The effects of attapulgite thermally activated at different temperatures, formaldehyde concentration and gas residence time on the formaldehyde removal efficiency were investigated. The reaction mechanism of formaldehyde on the surface of attapulgite particles was investigated by In-situ-diffuse reflectance infrared spectroscopy. The results show that attapulgite (Pal-250) thermally activated at 250℃ has an optimum formaldehyde removal rate. Oxygen enhances the removal of formaldehyde in the presence of Pal-250, indicating that the removal mechanism of attapulgite thermally activated for formaldehyde is physical adsorption and the catalytic mineralization process. The adsorbed formaldehyde can be partially mineralized into methylene dioxymehtylene, formate, carbonate and other species.

研究了不同温度热活化凹凸棒石去除甲醛的作用及甲醛浓度、气体停留时间对去除效率的影响规律，并通过原位漫反射红外光谱研究了甲醛在凹凸棒石表面的作用机制。结果表明：250℃热活化凹凸棒石（Pal-250）具有最好的甲醛去除性能，空气中氧增强了Pal-250对甲醛的去除，表明热活化凹凸棒石对甲醛去除机制不仅为物理吸附，同时包含催化矿化过程。部分吸附态的甲醛可以通过羟基和活性氧在凹凸棒石表面发生矿化反应，生成亚甲基二氧、甲酸盐、碳酸盐等物种。
