Biomass-derived porous carbon has drawn extensive attention in the microwave absorbing materials (MAMs) due to the advantages of extensive sources, low-cost, sustainability and tailorable structure. Aimtolight-weight biomass-derived MAMs with high attenuation capacity over wide frequency range, longan shell-based porous carbon material (LSPC) was prepared by activated carbonization by using different activators, namely phosphoric acid (H3PO4), potassium hydroxide (KOH) and zinc chloride (ZnCl2). Influence of activation on the microstructure, morphology and microwave absorbing performance of resulted porous carbon materials were systematically investigated by applying X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopyvector network analyzer. Results indicate that activation induced more amorphous regions and defects, thus forming more heterogeneous interface and polarization centers conducing to the dielectric loss. Compared with LSPC with thick and smooth skeletons, activated LSPC materials showed hierarchical structures with different scale pores. While LSPC-H3PO4 exhibited thinner wall of pores and LSPC-ZnCl2 showed smaller pores on the skeleton, LSPC-KOH depicted vertebra-like hierarchical structure. Activation improved the microwave absorbing performance, and LSPC-KOH showed the best microwave capacity, with minimum reflection loss of -43.57 dB, which was 2.03 times and 3.02 times higher than that of LSPC-H3PO4 and LSPC-ZnCl2, respectively. Moreover, activation broadened the effective absorption bandwidth of LSPC to varying degrees. Analysis of structure-associated electromagnetic loss behavior implies that hierarchical structure, dipolar/interfacial polarization and multiple reflection greatly contribute to the balanced impedance matching and attenuation capacity, thus improving the microwave absorption performance of activated LSPC materials.

生物质材料是一种来源丰富、廉价易得的可再生资源,通过在生物质材料中构筑多层级结构制备生物质碳材料是目前吸波材料领域研究的热点。为制备轻质、宽频、高效的生物碳基吸波材料,以龙眼壳为原料,通过活化碳化的方式制备龙眼壳多孔碳材料(LSPC),通过X-射线衍射、拉曼光谱、扫描电镜等表征多孔碳材料的微观结构,并采用矢量网络分析仪对其吸波性能进行分析,考察了磷酸(H3PO4)、氢氧化钾(KOH)和氧化锌(ZnCl2)对龙眼壳多孔碳材料结构和吸波性能的影响。结果表明:活化使得龙眼壳多孔碳结晶度下降、缺陷增多,形成了较多的异质界面和活化中心,增强了材料的极化损耗。与未活化的龙眼壳多孔碳相比,H3PO4活化处理使得多孔碳材料的孔壁变薄、孔结构更为明显;KOH活化多孔碳材料不仅保留了龙眼壳连续的孔结构,而且孔壁出现了类似脊椎的波浪起伏结构;ZnCl2活化制得的龙眼壳多孔碳材料仅在原有的光滑截面形成许多小孔;综合分析表明,活化处理改善了龙眼壳多孔碳材料的吸波性能,其中以氢氧化钾活化制备的龙眼壳多孔碳材料吸波性能最佳,其反射损耗达到-43.57 dB,分别是LSPC-H3PO4的2.03倍和LSPC-ZnCl2的3.02倍;活化处理不同程度地改善了龙眼壳多孔碳材料的有效吸收带宽。对微观形貌关联的电磁损耗行为分析表明,活化促进了龙眼壳多孔碳材料中多层级孔结构的生成,有效降低了龙眼壳多孔碳材料的有效介电常数,改善了材料的阻抗匹配;同时,龙眼壳多孔碳材料可通过传导损耗、偶极极化、界面极化、多重反射等多重损耗机制衰减电磁波。

生物质材料是一种来源丰富、廉价易得的可再生资源,通过在生物质材料中构筑多层级结构制备生物质碳材料是目前吸波材料领域研究的热点。为制备轻质、宽频、高效的生物碳基吸波材料,以龙眼壳为原料,通过活化碳化的方式制备龙眼壳多孔碳材料(LSPC),通过X-射线衍射、拉曼光谱、扫描电镜等表征多孔碳材料的微观结构,并采用矢量网络分析仪对其吸波性能进行分析,考察了磷酸(H3PO4)、氢氧化钾(KOH)和氧化锌(ZnCl2)对龙眼壳多孔碳材料结构和吸波性能的影响。结果表明:活化使得龙眼壳多孔碳结晶度下降、缺陷增多,形成了较多的异质界面和活化中心,增强了材料的极化损耗。与未活化的龙眼壳多孔碳相比,H3PO4活化处理使得多孔碳材料的孔壁变薄、孔结构更为明显;KOH活化多孔碳材料不仅保留了龙眼壳连续的孔结构,而且孔壁出现了类似脊椎的波浪起伏结构;ZnCl2活化制得的龙眼壳多孔碳材料仅在原有的光滑截面形成许多小孔;综合分析表明,活化处理改善了龙眼壳多孔碳材料的吸波性能,其中以氢氧化钾活化制备的龙眼壳多孔碳材料吸波性能最佳,其反射损耗达到-43.57 dB,分别是LSPC-H3PO4的2.03倍和LSPC-ZnCl2的3.02倍;活化处理不同程度地改善了龙眼壳多孔碳材料的有效吸收带宽。对微观形貌关联的电磁损耗行为分析表明,活化促进了龙眼壳多孔碳材料中多层级孔结构的生成,有效降低了龙眼壳多孔碳材料的有效介电常数,改善了材料的阻抗匹配;同时,龙眼壳多孔碳材料可通过传导损耗、偶极极化、界面极化、多重反射等多重损耗机制衰减电磁波。

Biomass-derived porous carbon has drawn extensive attention in the microwave absorbing materials (MAMs) due to the advantages of extensive sources, low-cost, sustainability and tailorable structure. Aimtolight-weight biomass-derived MAMs with high attenuation capacity over wide frequency range, longan shell-based porous carbon material (LSPC) was prepared by activated carbonization by using different activators, namely phosphoric acid (H3PO4), potassium hydroxide (KOH) and zinc chloride (ZnCl2). Influence of activation on the microstructure, morphology and microwave absorbing performance of resulted porous carbon materials were systematically investigated by applying X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopyvector network analyzer. Results indicate that activation induced more amorphous regions and defects, thus forming more heterogeneous interface and polarization centers conducing to the dielectric loss. Compared with LSPC with thick and smooth skeletons, activated LSPC materials showed hierarchical structures with different scale pores. While LSPC-H3PO4 exhibited thinner wall of pores and LSPC-ZnCl2 showed smaller pores on the skeleton, LSPC-KOH depicted vertebra-like hierarchical structure. Activation improved the microwave absorbing performance, and LSPC-KOH showed the best microwave capacity, with minimum reflection loss of -43.57 dB, which was 2.03 times and 3.02 times higher than that of LSPC-H3PO4 and LSPC-ZnCl2, respectively. Moreover, activation broadened the effective absorption bandwidth of LSPC to varying degrees. Analysis of structure-associated electromagnetic loss behavior implies that hierarchical structure, dipolar/interfacial polarization and multiple reflection greatly contribute to the balanced impedance matching and attenuation capacity, thus improving the microwave absorption performance of activated LSPC materials.

随着现代电子信息、无线通讯和雷达技术的快速发展,电磁污染已经成为继噪音污染、大气污染、水污染之后的第四大污染,对电子设备的正常运行、人体健康、国家安全造成了极大的威胁,开发能衰减电磁波的吸波材料是解决电磁辐射污染问题最有效的方法之一[1-2]。吸波材料不仅可减小电磁污染对人类生活的影响,还可运用到军事侦查与反侦察领域中,在民生经济和国防建设都具有重要地位,轻质、宽频、高效、超薄的吸波材料是该领域最主要的研究方向之一。
与传统的铁、钴、镍等吸波材料相比,多孔碳材料具有跨尺度的孔结构,其中纳米孔可视作等效媒介以改善材料的阻抗匹配,从而让更多的电磁波进入吸波体内部[3-4];而微米级的孔结构有利于电磁波的多重反射,进而增加了电磁波的传播路径,使得材料有更多的机会衰减入射电磁波能[5]。近年来,通过模板法、刻蚀、组装等策略[6-7],人们构建了各种各样的多孔碳吸波材料,但这些方法涉及的原材料通常比较昂贵,且工艺过程对环境污染大。随着人们环保和节能意识的提高,开发绿色、可持续的新型多孔碳吸波材料已经成为学术界和工业领域研究的热点。
作为地球上最丰富的可再生资源,生物质材料具有量大、环保、可再生等优点,基于生物质材料制备的多孔碳材料具有制备工艺简单、孔结构丰富等优点,被广泛地应用于超级电容器、二氧化碳捕获、环境治理等方面[8]。与其他多孔碳材料一样,生物质多孔碳具有特殊的固-气主客体结构,不仅能有效减小有效介电常数,而且可诱导更强的界面极化和多重反射,故其对电磁波具有较高的衰减能力,是一种理想的吸波材料[8-12]。为了进一步改善生物碳的孔隙结构,通常采用物理或化学方法等对生物质碳材料进行活化处理,活化可进一步提高比表面积,降低材料的表观密度[11]。SINGH等[13]用氢氧化钾活化制备鸡毛多孔碳材料,其吸波性能较未活化的多孔碳材料提高121.89%。为活化相比,WANG等[14]研究表明氢氧化钾活化有利于提高胡桃壳多孔碳材料的吸收强度,而氧化锌活化则有利于拓展胡桃壳多孔碳材料的有效吸收带宽[15]。龙眼是南亚热带常绿长寿果树,年产量100万t左右。龙眼壳作为龙眼的主要组成部分,占龙眼鲜重的15%,然而只有少量可被作为中医药使用,其余常作为废弃物被遗弃,对环境带来污染。龙眼壳与其他生物质材料一样,具有丰富的空隙结构,具有一定的研究价值。同时,为了消除龙眼壳废弃物对自然生活环境的污染,开展龙眼壳综合利用是重要的技术经济政策,对合理利用资源、提高社会经济效益、保护自然环境及维护生态平衡都有着重要意义。本研究以龙眼壳为原料,通过分步碳化方式制备生物质多孔碳,研究了不同活化剂对龙眼壳多孔碳材料结构和性能的影响,以期为新型吸波材料开发和生物质废弃物资源高效利用提供借鉴。
龙眼壳来源于超市购买的龙眼干,20目过筛成1 mm左右的颗粒。氩气购置于湛江氧气厂;磷酸(H3PO4)、氢氧化钾(KOH)、氯化锌(ZnCl2)、无水乙醇购置于阿拉丁试剂公司;所有试剂均为分析纯,可直接使用。
首先,将龙眼壳用去离子水清洗干净,于鼓风烘箱中80 ℃烘干至恒重,粉碎、过筛成粒径均匀的粉末;其次,称取5 g龙眼壳,分别加入100 mL质量分数为15%的H3PO4、KOH、ZnCl2的水溶液中,60 ℃搅拌直至溶剂大部分挥发,随后在鼓风烘箱中80 ℃烘干至恒重;再次,将烘干后的混合物放入管式炉中,在氩气氛围下以5 ℃/min的升温速度加热到700 ℃,并恒温反应120 min;最后,待反应结束后,用大量去离子水把产物冲洗至中性,并在鼓风烘箱中80 ℃烘干至恒重。根据活化剂的不同,产物命名为LSPC-H3PO4、LSPC-KOH、LSPC-ZnCl2;未活化的龙眼壳多孔碳采用相似流程制备,过程中不添加活化剂,产物命名为LSPC。
X-射线衍射(XRD)图样采用日本RIGAKU公司的D8-9000型X-射线衍射仪进行分析,扫描速度为5 °/min,2θ角度扫描范围5~90 °;拉曼光谱(Raman)采用法国HORIBA公司的HREvolution型激光拉曼光谱仪测试,激发波长为514 nm,波数范围为50~4000 cm-1;微观形貌采用日本Hitachi公司S-4800型扫描电子显微镜(SEM)进行表征,加速电压3 kV;电磁参数采用美国Agilent公司N5244A型矢量网络分析仪经同轴法测定,频率范围为2.00~18.00 GHz,多孔碳材料与石蜡按质量比为3∶7混合,经粉末压片成外径7.00 mm、内径3.00 mm、厚度2.00 mm的同轴试样。
碳材料晶体结构是影响其吸波性能的重要因素,为探究活化对龙眼壳碳材料微观结构的影响,对其进行了X-射线衍射分析。图1A是未活化和3种活化剂活化制得的龙眼壳多孔碳材料的XRD图,4个多孔碳样品具有相似的衍射峰,在2θ在24°和43°均有2个较宽的衍射峰,分别归属于碳材料的(002)和(100)晶面,表明形成了石墨化结构[16];与未活化的多孔碳相比,活化制得的多孔碳材料的(002)和(100)晶面衍射强度略有降低、且峰变得更宽,说明活化处理破换了石墨碳晶区,呈现出更多的无定型组分[17]。为进一步考察活化剂对龙眼壳多孔碳材料结构的影响,对样品进行了拉曼光谱表征分析。由图1B可看出,碳化后的龙眼壳在1351 cm-1和1590 cm-1呈现出碳材料特有的特征峰,依次对应碳材料晶格缺陷引起的D峰和源于碳材料sp2杂化碳面内伸缩振动的G峰[18];通常可用D峰与G峰的比值,即ID/IG的大小来反映碳材料石墨化的程度,一般来说ID/IG的比值越大,碳材料的石墨化程度越低,内部缺陷越多[19];与未活化龙眼壳多孔碳材料相比,活化处理的龙眼壳多孔碳材料ID/IG比值降低,表明活化引入了更多的缺陷,形成了较多无序石墨结构,这与XRD结果一致。这种由活化带来的缺陷和无定型碳可以形成更多的异质界面和极化中心、增强介电损耗,改善材料的吸波性能。
不同活化方式对龙眼壳多孔碳材料的微观结构具有非常大的影响,图2是不同处理方式获得的龙眼壳多孔碳材料的SEM图。由图2A可看出,未活化的龙眼壳多孔碳材料由断面光滑、壁厚的孔组成,并保留了生物质材料的本结构,表明碳化保留了龙眼壳的本征结构。H3PO4活化处理使得多孔碳材料的孔壁变薄、孔结构更为明显(图2B),而ZnCl2活化只是在原有的光滑截面形成了许多500 nm左右的小孔;与H3PO4或ZnCl2活化不同,图2C所示的KOH活化多孔碳不仅保留了连续的孔结构,还形成许多3~10 μm的微孔,且孔壁出现了类似脊椎的波浪起伏结构,这种微米级波纹孔结构有利于阻抗匹配和电磁波的多重反射,进而提高材料的吸波性能。对比3种活化方式的XRD和Raman结果发现,在造孔方面,KOH效果最明显,其次是H3PO4,最后是ZnCl2
通常通过反射损耗(RL)来评价材料的吸波性能,根据平行传输线理论,反射损耗可表达为:
式中,εr为复介电常数,μr为复数磁导率,f为电磁波的频(Hz),d为吸波材料的厚度(m), c为电磁波在自由空间的速度(m/s)。
图3是龙眼壳多孔碳材料RL随厚度、频率的变化图,龙眼壳多孔碳材料的RL随入射电磁波频率、吸波层厚度的变化而变化,说明材料中电磁损耗网络的不规则性[20]。值得注意的是,随着厚度的增大,龙眼壳多孔碳材料的匹配频率(fm)向低频方向移动,这与波导传输线理论涉及的界面阻抗匹配以及电磁参数的变化有关,满足四分之一波长(λ/4)匹配模型[21]。由图3A可看出,LSPC的最优反射损耗RLmin仅为-11.08 dB,表明吸波性能较差。经活化后,LSPC-H3PO4的RLmin达到-21.50 dB,是LSPC的1.94倍;LSPC-KOH的RLmin更是达到-43.57 dB,分别是LSPC-H3PO4的2.03倍和LSPC-ZnCl2的3.02倍,呈现出最佳的吸波性能。衡量吸波材料的另一个指标是有效吸收带宽(EAB),即RL<-10 dB的频率宽度,由图3可看出,活化不同程度地提高了龙眼壳多孔碳材料的有效吸收带宽,尽管幅度不是很大。
吸波材料对电磁波的衰减主要通过源于填料网络的介电损耗和磁损耗来实现,与材料的复介电常数(εr=ε′- ″)和复磁导率(μr=μ′-″)密切相关,其中复介电常数和复磁导率的实部代表吸波材料储存电磁波能量的能力,而虚部则反映材料损耗电磁波能量的能力[22]图4是龙眼壳多孔碳材料电磁参数随频率的变化曲线,由图4A可看出,随着频率的增加,龙眼壳多孔碳材料复介电常数逐渐降低,这归因于高频电场引起的电偶极子极化驰豫,主要来源于碳化和/或活化过程中形成碳缺陷[23];此外,复介电常数曲线还存在轻微的波动,表明龙眼壳多孔碳材料存在电子位移极化、界面极化等多种形式极化损耗机制[24];由图4A'4B'可看出,龙眼壳多孔碳材料复磁导率存在多个共振峰,其中低频区域的共振峰归因于自然共振[4]。进一步观察发现,活化处理使得龙眼壳多孔碳材料复介电常数和复磁导率的实部增大,表明其存储电磁波的能力增强,这可能跟活化形成的多孔结构相关,因为多孔结构不仅有助于降低吸波材料的有效介电常数,还有利于电磁波的多重散射,进而改善材料的阻抗匹配和增强衰减常数[25];相反,活化处理使得龙眼壳多孔碳材料复介电常数和复磁导率的虚部降低,表明材料损耗电磁能量的能力有所下降。对比图4C4C'中材料的损耗因可得,龙眼壳多孔碳材料介电损耗远大于磁损耗,说明多孔碳材料对电磁波的衰减主要以介电损耗为主[26]
本研究以龙眼壳为原料,通过活化碳化方式制备了龙眼壳多孔碳材料。与未活化龙眼壳多孔碳材料相比,活化处理引入了更多的缺陷、无定型结构,这有利于形成更多的异质界面,增强介电损耗。微观形貌分析表明,未活化的龙眼壳多孔碳材料由断面光滑、壁厚的孔组成,并保留了生物质材料的本征结构;H3PO4活化处理使得多孔碳材料的孔壁变薄、孔结构更为明显,而ZnCl2活化则只是在原有的光滑截面形成了许多小孔;KOH活化多孔碳不仅保留了连续的孔结构,还形成许多微孔,且孔壁出现了类似脊椎的波浪起伏结构,这种微米级波纹孔结构有利于降低材料的有效介电常数,改善阻抗匹配和电磁波的多重反射,进而提高材料的吸波性能。吸波性能和介电性能分析表明,活化处理的龙眼壳多孔碳展现出较为优异的吸波性能,其中LSPC-KOH的RLmin达到-43.57 dB,分别是LSPC-H3PO4的2.03倍和LSPC-ZnCl2的3.02倍,呈现出最佳的吸波性能。龙眼壳多孔碳材料衰减电磁波的机理主要归结为以下几个机制:首先,碳化使得龙眼壳形成了石墨化结构,可通过传导损耗衰减电磁波;其次,活化使得龙眼壳多孔碳有更多的缺陷,这些缺陷可形成更多的极化中心、增强对电磁波能量的衰减;最后,活化形成了更多的微纳孔结构和更多空气-固体界面,界面极化效应更强、多重反射/散射也更加明显,进而增强了材料对电磁波的衰减。
目前,已有在澳洲坚果壳、稻壳、小麦秸秆、椰子、菠萝蜜皮中研究生物质多孔碳电磁波吸收材料性能的报道[27-31],经过对比,本研究制备的龙眼壳多孔碳材料具有较好的吸波性能,进一步开发了生物质果壳在电磁微波领域的应用,为开发绿色可持续的生物质资源提供了新的途径。
