In satellite-to-ground communication,during the process of P-band signal crossing the atmosphere to reach the ground array,its direction of arrival(DOA) and polarization angle are changed by ionosphere effects. Therefore,there is an error between the estimated values obtained by the existing DOA-polarization estimation algorithm and the real values. In order to solve the problem,corrections are made from the aspects of DOA and polarization angle. Firstly, considering the ionospheric refraction effect, a signal propagation model of ionosphere is established,based on which a correction method for pitch angle error is proposed. Secondly,regarding the Faraday rotation(FR) effect of ionosphere,the influence of Faraday rotation angle (FRA) on signal polarization is analyzed,and two estimation methods of FRA based on scattering matrix are proposed according to the process of ground target scattering. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed methods can accurately calculate the correction value of pitch angle and FRA of P-band signal. Under certain conditions,the pitch angle estimation accuracy is improved by about 0.1°,and the FRA estimation accuracy is improved by nearly 1°,so the correction of DOA and polarization angle is realized.

星地通信背景下,P波段信号在穿越大气到达地面阵列的过程中,受到电离层效应的影响,其波达方向(Direction of Arrival,DOA)与极化角均发生改变,因此现有DOA-极化联合估计算法得到的估计值与真实值之间存在误差。为解决此问题,从DOA和极化角两个方面分别进行校正。首先考虑电离层折射效应,建立电离层信号传播模型,以此为基础提出俯仰角误差修正方法。其次针对电离层法拉第旋转(Faraday Rotation,FR)效应,分析法拉第旋转角(Faraday Rotation Angle,FRA)对信号极化的影响,根据地面目标散射过程,提出两种基于散射矩阵的FRA估计方法。通过仿真实验可知,所提方法可以准确计算P波段信号俯仰角修正值与FRA,在一定条件下,将俯仰角估计精度提高约0.1°,FRA估计精度提高近1°,从而实现DOA与极化角的校正。

星地通信背景下,P波段信号在穿越大气到达地面阵列的过程中,受到电离层效应的影响,其波达方向(Direction of Arrival,DOA)与极化角均发生改变,因此现有DOA-极化联合估计算法得到的估计值与真实值之间存在误差。为解决此问题,从DOA和极化角两个方面分别进行校正。首先考虑电离层折射效应,建立电离层信号传播模型,以此为基础提出俯仰角误差修正方法。其次针对电离层法拉第旋转(Faraday Rotation,FR)效应,分析法拉第旋转角(Faraday Rotation Angle,FRA)对信号极化的影响,根据地面目标散射过程,提出两种基于散射矩阵的FRA估计方法。通过仿真实验可知,所提方法可以准确计算P波段信号俯仰角修正值与FRA,在一定条件下,将俯仰角估计精度提高约0.1°,FRA估计精度提高近1°,从而实现DOA与极化角的校正。

In satellite-to-ground communication,during the process of P-band signal crossing the atmosphere to reach the ground array,its direction of arrival(DOA) and polarization angle are changed by ionosphere effects. Therefore,there is an error between the estimated values obtained by the existing DOA-polarization estimation algorithm and the real values. In order to solve the problem,corrections are made from the aspects of DOA and polarization angle. Firstly, considering the ionospheric refraction effect, a signal propagation model of ionosphere is established,based on which a correction method for pitch angle error is proposed. Secondly,regarding the Faraday rotation(FR) effect of ionosphere,the influence of Faraday rotation angle (FRA) on signal polarization is analyzed,and two estimation methods of FRA based on scattering matrix are proposed according to the process of ground target scattering. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed methods can accurately calculate the correction value of pitch angle and FRA of P-band signal. Under certain conditions,the pitch angle estimation accuracy is improved by about 0.1°,and the FRA estimation accuracy is improved by nearly 1°,so the correction of DOA and polarization angle is realized.

阵列信号处理技术是近几十年来学者们研究的热点问题[1-6],其研究目的在于提取阵列接收信号,并估计波达方向(Direction of Arrival,DOA)、极化角等特征信息。极化敏感阵列具备稳健的信号检测能力与极化多址性能[7],可同时提取信号的空间时延信息和极化信息,从而用于信号的DOA-极化联合估计[8-10]
近年来,针对极化敏感阵列的DOA-极化联合估计理论研究取得了一定成果。文献[11]采用交叉电偶极子作为阵元,利用ESPRIT算法实现来波信号方位与极化参数联合估计。文献[12-14]针对电磁矢量传感器阵列,分别研究了存在原位误差以及近场源、相干源入射阵列时的DOA-极化联合估计问题。文献[15]基于柱面共形阵列,实现了入射信号的二维方位角与极化参数的联合估计。文献[16-17]采用基于子阵分割的有向阵元MUSIC算法,分别对球面阵列与柱面阵列进行DOA-极化联合估计。上述研究均采用自由空间信道模型对信号进行理想化建模,然而在实际信号传输过程中,由于大气对电磁波的影响,信道模型发生改变。星地通信背景下,P波段信号在到达地面阵列的过程中,会穿过大气中的电离层,在该区域,中性气体由于太阳电磁辐射和宇宙高能粒子的碰撞而发生电离,产生大量的自由电子与正离子,大气介电性质明显改变[18]。信号受到电离层效应的影响,其特征信息变化,自由空间信道模型无法适用,因此DOA-极化联合估计结果与真实值之间存在误差,需要通过后续处理进行校正。
本文从DOA与极化角两个方面对星地P波段信号电离层效应下DOA-极化联合估计进行校正。首先考虑电离层折射效应,根据电离层折射指数垂直分布曲线建立电离层信号传播模型,以此为基础提出俯仰角误差修正方法。其次针对电离层法拉第旋转(Faraday Rotation,FR)效应,分析法拉第旋转角(Faraday Rotation Angle,FRA)对信号极化的影响,基于地面目标散射过程,提出两种FRA估计方法,并与现有方法进行性能对比。
由于重力作用,电离层中的带电粒子具有垂向分布特性,因此垂直方向电子密度分布差异明显,穿行其中的电磁波受到影响,传播路径发生弯折,俯仰角改变。该现象称为电离层折射效应。受到折射效应的影响,星地P波段信号DOA估计值与真实值之间存在误差。
为实现DOA校正,必须对俯仰角误差进行修正。本节从以下两个方面进行研究:首先根据电离层电子密度分布,建立电离层折射指数模型;其次建立信号在电离层中传播的几何模型,在该模型的基础上提出俯仰角误差修正方法,并通过仿真实验进行验证。
电离层在整体上呈现电中性的等离子体状态,但是大量处于游离态的带电粒子使大气介电性质发生改变,影响电磁波的传播。对于甚高频(Very High Frequency,VHF)以上,即频率高于300 MHz的电磁波,可忽略粒子碰撞造成的吸收项,并且除垂直于磁场方向外,其他方向上的电磁波可认为是准纵传播。若不考虑双折射效应,电离层折射指数可近似为
式中:ni为电离层折射指数;re=e2/(4πε0c2)为经典电子半径,c=3×108m/s为真空中的光速;Ne为电离层电子密度;k0=2π/λ为电磁波波数,λ为对应波长。
由式(1)可知,电离层折射指数与电子密度有关。电子密度垂直分布可以通过模型获得。基于大量地基和空间测量数据的国际参考电离层(International Reference Ionosphere,IRI)模型[19]已发展为能够描述大多数规则电离层现象的经验模型,目前已得到无线电科学国际联盟(International Union of Radio Science,URSI)与国际标准化组织(International Standardization Organization,ISO)等机构的广泛认可[20-21]。本文利用IRI模型获取电离层电子密度分布,根据对应的时间、地理位置,可得2012-02-11T16LT武汉地区(114°E,30°N)电离层电子密度垂直分布,如图1所示。
当P波段频率为300 MHz的电磁波通过电离层,将电磁波频率与电子密度垂直分布代入式(1),可得2012-02-11T16LT武汉地区电离层折射指数垂直分布曲线,如图2所示。
一般情况下,电离层电子密度在垂直方向上的变化远大于在水平方向上的变化,可以认为电子密度在水平方向上均匀分布,进而电离层折射指数在同一水平面内保持一致。由图2可知,电离层折射指数在垂直方向上是缓变的,因此可以将电离层区域垂直分层,假设层内折射指数保持不变,当信号通过电离层时,在层内沿直线传播,层间发生折射。基于此原理,构建电离层信号传播模型,如图3所示。
该模型中的物理量定义如下:O为地心;r0=6371 km为地球半径;h0= 60 km为电离层下界高度,h0以上高度为电离层;n0=1为空气折射指数;A0为地面阵列位置;φ0为俯仰角估计值;φ0∗为电磁波穿过电离层后的折射角;δ0为电磁波在电离层以下区域传播路径所对应的地心夹角;Ai为电磁波在通过第i层电离层的穿刺点位置;φi为电磁波通过第i层电离层的俯仰角;φi为电磁波进入第i层电离层的折射角;δi为电磁波在第i层电离层中传播路径所对应的地心夹角;ni为第i层电离层的折射指数;ri为第i层电离层与地心之间的距离,且ri+1=rih,Δh为电离层分层高度;T为真实目标所在位置;T′为电离层折射效应导致的目标被误判的位置;H为目标距地面高度;R为目标与地面阵列之间的距离;Δ为目标地心角;α0为俯仰角修正值。
基于图3模型,提出一种俯仰角误差修正方法,根据俯仰角估计值φ0,计算俯仰角修正值α0。具体过程如下:
1)第i层电离层的俯仰角φi
根据折射定律,可以建立相邻分层之间俯仰角与折射角的关系:
在三角形OAiAi+1中,由正弦定理可得
通过式(2)~(3),可得电磁波通过电离层相邻两层的俯仰角关系,通过递推可得第i层电离层的俯仰角φi与俯仰角估计值φ0的关系:
2)目标地心角Δ
在三角形OAiAi+1中,通过式(2)~(3)求得俯仰角φi与折射角φi,则传播路径对应地心夹角δi可表示为
求得每层地心夹角,累加即可得到目标地心角Δ,即
3)俯仰角修正值α0
在三角形OA0T中,由余弦定理可得
求得目标与地面阵列之间的距离后,再次利用余弦定理,即可得到俯仰角修正值α0 :
通过1.2节提出的俯仰角误差修正方法,根据电磁波频率、俯仰角估计值等信息,可以求得俯仰角修正值,实现DOA校正。俯仰角估计值与修正值之差为俯仰角修正量,记为ε,即
基于MATLAB编程软件,可以定量分析星地通信背景下P波段信号在不同入射方位与不同频率情况下的俯仰角修正量,仿真场景为2012-02-11T16LT武汉地区电离层。
P波段频率为300 MHz的信号到达地面阵列,当俯仰角估计值φ0分别为15°、40°、60°和85°时,俯仰角修正量随目标高度的变化规律如图4(a)所示。当频率分别为300 MHz、500 MHz和700 MHz的信号到达地面阵列时,若俯仰角估计值φ0均为85°,俯仰角修正量随目标高度的变化规律如图4(b)所示。
图4(a)可知,信号俯仰角估计值越大,即入射方位越接近平行于地面,俯仰角修正量越大。当俯仰角估计值为85°时,俯仰角修正量在部分高度范围内超过0.1°。由图4(b)可知,信号频率越低,俯仰角修正量越大。当频率为300 MHz的信号通过电离层时,俯仰角修正量在部分高度范围内超过0.1°。
综上所述,在大俯仰角入射和较低频段的情况下,本文提出的修正方法计算所得俯仰角修正量较大,提高了DOA估计的准确性,实现了星地P波段信号DOA校正。
本节分析电离层效应对线极化电磁波的影响。其他极化模式的电磁波均可分解为不同幅度、相位线极化波的组合,可以同理分析。线极化波在电离层中传输时,受到双折射效应的影响,会分裂为能量相等、旋向相反的两个圆极化波,由于相速度不同,两个圆极化波偏转角度有所差异。穿过电离层后,两个圆极化波重新合成一个线极化波,但其极化方向相比原线极化波存在角度偏差,该角度称为法拉第旋转角(Faraday Rotation Angle,FRA),记为Ω,该现象称为法拉第旋转(Faraday Rotation,FR)效应。受到FR效应的影响,星地P波段信号极化角估计值与真实值之间存在误差。
为实现极化角校正,必须对FRA准确估计。本节从以下两个方面进行研究:首先基于地面目标散射的过程,分析FRA估计原理;其次提出两种FRA估计方法,并与现有方法进行性能对比。
电磁波信号可由两个分量构成的列向量表示,该列向量称为琼斯矢量,其表达式为
式中:E0 HE0V表示两个垂直分量。
当线极化波进入电离层时,分解为两个圆极化波,可表示为
式中:E01 =(E0 H+jE0 V/2;E02 =(E0 H-jE0 V/2。两圆极化波传播常量分别为k0n+k0n-。
两圆极化波离开电离层后,重新合成线极化波,其表达式为
式中:表示信号传输过程中的相位延迟;表示电离层色散效应的影响,re为经典电子半径,TEC为电离层电子总量;F为法拉第旋转矩阵(Faraday Rotation Matrix,FRM),其表达式为
经过地面目标散射后的信号表达式为
式中:S为地面目标散射矩阵,其形式为
散射矩阵S中的元素对应收发天线通道,h表示天线采用水平极化,v表示天线采用垂直极化。根据收发天线极化方式的异同,ShhSvv为同极化通道,ShvSvh为交叉极化通道。电磁波被地面目标散射后,会再次穿过电离层并被重新接收,接收信号可表示为
式中:M为测量散射矩阵,其形式为
在给定背景电离层场景中,均为已知量,因此,对FR效应的研究取决于测量散射矩阵M。根据散射互异性原理,有Shv=Svh,将矩阵M展开并化简可得
由式(18)可知,FRA的存在使得测量散射矩阵M不同于真实散射矩阵S。对于已知地面目标,可以通过测量散射矩阵M得到FRA估计值,从而实现极化角校正。
对测量散射矩阵M进行一定的变换,可以得到两种FRA估计方法。
M1= [MhhMhvMvhMvv]TM1对应的极化协方差矩阵(Polarimetric Covariance Matrix,PCM)定义为

考虑地面目标所处环境,目标散射矩阵S可能受到系统加性噪声的影响,信噪比(Signal-to-Noise Ratio,SNR)可定义为
此外,电磁波信号在经历地面目标散射并重新接收的过程中,会受到收发天线的扰动影响。因此,在式(16)的基础上,接收信号可以修正为
式中:R为接收天线扰动矩阵;T为发射天线扰动矩阵。RT的表达式分别为
式中:δ1表示接收系统H极化天线与V极化天线之间的串扰;δ2表示接收系统V极化天线与H极化天线之间的串扰;δ3表示发射系统H极化天线与V极化天线之间的串扰;δ4表示发射系统V极化天线与H极化天线之间的串扰;f1表示接收系统H极化天线与发射系统V极化天线之间的通道不平衡;f2表示接收系统V极化天线与发射系统H极化天线之间的通道不平衡。
现有FRA估计方法中,整体性能最好的是Bickel和Bates于1965年提出的B&B方法[22]。B&B方法直接运用圆极化基下的测量散射矩阵元素进行FRA估计,散射矩阵元素受到系统误差的影响,使得B&B方法计算所得FRA估计值与真实值误差偏大。相比之下,N1方法与N2方法通过空间平均的方法降低了系统误差,理论上可以提高FRA估计性能。以下将分别研究系统加性噪声、幅度不平衡、相位不平衡和串扰4种系统误差对FRA估计性能的影响,对比N1方法、N2方法与B&B方法的性能。
对于某配试地面目标,在暗室中测得其散射矩阵为
针对每种误差,分别设计两类仿真实验。第一类实验中,向散射矩阵数据添加确定的FRA真值,对于P波段信号,可设为20°,探究系统误差大小对FRA估计方法性能的影响。第二类实验中,向散射矩阵数据添加确定的系统误差值,探究FRA真值大小对FRA估计性能的影响。
系统加性噪声对FRA估计性能的影响如图5所示。
图5(a)可知,N1方法计算所得FRA估计误差低于B&B方法,3种方法在信噪比高于20 dB时,估计误差均在2°以下。由图5(b)可知,当FRA真值为45°时,由于FRA估计值超出±45°范围,FRA估计出现严重误差;3种方法估计所得结果均出现畸变点,存在估计模糊问题,N1方法与B&B方法模糊程度低于N2方法。
幅度不平衡对FRA估计性能的影响如图6所示。由图6(a)可知,N1方法与B&B方法计算所得FRA估计误差相似,N2方法误差更小,在相同幅度不平衡度下将估计误差缩小了近0.2°,提升了FRA估计的性能;3种方法在幅度不平衡度不超过10%时,估计误差均在4°以下。由图6(b)可知,当FRA真值为45°时,由于FRA估计值超出±45°范围,FRA估计出现严重误差,3种方法估计所得结果均出现畸变点,存在估计模糊问题。
相位不平衡对FRA估计性能的影响如图7所示。由图7(a)可知,N1方法与B&B方法计算所得FRA估计误差相似;当相位不平衡度超过6°时,N2方法误差更小,在相同相位不平衡度下将估计误差缩小了近0.2°,提升了FRA估计的性能;3种方法在幅度不平衡度不超过10°时,估计误差均在6°以下。由图7(b)可知,3种方法在FRA真值为45°时均未出现畸变点,不存在估计模糊问题。
串扰对FRA估计性能的影响如图8所示。由图8(a)可知,N1方法与B&B方法计算所得FRA估计误差相似,N2方法误差更小,在串扰不超过-20 dB时将估计误差降低到6°以下,在串扰下将估计误差缩小了近1°,提升了FRA估计的性能。由图8(b)可知,3种方法在FRA真值为45°时均未出现畸变点,不存在估计模糊问题。
综上所述,N1方法改善了B&B方法在系统加性噪声影响下的FRA估计性能,N2方法优化了B&B方法在幅相不平衡度和串扰影响下的FRA估计性能。因此,通过N1方法与N2方法能得到更加准确的FRA估计值,提高了极化角估计的准确性,与理论分析结果一致,实现了星地P波段信号极化角校正。
本文针对星地通信中P波段信号在电离层效应影响下的DOA-极化校正问题,从DOA修正和极化角修正两个方面分别进行了研究,通过理论分析和仿真实验,得到了以下结论:
1)电离层折射效应产生的俯仰角误差对信号DOA估计产生影响。基于电离层信号传播模型的俯仰角误差修正方法可以准确计算俯仰角修正值,在大俯仰角入射和较低频段的情况下,俯仰角修正量较大,在本文仿真场景下可达0.1°以上,提高了DOA估计的准确性,实现了星地P波段信号DOA校正。
2)电离层FR效应产生的FRA对信号极化角估计产生影响。基于地面目标散射的N1方法与N2方法可以得到FRA估计值,N1方法改善了系统加性噪声影响下的FRA估计性能,N2方法优化了幅相不平衡度和串扰影响下的FRA估计性能,两者缩小了FRA估计误差,提高了极化角估计的准确性,在本文仿真场景下可将FRA估计精度提高近1°,实现了星地P波段信号极化角校正。
综上所述,本文提出的方法可以准确计算俯仰角修正值与FRA,实现了星地P波段信号在电离层效应影响下的DOA-极化校正。
由于N1方法与N2方法在系统加性噪声与幅度不平衡度的影响下,均存在估计模糊问题,后续将从该问题入手,探究在该系统误差下的FRA估计解模糊方法。
