The lunar surface becomes charged under the influence of solar wind and sunlight, and the potential differences on the surface form an electric field environment of various scales, which is the main mechanism for material transfer on the lunar surface. The electric field probe of Chang’E-7 will, for the first time, conduct in-situ electric field detection on the lunar surface. This paper introduces the design and results of the physical verification test of the probe in plasma environment based on the qualification model of the electric field probe. The basic principle of the electric field probe is the plasma electric probe principle. By clamping the probe current at a specific value, the potential of the probe can be determined according to the plasma V-I characteristic curve. The potential difference between different probes is the potential difference formed by the electric field environment on the plasma environment. Whether the probe can measure the plasma V-I characteristic curve is the key to the success of the probe design. With the help of a ground low-energy plasma simulation device, this test was carried out, and fixed current drive and scanning current measurement were conducted. The test results show that the electric field probe of Chang’E-7 can correctly reflect the plasma environment inside the simulation device and obtain a stable V-I characteristic curve. This proves that the electric field probe can achieve the function of obtaining the plasma potential by driving the probe current when working on the lunar surface, and the physical characteristics of the probe have been fully verified through the test.

月球表面在太阳风和阳光的作用下会带电, 表面电位的差异在月球表面形成不同尺度的电场环境, 这是月球表面物质迁移的主要机制之一, 嫦娥七号电场探头将在月球表面首次实现原位电场探测. 电场探头的基本原理是等离子体电探针原理, 将探针电流钳制在特定值上, 根据等离子体伏安特性曲线, 探针的电位是确定的, 不同探针的电位差是电场在等离子体上形成的电位差. 进行等离子体伏安特性曲线测量是探针设计的关键. 针对电场探头, 提出了探头在等离子体环境中的物理特性的验证试验的设计. 借助地面的低能等离子体模拟装置开展这一试验, 进行了固定电流的驱动和扫描电流的测量, 试验结果表明, 嫦娥七号电场探头能够正确反映模拟装置内部的等离子体环境, 并得到稳定的伏安特性曲线, 证明电场探头在月面工作时可以通过对探针电流的驱动实现获取等离子体电位的功能, 探头的物理特性通过试验得到充分验证.

月球表面在太阳风和阳光的作用下会带电, 表面电位的差异在月球表面形成不同尺度的电场环境, 这是月球表面物质迁移的主要机制之一, 嫦娥七号电场探头将在月球表面首次实现原位电场探测. 电场探头的基本原理是等离子体电探针原理, 将探针电流钳制在特定值上, 根据等离子体伏安特性曲线, 探针的电位是确定的, 不同探针的电位差是电场在等离子体上形成的电位差. 进行等离子体伏安特性曲线测量是探针设计的关键. 针对电场探头, 提出了探头在等离子体环境中的物理特性的验证试验的设计. 借助地面的低能等离子体模拟装置开展这一试验, 进行了固定电流的驱动和扫描电流的测量, 试验结果表明, 嫦娥七号电场探头能够正确反映模拟装置内部的等离子体环境, 并得到稳定的伏安特性曲线, 证明电场探头在月面工作时可以通过对探针电流的驱动实现获取等离子体电位的功能, 探头的物理特性通过试验得到充分验证.

The lunar surface becomes charged under the influence of solar wind and sunlight, and the potential differences on the surface form an electric field environment of various scales, which is the main mechanism for material transfer on the lunar surface. The electric field probe of Chang’E-7 will, for the first time, conduct in-situ electric field detection on the lunar surface. This paper introduces the design and results of the physical verification test of the probe in plasma environment based on the qualification model of the electric field probe. The basic principle of the electric field probe is the plasma electric probe principle. By clamping the probe current at a specific value, the potential of the probe can be determined according to the plasma V-I characteristic curve. The potential difference between different probes is the potential difference formed by the electric field environment on the plasma environment. Whether the probe can measure the plasma V-I characteristic curve is the key to the success of the probe design. With the help of a ground low-energy plasma simulation device, this test was carried out, and fixed current drive and scanning current measurement were conducted. The test results show that the electric field probe of Chang’E-7 can correctly reflect the plasma environment inside the simulation device and obtain a stable V-I characteristic curve. This proves that the electric field probe can achieve the function of obtaining the plasma potential by driving the probe current when working on the lunar surface, and the physical characteristics of the probe have been fully verified through the test.

中国嫦娥七号任务计划在月球南极沙克尔顿坑附近对月表空间环境以及水冰分布进行综合探测. 月球在受到光照的一面产生大量光电子, 使得月球表面带正电, 而在月球的夜侧, 月球表面与行星际或者地球磁层环境中的等离子体相互作用, 导致表面带负电, 因此月球表面晨昏交界处存在大尺度的水平电场[1], 同时月表等离子体鞘层内也存在以垂直电场为主的电场. 在月球南极, 太阳风和太阳光几乎平行于水平面, 但是当表面有复杂的地形遮挡时, 也有类似的效应产生局部电场, 所以嫦娥七号面临的电场分布比较复杂. 月球表面电场是月球表面物质输运的主要机制, 也是理解月尘等月面物质运动规律的输入[2,3]. 在月球表面进行电场探测具有重要意义.
月球没有大气层, 月球表面直接与太阳风等离子体环境或者地球磁层等离子体环境接触, 同时在阳光照射下会放出光电子, 高能粒子的轰击也会产生次级粒子, 月球表面存在大量带电粒子, 形成等离子体环境. 在这种环境下可以利用等离子体电探针作为传感器进行电场探测. 目前, 国际上尚未有针对月表电场的就位探测数据. 卫星平台上的等离子体电探针技术非常成熟, 是卫星开展空间环境探测的主要手段. 在地球电离层中, 法国的DEMETER卫星利用4个球型电探针[4], 用4根伸杆使其在卫星周围形成四面体4个顶点探测, 并反演三维电场, 中国的张衡一号01星和02星也采取类似方案[5], 利用4个球型电探针实现三维电场探测. 在地球磁层中, 等离子体环境相比电离层更为稀薄, 等离子体德拜半径较长, 卫星平台 (CLUSTER II卫星[6]、THEMIS卫星[7]、MMS卫星[8]等) 一般采用自旋平台结合绳系球型电探针的探测方案, 电探针被伸出卫星外几十米. 月表电场探测可以参考这些卫星的电探针电场探测技术开展载荷设计.
电探针测量电场的本质是测量电位, 通过一定间距外两个探针的电位差反演该方向上的电场. 电探针在等离子体中的伏安特性曲线并非线性, 电场探测需要找到等效阻抗最小的工作区域驱动电流, 以获得更为稳定的等离子体电位. 电探针能够正确反映与其设计一致的等离子体伏安特性曲线, 对于载荷设计非常重要, 在地面实验室条件下无法进行真实环境的测试. 利用真空罐、磁补偿线圈、等离子体源等设备构建起局部的低能等离子体环境, 可以为电探针提供较为接近真实的环境, 可以进行等离子体伏安特性的验证试验. 本文将介绍嫦娥七号电场探头鉴定件开展的试验情况.
根据月球南极几何条件, 太阳风来流与月面近似平行, 假设月球表面等离子体密度为月球轨道无扰动太阳风密度, 约为107 m−3, 等离子体温度约为10 eV[9]. 这种条件下, 在月球表面等离子体德拜半径λD约为7.5 m, 电子回旋半径$ {\rho }_{e} $达到为100 m以上, 电子碰撞频率达到1×10–6, 而电子振荡频率约为170 kHz. 当探针足够小 (尺寸在cm量级) 时, 可以忽略磁场和碰撞效应的影响. 电探针在等离子体中与带电粒子相互作用, 描述探针电流的理论公式很多, 最经典的是Mott-Smith提出的OML理论[10], Allen等[11]在OML理论基础上, 考虑离子温度小于电子温度的情况提出了ABR模型, Laframboise[12]结合ABR和OML理论, 进一步发展了数值计算理论, 这些模型为后期的电探针应用奠定了基础. 在实际空间探测活动的朗缪尔探针和电场仪的物理设计中, 更简洁的OML理论仍占据主流. 这一理论忽略磁场和碰撞对粒子运动的影响, 通过对玻尔兹曼分布的带电粒子行为统计积分获得探针的整体电流. 由OML理论推导得到的V-I特性曲线描述公式如下:

式中, $ {I}_{\mathrm{p}} $为探针电流, 由电子电流$ {I}_{\mathrm{e}} $和离子电流$ {I}_{\mathrm{i}} $构成; V为电探针传感器与周围等离子体环境的电位差. 当V<0时, 电子电流的自然对数与V成正比, 离子电流与V成正比; 当V>0时, 电子电流与V成正比, 离子电流的自然对数与V成正比; 当V=0时, 电子电流和离子电流是各自的饱和电流. 其中, q, m, NT分别为对应粒子的电荷、质量、密度和温度; k为玻尔兹曼常数; a为电探针传感器半径.
在此种环境下, 电探针收集的等离子体电流非常微弱, 饱和电流约为7 nA; 而在光照条件下, 探头的光电子将起到主导作用, 在地球轨道附近, 电探针的光电流与面积相关, 饱和光电子$ {I}_{\mathrm{ph}0} $约为4 nA·cm–2[7]. 探头的光电子电流与探针相对等离子体电位的关系式如下:

以直径5 cm的电探针为例, 电场探头的伏安特性曲线如图1所示. 传感器理想的工作区是V-I特性曲线斜率较大且接近等离子体电位的区域. 当有光照在探针上时, 光电子阻滞区域是较为理想的工作点, 驱动电流可以取到–60~–70 nA, 在此区间里, 探针测量电位相对稳定. 而对于没有光照的条件下, 理想工作区在探头的饱和电流附近, 驱动电流应设置在7 nA左右.
电场探测是等离子体电探针的一种应用, 无需关注V-I特性曲线的形态, 包括其能否正确反演等离子体温度密度等参数. 该应用仅关注两个探针在等离子体中探测结果的一致性, 假设4个电探针所处等离子体环境一致, 电场将引起等离子体环境整体电位的偏置, 而伏安特性曲线的形态不会发生变化. 此时, 将4个电探针在相同电流的驱动下感应出来的电位差可归因于电场; 电位差梯度测量结果结合探针的距离和连线方向, 可以反演空间特定方向的电场. 为了降低环境等离子体扰动, 避免电流驱动误差造成的电位误差过大, 电场探头的工作点将设置在V-I特性曲线最为陡峭的区域, 即等离子体阻抗最小的区间.
嫦娥七号电场探头是月表环境探测系统传感器之一, 由4个球型电探针组成, 电场探头部署在着陆器的载荷安装侧板上, 采用卷筒式伸杆将电探针伸展到距离着陆器0.5~1 m的位置, 构成四面体构型, 如图2(a) 所示. 这种构型可以进行三维电场的反演, 同时降低着陆器表面等离子体鞘层的影响. 这种卷筒式伸杆技术是利用钢制卷筒的弹性驱动自身实现展开的, 在THEMIS, DEMETER以及张衡一号等卫星任务上均有应用. 由于电场探头伸展长度较短, 不再使用复杂的驱动装置和辅助电缆旋转的滑环, 完全依靠自身弹性驱动实现展开, 如图2(b) 所示.
电场探头直径a为5 cm, 采用钛合金制造, 表面进行TiN涂层处理. TiN是等离子体电探针常用的表面涂层材料, 具有表面刚度高、导电性高、功函数大等特点. TiN功函数约为4.2~5 eV[13,14], 有研究表明TiN作为电探针表面涂层材料, 相比另外一种常用涂层石墨DAG213, 其在表面硬度和光电特性方面更具有优势[15]. 根据前述分析, 在月球表面环境中德拜半径与探针半径的比值($ {\lambda }_{\mathrm{D}}/a $)达到300, 电子回旋半径与探针半径的比值($ {\rho }_{\mathrm{e}}/a $)达到4000, 电子碰撞频率与振荡频率的比值($ {\nu }_{\mathrm{e}}/{\omega }_{\mathrm{e}} $)可达到1×10–11.
考虑到月表等离子体稀薄, 等离子体阻抗较大, 在光照和阴影下的等离子体环境变化较大, 探头可能在驱动电流的作用下感应到几十伏的较高电位, 2024年Xie等[2]数值模拟研究了月球着陆器周围在尘埃、等离子体和光照作用下形成的电位分布. 电场探头的驱动电路采用悬浮电源设计, 通过电路基准地随探针电位的自适应调整, 实现±100 V的电位适应能力[16]. 电场探头通过跟随器获取探头电位, 驱动DAC在探头电位基础上施加偏置电位, 并通过电阻形成对探头的电流. 在外部等离子体形成阻抗后, 电场探头锁定输出电流并测量等离子体电位. 电场探头的驱动电路和信号采集电路安装在着陆器载荷管理器内部.
电场探头只能在等离子体环境中工作, 采用模拟阻抗仅能对其进行电性功能测试, 无法证明电场探头在等离子体条件下的工作状态, 而在地面上模拟月面等离子体环境相当困难. 这不仅要有真空环境, 还需要以扩散为主的等离子体环境, 为此应避免地球磁场的影响. 意大利空间天体物理学与行星学研究所拥有一套弱磁环境下的冷等离子体模拟设备, 为张衡一号朗缪尔探针等多个等离子体探测仪器提供了地面等离子体物理验证试验环境[17,18].
中国科学院国家空间科学中心建有一套冷等离子体环境模拟装置, 如图3所示. 其外部线圈系统可以部分抵消地磁场, 将罐体内的磁场降低至几百nT, 从而避免强磁场对于带电粒子运动的约束. 罐体内设计了氩气等离子体源, 采用扩散的方式实现罐内低能等离子体的均匀分布. 罐内等离子体密度可以控制在5×1010 m–3以下, 温度在1 eV左右. 虽然这些参数与月球表面等离子体环境仿真结果还有较大差异, 但是这里分析$ {\lambda }_{\mathrm{D}}/a $=3, $ {\rho }_{\mathrm{e}}/a $=1320, $ {\nu }_{\mathrm{e}}/{\omega }_{\mathrm{e}} $≈8×10–9, 仍然可以满足基本模拟要求. 电场探头在模拟环境下测量等离子体V-I特性曲线, 在物理原理上可以认为是等效的.
将未安装在伸杆上的2个电场探头鉴定件安装在试验罐体中, 如图4所示. 在等离子体环境内进行稳定电流驱动试验和电流驱动扫描试验.
等离子体罐内模拟环境下, 等离子体的响应时间在0.2 μs左右, 为了便于试验操作和数据分析, 试验每次稳定驱动电流设置为400 s, 同时测量不同探头的电压信号. 在稳定驱动电流的情况下, 电压也应稳定, 根据实际测量结果, 单个探头的磁场测量不确定度(1 σ)在0.15 V以下. 罐内等离子体密度并不十分均匀, 在电流驱动时, 等离子体平衡被破坏, 罐内等离子体不能达到理想程度的均匀. 试验中调整电流的系数, 两次试验的电流范围不同, 得到的试验结果如图5所示.
图6可以看到, 在不同驱动电流作用下罐内两个电场探头电位差的变化, 每个驱动电流下的电位差稳定性非常好. 当电流驱动为正电流时, 即电探针接收电子的过程中, 罐内的电位差较小; 电流驱动为负电流时, 探头接收离子, 罐内电位差随着电流的增大而显著增大, 这与罐内V-I特性曲线的斜率是相对应的. 说明V-I特性曲线的正离子饱和区电位受到收集电流影响较大, 在模拟装置内, 离子收集电流的改变很容易改变罐内的等离子体环境.
第二个试验是进行快速电流扫描试验, 扫描步长设置为2 s, 每一步的持续时间远大于等离子体的响应时间. 理论上可以通过扫描获得罐内等离子体的V-I特性曲线. 试验通过改变扫描步长, 得到两个幅度的扫描曲线. 分析扫描电压曲线图7图8, 等离子体罐内的扫描一致性和重复性较好, 说明电场探头在等离子体环境下的物理特性测量是稳定的. 从正向扫描和负向扫描的过程来看, 扫描曲线未能完全重合, 考虑到V-I曲线不是线性曲线, 采用$ \left|\dfrac{\Delta V}{\mathrm{d}V/\mathrm{d}I}\right| $作为评估曲线重合的标准. 在0.694 μA步长下, 电流正反向扫描曲线的最大差异约为3 μA, 0.008 μA步长扫描曲线的最大差异约为0.05 μA.
通过试验得到的V-I特性曲线, 依据OML模型可以计算罐内等离子体的电子密度和离子密度, 见表1. 同时根据0.008 μA步长扫描数据, 可以计算得到电子温度在0.35~0.8 eV内. 罐内等离子体环境无法进行非常准确的控制, 此外, 扫描过程中过大的电位和电流会破坏内部等离子体平衡, OML只是一种理想的近似模型, 因此反演结果会出现一定的不确定度和误差. 但是整体上, 反演得到的温度和密度与预期的1 eV和1010 m–3在1个数量级内.
试验采用的低能等离子体模拟试验环境空间有限, 在较大的电流驱动下, 罐内等离子体平衡被破坏, 很难保持非常稳定. 罐内等离子体扩散平衡会有一定的梯度, 这可能是不同探针电位存在一定差异的原因. 两个电场探头所在位置不同, 二者间的电位差在V-I特性斜率较大的区域里非常稳定, 而在离子阻滞区斜率较小, 电位的稳定性较差, 这完全符合电探针的特性, 为后续的电场探头工作区设置提供了参考. 试验针对的是电场探头鉴定件, 下一步将针对正样飞行设计一个转台, 分别将4个探头转动至相同的位置, 作为主探头开展试验. 这样处理后, 探头所在的等离子体环境基本一致, 对于4个探头的物理特性可以更好地进行分析. 光照对于V-I特性曲线的影响是显著的, 虽然TiN涂层的光电特性可以在部组件级进行测试, 但是如果结合等离子体测试, 将对实际探测更有帮助. 在后续试验中将考虑增加真空紫外光源模拟光照, 以验证光照条件下的探针电流收集情况. 另外, 在后续试验中还将增加第三方朗缪尔探针作为参考, 改变等离子体环境参数, 考察电场探头对环境的敏感性. 在电探针的工作模式上, 试验以整体扫描测量为主, 未来将设计更多工作模式, 例如通过区域小振幅交流法快速测量某一曲线区域的斜率, 利用多种工作模式进行测量对比.
本次试验对嫦娥七号电场探头鉴定件开展等离子体环境下的物理特性验证试验, 通过扫描电流分析得到两个探头在等离子体内的V-I特性曲线, 两个探头在相同的等离子体环境中得到的曲线高度一致. 由V-I曲线反演得到的等离子体参数与罐内控制的等离子体环境参数接近. 两个探针在相同驱动电流下得到的电位和电位差在电子阻滞和饱和区非常稳定, 这表明未来可以将探头工作点设置在V-I曲线的这一区域. 试验对电场探头进行了较好的物理验证, 未来将改进试验方案, 实现对电场探头正样飞行件的标定和验证.
