An umbilical cable serves as a crucial link between the water surface and subsea units in offshore engineering. In this paper, a model test method for the lateral buckling of an umbilical cable armor layer under bending and compression was proposed, and the model was constrained by a sheath to induce lateral buckling. Model tests were carried out under the conditions of straight and bending radii of 2 m, 1.7 m, and 1.4 m. The accuracy of the proposed model test method was verified by the comparison between the theoretical values and experimental results in previous literature, and comparing with the numerical simulation results of this paper. The experimental study revealed that the critical displacement and critical buckling load for lateral buckling of the umbilical cable armor layer increased as the bending radius decreased, and the location of lateral buckling moved toward the fixed end with decreasing bending radius. For the umbilical cable in a bent and compressed state, lateral buckling of the armor wires with the initial winding position on the concave surface of the bend was more pronounced. The lateral buckling model test method proposed in this paper can be used to study the failure mechanism and mode of the umbilical cable armor layer under lateral buckling and to validate numerical simulation analysis.

脐带缆是海洋工程中连接水上与水下单元的重要纽带。本文提出一种脐带缆铠装层压弯状态下侧向屈曲模型试验方法,通过护套约束模型使其发生侧向屈曲,开展直筒和弯曲半径分别为2 m、1.7 m、1.4 m工况下脐带缆铠装层侧向屈曲模型试验。通过参考以往文献中理论预测值和试验的对比结果,并和数值模拟进行对比,验证本文提出的模型试验方法的准确性。试验研究发现:随着弯曲半径的减小,脐带缆铠装层发生侧向屈曲的临界位移和临界屈曲载荷都不断增大,同时侧向屈曲发生位置向固定端移动;对于压弯状态下的脐带缆,初始缠绕位置为弯曲拱腹面的铠装钢丝侧向屈曲更明显。本文提出的侧向屈曲模型试验方法可用于脐带缆铠装层侧向屈曲失效机制研究,也可用于数值模拟分析的验证。

脐带缆是海洋工程中连接水上与水下单元的重要纽带。本文提出一种脐带缆铠装层压弯状态下侧向屈曲模型试验方法,通过护套约束模型使其发生侧向屈曲,开展直筒和弯曲半径分别为2 m、1.7 m、1.4 m工况下脐带缆铠装层侧向屈曲模型试验。通过参考以往文献中理论预测值和试验的对比结果,并和数值模拟进行对比,验证本文提出的模型试验方法的准确性。试验研究发现:随着弯曲半径的减小,脐带缆铠装层发生侧向屈曲的临界位移和临界屈曲载荷都不断增大,同时侧向屈曲发生位置向固定端移动;对于压弯状态下的脐带缆,初始缠绕位置为弯曲拱腹面的铠装钢丝侧向屈曲更明显。本文提出的侧向屈曲模型试验方法可用于脐带缆铠装层侧向屈曲失效机制研究,也可用于数值模拟分析的验证。

An umbilical cable serves as a crucial link between the water surface and subsea units in offshore engineering. In this paper, a model test method for the lateral buckling of an umbilical cable armor layer under bending and compression was proposed, and the model was constrained by a sheath to induce lateral buckling. Model tests were carried out under the conditions of straight and bending radii of 2 m, 1.7 m, and 1.4 m. The accuracy of the proposed model test method was verified by the comparison between the theoretical values and experimental results in previous literature, and comparing with the numerical simulation results of this paper. The experimental study revealed that the critical displacement and critical buckling load for lateral buckling of the umbilical cable armor layer increased as the bending radius decreased, and the location of lateral buckling moved toward the fixed end with decreasing bending radius. For the umbilical cable in a bent and compressed state, lateral buckling of the armor wires with the initial winding position on the concave surface of the bend was more pronounced. The lateral buckling model test method proposed in this paper can be used to study the failure mechanism and mode of the umbilical cable armor layer under lateral buckling and to validate numerical simulation analysis.

脐带缆是海洋工程平台中连接水上与水下单元的重要纽带,有着海洋工程设备的“神经线和生命线”之称[1]。从结构上看,脐带缆内部由电缆、光缆、液压管等各类功能管缆组成,用于提供电力、动力和化学品,同时也可以传输控制信号以及各类数据等,图1是典型的铠装脐带缆截面图。脐带缆的外部是由数十根钢丝以一定角度螺旋缠绕形成的铠装层,用于增加结构的抗拉强度,是脐带缆的主要受力构件,如图2所示。
脐带缆在安装和运行中会受到压缩载荷的影响,当轴向压缩载荷超过脐带缆铠装层的临界屈曲载荷值时,铠装层将会发生局部屈曲。在工程实践中,研究人员发现,脐带缆的屈曲失效往往发生在触地点、弯曲点等处,在这些区域脐带缆铠装层会受到弯矩和轴向压力的共同作用,更加容易发生屈曲[2]。根据变形方向,局部屈曲可分为径向屈曲和侧向屈曲,如图3所示。径向屈曲又称为“鸟笼”屈曲,是铠装钢丝受压后沿径向滑动而形成的,因其形状类似“鸟笼”而得名。侧向屈曲则是铠装钢丝在轴向压力作用下沿电缆表面滑动引起的。随着工作深度的增加,脐带缆铠装层的局部屈曲已经成为脐带缆的主要失效模式,特别是侧向屈曲由于无法被直接观察到,一旦发生将会造成较大的损失。因此,对脐带缆侧向屈曲的研究是当前脐带缆设计和开发的重点内容。
目前,对脐带缆局部屈曲的研究主要包括理论解析、数值模拟和试验三种方法。其中,试验是研究局部屈曲问题最准确的方法,研究人员和工程师常用的试验类型包括:深水浸没性能(DIP)试验、压力舱试验和机械性能试验等全尺寸试验[3-7]。其中,DIP试验为水下试验,需要进行水下布缆和水下观测,尽管试验结果最为准确,但是成本极高,只有极少数的研究团队有条件进行。而压力舱试验是将模型置于压力舱中进行试验,机械性能试验是用机械设备模拟脐带缆受到的各种载荷,这两种试验方式相对于DIP试验而言,成本较低,但同样需要压力舱、或者其它结构力学加载系统等设备的支持,一般的研究团队也极少拥有,这给研究带来了一些限制。
已有的研究侧重于全尺寸脐带缆的试验分析,本文提出一种脐带缆铠装层侧向屈曲的模型试验方法,可为在试验室条件下研究脐带缆铠装层侧向屈曲机理提供一种新的思路。通过万能试验机进行脐带缆铠装层模型试验,并将试验结果和理论计算结果、数值模拟结果进行对比,验证试验方法的可靠性。同时,通过设定不同的弯曲半径,研究压弯状态下的脐带缆铠装层侧向屈曲的情况。
理论解析方法是在大量假设的基础上,计算脐带缆铠装层发生侧向屈曲的临界载荷。Sævik等[8-10]采用曲梁理论推导了临界屈曲载荷的计算公式,是目前被广泛接受的一个理论解析模型。杨旭等[11]在Sævik的基础上也提出了一个临界屈曲载荷计算公式。此外,Tan[5]、Östergaard[12]、Li[13-14]等也都基于不同的假设通过解析方法推导了临界屈曲载荷计算公式。
在Sævik的理论解析中,脐带缆被简化为螺旋缠绕在薄壁壳面上的曲梁模型。基于Love微分方程,可得到图4所示的曲梁微元的平衡方程。引入谐波解,即假设屈曲后形状为正弦函数,基于铠装钢丝的运动方程,并只考虑其侧向运动,引起铠装钢丝屈曲的临界载荷可以表达为
式中,n是铠装钢丝数量,α是铠装钢丝的螺旋缠绕角度,R是铠装层的节圆半径,EI2EI3X2轴和X3方向的弯曲刚度,GJ是扭转刚度。
需要注意的是,该理论模型是在无摩擦的条件下导出的,而实际情况中铠装钢丝和壳面、铠装钢丝和外护套、铠装钢丝之间都存在接触和摩擦。此外,该模型只考虑了铠装钢丝的侧向运动,并在推导过程中忽略了包括高阶位移项、长度项等因素的影响。因此,它与实际情况相比是偏保守的,并且具有较大的误差。Sævik在后续研究中也将理论计算结果和试验结果进行了对比,发现试验值约为理论值的1.6~1.9倍[15]。因此,对脐带缆铠装层侧向屈曲的临界载荷预测时,可以取理论计算结果的1.6~1.9倍作为参考。
本研究搭建了研究脐带缆铠装层侧向屈曲机理的试验装置,利用微电子万能试验机对脐带缆铠装层模型施加垂直于其轴向的位移载荷,测量模型的位移-轴向压力关系,以研究模型在受压作用下的变形和破坏行为。对于临界屈曲载荷的求解,如图5所示,当对结构施加轴向压缩位移载荷时,结构端部反力呈线性增长,并逐渐达到极值。在极值点处,结构弯曲变形达到最大值,并产生了较大的应力,导致结构失稳破坏,即为屈曲。极值点对应的轴向压力即为结构的临界屈曲载荷Fcr
本试验用到的主要装置为万能试验机,如图6所示。该万能试验机设备型号为WD-P6305,最大荷载量程为300 kN,变形测量范围为0.2%-100%,位移速率调节范围为0.055-500 mm/min,有效试验跨度为600 mm,有效拉伸空间为700 mm。根据理论解析,本试验测量的载荷为百牛量级,因此,在万能试验机上装备量程1000 N的力传感器,型号为JL22-100 kg,其精度为1%-100%,可以准确获取试验数据。
本试验以某型铠装脐带缆为原型,由于只研究铠装层的侧向屈曲问题,因此对脐带缆进行了简化,如图7所示,只保留铠装层的结构,同时忽略钢丝之间的接触影响,试验模型由圆筒、外护套和铠装钢丝组成。由于实验室条件的限制,采用5:1的缩尺比构造试验模型,模型的长度定为一个节距,即铠装钢丝螺旋缠绕一周的长度,试验模型的具体参数如表1所示,试验所用的铠装钢丝的材料参数如表2所示。根据几何相似性准则,等比例缩小模型的尺寸,维持与实际脐带缆相同的形状,以保证试验结果的可靠性和可比性。
试验模型的关键构件包括:
(1)圆筒,由PLA材料制成,如图8所示,用于为钢丝提供支撑,使钢丝能在圆筒壳面上滑移,同时在两端刻有相应的凹槽,用于钢丝的位移加载。
(2)十字型底座,由PLA材料制成,如图9所示,底座上的十字滑块可以沿着圆筒上的凹槽进行滑动,十字滑块上有可插入钢丝的钢丝孔,用于固定钢丝,保证钢丝与底座不发生相对位移。试验机的压头通过挤压底座给铠装钢丝施加位移荷载,由于十字滑块只能沿着凹槽滑动,所以钢丝受力端会保持轴向运动的状态。
(3)护套,由PLA材料制成,如图10所示,利用螺丝将其固定,用于约束钢丝的径向位移,防止钢丝受压后发生径向屈曲。
(4)铠装钢丝,共4根,螺旋缠绕在圆筒的四个相位上,并利用上下两个十字型底座进行固定。
图11所示,利用3D打印机打印圆筒、底座和护套构件并进行组装,缠绕铠装钢丝后最终的试验模型如图12所示。
图13所示,本试验同时设计了弯曲试验模型,用于研究不同弯曲半径的脐带缆铠装层侧向屈曲的情况,通过设定一定的弯曲半径,使得试验模型具有初始弯曲。由于试验模型具有初始弯曲,为了保证底座端面与试验机的压头平行,将一端的底座设置一定斜率使其水平。本研究中根据原型脐带缆尺寸设置了三个不同的弯曲半径,分别为10 m、8.5 m和7 m,缩尺后的模型弯曲半径分别为2 m、1.7 m和1.4 m。
在万能试验机上进行准静态压缩试验,如图14所示,选取0.5 mm/min的加载速率对模型施加压缩位移载荷。这种较为缓慢的加载速率确保了试验模型在任何时刻都可以被视为处于平衡状态,从而允许对试验模型的多个参数(包括反力、应力、应变等)进行精确的测量和分析。具体的试验步骤为:
(1)组装试验模型;
(2)将模型放置于万能试验机上,将模型对准万能试验机的作用力中心,保证模型在试验过程中不受偏心力的作用,用夹具固定住模型;
(3)调整底座位置使之与试验机压头平行,缓慢下降压头使之与底座恰好接触;
(4)以0.5 mm/min的加载速率对模型施加压缩位移载荷;
(5)待压缩至圆筒凹槽的行程接近用完后停止;
(6)在数据采集系统上提取位移-轴向压力曲线并记录临界屈曲载荷;
(7)从万能试验机上取下模型。
为验证试验结果,在数值模拟软件ANSYS中建立脐带缆有限元模型进行仿真。有限元模型如图15所示,模型的结构参数和材料参数均与表1表2一致。设置四根铠装钢丝螺旋缠绕在内层护套上,使用BEAM189单元模拟铠装钢丝,并利用三维六面体单元进行网格划分。利用CONTA175单元和TARGE170单元在钢丝和内外护套之间设置了标准接触,摩擦系数设为0.3。模型的两端分别为固定端和自由端,固定端上节点的全部六个自由度均被约束。自由端上,在铠装钢丝的节点上施加轴向压缩位移载荷,约束护套的全部六个自由度和铠装钢丝的旋转自由度。使用静力学分析进行仿真,仿真结束后提取铠装钢丝自由端节点处的轴向反力并绘制位移-轴向压力曲线,同时记录临界屈曲载荷。
图12所示的直筒试验模型进行压缩试验,并记录临界屈曲载荷,结果如表3所示,共进行了四次重复试验(表中工况1~4),平均临界屈曲载荷为336.57 N,标准差为2.34,说明数据的分布比较紧密,可以认为数据是可靠的。由理论解析公式计算得到的结果为162.80 N,本文试验结果是理论计算结果的2.07倍,这与参考文献[15]中理论和试验对比所得到的结论接近,符合预期,证明试验有效模拟了脐带缆装层的侧向屈曲。由数值模拟仿真得到的临界屈曲载荷结果为310.01 N,与试验结果相差仅为7.9%,也可以证明其结果的可靠性。
试验得到的临界屈曲载荷结果和理论计算结果、数值模拟结果相比偏大,高于参考文献[15]中提出的1.6~1.9倍的参考值。主要原因有以下三个方面:第一,理论解析模型本身是偏保守的。根据第一节的分析,理论解析过程中没有考虑接触和摩擦,同时在推导过程中为了方便计算也忽略了一些高阶位移项和长度项,因此理论解析模型本身就是偏保守的,试验结果理应大于理论计算结果。第二,材料和接触条件存在差异。在本试验中,圆筒、护套等构件是由PLA材料通过3D打印而成的,且存在表面不平整的情况。而实际应用中,和脐带缆铠装层接触的内护套、外护套都是聚乙烯材料,且护套表面是平整的。因此,本试验中铠装钢丝和圆筒壳面、外护套的接触更复杂,使得临界屈曲载荷增大。此外,试验模型中传感器反馈的是十字型底座的反力,十字型底座推动钢丝滑动时本身也与内护套存在接触,因此传感器得到的反力结果是偏大的,这也会导致模型试验的结果超过理论预测的参考范围。
绘制位移-轴向压力曲线,结果如图16所示。对模型施加轴向压缩位移载荷,模型端部产生相应的反力,并逐渐达到极值,这一阶段属于弹性变形阶段,符合胡克定律,因此曲线基本呈线性增长。当位移施加到4.68 mm时,轴向压力达到最大值,结构失稳,开始发生屈曲。随后钢丝进入后屈曲状态,轴向压力随着位移载荷的增加,呈现出波动下降的趋势。最终铠装钢丝的变形情况如图17图18所示,侧向屈曲可以被明显地观察到。总体上看,试验结果符合图5所示的极值点屈曲规律。由于存在摩擦,铠装钢丝并不是在圆筒壳面上光滑地滑动,而是跳跃式滑动,因此输出的轴向压力是波动的而非光滑的曲线,这在接近屈曲阶段和后屈曲阶段体现得非常明显。与数值模拟结果相比,试验中的侧向屈曲位置滞后。可能的原因是在手动缠绕时对铠装钢丝施加了预张力,而由于夹具的限制,铠装钢丝的回弹受到限制。因此,铠装钢丝只能通过压缩过程中位移的缩短来释放预张力,从而产生这种滞后现象。
图19所示的不同弯曲半径的试验模型进行压缩试验,并记录临界屈曲载荷,结果如表4所示。对每种模型都进行四次重复实验,每组模型的标准差均在10以内,可以认为试验结果是可靠的。不同曲率模型的位移-轴向压力曲线如图20所示,由图可见,随着弯曲半径的减小,即曲率的增大,脐带缆铠装层发生侧向屈曲的临界位移和临界屈曲载荷都不断增大。这是由于弯曲半径减小后,铠装钢丝受到沿钢丝方向的分力减小,垂直于钢丝方向的分力增大,因此施加更大的压力才会使铠装钢丝发生屈曲。
为了更好地描述试验现象,将圆筒各向视图和铠装钢丝进行编号,如图21所示,定义相位参数α,当α=0°时,1#钢丝位于圆筒拱腹面,当α=180°时,1#钢丝位于圆筒拱背面。对侧向屈曲后的铠装钢丝进行观察,图22所示为弯曲半径为2 m的模型四个相位的视图,图23所示为270°相位不同弯曲半径的模型钢丝变形情况,可以观察到四根铠装钢丝都发生了明显的侧向屈曲变形。
取下铠装钢丝平放在桌面上进行观察,如图24所示,发现四根钢丝发生屈曲的位置随弯曲半径的减小而向固定端推移。这是由于屈曲最易发生在靠近圆筒拱背的位置,随着弯曲半径的减小,圆筒的拱背位置越来越靠近固定端,因此铠装钢丝发生屈曲的位置也随之变化。而对于不同弯曲半径的模型而言,1#钢丝的屈曲程度都是最大的。这是由于圆筒经过弯曲后,缠绕在圆筒拱腹位置的铠装钢丝受到了抵制,产生了更大的摩擦,从而阻碍了它在圆筒壳面上的运动,铠装钢丝更不容易滑移。因此需要用更远的位移载荷产生更大的轴向力来抵消摩擦的影响,进而使铠装钢丝达到屈曲状态。由于本试验中1#钢丝最靠近拱背位置,所以产生的滑移量最大,屈曲也更明显。
脐带缆是海洋工程中连接水上与水下单元的重要纽带,广泛应用于海洋科学研究、海底油气开采、海底地震监测、海洋气象观测、海底通讯等领域。随着工作深度的增加,脐带缆铠装层的局部屈曲已经成为脐带缆的主要失效模式,特别是侧向屈曲由于无法被直接观察到,一旦发生将会造成较大的损失。本研究设计了一个脐带缆铠装层压弯状态下侧向屈曲模型试验方法,可以在实验室条件下对脐带缆铠装层侧向屈曲机理进行研究,试验结果可与理论解析结果和数值模拟分析结果进行验证和对比。开展了直筒和弯曲半径分别为2 m、1.7 m、1.4 m条件下脐带缆铠装层侧向屈曲模型试验,通过试验得到以下结论:
(1)对直筒试验模型进行了压缩试验,试验得到的临界屈曲载荷数值约为理论解析得到的临界屈曲载荷数值的2.07倍;数值模拟结果与试验结果相差7.9%。通过对比验证,该模型可以有效模拟脐带缆铠装层的侧向屈曲。
(2)随着脐带缆弯曲半径的减小,即曲率的增大,脐带缆铠装层发生侧向屈曲的临界位移和临界屈曲载荷都不断增大。
(3)随着弯曲半径的减小,脐带缆铠装层发生侧向屈曲的位置向固定端移动。
(4)对于压弯状态下的脐带缆,铠装钢丝的相位对侧向屈曲有较大影响,初始缠绕位置为弯曲拱腹面的铠装钢丝屈曲更明显。
