随着扩频长度β增加,更长的混沌序列意味着每个比特被更多的混沌样本承载,使得能量分散到更宽的带宽中,从而获得扩频增益。因此较大的β可以更好地抵抗多径效应导致的性能损失。
本文研究了PC-DCSK系统在多径衰落信道中的BER性能,阐述了DCSK调制和解调的实现方式以及极化码的信道极化基本原理,介绍了极化码的2种经典译码算法:SC和BP译码。在Nakagami衰落信道环境中进行了仿真,展示了PC-DCSK系统相较于DCSK系统的信道编码增益。结果表明,引入极化码编码显著提升了DCSK通信的可靠性。此外,不同译码方法表现出了不同的性能。仿真结果进一步说明,采用BP译码的PC-DCSK方案相比采用SC译码具有更高的可靠性。改用列表译码时,采用SCL译码的PC-DCSK方案相比BPL译码性能更加优异。本文研究了DCSK不同扩频长度β对PC-DCSK系统的性能影响。仿真结果表明,在多径干扰信道下,结合极化码,较大的扩频长度可以显著提升系统译码性能。
