The development of low-altitude aircraft is a core component in advancing the development of the low-altitude economy and the transformation of transportation. As the core of the energy system in low-altitude aircraft, the battery management system (BMS) directly determines the safety limits and commercial viability of low-altitude aircraft. This paper provides an in-depth analysis of the stringent performance requirements, airworthiness certification standards, and operational constraints of low-altitude aircraft BMS. On this basis, it systematically reviews the physical architecture evolution of BMS, with a focus on the technical status of core functions such as state estimation, fault diagnosis, and health management. To address key challenges such as high-rate discharge, operation in extreme temperature ranges, and lifecycle safety, this paper analyzes the application potential and development trends of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, wireless transmission, and cloud-edge collaboration, and discusses the evolutionary paths for BMS toward high intelligence, integration, and proactive safety defense. This paper aims to provide a theoretical reference for the technological innovation and engineering application of low-altitude aircraft BMS, supporting the sustainable development of the low-altitude economy industry.
